00:00:00Oh, what a go!
00:00:02Oh, look at that!
00:00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:05Rudy!
00:00:30Oh, look at that!
00:01:00And all the goals from yesterday.
00:01:01And joining me, Shea Given and making his match of the day debut,
00:01:04Gary O'Neill, who scored twice on his Premier League debut.
00:01:07So we are hoping for a similar performance tonight.
00:01:09Yeah, it went all downhill from there.
00:01:11But, yeah, it was a good start.
00:01:12No pressure, no pressure.
00:01:13A win for Arsenal yesterday opened up a seven-point lead
00:01:17at the top of the table.
00:01:18Manchester City were looking to reduce that gap
00:01:20against managerless Chelsea,
00:01:21who parted company with Enzo Maresca on New Year's Day.
00:01:24Steve Wilson was at the Etihad.
00:01:26In his long managerial career in three countries,
00:01:31Pep Guardiola has never...
00:01:36That record is under threat.
00:01:38They sit seven points behind Arsenal.
00:01:41It's eight seasons since Chelsea were champions,
00:01:43in which time they've had six full-time managers.
00:01:46Another is incoming.
00:01:47City make three changes to the XI,
00:01:50which drew at Sunderland on 0-0 day.
00:01:52Sorry, New Year's Day.
00:01:54In come Guardiola, Rodri and Reinders
00:01:56for Ake, Nico Gonzalez and Savino.
00:01:59Callum McFarlane...
00:02:00Caicedo is suspended again.
00:02:08Sanchez injured, Fofana ill.
00:02:10In come Jürgensen, Badia Schiel,
00:02:12James, Pedro Neto and Jrau Pedro.
00:02:17Chelsea have lost eight of their last ten games
00:02:19in this stadium.
00:02:20Estavao for Chelsea finds Enzo Fernandes.
00:02:31Pedro Neto is on.
00:02:33Here he is.
00:02:37Matias Nunez ahead of him.
00:02:39Good ball in that and a chance for Estavao.
00:02:42It's blocked really well by Guardiola.
00:02:50The City have the situation under control
00:02:54and that's a great ball from Matias Nunez.
00:02:57What a pass that is.
00:02:59Erling Haaland arriving, Phil Foden arriving.
00:03:01Here's Foden.
00:03:03Brilliantly done!
00:03:06Well, this would have been a sensational
00:03:08counter-attacking goal.
00:03:10Great awareness by Foden.
00:03:14Well, they've done really well, Chelsea.
00:03:16They've defended sturdily.
00:03:20Bernardo Silva
00:03:23trying to twist Gusto
00:03:26and he's succeeded in doing so
00:03:29and he gets the shot away.
00:03:32Well, great work in a very small area
00:03:34from Bernardo Silva.
00:03:37Manages to work that bit of space
00:03:39quite beautifully.
00:03:41Gets a bit of curl
00:03:42but not enough dip.
00:03:43Cherokee's header.
00:03:51Rodri, Foden, Haaland
00:03:53deflected
00:03:55and really well saved
00:03:57by Juergensen.
00:04:00That big deflection
00:04:01could well have looped over the top
00:04:04of the Chelsea keeper
00:04:05but he's adjusted here
00:04:06to make a very good save,
00:04:08Philipp Juergensen.
00:04:09Heavy touch from Achenpong
00:04:22but Rhys James is there.
00:04:24He's only held it up.
00:04:26Rodri
00:04:27and Erling Haaland.
00:04:30Oh, goodness me.
00:04:33You don't get any closer than that.
00:04:37Chelsea get a throw in.
00:04:46Brilliant, really.
00:04:48Very unlucky.
00:04:50His next goal will be
00:04:51his 150th for the club.
00:04:52It won't be long in coming,
00:04:55that's for sure.
00:05:08Rodri.
00:05:11Badia Shields touch.
00:05:14Rangas!
00:05:14Rangas!
00:05:18Great finish.
00:05:19That is a pretty
00:05:22devastating finish
00:05:24from Tijani.
00:05:35Haaland, the threat
00:05:36Badia Shields
00:05:37kept it from him
00:05:38but played it
00:05:39straight into Rinders.
00:05:41Is there a little flick
00:05:42off the Chelsea defender
00:05:44as it goes in?
00:05:47Rinders hits it beautifully.
00:05:49Might just be a touch
00:05:51off the toe
00:05:52of Badia Shields.
00:05:56Manchester City
00:05:57lead by a goal to nil.
00:06:02O'Reilly's cushioned
00:06:03headed down.
00:06:03Gusto's nicked it
00:06:04away from Rodri.
00:06:06Well won back
00:06:07by Guardiol.
00:06:08Now Rodri.
00:06:15And Cole Palmer.
00:06:17Guardiol is down.
00:06:19Pirouette and
00:06:25with the goal gaping
00:06:28and it really should
00:06:31be one each.
00:06:33Well, Guardiol was
00:06:34on the ground
00:06:35throughout that whole
00:06:36Chelsea attack
00:06:37which should have
00:06:38resulted in an
00:06:39equalising goal.
00:06:40Enzo Fernandes
00:06:43he has to get that
00:06:50on target.
00:06:55Enzo Fernandes
00:06:56got to boot in
00:06:57but Bernardo Silva
00:06:58would not be denied.
00:06:59Erling Haaland here.
00:07:01Great pace.
00:07:02Tearing away from
00:07:03Canaba.
00:07:03Brilliant run.
00:07:04Good block.
00:07:05Haaland still.
00:07:16O'Reilly has
00:07:17failed to keep
00:07:18the ball in play.
00:07:20I'll talk about
00:07:20explosive here.
00:07:22Erling Haaland
00:07:23collecting the ball
00:07:24couple of metres
00:07:25inside his own
00:07:26half
00:07:27and just driving
00:07:29on with enormous
00:07:30threat.
00:07:32Good block
00:07:32by Badia Schiel.
00:07:35Gianluigi Donnarumma
00:07:37forward to Erling Haaland
00:07:38beautifully cushioned.
00:07:40Cherki
00:07:40has got the pace
00:07:41to get away from
00:07:42Santos.
00:07:43Bernardo Silva's there.
00:07:44Brilliant recovery
00:07:45from Harto.
00:07:47Well, that's
00:07:47outstanding.
00:07:48Great flick here
00:07:51from Erling Haaland.
00:07:53Good pace
00:07:53by Cherki.
00:07:54Too much
00:07:55for Andres Santos.
00:07:56Look how much
00:07:57ground
00:07:57Jor-El Harto
00:07:58made up.
00:08:07Dilap and
00:08:07Cole Palmer
00:08:08and Enzo Fernandes
00:08:09getting forward.
00:08:11Here's Jor-El Harto.
00:08:12And Dilap
00:08:20good turn
00:08:21tight angled
00:08:22on a rumour save.
00:08:24And those
00:08:25nagging doubts
00:08:26about these
00:08:26three points
00:08:27from Manchester
00:08:27City continue.
00:08:30Chelsea
00:08:30have arguably
00:08:31been the more
00:08:32dangerous side
00:08:33in the second half.
00:08:35Well snubbered
00:08:36by the Italian.
00:08:41Certainly
00:08:41some anxiety
00:08:42around
00:08:42the Etihad
00:08:43right now
00:08:44as Enzo
00:08:45Fernandes
00:08:45finds
00:08:48Pedro Neto
00:08:49and
00:08:50Jor-El Harto.
00:08:52Harto's
00:08:52cross
00:08:53missed
00:08:53by
00:08:53Cole Palmer.
00:08:55And
00:08:56Dilap
00:08:56couldn't get
00:08:57anything
00:08:57really meaningful
00:08:58on it.
00:09:01That was
00:09:02a real
00:09:02opportunity
00:09:03for Cole Palmer.
00:09:05Chelsea
00:09:05have taken
00:09:06only two points
00:09:07from their
00:09:07last eight league
00:09:08games against
00:09:08Manchester City.
00:09:09They still
00:09:10live in hope
00:09:11of getting one
00:09:11from this.
00:09:13Rhys James
00:09:14six.
00:09:18Got away
00:09:19from O'Reilly.
00:09:20There's four
00:09:21in the middle
00:09:21for Chelsea.
00:09:22Gusteau,
00:09:23Dilap
00:09:23couldn't get there.
00:09:24Surely
00:09:24from Enzo
00:09:25Fernandes
00:09:26for Chelsea.
00:09:28It's one
00:09:29one.
00:09:29Donnarumma is beaten.
00:09:38Fernandes scores.
00:09:39Chelsea and
00:09:40Arsenal
00:09:41celebrate
00:09:42an Enzo
00:09:44Fernandes
00:09:45equaliser.
00:09:47There is
00:09:47a check,
00:09:49of course,
00:09:49possible offside.
00:09:51Enzo
00:09:53Fernandes
00:09:54at the second
00:09:55attempt
00:09:55prodded it
00:09:56into the
00:09:57back of the
00:09:57net.
00:09:57and the goal
00:10:00will stand.
00:10:03It's
00:10:03Manchester City
00:10:04won,
00:10:05Chelsea
00:10:05won.
00:10:08Pep,
00:10:08very frustrating
00:10:09finish to the
00:10:10game.
00:10:10It felt like
00:10:11the control
00:10:12got away from
00:10:13you a little
00:10:13bit.
00:10:14Because first
00:10:15half,
00:10:16you were one
00:10:16niller,
00:10:17but could have
00:10:17been more.
00:10:18Control go away
00:10:19for what?
00:10:20Well,
00:10:20I felt you
00:10:21were completely
00:10:22in control
00:10:22of the game
00:10:23at half-time.
00:10:24And they
00:10:24changed shape
00:10:25a little bit
00:10:26and the
00:10:26momentum of
00:10:27the game
00:10:27changed a bit.
00:10:29I'm not
00:10:29agreeing,
00:10:30but it's
00:10:30OK.
00:10:31They scored a
00:10:31goal,
00:10:32that's why
00:10:32you analyze
00:10:33the results.
00:10:34Of course,
00:10:34they make a
00:10:34step up,
00:10:35we make
00:10:35more intense
00:10:36in the
00:10:37pressing.
00:10:38They had
00:10:38the chances
00:10:38because we
00:10:39lost two
00:10:39balls in the
00:10:40beginning of
00:10:41the second
00:10:41half.
