00:17Meeting all the friends we cook for, sharing stories, trips and fun. Big cook, little cook, we'll cook for everyone.
00:31Up a bit, to the left, back to the right. Oh, hello, welcome to our cafe, the best cafe in the world. Excuse me for a minute, I'm just helping someone out. Up a bit, to the left, along a bit.
00:49Ben, you're supposed to be following my helpful directions.
00:53Helpful directions? Oh, hello everyone. Yes, very helpful directions. Whatever I say, you do. Like, turn around.
01:05Oh, turn around. Jump up and down. Jump up and down. And say, boo. Boo. Hey, oh, I like following your directions, Small.
01:17Helpful, aren't they? Hey, should we give Ben some helpful directions together?
01:21Oh, go on, please. I'll go first. Okay. Turn around. What did Small say? Turn around. Jump up and down. What did Small say?
01:35Okay. Jump up and down. And wiggle your little finger.
01:42Wiggle your little finger. Okay, here goes. Turn around. Jump up and down. Go to the sink. Come back to the counter and wiggle your little finger.
01:50Oh, oh, oh. Jump up and down. Over to the sink. Wiggle the counter. Wiggly little finger. What do I do?
01:56Oh, Small, these directions are making me tired. Oh. Okay, Ben, just a few more.
02:02Oh. Go to the fridge. Oh. Over to the fridge. Open the door. Open the door.
02:09Have a look inside. Have a look inside. And what do you find?
02:14Oh, wow-wee. A lovely fizzy drink of lemonade. Mmm. I told you my directions were helpful, Ben.
02:22Oh, yes, they were. Thank you, Small. And thank you, too.
02:27Come on, Small. We've got a customer. Better go and see who it is. And I'll just finish off this lemonade.
02:32I'm on my way. Woo-hoo.
02:38Vroom.
02:44Who's our customer today, Small?
02:50Someone very, very helpful indeed, Ben. I'll give you a clue.
02:54She's wearing a very smart uniform. She's got a walkie-talkie.
02:58She's got a special notepad to write things down.
03:02Can you guess? It's someone very helpful.
03:05It's Polly, the police officer.
03:07Really? Polly, the police officer, has come to our cafe?
03:10I bet she's very hungry. Police officers are always working hard, helping people out.
03:17I think it's time to look in my book.
03:19We need a story to help us cook.
03:32Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
03:35Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World.
03:38Let me see.
03:39One day I was walking in the park, and what a busy park it was.
03:46Bicycles, people jogging, and dogs rushing about as fast as they could.
03:51I hope no one has an accident, I thought.
03:55And just then, out walked a little cat.
03:58Oh dear, there is going to be an accident, I thought.
04:02But just then, everybody stopped.
04:05And why do you think that was?
04:08Because Polly, the helpful police officer, had a special set of traffic lights.
04:13And she made her special set of traffic lights go red, and the little cat walked safely by.
04:19Well done, I said to Polly.
04:21You made everybody stop.
04:23That's what happens when I make my traffic lights go red, said Polly.
04:28Shall I make everybody go again?
04:30Polly, the police officer, made the traffic lights go yellow.
04:35That means the lights are about to change, said Polly.
04:40Then Polly made the traffic lights go green.
04:43And everybody started rushing about again.
04:47Oh, there won't be any more accidents while you're in charge, I said to the police officer.
04:52Not while I've got my helpful traffic lights, said Polly.
04:56Hmm, I think it's time to make everybody stop again.
05:00But something was wrong with the traffic lights.
05:03Oh no, said Polly.
05:06What am I going to do?
05:09I had an idea.
05:11I had made three pies.
05:14A red tomato chutney pie, a yellow egg pie, and a green cucumber pie.
05:19I think you might find these useful, I said.
05:23Polly held up the red tomato chutney pie, and everybody stopped.
05:28She held up the yellow egg pie, and then she held up the green cucumber pie, and everybody started going again.
05:38Everybody will be safe now, won't they?
05:41I said.
05:42Thanks to you, Small, said Polly.
05:44Little cook to the rescue once again.
