00:00Er, urgent assistance. I've got the smell to say. Where's the knife?
00:07Hassan was a troubled young, young boy.
00:12He threatened other pupils. He threatened two girls at school.
00:18He would get angry over disrespect.
00:22Eliane really loved her friends.
00:25It turns into a sort of quite difficult encounter
00:30and one of the girls throws water on Hassan.
00:37Eliane and her friends were talking on Snapchat about Hassan.
00:46It was a horrible, horrible premonition of what was to come.
00:55The End
01:1615-year-old Eliane Andam lived in the busy London borough of Croydon
01:21with her mum, dad and little brother.
01:23Eliane was my younger cousin.
01:26And yeah, just grew up together.
01:28We all lived very close to each other.
01:31We always did things together.
01:33So we were more like brothers and sisters.
01:38How was school? Good.
01:40Every single time, same thing.
01:42How was school? Good. Even though it was bad.
01:44Eliane, well, she was a joy to be around.
01:53I feel like you can see her smile from very, very far away.
02:00She had such a lovely, kind soul
02:03and she genuinely cared about others.
02:06My auntie and my uncle, they were struggling for a while to have a child.
02:16And then Eliane came and I was kind of the miracle baby.
02:20She was a very talented, good singer.
02:27I'm a pastor here and I used to do gospel rap.
02:31There's a video of her in my studio and she's rapping along to one of my songs.
02:37She was just all around gifted.
02:40We're all like, how someone so young could be so, like, smart.
02:45You didn't have to save me.
02:49Social media was definitely, like, a big part of her life.
02:59She was really, really big on dancing and TikTok dancing.
03:04When we ever had cousin meet-ups and so on,
03:07she would be doing dancing and teaching people how to do dancing.
03:10I never got involved. I thought I was too old.
03:11If I was doing, like, a dance on TikTok, she would stand up and say,
03:15oh, you're doing it wrong.
03:16And then she showed us, oh, how you're supposed to do it.
03:18She was a very important figure in our family.
03:30In 2023, one of Eliane's friends was in a relationship
03:33with a 17-year-old boy called Hassan Sentimou.
03:36Eliane's friend was unaware of the challenges he'd faced growing up.
03:41Hassan Sentimou had a very troubled childhood.
03:46I believe at a young age he was in Uganda and faced some difficulties there.
03:51He alleged physical abuse whilst he'd been in Uganda.
03:56When he was brought back to this country,
03:58he struggled with anger issues even from a young age.
04:04We know that he was actually referred to mental health services
04:07because staff at his primary school reported that he was self-harming
04:11but also acting aggressively towards children.
04:15He would get angry over disrespect
04:17and it would be very hard to calm him down.
04:24Hassan lived with his mother
04:26and it did get to a stage where his mother couldn't cope
04:30and he was taken into foster care.
04:32She was heard to say, please take him away.
04:34Please take him away.
04:41His foster carers did say that he did struggle to make friends
04:45and he found it difficult to respond to boundaries and being told no.
04:50And when he was told no, he would respond with threats or violence.
04:55When Hassan was in foster care,
04:57he actually threatened to cut the cat's tail off
05:00that belonged to the foster carer.
05:14Though Eliane hadn't met him,
05:15Hassan's relationship with her friend was in difficulty
05:18and he took to social media to discuss dark thoughts with someone he knew.
05:25Hassan did share some quite troubling messages.
05:28One of those was that life is hard and tough
05:31and I can break people physically and mentally.
05:35If we look at this,
05:36we can get an insight into Hassan's state of mind.
05:39He's experienced in turmoil.
05:41However, it also feels like there's a need to assert dominance and control.
05:47It's a quite troubling message.
05:48He talks about psychologically breaking people
05:51but also physically hurting them.
05:53It's trying to set the bar around control,
05:56that people understand that he's in charge.
06:04There are other messages that Hassan shared.
06:06Him talking about the real him.
06:08The fact that he believes when people see him,
06:12they don't really see him,
06:13really speaks to a person who feels very isolated from the world.
06:18And this, I think, really speaks to his disconnect
06:20between how he feels and how he believes he's seen.
06:23He mentions kitchen knives and how he contemplates actually taking his own life.
06:32He's seriously discussing suicide.
06:35He's willingness to talk about death in this way.
06:39This is a very, very troubled young man.
06:44You start to unravel the complexities and the challenges that Hassan has in his life.
06:49Weeks after sharing these worrying messages,
07:09Hassan contacted Eliane's friend to tell how the relationship was over.