00:10:42But if
00:10:43you believe
00:10:43they shift
00:10:44the momentum,
00:10:45OK,
00:10:45you maybe
00:10:46knows better
00:10:47than me.
00:10:47We started
00:10:48really well
00:10:48especially
00:10:49the first
00:10:49half.
00:10:50The second
00:10:50half,
00:10:50it was a
00:10:51bit more
00:10:51open and
00:10:51went more
00:10:52up and
00:10:52down.
00:10:53And still
00:10:53we created
00:10:54some big
00:10:54opportunities
00:10:55and yeah,
00:10:56disappointed
00:10:57that we
00:10:57conceded
00:10:58the goal
00:10:59so late.
00:11:00So we
00:11:01will know
00:11:01the week
00:11:01we've had
00:11:02but the
00:11:02boys were
00:11:03focused
00:11:03and yeah,
00:11:04in life
00:11:04you either
00:11:05drop your
00:11:06heads or
00:11:06you keep
00:11:07going.
00:11:08And for
00:11:08us we
00:11:08knew what
00:11:09the game
00:11:09plan was
00:11:10today.
00:11:11We knew
00:11:11what we
00:11:11wanted
00:11:11and yeah,
00:11:12we done
00:11:12well to
00:11:13get the
00:11:13point.
00:11:14It's
00:11:14credit to
00:11:14the
00:11:14players.
00:11:16Imagine
00:11:16what they're
00:11:16feeling at
00:11:17half-time.
00:11:18Manchester
00:11:19City were
00:11:19a much
00:11:19better team
00:11:20in the
00:11:20first half.
00:11:20Interim
00:11:21coach,
00:11:21all the
00:11:21change
00:11:22that's
00:11:22gone on,
00:11:22all the
00:11:23injuries
00:11:23we've
00:11:23had,
00:11:24but the
00:11:24character
00:11:24they've
00:11:25shown and
00:11:25they've
00:11:26shown it
00:11:26all week
00:11:26like
00:11:27Rhys,
00:11:27Enzo,
00:11:28Tosin,
00:11:28but the
00:11:29leaders in
00:11:29the group
00:11:29have really
00:11:30pulled it
00:11:30together.
00:11:31So it's
00:11:32a special
00:11:32group of
00:11:33players.
00:11:34A
00:11:34frustrated
00:11:35Pep Guardiola
00:11:36there because
00:11:36City have
00:11:36dropped four
00:11:37points in
00:11:38their last
00:11:38two matches
00:11:39but Callum
00:11:39McFarlane
00:11:40there had a
00:11:40game plan
00:11:41to frustrate
00:11:42them and
00:11:42it worked
00:11:43largely in
00:11:43the first
00:11:43half.
00:11:44Yeah,
00:11:44a rookie
00:11:44manager,
00:11:45you know,
00:11:45one chance
00:11:46in a lifetime
00:11:46to manage
00:11:47the
00:11:47team.
00:11:54But at the
00:11:54same time,
00:11:55this is a
00:11:55game plan
00:11:56here.
00:11:56We've seen
00:11:56this for
00:11:56most of
00:11:57the first
00:11:58half.
00:11:58You see
00:11:58a 5-4-1
00:11:59formation,
00:12:00Gabby,
00:12:00and now
00:12:01you're asking
00:12:01City,
00:12:01are they good
00:12:02enough to
00:12:03play through
00:12:03these lines,
00:12:04play through
00:12:04the forwards,
00:12:05they're really
00:12:05nice and
00:12:05compact.
00:12:06And you
00:12:06know,
00:12:07Callum
00:12:07McFarlane
00:12:08would have
00:12:08worked on
00:12:08this,
00:12:08leading up
00:12:09to the
00:12:09game.
00:12:12This time
00:12:15Reinders
00:12:16receives the
00:12:17ball,
00:12:18Achimpong
00:12:18jumps out,
00:12:20but you see
00:12:20then,
00:12:20this opportunity
00:12:21they do get
00:12:22in,
00:12:22but again,
00:12:22they've got
00:12:22enough players
00:12:23back in a
00:12:24defensive position
00:12:24to clear the
00:12:25danger.
00:12:26You see in
00:12:26the middle,
00:12:26we'll see
00:12:26Haaland,
00:12:27you know,
00:12:272v1,
00:12:28there's plenty
00:12:28of bodies
00:12:29back,
00:12:30enough to
00:12:30defend the
00:12:30cross,
00:12:31and again,
00:12:31they look
00:12:31at some
00:12:40stage,
00:12:40you'll have
00:12:40to feel a
00:12:40punch it,
00:12:41when you go
00:12:41to Manchester,
00:12:42so you see
00:12:42here,
00:12:43they commit
00:12:43six bodies
00:12:44forward,
00:12:44Gabby,
00:12:45that's great
00:12:45if he can
00:12:46get a shot
00:12:46off or get
00:12:47a goal,
00:12:47but what it
00:12:47does do,
00:12:48if he won't
00:12:49and you think
00:12:55they've escaped
00:12:55the danger,
00:12:56but they never
00:12:57go back into
00:12:57that 5-4-1
00:12:59formation that
00:12:59we spoke about
00:13:00just previously,
00:13:01and City,
00:13:01again,
00:13:02we know how
00:13:02decisive they
00:13:03are in forward
00:13:03positions,
00:13:04they move the
00:13:05ball really
00:13:05quickly,
00:13:05get...
00:13:12a better look,
00:13:15a better break,
00:13:16and you think
00:13:16Reinders on your
00:13:17left foot,
00:13:18you know,
00:13:18it's a brilliant
00:13:19finish from him
00:13:19because he's
00:13:20right-footed,
00:13:20and it's a fantastic
00:13:21finish,
00:13:21but again,
00:13:22defensively,
00:13:23I think Chelsea
00:13:24were really strong
00:13:25today.
00:13:25He didn't think
00:13:28there was a
00:13:28momentum shift,
00:13:29but we certainly
00:13:29think there was,
00:13:30because 1-0 down
00:13:31at half-time,
00:13:32McFarlane wasn't
00:13:32afraid to make
00:13:33tactical changes.
00:13:34No, I think fair
00:13:35play to him,
00:13:35because the easiest
00:13:36part of a manager's
00:13:37job is when you've
00:13:38got time,
00:13:38so when you've got
00:13:39the week to build
00:13:40your prep,
00:13:40like the bit that
00:13:41Shea's just covered
00:13:41there,
00:13:42you've got days.
00:13:48He didn't back out
00:13:49of making that call,
00:13:50you know,
00:13:50to take Esteval off,
00:13:52to shift the shape,
00:13:53you can see it here,
00:13:54they've moved
00:13:54Gusto back into
00:13:55his high right-back
00:13:56position rather than
00:13:57being on the left.
00:13:59Esteval has been
00:14:00withdrawn,
00:14:00they've put Santos
00:14:01on to play in that
00:14:02double pivot,
00:14:02and it's allowed
00:14:03Enzo to play higher
00:14:04up the pitch,
00:14:05and then he used
00:14:05that freedom
00:14:06in the World Man
00:14:07City real quick.
00:14:12Like he did so well
00:14:13against PSG in the
00:14:14Club World Cup,
00:14:15and now Enzo just
00:14:16using that running
00:14:16power,
00:14:17you know,
00:14:18and he's able to
00:14:18break forward and
00:14:19show great quality,
00:14:20and then Neto will
00:14:21be disappointed with
00:14:22that,
00:14:22because I know he's
00:14:22better than that
00:14:23from those areas,
00:14:24and then the
00:14:25introduction of
00:14:25Liam de Lapp as
00:14:26well had a real
00:14:27impact on him.
00:14:32While driving the
00:14:33team forward,
00:14:34wouldn't have been
00:14:34able to do that in
00:14:35the first half from
00:14:36the lower position he
00:14:37was in,
00:14:37bit of a longer
00:14:38clip,
00:14:39but they managed to
00:14:39sustain the pressure,
00:14:41get Enzo on the
00:14:41ball again in a
00:14:42high position,
00:14:43and a great ball
00:14:44into Liam de Lapp,
00:14:44and he did cause the
00:14:45centre-backs problems
00:14:46when he came on
00:14:47Liam,
00:14:47although Manchester City
00:14:48did lose their
00:14:49two in Guardiola
00:14:50and Diaz,
00:14:52they did cause the
00:14:54two that came on
00:14:55real problems,
00:14:56and then Gusto,
00:14:56high right-back,
00:14:57he's much better on
00:14:58that side than he is
00:14:59on the left,
00:15:0094th minute,
00:15:01Enzo still using
00:15:02his power and his
00:15:03running power to get
00:15:03himself in a position
00:15:05that allows Chelsea
00:15:06to take a well-earned
00:15:08point away from the
00:15:09Etihad,
00:15:09which is no mean
00:15:10feat for an interim
00:15:11manager on his first
00:15:12day in charge.
00:15:12Yeah,
00:15:13sixth goal of the
00:15:14season,
00:15:14look what it means
00:15:14to him there,
00:15:15and there were some
00:15:15lovely scenes at the
00:15:16end as well,
00:15:16we saw with Rhys James
00:15:17obviously making him
00:15:19go over to the
00:15:19Chelsea fans,
00:15:20and you can see as a
00:15:21manager that must be
00:15:22enormously gratifying
00:15:23when you see the
00:15:24difference your
00:15:24changes have made.
00:15:25Yeah,
00:15:26and that should not
00:15:27be underestimated
00:15:27because that's
00:15:28difficult,
00:15:28he alluded to it in
00:15:29his post-match
00:15:30speech there around
00:15:31how the players
00:15:32would be feeling,
00:15:33you know,
00:15:33you've been completely
00:15:34dominated by
00:15:35Manchester City,
00:15:35you just do that
00:15:36to teams,
00:15:37and then to be able
00:15:38to make a change
00:15:39and be able to make
00:15:39the players believe in
00:15:40that change,
00:15:41and then to produce
00:15:42numbers like that,
00:15:43XG,
00:15:43shots,
00:15:44everything up,
00:15:45touches in the
00:15:45opposition box,
00:15:47so Pep might not
00:15:48have felt the
00:15:48momentum change
00:15:49quite so much,
00:15:50but the stats
00:15:51definitely showed
00:15:51that there was one.
