00:04Figgy Figg's in the driver's seat.
00:06Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
00:10It's time for Figgy's Mixtape on Sports Radio 610.
00:15Yes, it is the Mixtape in the Loop, Sports Radio 610.
00:18It's your man, Figgy Figg, holding it down on a Thursday.
00:21Happy Thursday to everyone out there.
00:23It's almost that time of season where we start getting into the crawfish, right?
00:30Yes, it is.
00:31Now, I have been seeing a lot of people just getting into it early.
00:36I don't know if I trust it or not.
00:38They're small.
00:38What is it, frozen?
00:39No, they're small.
00:41Smaller ones.
00:41Size abundant.
00:42Yeah, yeah.
00:43So, Lopez, you usually have a day.
00:45What is your official day?
00:47Super Sunday.
00:48Super Sunday is always the first day for the crawfish.
00:51Super Bowl Sunday?
00:51The crawfish are kind of getting bigger and they're more abundant.
00:55So, Super Bowl Sunday is the crawfish equinox?
00:57In my mind, it's always the, okay, now we can have them.
01:00Okay, gotcha.
01:01Now we can have them.
01:01So, right now, it's a little too early for you.
01:04A little bit.
01:04Okay.
01:04So, I got to wait until February?
01:06Yeah.
01:06Well, you don't have to.
01:07I always think that they start being their best on Super Sunday.
01:11Okay.
01:11Yeah.
01:12All right.
01:12So, I ran across this Facebook post pretty much saying, how do you reheat or warm up
01:18your crawfish?
01:19And one of my favorite comments from this is, leftovers, what's that?
01:23And I'm kind of with you on that, but it is a couple times where I do have some leftover
01:28crawfish.
01:29Yeah.
01:30And so, I just want to know, how do y'all reheat them?
01:337-1-3-5-7-2-4-6-10.
01:35It's a bunch of different.
01:36Is there a bunch?
01:37Is this one on?
01:38And this is only, like, if you're going to a restaurant, I'm going to eat them all or just
01:41leave them, you know, whatever.
01:42Just leave them?
01:43Well, you know what I mean.
01:44When we have a boil and you have a ton of crawfish, I mean, you're usually drinking beer,
01:50watching a game, chatting, whatever, eating.
01:53After, you know, everybody's pretty much done with the crawfish, we have a kind of a peeling
01:58party.
01:59Just keep peeling.
02:00Just keep peeling and putting all the meat in a Tupperware.
02:03And to me, that has worked fantastic because you have a big pile of, it's already peeled.
02:08Yeah.
02:09I mean, you're there anyway.
02:09It's already peeled.
02:10You can put them in a big Tupperware and you can either reheat them, you can cook with
02:14them, you know, etouffee, whatever you want.
02:16To me, that's been golden.
02:18Yeah.
02:18832 went the same way with you.
02:20They said, make etouffee or batter and fry them.
02:23Yeah.
02:24You do it anyway.
02:25Yeah.
02:25That was actually on this list, too.
02:27A couple people.
02:28This is the one I usually go with.
02:31Eat it cold.
02:32I usually just eat it cold.
02:34Okay.
02:34Yeah.
02:35That never bothered me.
02:36Well, you can do it the same way, like I do.
02:38Put them in the Tupperware, eat them cold later.
02:40Yeah.
02:41Yeah.
02:41Somebody else.
02:42This is another comment from that post.
02:46Coming from a pro.
02:48Lafayette born and raised.
02:50All right.
02:50I'm just like, all right.
02:52I'm like, all right.
02:52You're from Louisiana.
02:53So, you know more than everybody else here.
02:56He said, put a little water in the pot.
02:58Probably one or two inches high.
03:01Add seasoning, butter, let the water get hot, boil, add crawfish, put the top on the pot,
03:08leave it until the crawfish are hot.
03:10Five to ten minutes, turn it off, and it's bomb.
03:13Okay.
03:13I said, we're just boiling them back to life.
03:15He's just real.
03:15Yeah.
03:15I like it.
03:16Yeah.
03:16I like it.
03:18Say that like I'm about to do this.
03:20Hey, some people said put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
03:23All right.
03:23I'm scared to do that.
03:24I wouldn't do that.
03:25Yeah.
03:25I feel like I'm going in the crawfish.
03:27I would do it with the shell on.
03:28I would do it, obviously, as I said, with peeled already.
03:31Yeah.
03:32My wife would kill me.
03:33I'm like, you got this house smelling like seafood.
03:35Oh, that too.
03:36Oh, yeah.
03:36And she don't like seafood.
03:37She's not a seafood person at all.
03:39I don't know why I've never had these before, but this season, I will make that happen.