07:13The messages that Hassan sent to his girlfriend,
07:19there's a sense that the problems within the relationship lie with the girlfriend.
07:23Her energy is dead, so there's something wrong with her.
07:26And I think this gives us an indication to how he may actually view women.
07:32Hassan and Eliane's friend started to arrange an exchange of their possessions.
07:37But the messages quickly became aggressive.
07:40Hassan's messages are quite impatient, very demanding and controlling.
07:50Shocked by the contents of Hassan's messages,
07:53Eliane and others reached out to their friend with support.
07:56The tragic part of this case is the fact that Eliane didn't actually know Hassan.
08:02The only reason that she knew of him was because Hassan had been going out with one of her friends.
08:08But he became the ex-boyfriend.
08:12Eliane's friend, she was just taken aback.
08:14Like, no-one speaks to me, speaks to me like that.
08:16And that's when she shared that with the friends.
08:18Eliane would have never stood for that.
08:21She would have always made sure that people are treated the way that they should have been.
08:24Unhappy with how he'd been speaking to his ex-girlfriend about the exchange of possessions.
08:34On the afternoon of the 26th of September, Eliane and friends planned to talk to Hassan at the Wick Gift Shopping Centre.
08:43ELIAN'S FRIEND
08:49Eliane's friend and Eliane decide to meet up with Hassan, basically to get an apology from him.
08:56He was really rude and disrespectful to his girl.
09:00So she's wanted him to like, you know, say sorry, kind of take some accountability for his actions and kind of notice that he's in the wrong, that he shouldn't speak to women like that.
09:13He wasn't really in her circle. And I think that was where Eliane was more introduced to Hassan.
09:17I don't think she knew much of him beforehand.
09:27The meeting was an opportunity for Hassan to apologise to his ex-girlfriend about the way he had treated her.
09:33However, things didn't unfold as one had hoped.
09:38The friend had a one-to-one conversation with him and basically was telling him,
09:41can you apologise for what you said? And he said, no, I'm not apologising.
09:44And that's when Eliane and her friends got involved.
09:50They were firm with him.
09:52And I think as young people, there was a bit of teasing going on as well.
09:57One of them was recording the situation.
09:59I don't believe it was posted online, but it was recorded on Snapchat.
10:03It turns into a sort of quite difficult encounter between the boy and the girl.
10:10And one of the girls throws water on Hassan.
10:13It had been captured on CCTV and they are laughing, they're joking, they're messing about.
10:28Hassan, I think, felt quite attacked.
10:31There was also a sense that he was ridiculed and he even experienced a public humiliation of having water thrown at him.
10:37All this was recorded and for a teenager who obviously is on social media quite a lot,
10:49it was just something that, you know, it would have been a trigger for him.
10:54In the day of social media and how these things are perceived,
10:58if that video is then shared, it could then affect the credibility of Hassan.
11:07Young people have sort of inflated the whole concept of respect.
11:11And if they feel disrespected, things that perhaps most people would, you know, brush off,
11:16it becomes a huge issue for them.
11:19And social media amplifies that because people talk about it, share videos,
11:27exchange videos, comment on those.
11:30He may have experienced this as an attack on his pride
11:33and he may feel the need to retaliate and assert his dominance.
11:38Hassan is concerned about sharing of that video
11:41and he actually addresses those issues with one of his friends.
11:46He talks about the effect on him and how are other people going to see this.
11:50So they're going to see this as a bunch of girls through water over Hassan
11:53and he did nothing about it.
11:55So he is concerned about his credibility.
12:01He definitely felt humiliated and he did communicate that to a friend on the phone
12:06and he said he can't let this lie, he can't let this lie.
12:08A friend told him, Hassan don't do anything stupid.
12:13When he's texting his friend, you can see that he's starting to plan
12:16what he's going to do the next day, which is what happened, yeah.
12:20On the evening of September 26th,
12:23Hassan wasn't the only one discussing the day's events on social media.
12:27Eliane and her friends were talking on Snapchat about Hassan
12:31and although they were joking about it,
12:33they did actually say he could turn up and kill us all.
12:36And it's almost like it was a horrible, horrible premonition of what was to come.
12:4215-year-old schoolgirl Eliane Andan was working hard to pursue her dreams of becoming a lawyer.
12:48In my family, we weren't the most academic, but Eliane, from when she was a kid, she was quite intellectual.
12:51She could spell stuff that I couldn't even spell when I was a teenager.