00:15:52Yeah,
00:15:52it might be a short
00:15:53tenure as interim
00:15:54manager because
00:15:55reports are,
00:15:56and we understand
00:15:56that Liam Rosinia
00:15:58is already in London
00:15:59ready to be announced
00:16:00as Chelsea manager
00:16:00tomorrow,
00:16:01the Strasbourg
00:16:01manager currently
00:16:03where he's been
00:16:04managing and doing
00:16:05fairly well,
00:16:06Shea as well,
00:16:07153 matches in his
00:16:08managerial career today,
00:16:10including Hull.
00:16:11So not the most
00:16:12experienced.
00:16:13No,
00:16:13but I think this is
00:16:14Liam's dream.
00:16:15I think all his life
00:16:16is that he's managed
00:16:16at the very highest
00:16:17level,
00:16:17and at Chelsea
00:16:18is one of the biggest
00:16:19jobs you'll get
00:16:19in the Premier League
00:16:21and maybe in world
00:16:21football,
00:16:22and I think he's ready.
00:16:23He's managed 153 games,
00:16:25he's done his
00:16:25apprenticeship,
00:16:26and he's ready to go.
00:16:27He managed a young
00:16:28Strasbourg team as well,
00:16:29got them into
00:16:30European competition,
00:16:32and I think he'll
00:16:33be buzzing.
00:16:34You talk about the
00:16:35squad of players
00:16:35that Chelsea have,
00:16:36I know they've spent
00:16:37a lot of money,
00:16:38but they've spent well.
00:16:39He's worked with
00:16:39young players at
00:16:40Strasbourg before,
00:16:41and I think he's eager
00:16:42to jump into this
00:16:43position.
00:16:43The group own
00:16:44Strasbourg and Chelsea,
00:16:45they know how he works,
00:16:46they like the way he
00:16:47sets his team up there,
00:16:48he knows how they work,
00:16:49that's important.
00:16:50Yeah,
00:16:50it will be important,
00:16:51and that will be a key
00:16:52part to him taking the
00:16:53role, I think,
00:16:53and he's,
00:16:54you know,
00:16:54the Premier League's
00:16:55tough,
00:16:56and he'll find that out,
00:16:57but it's much easier
00:16:58doing it with Chelsea
00:16:59and the top players
00:17:00that you have
00:17:00available to you.
00:17:01There may be an
00:17:01introduction to the
00:17:02Premier League for a
00:17:03promotion with a newly
00:17:04promoted side,
00:17:04so he's going to get a
00:17:05fantastic opportunity
00:17:06at a top club,
00:17:07and obviously we'll
00:17:09see very soon
00:17:09whether he's ready
00:17:10to grasp it.
00:17:12Five more games to come
00:17:13from Sunday after
00:17:14December's goal of the
00:17:15month.
00:17:15It's Cherky again.
00:17:27Pass comes here to Diaz,
00:17:28he's slammed it,
00:17:29oh, what a goal!
00:17:32What a strike!
00:17:34That was Vincent
00:17:35company-esque.
00:17:37Well, it was a belter.
00:17:38Oh, what a goal!
00:17:55The link-up play is
00:17:57absolutely sumptuous here.
00:18:00It is perfection.
00:18:01A bit of space here
00:18:10for Morgan Rodgers.
00:18:11Might have a go at goal!
00:18:12And it's a brilliant
00:18:13strike!
00:18:19Rodgers in a lot of space,
00:18:21and how about that
00:18:21for a finish?
00:18:26This wild curse
00:18:28it's got me feeling
00:18:30like it's gone on.
00:18:41What a strike!
00:18:42Well, that's an absolute belter.
00:18:44Always looks good, doesn't it,
00:18:45when it comes in
00:18:46off the post.
00:18:51Pre-kick, which
00:18:52Chelsea hope
00:18:54will be a profitable one.
00:18:55Rhys James!
00:18:56Oh, it is!
00:18:58It's outstanding
00:18:59from Rhys James!
00:19:03Because that was
00:19:04inch-perfect.
00:19:11Again,
00:19:12given the ball
00:19:13in a
00:19:13precarious position,
00:19:15but he's
00:19:15kept hold of it.
00:19:18And Morgan Rodgers
00:19:18has kept it in.
00:19:20Head down,
00:19:21it's Rodgers!
00:19:22Rodgers!
00:19:25It's an absolute
00:19:26ripper!
00:19:27He should never
00:19:29score from there.
00:19:30From that position,
00:19:31Rodgers in red-hot form.
00:19:38Dallon with the
00:19:39long throw.
00:19:41Valtemar does
00:19:42head it.
00:19:43Dorgue!
00:19:43What a memorable way
00:19:50to score your first
00:19:51Manchester United goal.
00:19:53where will you feel?
00:19:57Can you feel it?
00:19:59Can you feel it?
00:19:59Can you feel it?
00:20:01I'm just
00:20:01pressing.
00:20:02I'm just
00:20:03pressing.
00:20:07It's not that well, though.
00:20:11Stack,
00:20:11super ball from him,
00:20:13out to Aronson.
00:20:13It's a fabulous team goal.

00:20:53Having won three of their last four,
00:20:57Fulham faced a Liverpool side unbeaten in seven in the Premier League.
00:21:00Stephen Wyeth, watch this one.
00:21:03As the temperature has plummeted,
00:21:05Fulham and Liverpool have stayed hot, two form sides.
00:21:10The hosts endeavour to keep it up with three changes.
00:21:12Kenny Tete is injured, so Timothy Castagne replaces him.
00:21:17Issa Diop returns and Tom Cairney's reward for the equaliser at Palace
00:21:21is a rare league star.
00:21:23Liverpool's form is their best since spring,
00:21:26but they too are stretched.
00:21:27A minor hamstring issue means no Ugo Eketike.
00:21:31Cody Gagpo starts instead.
00:21:33Alexis McAllister and Miloš Kyrkjez
00:21:35replace Jeremy Fringpong and Andy Robinson.
00:21:41Underway a bit behind schedule today at Craven Cottage.
00:21:45A 15-minute delay due to a medical emergency.
00:21:48Not necessarily a fixture you would associate with Premier League heritage,
00:21:53but Fulham against Liverpool in recent times has been a blast.
00:21:59Curtis Jones.
00:22:01Gagpo's made his run and the flag has stayed down.
00:22:04Cody Gagpo is in.
00:22:05And the shot has only just bobbled wide.
00:22:11And it's the kind of chance that really should have at least resulted in a testing of the Fulham goalkeeper.
00:22:18Bernd Leno could watch it go harmlessly wide.
00:22:23And on a slot side on their best run of unbeaten form since their last visit to Craven Cottage.
00:22:30And Fulham have really bided their time before looking to pounce on Liverpool.
00:22:54And it very nearly happened for them perfectly.
00:23:00On field decision was offside.
00:23:08But now the VAR Andy Madley is going to get involved.
00:23:13Because Virgil van Dijk and Miloš Kyrkjez both look like they might have been playing Wilson onside.
00:23:20And Fulham are about to receive some very good news, some very welcome news.
00:23:28Because the on-field decision was wrong and Fulham do lead, courtesy of a former Liverpool player.
00:23:37Harry Wilson in sparkling recent form in front of goal has scored again.
00:23:42Well, for a moment it looked like it was too good to be true when Wilson was bearing down on goal.
00:23:48That was certainly the initial verdict of the referee's assistant.
00:23:54But confirmation, Virgil van Dijk, the one that was playing him on.
00:23:58And that splendid finish, beyond the reach of Alisson, is the goal to make it Fulham 1-0 Liverpool.
00:24:05Since the start of November, only the top three in the Premier League have picked up more points than Fulham.
00:24:14And Fulham remains an option.
00:24:22Fulham remain well organised.
00:24:28From Xobajlai, charged down by Smithrow, corner kick.
00:24:38Xobajlai, and headed against the crossbar, Anderson there.
00:24:44Now appeals for a penalty, Fulham survive.
00:24:49McAllister levelling things up.
00:25:02Bradley, pouncing on a loose ball and driving at Fulham.
00:25:06And finding Florian Betts.
00:25:10And once again,
00:25:11position Florian Betts this time,
00:25:21the unlucky player in red.
00:25:24And apparently did tremendously well.
00:25:26Arguably deserved an assist for his contribution,
00:25:28but Betts
00:25:29was just beyond Issa Diop.
00:25:32This is just being cleared up.
00:25:34Just in case Diop's trailing leg was beyond the outstretched right boot of Florian Vertz at the critical moment.
00:25:46Once again, the on-field decision is going to be overturned.
00:25:50Liverpool have an equaliser and Florian Vertz has another Liverpool goal.
00:25:56It has been delivered at a critical moment.
00:26:00Belated jubilation in the away end is a muted celebration from Liverpool who know there is still work to be done.
00:26:08Issa Diop adjudged to have just been playing.
00:26:12Florian Vertz onside.
00:26:14And just as in the first half of Fulham,
00:26:18Liverpool's goal has taken some unpicking.
00:26:21But the decision is to award it.
00:26:23And it's Fulham 1, Liverpool 1.
00:26:29We'll want more than a point now.
00:26:31So dominant have his side been in this second half.
00:26:36Bradley.
00:26:37Robinson.
00:26:43Super pass.
00:26:44Val Jimenez looks to be in.
00:26:47Alisson has come.
00:26:48Not dealt with it.
00:26:49Wilson!
00:26:51Off the bar.
00:26:52Who'll get there first?
00:26:53Virgil van Dijk.
00:27:02Effectively, Harry Wilson looking to add to his first half goal.
00:27:06Denied by the crossbar.
00:27:08And Van Dijk.
00:27:16To the top four and Fulham into European contention themselves.
00:27:20Each of the two.
00:27:22That's the greater desire in the quality.
00:27:25To turn the draw into three points.
00:27:30Time running out.
00:27:31But there is still time.
00:27:33Kravendare.
00:27:38And Bradley for Frimpong.
00:27:41Quality cross required.
00:27:43And that is a quality cross.
00:27:47Which looks to have produced a match-winning moment for Cody Gapop.
00:27:51Liverpool lead having been behind and in stoppage time at Craven Cottage appear to have got the job done.