03:43From the 713 Crawfish Enchiladas.
03:46Oh, I've had them.
03:47They're good.
03:47Okay.
03:48I need to fix that on toe.
03:50That is really good.
03:51Point 713 or anyone else.
03:53Point me to where to get them.
03:54Yeah.
03:54Yeah.
03:55Yeah.
03:55No, definitely point me to where to get them, too, because I don't know if I can hold off
03:59until the Super Bowl.
04:01I might have to cheat a little early.
04:03Well, you can get some here now almost, right?
04:05Or maybe next week.
04:05Some places don't have.
04:06I think BB's don't officially have them right now, BB's Crawfish.
04:10Yeah.
04:11I think they're getting them next week.
04:13If I'm not.
04:13I think I've seen a post saying next week they're going to have a live crawfish and all that
04:18stuff.
04:19But keep sending them in.
04:20Let me know if it's a unique way that you'd like to warm up your crawfish.
04:24713-572-4610.
04:29As I continue on the mixtape in the Loot Sports Radio 6th, I got a little bonus buyer sale.
04:34Okay.
04:35I know Lopez usually do this, but I ran across this clip from talking about Hall of Notes.
04:41You know the group Hall of Notes.
04:42Oh, yeah.
04:42You remember this song right here?
04:45Baby.
04:47Oh, baby.
04:48With a woman's eye.
04:50That one song, a lot of black people thought a black group was singing this.
04:54Blue-Eyed Soul, baby.
04:55Yep.
04:55Yep.
04:56So, who was it?
04:59I think it was John Oates who was doing the interview.
05:03And I wonder if he's full.
05:05I want to see if you buy this.
05:06Okay.
05:07What he said.
05:07So, for those who don't know, they're kind of going through a legal battle or was going
05:11through a legal battle.
05:12And they got pretty doggone messy.
05:16And the person.
05:18You're going home.
05:20It's you and me forever.
05:26Sarah smiles.
05:29Oh, I was going to get on.
05:30How many people named their kid Sarah in honor of this song right here?
05:34How many people had a kid in honor of this song?
05:36Well, non-zero.
05:38Yeah.
05:39So, here's John Oates.
05:41He was on a podcast.
05:43And he was asked if he would ever share a stage with Daryl.
05:48Oh, wow.
05:50Will he ever share a stage again?
05:51I want to know.
05:52He's going to give you an answer.
05:54I want to know if you're buying this or you're selling the reason.
05:57Did you and Daryl ever see yourself sharing a stage again?
05:59I doubt it.
06:00No.
06:00No, not.
06:00I won't say I doubt it.
06:02I would say no.
06:02What would it take?
06:04Nothing.
06:05It's not about money.
06:07It's not about anything.
06:08I think that, you know, a ship has sailed.
06:13And I, you know, well, if you want to go a little deeper into this, I have, you know,
06:19I would like people to remember Hall & Oates in its prime.
06:24I would like people to remember Daryl and myself in our prime when we were singing at
06:31our best, we were writing at our best, producing at our best.
06:35That's Hall & Oates to me.
06:38A redo of that or trying to revitalize that is impossible.
06:44And not to disparage older artists who still want to, you know, want a piece of the, you
06:51know, of the spotlight and stay in the spotlight.
06:54There comes a time when you're just not, you're just not yourself anymore.
06:58You're not, not on your game the way you were.
07:01I'd rather have people remember the music.
07:03You know, I, I'd hate to go out there and play the old hits and not have them sound
07:07as vibrant and as punchy and as, and as great as those, those records.
07:13Are you buying this and him saying this or selling it?
07:17I, I was originally going to sell because the, the, you know, line, there's always a number,
07:23you know, like if somebody threw out whatever million dollar tour.
07:27And mind you, they did have, they, him and Spartan did have issues.
07:31No, I'm saying that, but I was, I was thinking they could set aside their issues for the right
07:36number is where I was going to start.
07:39But after hearing that second part, I think, I think he truly believes like, nah, man, that
07:43I don't want, I don't want to compromise ourselves.
07:46You said that's John Oates, right?
07:47Yeah.
07:48I actually have heard this before and I buy it.
07:52I am a Hall and Oates fan and I, I do know a lot about the breakup.
07:56I think that those, those are pretty irreparable differences.
07:59And I think it's also comes from the music portion of it too.
08:02It's not just like the business side of it, which definitely is some of it, but the music
08:06side of it.
08:07And yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:08I very much understand where he's coming from there on the idea that they'll never come
08:12together again.
08:14And I think he also is making a larger point there.
08:16Clearly.
08:18Uh, should the heat of, yeah, I don't want to get between nobody and their good time.