05:49That was a great adventure.
05:52Ho-ho, brilliant story, Small.
05:55Wee-hey!
05:57Thanks, Ben.
05:59But we still haven't decided what to cook for Polly, our police officer.
06:03She's still waiting out there.
06:05Time for some serious thinking.
06:07I know.
06:17Big Cook's Big Cookery Book.
06:20Of course, the Big Cookery Book.
06:22There's recipes for everything in there.
06:24And where do we look for things to cook?
06:27In the book.
06:28In the book.
06:28In Big Cook's Book.
06:31Oh yes, here it is.
06:33Traffic like toast.
06:34Perfect for a police officer.
06:37Traffic like you can eat.
06:39Come on, Small.
06:40You read out the ingredients.
06:41What does it say we need for traffic like toast?
06:43OK, let's see.
06:44We're going to need butter.
06:46OK.
06:46Over to the fridge.
06:48In we go.
06:49Butter.
06:50Got that.
06:51An egg.
06:52One egg.
06:53Got the egg, Small.
06:54A cucumber.
06:56In the fridge as well.
06:58Lovely cucumber.
06:59Bread.
07:01In the cupboard.
07:02Yep.
07:03Got the bread.
07:04And tomato chutney.
07:06Oh, great.
07:07Tomato chutney.
07:10There we go.
07:12And pop it down.
07:14There.
07:15That's everything we need for the recipe.
07:17And I've been waiting for a chance to use this tomato chutney.
07:20Oh yes, it's interesting stuff, Ben.
07:22It's a bit like tomato ketchup.
07:24I wonder what else is in there.
07:26Well, why don't you zoom off and find out, little cook,
07:29and I'll get everything ready.
07:30That's a great idea, Ben.
07:32I'll be back in a jiffy.
07:34Woo-hoo!
07:37Hey, why don't you come along too?
07:40Woo-hoo!
07:44Go, Small.
07:45Go, Small.
07:45Whiz away.
07:46Whiz away.
07:47I wonder what he'll see today.
07:49I've come to the right place here.
08:02Do you know what they are?
08:05They're tomatoes that are going to be used to make tomato chutney.
08:12Whiz, whiz, whiz.
08:13Chop up the tomatoes.
08:14Yay, the tomatoes have all been chopped up.
08:25Now for the rest of the ingredients.
08:29Here come all those chopped up tomatoes.
08:31There's lots of different ingredients in chutneys.
08:39There's fruits and herbs.
08:43And spices too.
08:47Then it has to be given a really good stir to mix it all up.
08:51Oh, it's hot in there.
08:57It's cooking the tomato chutney mixture.
09:00Now it's been cooked,
09:02the tomato chutney can be put into jars.
09:04Each jar has to have a label so that we know what's inside.
09:19Wow!
09:20That tomato chutney looks really tasty.
09:23I'd better get back to the cafe.
09:24Bye!
09:25Bye!
09:25We're all ready, so take a look and we will show you how to cook.
09:49The jelly boats and pirates go
09:55Princess Pea Pies
09:57Carrot Cakes and Fruity Smiles
09:59As envelopes surprise
10:01We love our cafe and we love to cook
10:04We have a fantastic recipe book
10:08He is big cook and he is small
10:14Friends in our cafe we cook for them all
10:18When your tummy gets all rumbly
10:21You're ready for a treat
10:23You can make something delicious to eat
10:27Have you cleaned the surfaces?
10:35Yes, have you washed your hands?
10:37Yes, all clean and ready to cook
10:41Do you remember the ingredients to traffic light toast?
10:45You do?
10:45There was butter, two teaspoons, an egg, one
10:50A cucumber, three slices, bread, three slices
10:55And tomato chutney, one tablespoon
10:57Whoopee, let's get started!