00:28:04The man asked to fulfil the role of centre-forward today has responded with a goal at a critical moment.
00:28:11A vicious delivery that Gapop was alert to showing the instincts required.
00:28:27That looks to have secured for them a fifth win in eight.
00:28:30Having scored and having been cautioned as a consequence.
00:28:38Cody Gapop is going to be withdrawn.
00:28:41But he can leave with the acclaim of the travelling support.
00:28:44Robinson's throw to Kevin.
00:28:57And then we'll feel the defeat is harsh on them.
00:29:00Harrison Reid from distance!
00:29:01And well moment from Harrison Reid.
00:29:14Just as the points look gone for Fulham.
00:29:17They have responded almost immediately.
00:29:21In the groove, Fulham.
00:29:23They simply don't know at the moment when they are beaten.
00:29:26Sent on to provide some midfield energy late in the game.
00:29:31And instead, it is Harrison Reid who has scored the most improbable late equaliser.
00:29:39A near-perfect strike.
00:29:41Better than anything he could possibly have dreamed of delivering.
00:29:45An exceptional goal to make it Fulham 2, Liverpool 2.
00:29:51Have you ever hit a ball better than that?
00:29:54It fell nice off the foot and then I was just praying it went in the top corner.
00:29:58To see it dip in, obviously, circumstances as well.
00:30:00What an amazing feeling.
00:30:02I will tell you, I've been practising and training.
00:30:04The boys know it.
00:30:05They've seen it as well.
00:30:06So I just had to get my chance.
00:30:08He says he's been practising.
00:30:09Is that what you sent him on to do?
00:30:11It's not the first time that you see it, to be honest.
00:30:13Yesterday, of course, is a moment that they use in the end of the minus one session
00:30:18to do it something.
00:30:19Of course, if you ask me, I didn't put him thinking that he's going to score that goal.
00:30:24But of course, that is poor inspiration from him and he deserves all the greatness.
00:30:27I think we fought very hard in the second half.
00:30:30We were dominating at moments, trying to create chances to go through.
00:30:35And at the end, I scored, I think, 90 plus five.
00:30:38The moment I sat down on the bench, they scored a wonderful goal, to be fair.
00:30:42We were 2-1 up and having to defend a long throw-in, which we expected.
00:30:48And we brought Joe Gomez in because he's, of course, he's very good for the air.
00:30:53But they didn't take it long.
00:30:55They took it short.
00:30:57And it was an incredible strike.
00:30:58The boys should deserve to get a reward once in a while.
00:31:02But unfortunately, we don't get it.
00:31:04And the only ones to blame is ourselves as well, because we concede in these moments.
00:31:09But fighting so hard to be 2-1 up, it's unbelievable that every time then the ball goes in, in the end.
00:31:16But it was a truly magnificent goal.
00:31:20Harrison Reid coming in with the heroics of Harrison Ford with that goal.
00:31:24At 92 minutes, he comes on the pitch.
00:31:2696 minutes, I think you just need to wax lyrical.
00:31:28Yeah, I don't think Marco Silva brought him off the bench for this.
00:31:31Probably just to maybe sew it up or to try and give it a bit of balance in midfield if Liverpool break away.
00:31:36But he set up for a long throw.
00:31:37He's Arnest lost.
00:31:38But Reid comes into the picture.
00:31:39I mean, you know you let the pictures do this justice.
00:31:42This is just a phenomenal strike.
00:31:43But it's quite funny, Harrison said, after that, I've practiced this in training.
00:31:46But again, like, this roider-over stuff, it really is.
00:31:49To get that much dip in movement and Swaz, Alisson's got absolutely no chance at all.
00:31:53And see if it just pops up as he hits it there.
00:31:55This is an unbelievable strike.
00:31:58I mean, Gary, you maybe weren't overly happy with the Liverpool defending.
00:32:00Yeah, no, and I understand they're set up for a long throw.
00:32:03But as soon as Fulham don't throw it long, you have to react to this 4v2.
00:32:07You know, some of them Liverpool players in the penalty area need to get up and get some pressure on the ball.
00:32:11You can't leave that 4v2 for that long.
00:32:14And, of course, you don't expect to be punished like this.
00:32:16But, boy, did Harrison be punished in a hell of a strike.
00:32:19I'm not sure many of his practices went where that one went.
00:32:21But the one that mattered did.
00:32:23Now, there's no Alexander Isak we know for Liverpool for a few months.
00:32:27Eketike out at the moment.
00:32:28Could be back later this week for the Arsenal game on Thursday.
00:32:31It's a short-term injury.
00:32:32So, Cody Gakpo playing in a more central role today.
00:32:35What did you make of his performance?
00:32:36Yeah, I didn't mind it.
00:32:37Actually, you know, I think Arnislav talked about maybe in front of the goal we struggled.
00:32:40But I think Gakpo done well.
00:32:42You keep an eye on him here on the left-hand side.
00:32:44But he actually bends his run here as a centre forward you want to do.
00:32:47And he gets through on goal.
00:32:48I mean, it's just not a great finish at the end of that on his weaker left foot.
00:32:51Of course, we know him cutting in on his right.
00:32:52He's very strong.
00:32:53But, again, look how central the goal.
00:32:55And, again, this is a brilliant header.
00:32:56Heads it back where it came from.
00:32:57Just a little bit unlucky that it's come back off the woodwork.
00:33:00But great movement from him.
00:33:01And then, again, we show that he's involved in the goal.
00:33:03I think latter parts of the stage he went out to the left side.
00:33:05Kiesa went up more central.
00:33:06But he's not happy just to be getting involved in the build-up.
00:33:08Gabby's thinking, right, can we score a goal?
00:33:10He makes himself 94, 95 minutes.
00:33:12Brilliant ball from Frimpong.
00:33:14And where is he?
00:33:14Number nine in the middle of the six-yard box where you want him to be.
00:33:17And he tucks it away nicely.
00:33:19And, again, he thinks he's got the winning goal at this stage before Mr. Reid stepped up and stole the party off him.
00:33:25But I was happy with Gakpo how he played.
00:33:27He says he's played before there for PSV.
00:33:29He's played there for the Netherlands as well.
00:33:30So I think he knows the position.
00:33:32OK, there was a lot of noise online about Florian Wurz's goal.
00:33:36Of course, during the match, it was checked for offside.
00:33:39And to the naked eye, there are angles where it does look offside.
00:33:42Now, from a semi-automated kind of opinion and position, they're happy that with the tolerance that they have with the lines, that it is onside.
00:33:51Because the advantage when the lines touch between the last player and the defender is about five centimetres.
00:33:58And it's given to the attacking player that kind of advantage.
00:34:00Are you happy?
00:34:01All the best, Gary.
00:34:02Gabby's done quite well explaining that there.
00:34:04I've had my own battles with VAR and trying to guess as a manager whether it's on or off.
00:34:10But they did make the lines thicker four years ago, I think, to try and give an advantage.
00:34:14But I think all of us would say that on the naked eye, Florian Wurz's foot looks ahead of Diop's there.
00:34:22Florian Wurz looks like he's just drifted into that lighter cut of grass.
00:34:25Whereas we would say Diop looks firmly planted in the darker cut.
00:34:29So you would say that this is probably going to be disallowed for offside at this moment.
00:34:34But then when it then turns to the semi-automated view, you can see it doesn't quite look the same.
00:34:40And it looks like Florian Wurz has managed just to stay the right side of Diop.
00:34:46And whether that tolerance, we don't have the privilege of seeing the lines here,
00:34:50but whether that tolerance of about five centimetres has led to this goal standing is a possibility.
00:34:55But Florian Wurz needs the goal, to be fair to him.
00:34:58Fulham won't be so pleased with it, but a big goal for Florian Wurz.
00:35:01Marco Silva's reaction seems quite measured.
00:35:04Yeah, I guess the Harrison Reid goal probably takes the edge off it a little bit for him.
00:35:08And I think as managers and coaches, in the end, you have to accept that the technology is there to do its job.
00:35:15And we have to accept that at the moment it's doing the best job that it possibly can.
00:35:18And it's being interpreted in the best way possible.
00:35:20You mentioned that it's been a few years now that that has been the way they've been viewed.
00:35:23And actually, the Premier League is the only major league left in Europe that is doing that.
00:35:27The others are still kind of working or are working to the toenail.
00:35:30Yeah, so a strong possibility that maybe would have been disallowed in some of the other major leagues around Europe.
00:35:35But as it is at the moment, the technology has got that one right for us and cleared up a very tight decision.
00:35:39You say cleared up. I mean, we're talking about it.
00:35:41Yeah, yeah. Cleared up to the best of the planet.
00:35:44OK. Next, Leeds United and Manchester United renew their War of the Roses
00:35:48as the Reds cross the Pennines to play the Whites of Yorkshire.
00:35:52Your commentator is Guy Mowbray.
00:35:53After today, every team in the Premier League will have faced all the others this season.
00:36:01The opponents Leeds look for first are the ones they've had to wait for longest.
00:36:07There are two changes to the Leeds line-up from their New Year's Day draw at Liverpool
00:36:10with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor coming back in to start.
00:36:15Lucas Mecha is a substitute.
00:36:17Captain Ethan Ampadu ruled out suspended.
00:36:19And Jadon Bogle is out with a calf injury.
00:36:22For the visiting United, only one difference to their team in names
00:36:26as Leni Jouro replaces Joshua Zergzi.
00:36:29He's on the bench alongside five teenagers
00:36:32with a whole raft of senior players once again absent.
00:36:39Leeds waiting to play.
00:36:41Manchester United pales away compared with waiting to beat them.
00:36:45They haven't done that in nine Premier League meetings
00:36:47and in seven overall since Jermaine Beckford's 1-0 winner
00:36:51for then League One Leeds at Old Trafford.
00:36:5416 years ago yesterday.
00:36:57Lammans.
00:36:58Nice easy stroke of the ball.
00:37:01Offside flag is raised as Matthias Cunha has a go
00:37:04and scores in fine style, but it's not going to count.
00:37:08And I'm pretty sure he was offside.
00:37:17Maybe not Matthias Cunha, but I'm pretty certain Czesko was
00:37:22and he went for the ball to try and help it on.
00:37:25Whether he touched it or not is largely irrelevant.