12:53Her mum tried really hard to get her into a good school, which is why she went to a private school.
12:57No one from my family ever had the opportunity to go to a private school.
13:01No one from my family ever had the opportunity to go to a private school.
13:09I couldn't even spell when I was when I was a teenager
13:17Her mum tried really hard to get her into a good school, which is why she went to a private school
13:24No one for my family ever had opportunity to go to a private school
13:27It felt right for her to do it just because of her love for education and her dreams and aspirations
13:32She wanted to be a lawyer. I taught Eliane art
13:36She'd come up at lunchtime with just a painting and she was really great. She was awfully passionate about it
13:43So those working hard always doing the right thing. She was really really popular in school as well
13:51Eliane really loved her friends. So her friends were her unit
13:56I suppose Eliane was the matriarch of the group
14:00She is the one that would look out for each one of them. No Eliane doesn't know him personally
14:06One of her close friends has been dating 17 year old Hassan Sentamu a boy with a background of violent behavior
14:13Hassan Sentamu was entirely different from Eliane
14:17He was a troubled young man. He'd been in and out of foster care. He had huge problems in his life
14:25You have two people in entirely different upbringings and starts in life
14:30Eliane's friend had just split up from Hassan
14:37Shortly after the separation Eliane and her friends met with him but things turned sour
14:42There was some name-calling but also one of the girls has thrown some water at him
14:47So he was deeply humiliated in relation to that
15:06The following day Hassan and his ex-girlfriend arrange via social media to meet up in the morning to hand over personal items
15:15It's things that we actually teach them what's a healthy relationship and what isn't and
15:25Every student you know have ups and downs
15:29This was a question everything around them and when a relationship breaks down you often do want to just exchange your belongings
15:38There's actually a teddy bear. That's what she wanted to to get that was the only thing she wanted to get that day
15:43On the morning of the 27th of September
15:47Ring doorbell footage captures Hassan leaving his house in New Addington to make the five-and-a-half mile bus journey into Croydon town centre
15:55Arriving into town early ahead of the exchange of possessions with his ex
16:13Hassan sat outside a church for half an hour
16:16They arranged to meet before school at the gift centre
16:21Eliane went along with her friend as a bit of support
16:25Around 8.20 a.m. Hassan makes the 10-minute walk to the meeting point a bus stop outside the shopping centre
16:38They're 15 year old girls. They're not gonna go and meet her boyfriend who's older than her by herself
16:44So Eliane like a good friend would do was obviously going to follow her friends
16:48They'd had arranged to meet him in a public place for safety and that was a sensible thing to do
17:03But Hassan had a face mask on he had two pairs of gloves on it wasn't cold
17:09What they didn't know was that he was also concealing a knife
17:14He's seen on a couple of cameras where he's adjusting the knife in his in his pocket
17:21I don't think you would ever think to yourself. Oh, I'm just gonna go meet someone to change gifts
17:26They're gonna bring her a knife wouldn't cross a normal person's mind
17:36This wasn't the first time Hassan had demonstrated threatening behavior
17:41He threatened other pupils he threatened two girls at school and his behavior just got worse and worse and worse
17:48He was a troubled young young boy
17:56When Hassan was 12 his teachers were confronted with a disturbing situation that demonstrated how troubling his behavior had become
18:04Hassan brought a knife into school saying that he wants to harm himself and
18:08It really highlights the limited range of effective coping skills that this individual has at that young age
18:18He ended up going through the school system where he got excluded he then moved to a different school
18:25He then ended up in a pupil referral unit
18:32In 2019 Hassan was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder although it was borderline
18:37When we look at some of the core experiences in Hassan's life such as suicide ideation feeling disrespected
18:46Negative views of women being abandoned by his mother and his history of violence all of this may feed into an experience of unresolved trauma
18:56And it may increase the likelihood that challenging or violent behaviors will be expressed in the future
19:02If Elian knew about Hassan's history of violence she wouldn't have gone anywhere near him and I don't think any of the other friends would have gone anywhere near him as well
19:19Hassan made concerning preparations for his meeting with Elian and her friends
19:23Hassan clearly had a sinister plan. He was obscuring his face. He had gloves. He was carrying a knife. He was not there for a peaceful
19:32process
19:32We can see that Elian went to the meeting with the sole purpose of supporting her friend
19:37Hassan on the other hand appears to be viewing this meeting through a darker lens
19:42It's likely that the events that occurred the day before of having water thrown at him
19:47Still had an impact on him and he may have been going with the intent of righting the wrong
19:53I
19:56Clearly they didn't see him as a
19:59big threat