11:01Now I've already toasted the three pieces of bread
11:03So just take the last two pieces out and pop them onto a plate
11:07Don't forget to turn on the oven, Ben
11:09Oh yes, well done small
11:12We just need to turn the oven on to 200 degrees Celsius
11:15Gas mark six
11:16And make sure you get your grown up helper to do this bit for you
11:19Because the oven is hot, hot, hot
11:22Next we need to cut holes in each of the pieces of toast
11:26Okay then small
11:27I'm going to use this round cutter to make holes in the middle of our toast
11:32So on it goes
11:34And press down firmly
11:36You may need to give it a little bit of a twist
11:39And out it comes
11:41There we go
11:42Pop that on there
11:44And the next one
11:45Same again
11:47Press down firm
11:49And a little twist
11:51And it should come out
11:52Oh, a little bit more
11:54There we go
11:58That's another one
12:00Pop it over there
12:02And the last one
12:04Down we go
12:06Bit of a turn
12:09And it should
12:11Pop out
12:13There
12:15Now we're going to use
12:19These pieces with the holes cut out
12:21The round pieces of toast
12:24We don't use them for the recipe
12:25So you can eat those if you like
12:27Oh goody
12:29I like my toast round
12:30And now
12:31I'm going to spread butter
12:32All around the piece of toast with the hole in
12:35So
12:36A little butter on there
12:37Round we go
12:39All along the edges
12:41And the corners
12:43A little bit more
12:45There
12:46Up that end
12:48Very good
12:49That's looking very good
12:51And that's that one done
12:53Now for the others
12:55Hey
12:55Hang on
12:57Where have the other pieces of toast gone?
12:59I've already done them Ben
13:01You're being very helpful today Small
13:03Oh
13:03Thank you
13:05There we are
13:06Two pieces
13:07On they go
13:09Now I just need to grease this baking tray
13:13I've already greased it Ben
13:15Oh
13:16So you have
13:18You really are being helpful today Small
13:20Put one of the pieces of toast onto the tray
13:24And what's next Small?
13:26The egg Ben
13:27Oh yes
13:28Now you need to get your grown up helper
13:30To help you
13:31To crack the egg
13:32Into the middle of the toast
13:34Oh
13:36Careful
13:36In it goes
13:38There
13:40Pop that back
13:43This is going to be
13:44The yellow light
13:45That means
13:46Get ready
13:47Yes it does
13:49So all we need to do now
13:50Is pop it into the oven
13:52Which we heated up earlier
13:53Remember?
13:54So
13:55It's
13:56Oven gloves on
13:57And another job for your grown up helper to do
14:01Over we go
14:02Careful
14:03All the way over
14:05And
14:08Pop it inside
14:11And make sure you keep checking it
14:15So that it doesn't burn
14:16Leave it in for five minutes
14:19I'll set the timer
14:21For
14:23Five minutes
14:26There
14:33Five minutes
14:35Oh yes
14:37Here we are
14:38Perfectly done
14:41Oh
14:41Lovely
14:42Let's put it on a plate
14:44So we can make it into a traffic light
14:46OK then
14:47I'm going to use a fish slice for this bit
14:49It's a little bit tricky
14:51So
14:51Under it goes
14:53And I'm going to put it onto a plate
14:55With our other two pieces of toast
14:58There we go
15:00Well done Ben
15:02Thanks Small
15:03So nearly done now
15:05All we have to do
15:06Is put the green cucumber
15:08In here
15:09In it goes
15:11The last bit there
15:14Pop it round
15:15Can you guess what that's going to be?
15:19The green light
15:21Which means
15:22Go
15:24Hey
15:24And finally
15:27The tomato chutney
15:30Lovely and red
15:32Here it is
15:34Scoop it in nicely there
15:37All in
15:38And just tidy it up a little bit
15:41There we are
15:43And can you guess what this is going to be?
15:47The red light
15:48Yes
15:49Well done
15:50Which means
15:51Stop
15:53So there we have
15:55Green, yellow and red lights
15:57Woohoo
15:59We'd better pop it through to Polly the police officer
16:01Traffic light toast
16:04Coming through
16:05In it goes
16:08There
16:12All done
16:13So what do we do now?
16:16Can we play?
16:17Not yet
16:18Time to clean and put away

16:51Pots and pans will start to smell
16:53If we don't wash them really well
16:55And now it's clear
