00:02I mean, look, when C.J.'s – if you really think about it,
00:04like when C.J.'s using his legs, this offense,
00:07there's not one play that's been designed for C.J. Stroud to use his legs.
00:11And so when he's using his legs, that's because something ain't working,
00:14something's broke down, protection, the route, something's broke.
00:17So why in the world would anybody want to encourage
00:20or think that that's a good thing?
00:22I mean, it's – you know, and by the way, the quarterback,
00:24this quarterback is never going to plan on using him.
00:26If he goes into a game and he gets pressured and he has to run,
00:28it wasn't by plan, it was a response to something negative.
00:32So, yeah, that's – that was interesting.
00:35We'll talk a little bit later about where I think I have shifted my belief on that a bit.
00:41But I'm Clint Stern alongside Ron Ugly.
00:44Again, we're at Buffalo Wild Wings, so come on through and hang out with us.
00:48There is – there was one surprising, if you will, I think, firing,
00:55the most recent one, Mike McDaniel.
00:58In Miami with the Dolphins.
01:00I think it was surprising due to the time of which it happened.
01:04Obviously, it didn't surprise Tyler.
01:06I mean, Tyler called this one.
01:07Tyler held on to it.
01:08It didn't surprise him.
01:09You're good, you're good.
01:10But I'm going to tell you, man, Mike McDaniel is out in Miami.
01:13There's a couple of plays off of this.
01:14Number one, I want to go with the obvious, Ron.
01:16Does this mean that John Harbaugh is heading south?
01:19Somebody.
01:21Somebody.
01:22The only one that's newly available is John Harbaugh.
01:25You would think that – maybe it's Harbaugh because that just happened.
01:30But you would think they got some sort of an indication that somebody that they want
01:36as an upgrade over Mike McDaniel is available, and they have made the move.
01:40Because the reason why it's so surprising is Monday, Mike McDaniel went to the media
01:44at the end of the year talking about he's going to be – he's under the impression
01:49he's going to be the one helping select the general manager.
01:51That is a huge swing to your ass is out on Thursday, a couple of days later.
01:58So, yeah, something or someone has come potentially available to them.
02:07And, I mean, it smells like Harbaugh.
02:10The only thing is is the – there seems to be other situations that seem like they would
02:15be better if you're 63 years old and you've been coaching for 18 straight years.
02:20Yeah.
02:21And you want to win right away because that doesn't feel like a win right away type
02:25of spot money tight end to a quarterback that I would think you want to move past on
02:30an 11th pick.
02:31So, I don't know.
02:33Well, I'm going to tell you, I don't – C.J. just spoke about the microwave society.
02:38Look, with Ben Johnson doing what he's doing, Mike Brable's doing what he's doing.
02:42Who else you got out there, first-year coach, that's turned this thing around?
02:45We ain't even talking about the second-year, third-year guy.
02:48Liam Cohen's another first-year guy.
02:49With those guys winning in a big way, Sean Payton has won quickly in a big way.
02:54Obviously, D'Amico Ryan's won quickly in a big way.
02:57I don't know that they don't think that that would be a quick way to turn this thing around.
03:01But I do think it's the most stable hire that's out there.
03:04I don't think there's any coincidence that Mike McDaniel had a job yesterday.
03:09There was a report that the Miami Dolphins had spoke to John Harbaugh
03:14or were at least interested in John Harbaugh.
03:16I don't think it's any coincidence that all of a sudden Mike McDaniel's out today
03:20and as soon as Harbaugh's on the market and reportedly linked to the Dolphins.
03:25So, we'll see.
03:26The other part of that is this, Ron.
03:27You look across – we talked a lot last year when the Texans decided to fire Bobby Slowick.
03:34And we talked a lot about just the offensive coordinators that are or aren't or weren't available, right?
03:40The one good thing that I think Miami could have done smart here is that they held on to the coach they had
03:45until they knew exactly who they wanted and it was an upgrade.
03:48And then they fired their guy.
03:49They didn't fire their guy not knowing who the hell they were going to hire, right?
03:52Last year – I don't know that last year when the Texans fired Bobby Slowick was a great year to fire an offensive coordinator.
03:58No.
03:58I don't know if it was a great year to be in the market for an offensive coordinator.
04:02And I think a lot of people out here push back on us.
04:06Like, well, look, here's the deal.
04:07This is the difference, right?
04:10This cycle's offensive coordinators versus last year's are exactly what I'm talking about, right?
04:16When you look at the offensive coordinators that are there, Mike McDaniel, Brian Dabo, Cliff Kingsbury, Todd Munkin,
04:25Mike Kafka, Davis Webb, Kevin Stefanski.
04:28Like, there are some pretty good offensive coordinators that are former –
04:32Experience, call and play.
04:33Yeah.
04:33Had some success.
04:34Former head coaches as well as play callers that are just on the come up kind of deal versus last year.
04:41Would you have Chip Kelly and a bunch of others?
04:44One of them, Kubiak's.
04:45Yeah, that's right.
04:46Clint Kubiak went to Seattle.
04:47Well.
04:47Right?
04:48You missed on him or maybe you didn't miss.
04:50Maybe that just wasn't the option you wanted to go.
04:52I've already heard some noise on social media.
04:54Do you think there's any chance that the Texans are interested in any of these guys or do you think they stand patting with what they've got?
04:59Well, I don't think there's a chance in hell they move off of Nick Kaley because of who I would think is behind getting Nick Kaley here.
05:09And I don't think they have the balls to go, oh, we're 12-5 and got to the playoffs.
05:18Yeah.
05:18No matter what this offense looks like because, to be honest, if you look at it, this offense and the way it's performed, the way the quarterback has performed and kind of taking even steps back, I think it is definitely up for an evaluation to see if you can improve that position.