00:37:2622 minutes in and Leeds United pay tribute to Joshua Pick who died suddenly aged 22 recently.
00:37:40A lead season ticket holder from six years old.
00:37:43His dad and sister are here at the game today and we wish them all well.
00:37:48Justin, Calvert-Lewin shielding his eyes from the low sun.
00:37:56Here's Strouk.
00:37:59Stack.
00:38:01Calvert-Lewin!
00:38:02Off the post.
00:38:04So close to scoring again.
00:38:09He was inches away from being 1-0 leads through their number nine once more.
00:38:14Just what a striker in Dominic Calvert-Lewin's form would want.
00:38:18Only needed just a little bit more head on ball.
00:38:25That clears Bourne out.
00:38:27Cunha.
00:38:28Shaw.
00:38:30Two in the box for Cunha.
00:38:31Dorgu can't attack it though.
00:38:34It's turned behind by Gudmundsson.
00:38:36And after a spell of Leeds being in the ascendancy, it might be Manchester United's turn for a bit now.
00:38:44Luke Shaw to take the corner.
00:38:47It's a deep one.
00:38:49And it's Casemiro and saved by Lucas Perry.
00:38:52Brilliant reaction stop.
00:38:55Casemiro on to Lenni-Jauro just trying to divert it.
00:38:59All he could do there was get it goal-bound.
00:39:01He did that.
00:39:02Lucas Perry in the right place.
00:39:07A game that needs a creative spark.
00:39:10A game that needs a player of Eddie Gray's abilities.
00:39:13He made his Leeds United debut 60 years ago.
00:39:161st of January 1966, 3-0 against Sheffield Wednesday.
00:39:20He scored one and he made two before assists were a thing.
00:39:24What a player.
00:39:25What a player.
00:39:25What a player.
00:39:27Stroke.
00:39:29Heaven has a look.
00:39:30Aronson is closing in.
00:39:32And Aronson is there first.
00:39:34And finishes.
00:39:38Ellen Road has erupted.
00:39:39Brendan Aronson's non-stop running has got reward.
00:39:50Aidan Heaven caught cold.
00:39:52A moment for all these young and old to absolutely love.
00:39:59Aronson has not always been flavor of the month here.
00:40:03Right now at this minute.
00:40:05He's the toast of the town.
00:40:07He wanted it just that bit more.
00:40:09But then he had to find the composure to put it in.
00:40:13Brilliantly dispatched.
00:40:15And it's Leeds United 1, Manchester United 0.
00:40:19And Manchester United now feel the need to make a change.
00:40:22Leni Jorow is off.
00:40:23Joshua Zerksy comes on.
00:40:26Well, Aidan Heaven has performed really well
00:40:28in these seven games now in a row that he started.
00:40:32But there was an aberration.
00:40:34You can't switch off in the Premier League.
00:40:36And in this fixture of all fixtures,
00:40:38you absolutely must be on it at every second.
00:40:43Zerksy looking for Cunha.
00:40:46And Cunha has slid in and slotted it past Lucas Perry.
00:40:51It's 1-1.
00:40:54Leeds turn to get it all wrong in defense.
00:40:58This is one of huge importance for Manchester United.
00:41:03Szczesko won it, laid it off to Zerksy.
00:41:06He played a perfectly weighted pass for Cunha.
00:41:10And not for the first time, Cunha found himself free.
00:41:13And just like Aronson at the other end,
00:41:16well, how good was the finish?
00:41:18The game has been plugged in.
00:41:21From 0-0 to 1-1.
00:41:25In just under three minutes.
00:41:27Okafor on his way.
00:41:33Calvert-Lewin in the middle, but so is Heaven.
00:41:35Behold got a help on to that.
00:41:49Good try, good save.
00:41:52Lehmann's forced to spring into action
00:41:54after Okafor's acrobatic attempt.
00:41:59Great try.
00:42:00So Alex Ferguson was 84 on New Year's Eve.
00:42:07He was never going to miss this one.
00:42:11Dalo.
00:42:15Lugate.
00:42:16Zerksy.
00:42:18Now Matthias Cunha.
00:42:19Luke Shaw is an extra center forward in this move.
00:42:21Here's Zerksy.
00:42:23Zerksy across.
00:42:24Szczesko's effort is wide.
00:42:25He made good contact with the ball.
00:42:30Just maybe hit it too straight.
00:42:32Planted firmly wide of the post.
00:42:35Big chance for Manchester United to take the lead.
00:42:41Behold's header goes straight to Cunha.
00:42:43Zerksy gets it through the legs for Zerksy.
00:42:46Now it's Dorgut.
00:42:47Cunha wants it.
00:42:48Cunha has the try.
00:42:50Oh, was it saved or just wide?
00:42:52Look at the curl on that from Cunha.
00:42:58So, so close to making it 2-1 Manchester United.
00:43:04It's Justin who heads forward to Nyonto.
00:43:09Lovely ball from Nyonto.
00:43:11Here's Stack.
00:43:12Pirou to the right.
00:43:13Stack finds him.
00:43:15Pirou!
00:43:16Under the roof.
00:43:19Made his mind up before the ball came to him.
00:43:22That that's what he was going to try to do.
00:43:25Not far away at all.
00:43:29And it is full time at Elland Road.
00:43:32Leeds draw for a third game in a row.
00:43:35There's seven unbeaten now.
00:43:38Manchester United have only lost one of their last eight.
00:43:42They're much more resilient away from home these days.
00:43:45Leeds United won.
00:43:46Manchester United won.
00:43:47We are a bit disappointed because it was possible also to win this game.
00:43:52You could feel that we were a bit tired today.
00:43:55And also we're missing many key players.
00:43:58It was probably football-wise not our best performance.
00:44:00But we found still a way to defend really well and to go in need.
00:44:04And it was definitely possible also to win this game for that.
00:44:06We are a bit disappointed.
00:44:07But on the other hand, it shows also and says a lot that you are disappointed with just one point against Man United as a promoted side.
00:44:14An important point for us, we talk about this, the resilience.
00:44:18And then everyone knows it's so important to the players who miss today.
00:44:23But we have a big character on the team.
00:44:25We need to use the shirt and then show everything on the pitch.
00:44:28And I think we did it.
00:44:30And then I hope we can do much more the next game.
00:44:33Yeah, we're going to take it with a ton of confidence because where we've been the last month of games that we've had.
00:44:37I mean, going to Liverpool, coming back home, two away games and Sunderland, too.
00:44:42They're not easy places to go to.
00:44:43So to stay unbeaten, I think we could even have more points from these games.
00:44:46So we just need to keep going from here.
00:44:49Well, after the match, Ruben Amarim said this in his press conference.
00:44:52I just want to say that I'm going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach.
00:44:58And I was really clear on that.
00:45:01And that is going to finish in 18 months.
00:45:03And then everyone is going to move on.
00:45:08That was the deal.
00:45:09That is my job, not to be a coach.
00:45:12If people cannot handle the Gary Neville's and the criticism of everything, we need to change the club.
00:45:19I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach.
00:45:24And every department, the scouting department, the sport director needs to do their job.
00:45:28I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on.
00:45:32The question he was responding to, Ruben Amarim, was about control at the club.
00:45:36And that answer clearly would point to discord with regard to the hierarchy at the club.
00:45:42Yeah, yeah, he's not happy.
00:45:43It looks like there's a bit of a, it feels like we don't know, obviously.
00:45:46It feels like there's a bit of a fallout between himself and, of course, Jason Walcox, the director of football.
00:45:51And he said in numerous cases, two or three times there, that he's the manager, not just the coach.
00:45:56So what that tells me is he's overseeing players coming in.
00:45:59He's overseeing maybe players going out, who comes to the club, who doesn't.
00:46:02Or he would like to.
00:46:03He would like to, but maybe that's not happened.
00:46:05Maybe it's been nowhere in January now.
00:46:06The promises of maybe players coming in, maybe the goalposts have changed.
00:46:10And a lot of, you know, Gary may tell you better, but a lot of managers, you know, they are head coaches now.
00:46:13And they've got heads of heads doing other things.
00:46:15But, you know, look at the great Sir Alex Ferguson.
00:46:17He managed that football club like no other.
00:46:20I look at maybe Anunay Emery at Aston Villa.
00:46:22It feels like he's got the final say in everything that comes and goes in Aston Villa.
00:46:25And look where they're at in the league.
00:46:26And also, I'd say if Man United won on Wednesday night against Burnley, they're up the fourth.
00:46:30And if you look at their bench in the last couple of weeks, he's got a bunch of kids on there.
00:46:33So I don't think he's doing a bad job, but it does feel there's a bit of a falling out behind the scenes, perhaps.
00:46:38What do you think, as a manager sitting in that chair, his aim was?
00:46:41What was the end game?
00:46:42Yeah, no, I think when you deliver a press conference like that, you're obviously trying to make a point.
00:46:46He's unhappy about something.
00:46:48It's very difficult for us, without knowing the inner workings at the football club and the conversations that go on, what he's unhappy with.
00:46:54I agree with Shea that there's not much for him to work with at the moment.
00:46:58If you look at that bench that Manchester United are naming, you know, they are fifth or sixth in the league.
00:47:03And maybe they're not underachieving too much with what he's got available to him.
00:47:06So I understand his need and his want for more backing.
00:47:10But it is a dicey game to play when you're sat in that chair and you start to criticise people above you.
00:47:15Maybe when it's not gone overly well for you over the last 18 months.
00:47:19But, you know, he's an intelligent guy, big boy, I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
00:47:22And if he feels he needs to make a point in that moment, then he has every right to do so.
00:47:26I guess recent example, Enzo Mareska, it didn't quite work out for him, did it?
00:47:29No, it goes one way or the other.
00:47:30You normally get some support or it can end fairly abruptly.
00:47:33On the pitch, the player that they're looking to at the moment for creativity and attacking threat, you know very well, Matthias Cunier, from your time at Wolves.
00:47:39Yeah, one of my favourite players that I worked with at Wolves.
00:47:42We did an awful lot of work with him on arriving in attacking areas that really suited him.
00:47:48So Manchester United have used him in a similar zone, but it does still feel like he's carrying a lot of the burden in the attacking.
00:47:54I know they're missing players at the moment.
00:47:56Fantastic finish.