08:23There's always a number.
08:24No, no, but it's not just that.
08:25Cause like sometimes I'm now out of that vein of thought because sometimes the nostalgia
08:30that people want to go and see some of their favorite acts and you go and you go, oh, this
08:34is not ruined.
08:35Cause I don't know that you could ruin it, but this has put a little bit of a weird patina
08:39on this thing that I love.
08:42I kind of do appreciate recognizing that we're not going to do it justice, whether it's because
08:46of it will, or we just not, we just don't have the fastball of the music.
08:51And so we're just not going to do that.
08:52And I do respect that to some degree.
08:54I also think he's capping to some degree, trying to talk about this music when you just
08:57don't like that dude.
08:58See, that's why I'm kind of selling that a little bit, man.
09:02It'd be one thing if they were on good terms and he said that, then I'd be like, okay, I
09:06understand that.
09:07But after the whole lawsuit and you know, the back and forth, I'm just like, nah, man, this
09:12ain't all about me.
09:13And ain't nobody telling you, hey, go on tour and do a mega world tour or anything.
09:19This is just sharing the stage at one point.
09:21Like, that's easy.
09:24That could be one night where you just do, you know, just a quick little couple hits
09:28and all that stuff.
09:29And there's always the possibility of reconciliation.
09:32It happens a lot.
09:33It does happen.
09:34It does happen.
09:35It's gotten, it's gone a long time and it's gotten nasty.
09:37In this clip, he started it off by saying, I don't think that will happen.
09:40Then he said, wait, scratch that.
09:42It won't happen.
09:43So I don't think that's going to happen.
09:45And that clip is a few years old.
09:47Yeah.
09:48I know that for certain.
09:49So, yeah, he's, I don't think it's happening, man, because he would have left the door open
09:53somehow if he thought it would happen.
09:55But yeah, that ain't happening.
09:56Yeah.
09:58It's me, Ape and the Loot Sports Radio 16.
10:01I got to give a special, special salute and shout out to the legend, the one and only Captain
10:07Mickey.
10:08Yeah.
10:08And for those who don't know, Sports Radio 16 made a programming change with the outdoor
10:14show and it's no longer being aired on, on the station.
10:18It was on from, I want to say four to six, Monday through, or Thursday through.
10:25Four to six a.m.
10:26Well, Thursday, Friday.
10:27Thursday, Friday.
10:27Five to seven on Saturday, Sunday.
10:29Yeah.
10:29I think it was actually four to seven on Saturday and Sunday because I had to work.
10:35He was like, I was definitely here for three hours.
10:37I remember that.
10:37I remember the hours.
10:38Yeah.
10:39Actually, I had to get here an hour early.
10:41Oh, wow.
10:41To make sure everything.
10:41So I was up here two, three in the morning.
10:43Yeah.
10:44But yeah, so unfortunately they made a change and all that stuff and Captain Mickey announced
10:50it.
10:50I ain't going to read the whole thing, but he pretty much said he enjoyed his time working
10:55here for the 18 years of the show and appreciate everybody sharing the stories together.
11:01But he said, this will not be the end of us.
11:04And yes, you all have been so much part of this as anyone.
11:09And I appreciate all the loyal listeners.
11:11Until then, good luck and good fishing.
11:13Yeah, man.
11:13That's what he said in the Facebook group, which is the morning sickos, which I really
11:19like.
11:19And it's going crazy in there today.
11:22But before, I want to get Lopez the floor in a minute, give you the floor in a minute
11:27to kind of react to it and kind of explain what's going on after this.
11:31But in honor of the outdoor show, a lot of people don't know this.
11:35I think Reggie, you wouldn't hear yet.
11:38I haven't heard of you.
11:39Yeah.
11:39So I had the honor of filling in for Captain Mickey.
11:44And I was shocked when people came to me and said, hey, need a favor from you.
11:49Captain Mickey, he's sick.
11:51His producer's sick.
11:52So we need you to fill in for the outdoor show.
11:54The Captain Mickey show.
11:56I looked around.
11:57I was thinking in my head, you want my black ass to fill in for the show?
12:01Like, I don't know how this is going to work out.
12:03I don't know what the morning sickos.
12:04But it was like a best of thing.
12:06Yeah, yeah.
12:07So I had to put a lot of clips and all that stuff, voice it over and all that.
12:11So before I get to how I sounded on this, this is how Captain Mickey sounds every single
12:17morning whenever he worked on the outdoor show.
12:20This is the Sports Radio 610 Outdoor Show with Captain Mickey Eastman.
12:26Captain Mickey has been guiding the Texas Gulf Coast waters for over 30 years and has won
12:31numerous national and local tournaments.