20:01It was such a public place
20:03I don't think they understood how dangerous he could be
20:13At 8 30 a.m
20:15Elian and her friends meet up with Hassan outside the shopping center in the middle of rush hour
20:20When they got there
20:23Elian's friend did have the bag of clothes and she gave those clothes to Hassan
20:27But Hassan hadn't brought the teddy bear or the ex-girlfriend's property back
20:34Her friend has kept her side of the agreement she's brought his stuff
20:37But he hasn't come with any of her belongings which kind of shows he had ulterior motives
20:46They were kind of laughing like this is actually a joke like we've come all the way here
20:50He hasn't given the stuff and Elian does a snapchat
20:53You're about to collect the stuff from Hassan
20:56You're about to entertain she gets her stuff he gets his stuff
21:00He didn't even bring the stuff
21:02Explaining the situation like how just this guy just keeps messing her around
21:06He didn't even bring the stuff
21:16Obviously it's not fair that he now has all his stuff and he didn't bring her stuff
21:20So as they're walking she just quickly ran past grabbed her friend's stuff back from his hand
21:25Still laughing you know smiling joking
21:27But then he then chased her
21:49Croydon schoolgirl Elian and am is accompanying her friend to a meeting with her ex-boyfriend Hassan sentiment
21:57Well Elian's friend wants her possessions that he has in particular a teddy bear
22:03So they arranged to meet to give the possessions back to each other
22:10The plan is to meet at the wick gift center to exchange items that have been left at each other's houses after their relationship broke down
22:19He had a knife with him he had his face obscured he tried to change the venue of where this meeting was going to happen
22:28He didn't give her stuff back and so he walked away and Elian just ran and she took the bag from him she ran and took the bag from him
22:35I don't know from the day before feeling the violation and then feeling okay this is the second time being violated
22:52For some reason he just brought daylight
22:54In probably the most busiest part of Croydon he takes out a kitchen knife and he stabs her multiple times
23:02I don't think it could handle what had happened with the water incident in a moment
23:14I think of him just rage anger retaliated in a way that no one expected to
23:30As Hassan fled the scene those around Elian rushed to try and help her
23:47There was a bus driver who was on scene who had first aid training. He tried to help Elian
23:53Police arrive within minutes and continue attending to Elian's injuries until paramedics can reach the scene
24:04But she'd been attacked in such a vicious brutal way that she had no chance of survival
24:08I pick up the phone and my sister tells me that something horrible has happened to
24:19to Elian and and and she's been she's been killed and she's she's she's dead
24:25I just froze I can't remember much afterwards but I remember just freezing and
24:30um my wife could see that something was wrong and she was like what's what's the matter and then I gave
24:35the phone to my um to to my wife who was speaking to my sister and then she just kind of broke down crying
24:43I see a text on my phone from my cousin but at first I thought it was a joke but the moment it happened
24:48it's hard to explain because of it was the main emotion I said I had was shock
24:53She was killed literally two minutes away from my church
25:01um and in broad daylight people going to work going to school were seeing that
25:10He knew what he was doing it was anyone who would have shown him any disrespect would have got hurt
25:23He's seen putting the gloves and a mask in a bin
25:47before hitting residential streets where CCTV captures him discarding the kitchen knife in the
25:56front garden of a house on cedar road
26:17the manhunt for hassan sentimu has begun
26:38the police have put out an apb for a man matching his description
26:42as they fan out across croydon they wanted fugitive boards the number 130 bus
26:57before changing to the number 64 seemingly heading towards his home five and a half miles from the
27:03scene of the crime
27:13there was a kind of a laid-back element and how his body language and didn't really seem like he cared
27:22he had a new girlfriend at this particular time and he was planning on meeting her after after college
27:28so he messages her i don't think i can meet
27:30i don't think i can meet so he knows what he's done
27:38the sun is nearing the end of his bus journey but the police are closing in
27:50one officer spots him disembark on goldcrest way 500 meters from his home
27:55there was a police officer going past who stopped him and asked him who he was
28:08what's your name mate what's your name this is a very very poor planned murderer because he stopped very
28:16very quickly he gives a a different name but he has identity his true identity
28:26on him he just has a kind of a blank blank face it seemed like a boy who was quite cocky and um not
28:38remorseful he identified him from his oyster pass realizing that this is the person that has just
28:51been involved in a stabbing at the wittgift center
29:05the park but as he's caught i think he said that you've hurt your girlfriend and he was like
29:20girlfriend um and it was interesting that that was what annoyed him that you mentioned
29:25she's not she's not my girlfriend where's the knife i don't have it on my phone
29:47while searching hassan for further weapons