00:47:57He's unlucky that Jesko's just not quite managed to get back from an offside position, but shows his quality.
00:48:01But here, just a lack of attackers on the pitch from Manchester United and, you know, Cunier needs people, he needs runners to be able to find and he'll find them.
00:48:10His right foot's one of the best in the business.
00:48:12So there he's only got Sesko and Dorg, who's really late to arrive.
00:48:15So a fantastic ball into a dangerous area from Cunier, but not enough attackers for him to play with and combine and create things.
00:48:23Here, Dalo playing outside, poor ball inside and now Aronson punishes them on the counter-attack.
00:48:27And this was the catalyst, really.
00:48:29This was the thing that sparked a reaction from Anne-Marie and Manchester United.
00:48:33Zerksy comes straight off the bench and literally instantly you see three attackers who are able to combine.
00:48:39No full-backs playing higher up the pitch.
00:48:41Three out-and-out attackers and they're able to combine.
00:48:44Sesko sets Zerksy, Cunier makes that running behind and we did loads and loads of finishing drills with him.
00:48:49And his right foot, when you get him in and around the goal, is deadly.
00:48:52He hits the net time after time.
00:48:54Same again, Zerksy, Sesko, they work it between them and then they find the third link, Matthias Cunier.
00:48:59Once you get him here, if he's got a runner, he'll find it.
00:49:02In the first half, he didn't have one.
00:49:04Second half, Zerksy makes a fantastic running behind.
00:49:06Perfect weight on the pass from Cunier.
00:49:09And then Sesko will be disappointed he should do better.
00:49:11Same again, Cunier drops down to him.
00:49:14He's got two to combine with.
00:49:15Two attackers who he can play with would probably like more, but at least he's got two.
00:49:19They combine again.
00:49:20Zerksy and Sesko are able to take the defenders away.
00:49:22Zerksy gets Matthias Cunier half a yard and then that wand of a right foot nearly clinches the whole three points for Manchester United.
00:49:29But another big, big performance for him.
00:49:31And here you can see, like, they're not blessed with goals.
00:49:35You know, Matthias Cunier four, Casemiro four, and then there's not a lot else in that group.
00:49:40And I understand they're missing players, but this is Manchester United.
00:49:43It's the biggest or one of the biggest clubs in the country.
00:49:45And you would expect their starting XI and bench to provide a lot more goal threat than it does at the moment.
00:49:50So heavily reliant on Matthias.
00:49:51And it says a lot about Leeds and their run.
00:49:56The players and the manager there that, you know, yes, they're happy with the point,
00:49:59but they've had such a good run since that defeat at the end of November to City.
00:50:03They haven't lost a game in Manchester City.
00:50:04Yeah, the flag.
00:50:05He was under pressure, Daniel Farke, as well, wasn't he?
00:50:07And they trusted him.
00:50:07They stuck behind him.
00:50:08Seven unbeaten.
00:50:09Eight points clear of the drop zone.
00:50:11He's doing a great job.
00:50:12OK, we've got plenty more sport coming up for you on the BBC.
00:50:16There's another round of Premier League fixtures in...
00:50:19Today, non-league Macclesfield FC face holders Crystal Palace on BBC One at midday.
00:50:31The Masters snooker begins next Sunday on BBC Two.
00:50:34And if you've missed anything over the festive period,
00:50:37match of the day and individual highlights of every Premier League game
00:50:40are available right now on iPlayer.
00:50:43Now, with half this season's games played,
00:50:45Everton and Brentford faced each other,
00:50:47separated in the table by just a single point.
00:50:49Your commentator for this one is Tom Gale.
00:50:53David Moyes feels Europa or Conference League qualification
00:50:56is a realistic aim for Everton.
00:50:58Jack Grealish is now fully recovered from the festive lurgy.
00:51:01Tieno Barry says watching videos of former top-league striker Romelu Lukaku
00:51:06helped inspire his goal last time out.
00:51:10Point says Brentford's second highest telly at this stage of a Premier League season.
00:51:15Quivine Keller has seven seasons at Liverpool,
00:51:17included only one Merseyside derby,
00:51:19a 1-0 victory at Anfield in April of last year.
00:51:25Looking to end a six-game wait for a goal.
00:51:27O'Brien tried to reverse the ball on the fine dams guard.
00:51:38Thiago blocks Jensen's attempted ball and Grealish gets away.
00:51:44Jack Grealish back to Dwight and a kneel!
00:51:47Goal, who draws a fine stop from Quivine Callaghan.
00:51:53First big moment for the Irish goalkeeper.
00:51:58First corner of the game to be taken by Dwight McNeil.
00:52:02Tricky one!
00:52:04Cleared off the line by Thiago.
00:52:06Well, a nervy few minutes for Keith Andrews' men.
00:52:12And it's Brentford's number nine back on defensive duties.
00:52:18David Moyes just a few days away from Mark in 12 months since his return back to the club.
00:52:23Everton 11 points better off at this stage than last season.
00:52:27Tarkovsky.
00:52:31Janel intercepts.
00:52:33Cross towards Thiago!
00:52:38A fair sniff of a goal for Igor Thiago and he dispatches it.
00:52:46David Moyes clearly not impressed.
00:52:49But that happened ever so quickly for Brentford.
00:52:57Now, very speedy on the delivery.
00:53:02And Thiago gets in behind Michael Keane.
00:53:05Only Erling Haaland has bagged more goals than the Brazilians so far this season.
00:53:10His 12th of the campaign to make it Everton nil.
00:53:14Brentford one.
00:53:16Brentford's fair...
00:53:23Thiago to make it two!
00:53:26Oh! Denied by Jordan Pickford.
00:53:30Excellent movement off the ball from Thiago.
00:53:34Jordan Pickford.
00:53:35Chance possibly here for Everton to change the scoreline in the first half.
00:53:47Grealish.
00:53:49Still Grealish.
00:53:51Onto his left.
00:53:52Ball across and what a save!
00:53:54Barry denied!
00:53:55And so too Keane.
00:53:57Gets away from Irabunin.
00:54:17Goes low.
00:54:19Actually gave the Everton man another chance at that.
00:54:21But it will be a Brentford corner.
00:54:27Janholt in front of the away support.
00:54:31Decent one and it's headed home!
00:54:35Captain fantastic Nathan Collins!
00:54:37Well what a start to the second half for Keith Andrews' side.
00:54:46The run's not tracked and it's a simple header from close range for the Irishman.
00:54:51Everton.
00:54:59Janholt.
00:55:03Irabunin.
00:55:07Janssen.
00:55:09Through the legs of Keane.
00:55:11Sharder.
00:55:13Sharder.
00:55:14Thiago!
00:55:14Thiago!
00:55:18Brentford.
00:55:19The Hill-Dickinson Stadium.
00:55:27Look at that from Janssen.
00:55:31Thiago takes charge.
00:55:33His second of the afternoon.
00:55:36Who saw this scoreline coming pre-kick-off?
00:55:40Is the suspicion of an offside?
00:55:43VAR are we having a look?
00:55:46Onside.
00:55:47Goal stands.
00:55:49I'm not sure that's necessary from Thiago.
00:55:52He's put better.
00:55:55Well, after what David Moyes...
00:55:57Goal stands.
00:55:57Goal stands.

00:56:27higher slides in and the decision is Everton throw
00:56:34Grealish Beto glances it on and Everton have one back
00:56:47muted celebrations a sterny look from David Moyes is there life in this game
00:56:56yet for the home sides it's the first time this season that an Everton player
00:57:03has come off the bench and scored neat header Keller have beaten I think a few
00:57:13minutes ago maybe some Everton supporters were questioning whether or not they
00:57:16should see this one out well that goals certainly changed their minds dams guards
00:57:23only Lewis Potter to aim for so far
00:57:26and into the welcome arms of Jordan Pickford's the speed in which Keith
00:57:37Andrews is side transition and they still managed to get a shot on targets
00:57:45role again and here's Tiago he's in on a hat-trick
00:57:56Caps a superb away day for Brentford's he secures the match ball
00:58:07and puts an end to this contest Everton were taking risk they were pushing men
00:58:13forwards and look at just how much time and space
00:58:19Igor Tiago has he's got the freedom of the Hill Dickinson Stadium to bear down on
00:58:26Jordan Pickford's Everton one Brentford four
00:58:31Grealish Grealish Grealish Barry still time for more goals in this match
00:58:41hasn't been many positives for Everton here this afternoon but both of their strikers on the score sheet is one
00:59:03we were excellent right from the off really played with a lot of personality
00:59:16we were excellent disappointment that we we didn't play better but uh no we're just a bit short at the moment in some areas and but in the areas we lost the goals today we weren't we weren't short
00:59:23we've been very strong in those areas but I thought we were disappointed defensively today and certainly not as strong as we have been
00:59:41moment in some areas, but in areas we lost the goals today, we weren't shot, we've been
00:59:46very strong in those areas, but I thought we were disappointed defensively today and
00:59:51certainly not as strong as we have been.
00:59:53A word of appreciation for Igor Thiago, I'm sure you go against him a lot in training,
00:59:57so you'll know about his attributes and a short spell without scoring, but back amongst
01:00:02him.
01:00:03He's just a handful, he has a bit of everything, he runs in behind, he works hard, he holds
01:00:06the ball up and he can finish the ball, he has everything to be the top striker and if
01:00:10he keeps going like this, there's no reason he can't be.
01:00:12He's played really well recently and not scored, so.
01:00:22So his performance again today was sensational and he truly deserves the accolades that he'll
01:00:29get off the back of it.
01:00:30Certainly not a typical Brentford performance.
01:00:32Not scoring.
01:00:40Yeah, he was excellent Gabby, there was no sign of a lack of confidence after not scoring
01:00:45for six games.
01:00:46Obviously he's been in the goals over the course of the season.
01:00:48Everton were poor, you know, this is not their finest day.
01:00:51Mistakes as you'll see in the build up to a lot of these chances, but proper number nine.
01:00:55Nathan Collins always wanting to threaten in behind, but he's runs in behind so hard to
01:01:05deal with.
01:01:05Pickford manages to save this one.
01:01:07But then maybe he learns from that chance where he's smashed it and Pickford's got a hand
01:01:11to it.
01:01:12He competes at the top of the pitch and he's a target man.
