00:18played, J-Lo started off her speech by noting all the wonderful people she's been blessed to work

00:23with. You're only as good as the people that you work with and if you're lucky they make you better.

00:28The triple threat then went on to a different kind of list of thank yous.

00:32I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart.

00:38The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me.

00:41She continued, and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself because that's how I knew that I

00:45had to grow. I want to thank disappointment and failure for teaching me to be strong

00:50and growing emotional, she added, and my children for teaching me to love.

00:54I want to thank all the people who told me to my face or when I wasn't in the room that I couldn't

01:01do this. I really don't think I could have done it without you.

01:05The Generation Award celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and

01:10television have turned them into household names. Past recipients include Dwayne Johnson,

01:15Reese Witherspoon, Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler, among others.

01:18J.Lo has established herself in the film, music, TV, and business spaces with a cumulative worldwide

01:24box office gross of more than $3 billion and 75 million records sold. She was also named to the

01:31Time 100 list and Forbes' Most Powerful Celebrity list, among other honors. Her next film,

01:36Halftime, a documentary about her career, will premiere on Netflix June 14th.