29:50officers are informed that elianne has succumbed to her injuries it's only when he'd stopped him
29:56that it came across the radio that he realized that elianne had died
30:10he tells him it's murder and he just has a kind of a blank blank face
30:14can i get any more on the phone any medical mate now it's not a good time
30:38news of elianne's tragic death soon spread throughout the local area
30:42loads of people started coming to the house bring gifts bring food and so on
30:50and many turned to social media to send messages of support
30:54when elianne died it just felt like a lot more than just my family was feeling the the pain
31:00i was getting messages from people so far away from me kind of say when i heard about this
31:05i felt this i'm sorry about this i didn't realize that other people outside of the family were also
31:11going through these emotions there were many parents who looked read and followed this story
31:18and thought this could happen anywhere and i think that's why it captured the imagination and the
31:27emotion of the whole country and especially croydon everyone basically saw her as a daughter
31:34or as a as a sister and the support we got was was incredible
31:46a week after elianne's murder the community came together for a vigil on the road where she was killed
32:03i think about 1000 plus people came to it
32:15what was strange about that is we didn't actually advertise it that broadly but somehow word got out
32:21when i've gone to the vigil i did not expect that many people he will wipe every tear from their eyes
32:29there'll be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away
32:37amen i've seen everyone with like their candles and people crying in the crowd and just you could
32:43kind of see like if they could they would all just kind of come and give us a massive hug
32:48i felt kind of supported almost that i'm not the only one that's dealing with these emotions
32:56i led the vigil and it was a beautiful time and to see the community come around
33:01never i've never heard her say a bad word to me her words were precious
33:13i know my family was 100 grateful for everything that credent
33:16as a community done to help us through the whole mourning process i'm just thinking to myself this
33:21is beautiful this is really really beautiful but i would have much rather elianne was here with us
33:33hassan was charged with the murder of elianne and he went not guilty
33:38the police have got a very good case obviously against hassan we've got cctv uh recovered the knife
33:50but then you find out that he wants to plead guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished
33:54responsibility that must be devastating for the family to hear that
34:00hassan's legal team planned to argue that his autism affected his mental capacity at the time of the
34:08attack meaning he was not fully responsible for his actions hassan claimed that his autism was a
34:15contributing factor in the crime he's claimed diminished responsibility people who plead diminished
34:21responsibility may do so in an attempt to get a lighter sentence however there has to be very strong
34:28evidence that a defendant's functioning was significantly impaired by their mental difficulties
34:33or disorder it's quite clear that this was planned he's come armed with a knife
34:40he's got his gloves on a mask on it's a well thought through act
34:49and if hassan's not guilty plea was not enough for the family to contend with
34:53it was reported that whilst on remand hassan was making threats to kill again
34:59he made a comment um which really hurt us uh where he was having an altercation with a young man in jail
35:05and he said i'll hurt your mom i think he was referring to what he had done to my cousin and he said
35:10i'll do the same to your mom do you want to be like six feet under and so it didn't really it didn't
35:16really seem there was a lot of remorse for what he had done and that he actually remembers what he's done
35:19and he's actually saying i'll do this to to another person i remember the feeling of anger that had
35:27inside me he hasn't thought about the precious life that he's taken
35:34definitely a monster a monster is probably the best word i'll use to describe him
35:47after being arrested and charged for the brutal killing of 15-year-old elliane and down
36:02it's murder hassan sentimu pleaded not guilty arguing his autism diagnosis meant his mental
36:09functions were impaired at the time of the attack a trial in any case um is a traumatic thing and a trial
36:21for murder of a child it's just devastating um you know to have all that evidence you would think
36:29or you would hope as a family that that person would plead guilty to murder but instead he wouldn't do
36:36that hassan claimed that his autism was a contributing factor in the crime he's claimed diminishing responsibility
36:54hassan was on remand for 16 months before the trial would begin
36:57in november 2023 two months after a murder in broad daylight in croydon elliane's family laid her to rest
37:17for my auntie's house we had like a procession um and there was about 300 people following behind me
37:23just to go to the to the church we had about 800 people in the church and there were hundreds and
37:30hundreds of people outside of the church that couldn't come in oh there you go
37:37elliane was much loved she she was an incredibly gifted talented beautiful young soul who had so much
37:43so much to live for
37:54so
37:56so
37:58so
38:02so
38:04so
38:06so