01:01:14First one gets this one and that's a great finish.
01:01:23To just lift it over Pickford would have been easy to smash it against him.
01:01:27Another poor ball from Everton and then not well organised behind the ball.
01:01:30Everton on that clip and you leave Thiago in this sort of space in the form.
01:01:41Well deserved.
01:01:42A fantastic performance.
01:01:43And look at that.
01:01:45He's in very good company.
01:01:47He is and I think there's a big tournament coming up in the summer, isn't there?
01:01:50The World Cup that I'm sure he's got.
01:01:58If he stays on that list and he keeps the company that he's keeping at the moment, then
01:02:01it would be very, very hard not to take him.
01:02:03I mentioned Brentford's away form because actually their league position is very good
01:02:07and it's been built on their home form.
01:02:09Hill Dickinson for Everton at the moment, their form there is a good.
01:02:13He isn't very good, is it?
01:02:14And having had a good.
01:02:25Hill Dickinson is a brand new stadium and sometimes the opposition look like they like playing there
01:02:29more so on the home team.
01:02:30And sometimes that happens, Gabby.
01:02:31But David Moyle want to put that right.
01:02:33We know he's a top manager and I'm sure he'll get it right.
01:02:35OK, Eddie Howe has said that January will be a season-defining month.
01:02:44Comes from Martin Fisher.
01:02:46Newcastle in four different competitions.
01:02:58Palace know all about hectic schedules.
01:03:00This is their 32nd match of the campaign.
01:03:03No.
01:03:04They've scored in their last two wins here over Palace.
01:03:14The Eagles give a debut to Brennan Johnson, who only joined them from Spurs on...
01:03:19...record fee of £35 million.
01:03:23Neither side in good form at the moment.
01:03:30First win in four for Newcastle on Tuesday.
01:03:34The first point in four for Palace on Thursday.
01:03:37Gets it back from Gimmarais.
01:03:46On now for Murphy.
01:03:48Whistle waits in the middle.
01:03:49Mitchell with the block.
01:03:51Newcastle's corner.
01:04:01For Newcastle.
01:04:03It's deep.
01:04:04Henderson helps it on its way.
01:04:07Whistle.
01:04:10In by Tonali.
01:04:20Well, it wasn't the greatest of punches away by the Palace goalkeeper at the start of all that.
01:04:27But he was...
01:04:28...share.
01:04:32Give a rush.
01:04:37Lovely ball.
01:04:38Whistle in on goal.
01:04:40Squares for Gordon.
01:04:421-0 Newcastle.
01:04:44...season for Anthony Gordon.
01:04:50His first in the Premier League that hasn't come from the penalty spot this season.
01:04:54I wonder there if Whistle is actually just ahead of Lerner.
01:05:02So tight, isn't it?
01:05:04He's just ahead of the Palace man.
01:05:15It won't count.
01:05:18Newcastle celebrations cut short.
01:05:20Matthew Donahue.
01:05:21Matthew Donahue.
01:05:23Today's VAR.
01:05:25With a decision.
01:05:29Inside for Gimmarais.
01:05:30Look.
01:05:33And the block was by Canber.
01:05:37Whistle looking sharp.
01:05:39Timed his run better there than he did earlier.
01:05:412025 brought welcome glory for both of these clubs.
01:05:47A first domestic trophy.
01:05:55The future holds for them in 2026.
01:05:59Now Hughes.
01:06:00Mitchell and Pino to his left.
01:06:04It's Pino through for Hughes, who's in!
01:06:06Oh, he should have buried it!
01:06:07What a chance for Will Hughes!
01:06:10Well...
01:06:11...that opportunity.
01:06:15Lovely way to pass by Pino.
01:06:18And from there, Hughes somehow puts it wide of the...
01:06:22Now Gordon.
01:06:31Four round the corner.
01:06:33Newcastle with four in the box.
01:06:34Here's Joe Linton.
01:06:35Now Whistle.
01:06:37Now Tadale.
01:06:38And Palace scrambling.
01:06:39Here's Joe Linton.
01:06:46...particularly by Tyric Mitchell.
01:06:49Joe Linton.
01:06:53Barnes with his first involvement.
01:06:57Stop by Canber.
01:06:58Sixth corner that Newcastle have had today.
01:07:05None of them have really caused Palace that much difficulty.
01:07:10Came off the bar, that one.
01:07:11One of them have had a chance for Miley to cross.
01:07:12Look at the swing on that.
01:07:19Henderson will argue that he had it covered.
01:07:23Now a chance for Miley to cross.
01:07:27Gay nods away.
01:07:28One of them have been a nice trip by Wharton.
01:07:34Newcastle getting the free kick.
01:07:37This is where...
01:07:38...one of the Glaston will be getting a little concern that Palace are beginning to tire again.
01:07:45First phase dealt with.
01:07:49Here's the second from Barnes.
01:07:51Arriving back post is Miley!
01:07:53And it's not at home!
01:07:56Bruno Gimaraes again!
01:08:00Comes up trumps for Newcastle.
01:08:06Palace's resistance.
01:08:07Finally broken.
01:08:10And Gimaraes nods home from inside the six-yard box.
01:08:15His seventh Premier League goal of the season.
01:08:18And that matches his best ever tally in the Premier League of two seasons ago.
01:08:24It's another goal that Palace have conceded from a set-piece.
01:08:28It has been their undoing all too often in recent weeks.
01:08:33Driven in by Murphy.
01:08:35Miley.
01:08:36For Cher.
01:08:37And a header from Barnes.
01:08:39Completely saved by Henderson.
01:08:40It almost bounced to Wissett.
01:08:49Newcastle pressing hard now for a second goal.
01:08:53Another dangerous corner.
01:08:55Joel Linton got a touch and it's in.
01:08:58Malik Chow.
01:09:03From St James' Park.
01:09:05Another set-piece
01:09:06brings another goal against Crystal Palace.
01:09:10And once again,
01:09:12they have tired significantly the longer the game has worn on.
01:09:17A real pinball in there for a second or two.
01:09:19And it's Chow who gets the vital final touch.
01:09:22forward by Kimmerich.
01:09:27Barnes looked like he'd timed his run brilliantly.
01:09:30Barnes is in here for Newcastle for number three.
01:09:32Oh, how was that put wide by Joe Willock?
01:09:40Henderson did really well to block the effort from Barnes, but it looked like it was just a temporary reprieve as Joe Willock came bursting in from the far side.
01:09:51And from there, Joe Willock has found a way of missing the target.
01:09:56But it won't matter.
01:09:57Newcastle have come through this one in the end rather comfortably.
01:10:01Newcastle 2, Palace 0.
01:10:03Two goals happened from two set plays, and that's what we have to solve.
01:10:10The problem conceding goals from set plays, I think, from our last six defeats in five games, we just conceded goals from set plays.
01:10:16And not one, just every single one.
01:10:18Today, two, four at Leeds, two against Man United, one against Tottenham, two at Strasbourg.
01:10:23So, and then it's, it's, it's, you can't win games.
01:10:26This is what, this is our responsibility, responsibility is my responsibility to give the players better solutions that they can defend it in a better way.
01:10:34I think we work really hard at our set pieces and pleased to see them come off and they can win and lose your game.
01:10:39So, it was a defining factor today.
01:10:41When we come in at 0-0, we know we could play better.
01:10:43I thought we did play better, especially with the introduction of the substitutes, I thought they all made a difference.
01:10:48And finally, we had some sort of strength back in the squad today.
01:10:51You could see our bench was, you know, much stronger, and I think that made the difference.
01:10:57So, back-to-back wins for Newcastle United, and that coincides with two Premier League starts for Johan Wisser.
01:11:03He offers something of an ISAC-esque quality to Newcastle.
01:11:07You see the difference.
01:11:08That's all for the Newcastle fans, ISAC-like comparison.
01:11:10But, yeah, I agree totally, Gabby.
01:11:12And it was good link-up play with him and Guimarães today.
01:11:14You see him in the picture, he drops deep.
01:11:16And Valtomar is good at this as well, dropping deep.
01:11:18But I'd like to keep an eye on Visser's movement after.
01:11:20Striker, he drags the centre-half out of position.
01:11:23But he's not happy we can get involved in link-up play.
01:11:24Watch where he ends up here now.
01:11:25He probably should score here, Johan at the edge of the box.
01:11:28You know, it's a timid sort of shot at the end of that.
01:11:29But, again, he's got one thought in his mind, is to get in the box.
01:11:32And, again, Bruno receives the ball here.
01:11:34Look at Visser.
01:11:35His first thought is, can he stretch the opposition?
01:11:37Can he play down the sides?
01:11:38And, again, a spit like ISAC last season.
01:11:42Difficult for defenders to defend against pace and power.
01:11:44He was marginally offside.
01:11:45In this occasion, obviously, Gordon with the follow-up.
01:11:47But the goal was rightly disallowed.
01:11:48Again, can Bruno play that ball?
01:11:50You see Visser peeling on the back of the centre-half.
01:11:52That's what he's good at, you know, occupying the centre-halves.
01:11:55And, again, he doesn't come out to try and link-up on the edge of the box.
01:11:58But maybe I've ultimatted.
01:11:59He's getting in the middle of the goal.
01:12:00He's the best opportunity to score goals.
01:12:02You know, Palace just do enough to defend this.
01:12:04But, again, him and Bruno are in the box here trying to score.
01:12:06And, as I mentioned, Sepp plays.
01:12:08It's a huge part of the game.
01:12:09We highlight Bruno in the middle of the box.
01:12:11And we should mention Lewis Meade at the back,
01:12:12who was absolutely brilliant today, by the way.
01:12:14Keeps it alive.
01:12:15And you want your captain to step up at a key moment.
01:12:18The first goal in any game is so important.
01:12:20And, again, captain, fantastic.
01:12:21Steps up to the plate.
01:12:22Gets the all-important goal.
01:12:23And you look at his stats as well.
01:12:25He's matched his best goal-scoring record already.
01:12:27And we're only in January.
01:12:28So, again, such huge, important goals.
01:12:31And you mentioned, Eddie mentioned momentum for this team.
01:12:33Now, back-to-back ones.
01:12:34Can they push on?
01:12:35They've got some big games coming up.