12:33Now, here's your host, Captain Mickey.
12:37Good morning.
12:39Welcome to the Sports Radio 610 Outdoor Show on this Thursday morning.
12:42I'm Captain Mickey Eastman producing the Outdoor Show.
12:45So this morning is Jake, our sponsors today.
12:48Sound kind of cool, right?
12:49Oh, man.
12:50Yeah, yeah.
12:51Sounds authoritative.
12:52Very much.
12:52Star tournament and.
12:54Yeah, so that's how he starts the show off on the outdoor show.
12:59So I'm sitting here thinking like, I don't know how I'm going to beat that.
13:03Yeah, I don't have the accent.
13:04So I don't know how I'm going to compete with that.
13:07So I said, you know what?
13:08Don't think too much into it.
13:09Let me just be me.
13:10A lot of people always say, just be yourself.
13:13So I decided to do the same thing.
13:15Here is my version of it.
13:16When I kicked off the outdoor show, and this is how I sounded.
13:23This is the Sports Radio 610 Outdoor Show.
13:26Going good.
13:27With Captain Mickey Eastman.
13:29Captain Mickey has been guiding the Texas Gulf Coast waters for over 30 years and has won numerous national and local tournaments.
13:36Now, here's your host, Captain Mickey.
13:39What's going down at H-Town?
13:41This man, Figgy Fig.
13:43Holding it down on a Thursday.
13:45Good morning.
13:46Happy Thursday to everyone out there.
13:48Hope you guys are doing great this morning.
13:51And yes, this is not Captain Mickey.
13:53Oh, no kidding.
13:54Captain Mickey is out today.
13:56A little bit under the weather, but you got me for the next two hours.
13:59Oh, man.
14:00But don't change that channel.
14:01We got a special treat for you guys.
14:04I call that the Captain Mix tape.
14:06Hey, I'm sure I knocked some people off the boat.
14:09Oh, you know, they were like, what is going on?
14:12Fell in the water, man.
14:15What's up, H-Town?
14:17Yeah.
14:18Yeah.
14:18So, I appreciate, you know, I thought I was going to get crushed in that group chat, by the way.
14:23The Morning Sickos Facebook page.
14:26And a lot of people's like, hey, it's sound pretty good.
14:28I really enjoyed it.
14:29So, salute to Captain Mickey Lopez.
14:32How do you feel about all of this?
14:34And tell the people what's happening now.
14:37Well, I would encourage people to go to the show this morning, the first segment of the show this morning.
14:44We talked about this more in detail.
14:46We being myself, Captain Dean Thomas, Captain Caleb McCumber, and Captain Scott Null from the Bite Me podcast.
14:53Just because, you know, well, you'll hear it if you go back and listen.
14:59Kind of life comes at you fast kind of thing.
15:03Mickey, they changed the programming.
15:06The Bite Me podcast is now going to be four times a week, two hours, eight hours a weekend, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
15:13Really, really excited about it.
15:15I actually called Captain Mickey yesterday.
15:17Had a really good conversation.
15:18I mean, the guy's a legend, like an absolute legend.
15:23And I've fished with him.
15:24I've hung out with him at the fishing show.
15:26Speaking of mouths, you want to wrap your mouth around some of this sausage right here.
15:32Yo, that was a classic drop right there.
15:35He didn't play that in a long time.
15:37And had a great conversation with him.
15:40You know, he knows that this is just life happening.
15:44But at the same time, really excited, man.
15:47This morning's show was good.
15:49We're going to have another one tomorrow.
15:50But we went in depth about what Mickey was, what we're going to be with the Bite Me podcast.
15:55And you're not going to find better captains than Scott, Caleb, and Dean.
15:58So we're really excited about it.
16:00I think it's going to be fun.
16:01Yeah, salute to Captain Mickey.
16:02Also, this ain't the end of Captain Mickey.
16:04I think he's working on some stuff, too.
16:06Yeah, he said he's going to do some stuff.
16:07Yeah, so the good thing about just programming and podcasts, all that stuff, you can check out everything, man.
16:13You ain't got to go one way or the other, man.
16:15Captain Mickey, I think he's working on some things where he's probably going to have his own little thing going on, too.
16:21So just this ain't the end of Captain Mickey.
16:23Actually, I told him yesterday when we were chatting, rising tide raises all boats.
16:28We know that.
16:28Yeah, yeah.
16:29So Captain Mickey, he in good spirits.
16:31He's going to be good.
16:32I'll probably give him a call later on, too, just to chop it up with him.
16:35But yeah, salute to Captain Mickey, man.
16:39Absolutely.
16:40Salute to Captain Mickey.
