Da'Vine Joy Randolph talks about all the recognition she has received for 'The Holdovers' this awards season and expresses her gratitude to still be able to show up authentically as herself. Plus, she tells THR on the Spirit Awards red carpet how she was able to secure more tickets for the Oscars 2024.

00:00Congratulations on a big weekend.

00:02Thank you, thank you.

00:03How are you feeling?

00:04I'm hanging in there. I'm having a good time. I'm excited.

00:07This is a very beautiful time. There's no complaints.

00:10It's definitely an amazing time of, not acknowledgement,

00:19but it means a lot to me that I'm able to show up authentically as myself

00:24and do what I love and be true to it,

00:28and that people just are receiving it so warmly. That means a lot.

00:31I think a lot of times people are trying to craft images and ideas,

00:35and the fact that I can just show up and be myself means the world to me.

00:40I'm forever grateful for the love and support.

00:43You've also been nailing something that's very hard to nail,

00:46reading prepared remarks and also make it feel like it's off your heart.

00:51It's on my heart, deeply.

00:54I don't write it until, like, an hour ago.

00:58So it's very fresh on my heart, and it's exactly what I mean to say.

01:02I just write it so that I can make sure that I can articulate it appropriately

01:07and how I feel. But I mean it very deeply, yeah.

01:11And then tell me, the Oscar ticket situation, how's it going?

01:13Have you heard from anyone?

01:14Able to secure the tickets.

01:17So thank you, everyone.

01:19How did that happen?

01:20I don't know. Power of manifestation.

01:22Really?

01:23Yeah.

01:24And how many did you get?

01:26I can't tell you that.

01:27Yeah.

01:28You must get me in trouble.

01:29No, no, but first of all, that's a big success story

01:31because I've been hearing these stories the past couple of years

01:33of how difficult it is, and people don't always realize that you're invited to the party

01:37but not the people you care about the most.

01:39So tell me why that was so important to you to kind of come out,

01:41because that's not an always easy thing to do either.

01:44No, it's a celebration of the people in my life who have helped me get to this point.

01:48I share this with them.

01:49They have to be there, and I'm just so infinitely gracious,

01:53grateful that people were graciously enough to make it happen for me.

01:57So there's a light at the end of the tunnel now.

01:59The Oscars are like a week more away, two weeks away.

02:03And then what's the plan for once that Monday morning happens?

02:05How will you unwind from all this?

02:07Do you immediately go back to work?

02:08Are you in production now?

02:09I'll go back to work in like two weeks after that.

02:11So I'll just use that time to rest and recoup, yeah.