01:12:36Oliver Glasner bemoaning the fact that Crystal Palace
01:12:39can't defend set-pieces.
01:12:41And they do have a terrible record this season.
01:12:43They do.
01:12:43I'm sure this is driving him mad.
01:12:46Because they're always in games.
01:12:48You know, they're defensively well-coached.
01:12:51But, like you said there,
01:12:52if you're going to ship this many goals from set-pieces,
01:12:54over 50% of the goals they've conceded
01:12:56have been from set-plays.
01:12:58And it's been a real struggle for him.
01:12:59And the more it happens, the more it becomes a thing.
01:13:02Because I'm sure he'll do a meeting on it tomorrow
01:13:04or the next day around, we need to be better at it.
01:13:07And then the lads go out onto the pitch.
01:13:09They give a corner away.
01:13:11And instantly everyone's thinking,
01:13:13oh, no, another corner.
01:13:14You know, we've struggled off these this season.
01:13:15So the quicker they fix it, the better.
01:13:17First in 137 Premier League games.
01:13:29They were hoping for better at home
01:13:31to upwardly mobile Sunderland.
01:13:33Your commentator, Robin Cowan.
01:13:36Goalless draws for both Spurs.
01:13:37Tottenham's travelling fans were vociferous
01:13:45in their dissatisfaction
01:13:46at another toothless display.
01:13:48In response, Thomas Frank has replaced
01:13:49a holding midfielder in João Polinha
01:13:51with a more attack-minded Matthias Tell.
01:13:54The other change sees Ben Davies
01:13:55make just his second Premier League appearance
01:13:57at the start.
01:14:00Sunderland have taken points
01:14:01of all of the current top four in the Premier League.
01:14:04Manchester City, the latest side
01:14:05to leave the stadium of light frustrated.
01:14:08Regis Labris names the same 11
01:14:09with this fixture former Arsenal man
01:14:11Granit Xhaka will have been
01:14:13especially looking forward to.
01:14:21Given away, but Granit Xhaka
01:14:24can't keep hold of it.
01:14:26Gray, allowed to advance.
01:14:29Options right and left.
01:14:32Serkin got a little touch on it.
01:14:34Poros delivery!
01:14:35Three!
01:14:36Mukiele, the faintest of glances
01:14:40ahead of Rashadesson.
01:14:43Had he not got that...
01:14:451-0.
01:14:50Thomas Frank has admitted
01:14:51that the first half of the season
01:14:53as Tottenham head coach
01:14:54has been difficult to enjoy.
01:14:58Out of there.
01:15:00And now Tell.
01:15:01That's Rufs.
01:15:09Pretty sure that
01:15:11that was heading wide.
01:15:15Good spell of sustained pressure
01:15:17this from Tottenham
01:15:18but
01:15:18is there something at the end of it?
01:15:20Romero.
01:15:21Rufs is a turn behind
01:15:35by Herr Schrauder.
01:15:36I can't tell.
01:15:46Romero takes it down.
01:15:48Banderbyen!
01:15:49And touched in
01:15:50by Ben Davis!
01:15:52Well, Tottenham looking for
01:15:56more potency
01:15:58up front.
01:16:00And it's the defenders
01:16:01who combine
01:16:02to get their first goal.
01:16:05You've got to say
01:16:05this was slapdash
01:16:06from Sunderland.
01:16:08Christian Romero
01:16:09had time to take it down.
01:16:11Slip!
01:16:11And Mickey
01:16:13van der Venn's shot
01:16:14is turned in
01:16:16by Ben Davis.
01:16:19His first Spurs goal
01:16:21in over two years.
01:16:24Some hope for Reggie
01:16:26Slabrese.
01:16:26Only Aston Villa
01:16:27have won more points
01:16:28from losing positions
01:16:29this season
01:16:30than Sunderland.
01:16:33Mokiele.
01:16:34Charleston wins it.
01:16:37Hume
01:16:37has a go!
01:16:38Oh!
01:16:38Opened up nicely
01:16:42for him.
01:16:44No one really
01:16:45closing him down.
01:16:47They've really
01:16:48failed to lay a glove
01:16:49on Tottenham
01:16:50so far
01:16:50in this first half.
01:16:55Ben Takur
01:16:56tried to
01:16:56flick that forward.
01:16:58Here's Trae Hume
01:16:59onto
01:16:59Mayenda.
01:17:03Find Xhaka
01:17:04in a bit of space
01:17:05here.
01:17:05It didn't run.
01:17:12Ooh, gets the cross in.
01:17:14Vicario came
01:17:15and
01:17:16Ben Davis
01:17:17was there.
01:17:26And Vicario
01:17:27got nothing on that
01:17:29at all.
01:17:30Good positioning
01:17:30from Ben Davis.
01:17:31Can Zunderland
01:17:37prey on the...
01:17:43Can Zunderland
01:17:43prey on the...
01:17:46Enzo Le Fay just hits the base of the post no intervention from Vicario so close and that will
01:18:03do nothing for the nerves inside here Sunderland to have so much confidence positive
01:18:16to show what they're all about Brobby receives the ball back it's Brobby it is brilliant
01:18:28the pressure was building
01:18:34good times keep coming for the black cats and they are level
01:18:50Michele since moving to right back
01:18:58much more of a threat in attack
01:19:07might fall nicely here Brobby
01:19:11Hume
01:19:13one-way traffic now
01:19:16slightly fortunate bouts here Brobby showing good strength to hold that up
01:19:23Hume finding space for the shot
01:19:26as a marathon
01:19:32two minutes stoppage time remaining
01:19:38Pedro Poro
01:19:45Rose well but couldn't hit the
01:19:49you
01:19:56down for Thomas Frank
01:20:00what's your kind of message in it is there an understanding about the frustration from the fans
01:20:04no but I think I think the first and foremost throughout the game I think the fans were very good and backing us and were behind the team that's all we're asking for after I always said that's different so and I'm also pretty sure that the fans they will acknowledge especially first half of the game
01:20:16acknowledge the hard work throughout the game from the players acknowledge the hard work throughout the game from the players acknowledge that they tried so hard throughout the game sometimes just don't go your way
01:20:23we reach 30 points
01:20:36I think it was the case this afternoon you always you always on the edge you don't you don't give up and the opponent I think can feel your quality so I think it's really positive for the future but we'll have another challenge in three days and go again
01:20:52we're playing with three front players that hasn't got that many primary goals in Wilson matchy and and and also call
01:21:05sometimes you're on a spell where you need to work very very hard and
01:21:08had so many chances to put the game away yeah the game was there for them I preferred their approach I thought they were they were slightly more aggressive you can see here this is right from the start
01:21:23after Sunderland not going to give Sunderland an easy afternoon which sometimes it feels like they can this stadium they go after them but then poor decision from Richarlison and the story of it was they just really
01:21:34he misses it lose the chance they get it back again
01:21:41again
01:21:45again easy pass big big space to get that in with Premier League quality doesn't manage to find it Sunderland off the hook again and when Spurs were on top and Thomas Frank talked about missing some opportunities here Pedro
01:21:59Pedro Poirot when he breaks he finally shows a moment of quality and you think this is it what a ball and then they lack quality on the end of it with a really poor first touch and the chance fizzles out and then when you need a moment of quality this Sunderland side never know when they're beat and this is real top
01:22:14top top top draw the moment of quality didn't come from Spurs it comes from Sunderland fantastic link up from Brobby and that pass from Le Fay on the ball on the volley to get the weight of it and the direction of it right and then an emphatic finish from Brobby smashes right through the ball absolutely no chance for the goalkeeper and this Sunderland train keeps on rolling and they're very very difficult to stop at the moment and there's pressure on Thomas Frank you could hear the boos couldn't you at the end of the game yeah what do you feel the kind of the music the mood music is like around Spurs
01:22:44they're the 13th couple of Windsor in the Champions League position it's very tight in the middle of the league I know what that's not what Thomas Frank wants he wants results and the fans want results but I think Stig Wolfen maybe I know Johnson's left this week maybe he'll get money in the January window to to strengthen his squad and push them up the league
01:22:59okay shall we take
01:23:01all deary me give it straight to Evan Nielsen
01:23:12and away from Semenyo and still going and across
01:23:29go to guard now Bryce brilliant absolutely clinical from Declan Rice
01:23:37here's Bukayo Saka Bryce Declan Rice at the double for Arsenal
01:23:45Cook opens up for the hit here oh what a hit too from Kruppi
01:23:53Rodgers
01:23:55Watkins
01:23:58cash is in space
01:24:03Kamara's found him
01:24:04McGinn coming in
01:24:06Gibbs-White bursting forward and he's onside
01:24:12it's Morgan Gibbs-White for Forrest
01:24:15hope is restored
01:24:18Telemans into McGinn
01:24:22oh the goalkeeper's in no man's land here
01:24:25and John McGinn
01:24:27makes him pay
01:24:29a blasted home by Ruta
01:24:37look at Chukwu tries to send it away sliding in but Yasin Iyari collects it here
01:24:45oh it's the perfect start to the second half for Brandon Hoba Albion
01:24:49and it goes to Huang
01:24:53Huang's ball across and walls in front
01:24:57congratulations
01:25:27.
01:25:57.
01:26:27.
01:26:57And in third place is Fulham's Harry Wilson on 23.92% of the vote.
01:27:26This is relevant because Morgan Rodgers got 23.96% of the vote.
01:27:32Talk about tight margins for his goal against Manchester United.
01:27:35So the winner with 26.46% when it was a team goal really wasn't it, but it was finished
01:27:41by Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Leeds United.
01:27:48Leeds did that well though.
01:27:56It's a fabulous team goal, and Calvert-Lewin's incredible streak in front of goal continues.
01:28:18Scored on the 28th of December against Sunderland, a lovely team goal.
01:28:22Happy with that one?
01:28:23Yeah, I thought they were all good goals, but nice to see a team goal win.
01:28:26Thanks for coming. Thanks for coming, Shea, as well. We'll see you again, definitely.
01:28:29That's it from all of us.
01:28:30So the festive period ends with Arsenal six points clear at the top of the table
01:28:34as Manchester City are left frustrated by the Enzo Late Show.
01:28:37Good night.
01:28:37One, two, three, four, five, five.
01:28:42Yeah!
01:28:44Yeah!