38:0814 months later in january 2025 the trial of a san sentimu began at the old bailey in london
38:24that was the first time i i saw him i saw a monster i saw a monster who's absolutely ruined
38:32our family the evidence had to be played out in court minute by minute as to what happened
38:40to elian which is a harrowing experience for any family the evidence is overwhelming you've got
38:49cctv you've got evidence from the the girls you've got dna you've got forensic material there it was
38:55premeditated he'd gone to the scene with a knife and he carried out a quite horrific attack and then
39:01run off to dispose of the murdered weapon in his clothes i didn't prepare for all of that
39:12information to be given to me it was sickening and my auntie had a really traumatic time where
39:22she physically collapsed it was a horrible experience it was a horrible experience that i wouldn't wish
39:28anyone elian's family were unmoved by hassan's attempt to use his autism as a defense
39:45we were just fuming absolutely fuming we have family members who have autism
39:53for that argument to be brought up was such a disrespect to the people in the country who
39:57struggle with autism i don't really agree with none of it i've worked in schools with kids with
40:03autism and adhd and the day before it he's already messaged people to say that he's going to take some
40:09sort of action you've woke up the next day you've gone into the cupboard you've seen all the knives
40:14you've picked the one you want to take and then trying to get away with it to the point where he's had
40:18his face covered definitely something that's pre-planned something that you can't blame on adhd or
40:23autism it was a report of a man who had mental health issues he got the diminished responsibility and we were
40:30thinking okay this is actually possible that he could get manslaughter and and not do a long time in prison
40:36but the neurodiversity argument played out differently in this case hassan's defense that he suffers
40:47from autism and also mental health issues the judge and the jury found that neither one of those had an
40:54impact on his actions or his mental capacity as he went into that incident
41:01the court was also told of previous examples of violence from hassan's past they said in school he
41:11was already displaying signs early that he he probably should be watched and monitored he'd been
41:17caught with a knife prior he'd use scissors on a girl before he'd have punched other students on the
41:22back of their head after almost 12 hours of deliberation the jury returned to give their verdict
41:29it was silent to the point where they could hear a pin drop when they said the account of murder and
41:37the jury said guilty everyone's kind of and then I could hear like whispers of oh thank you God
41:43it literally felt like a literal weight which is off my shoulder and I've broke down and people that
41:51see my breaking down having been 17 when he murdered Eliane the starting point for sentencing was
41:5914 years prior to delivering her ruling the judge addressed the court you have taken the life of a
42:06precious child you have devastated the lives of those who knew and loved Eliane and a bright kind and loyal
42:1615 year old on her way to school with her friends the responsibility for Eliane's death will be with you for
42:25the rest of your days the sentence is detention at his majesty's pleasure for the murder of Eliane
42:33and them on the 27th of September 2023 you will be detained for at least 23 years
42:39he kind of froze and just looked down and was crying I don't know if he was crying because he was
42:49remorseful or crying because he got 23 years I don't know but that's that's the time I did see emotions
42:55yeah justice was done in a sense that the person who has done wrong has been put behind bars absolutely
43:09but we didn't feel any joy or contentment from that it was like wow okay let's now see how we can rebuild
43:18in the wake of Eliane's death the family school and community team together to make a positive
43:32lasting memory of her we have a big mural in the heart of Creighton
43:38it's beautiful because all of her family and friends have written like a little message and
43:48that's been stuck on the picture
43:50that mural is absolutely lovely because it celebrates who Eliane was
43:58my hope is that when people walk past it will make them kind of think twice
44:04about carrying knives or using it to harm someone
44:07we've had many murders in Creighton but I think the difference with this one was
44:16it seemed like people were really fed up like this has to stop
44:20I really hope that this will be a mission for our community to really take care of our young women
44:29this definitely was wrong place wrong time all she was there for was to support a friend
44:35getting her property back from an ex-boyfriend
44:38her life was taken over over a teddy bear essentially
44:42there's a void I'm just sad that we've lost so much of what she could have become
44:54her wedding day her first child
45:02how was school good every single time
45:06there's so many things I would have loved to see
45:09everything I do I want to make sure that I make her proud
45:21which is why I've gone into working with kids so hopefully I can let them know
45:26through Eliane's story that um you know they can make better decisions in life
45:36it says forever Eliane and the year of her birth and the year of her death
45:44Tehran's story that she is from the end to the end to the end to the end to the end to the end to Isabella love