05:36I think it definitely should be.
05:38This isn't just a, all right, hey, man, we've been doing pretty good.
05:42We don't need to even look at improving that.
05:45But I don't think there's a chance in hell they change it.
05:50But, boy, they better be right about the growth of Nick Kaley because there are a lot of guys out there that I think a lot of people in the fan base would look at.
06:02And you read some of those names that would be viewed as potential upgrades that you would have more confidence in working with C.J. Stroud, who you're probably about to pay big money with.
06:12Yeah.
06:12And that is something you look at when you potentially, because we've seen, as you just talked about, you don't always have this opportunity with offensive guys.
06:24Like, right now, if you tell me, would you look at Cliff, and you know I'm not a huge Cliff head coaching fan, but I'd have fired Nick Kaley yesterday for Cliff Kingsbury.
06:36I'd have fired him yesterday for Brian Daybold.
06:39Like, those guys I would immediately, like, you know, roll in.
06:44Mike McDaniel, three days ago, would immediately bring in.
06:49But I know they're not going to do that, but they better be right about his ability to grow, of growth with this offense.
06:55Well, I'm with you.
06:55I'm with you that I just don't – I think this is a Nick Casario hire.
06:59I think Nick's been waiting for years for this to happen, and I think it's –
07:02We're 12-5 in the playoffs.
07:04Yeah, and now you're in the playoffs.
07:06You have advanced, gotten better in a regular season with that move, even though it's not because of that move.
07:10But you did get better having made that move.
07:13And so, yeah, I'm with you.
07:14I think they stand.
07:16And, Pat, can I be honest with you all about something, boys?
07:19Sure.
07:20This may – one of the most annoying things in my world is the Stanley Cup.
07:30And I ain't talking about –
07:31NHL?
07:31I ain't talking about hockey neither.
07:33Oh, some people just don't like Canada, man.
07:35I've got a Stanley in my backpack right now, but go ahead.
07:39I got – I mean, I'm not a Stanley guy.
07:41My wife's a Stanley girl, and she's got several.
07:44These are those cups?
07:46And big bastards are all over the house.
07:47Yeah.
07:48I mean, every cup holder –
07:51She got good colors?
07:52I mean, I get in the car today, and I just try to reach across to the other seat over there,
07:56and I knock a cup over into the passenger seat.
07:58I mean, big cup holder is bigger than the console.
08:01I turn around and look in the back seat and reach from the back seat,
08:04and the back cup holders have one in it.
08:07Every time I turn around, there's one laying on the floor somewhere on the couch,
08:10or I'm trying to fit it into the dishwasher.
08:12I'm just going to be honest.
08:13I'm not proud of it.
08:14What's your problem with Stanley's?
08:16Do you have an issue with getty's?
08:17Well, one, there's no reason to have a cup that big.
08:19Zero reason to have a cup.
08:20Oh, they've got different sizes.
08:22Holds more than liquid.
08:23I'm talking about the big dude with the handle with the big straw
08:27that sticks up an extra two, three inches.
08:29Yeah, I'm talking about that big one.
08:31We've got about five of them floating around the house.
08:33It's just unnecessary.
08:34Last time I'm filling that thing up, man.
08:36See, if you put that right there, I mean, I would knock it over and it would annoy the hell.
08:40I may not ever say anything, but it would annoy the hell out of me.
08:42Stanley, baby.
08:43I mean, I can't be the only man out here who is completely annoyed with the size of his wife's cups.
08:50And I'm talking about Stanley cups.
08:53I can't be the only guy.
08:55Yeah, man, I don't know.
08:56Maybe they are 713-5724-16.
08:59I can't be.
08:59You're annoyed by the size of your wife's cups.
09:01I know there's a lot of men out there whose wives carry around them big asses.
09:06As Stan Linden, they don't look at them and go, come on, man.
09:10I mean, just get you a styrofoam cup.
09:12Let's bang this out and go.
09:14I know I'm not the only one.
09:15Tyler, you think I'm the only one, too?
09:17I've got a Stanley cup.
09:18I mean, I ain't with you.
09:19I don't mind them.
09:20I've got a bunch of Yetis, Stan Linden things.
09:23Yeah, I've got them.
09:25Someone texted me and they've got you.
09:27I'm with you, Clint Preach.
09:29I'm telling you, I'm even a Yeti.
09:30It's a very numerous thing of you to be annoyed with.
09:32Well, even a Yeti.
09:33Even a Yeti.
09:34If I leave my own Yeti in the car and I get in there and it's in my way,
09:37I'm annoyed with it.
09:38But typically, it's my wife, Stanley.
09:40And really, it's my wife, Stanley, because it's got that big ass handle on it
09:43and it don't fit in the cup holders.
09:44You're not coming away from me.
09:45Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:47Yeah, those big ones.
09:49Because all my kids got them.
09:51My kids, they take them to school.
09:53I mean, I can appreciate the big gulp back in the day was a thing.
09:57Now, that stop and go.
09:58Now, that was a thing.
09:58But we didn't leave them in cup holders.
10:03My dad had a hard, a green.
10:05Oh, yeah, he already kept going with it.
10:06He had a green big gulp.
10:07Oh, yeah.
10:08But he didn't leave it in the cup holders, and I wasn't driving at the time,
10:10so I didn't give a damn.
10:11I'm going to tell you, I get downright mad over a damn cup.
10:14I'm not proud of it, but I do.
10:16I've got to be honest.
10:17Mad.
10:17Is she aware of this?
10:19Oh, yeah.
10:20I mean, if she.
10:20And now she's just doing it on purpose.
10:21You don't think she heard this right here?
10:25Every time I sit one down and I get one out of the car and say it.
