00:00:08Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:51Two wins in their last six league games.
00:00:55Can Arsenal hold their nerve in the title race?
00:00:58Here's Rice.
00:01:00And Saka gets the opener.
00:01:02Perfect start for Arsenal.
00:01:04They just can't get out at the moment, Wolves.
00:01:06That's a lovely ball.
00:01:08Hincapie doubles Arsenal's advantage.
00:01:12It's Hugo Bueno.
00:01:14What a goal.
00:01:15The Wolves have just made this very interesting.
00:01:19Nervy moments for the Gunners.
00:01:22And Riot got himself in a medal.
00:01:25And it's in!
00:01:26Another agonising twist in the title race for Arsenal.
00:01:31Is it happening all over again?
00:01:36Yes, Arsenal pegged back during the week, so it's over to others tonight with five games
00:01:42on the way.
00:01:43One of the brightest footballers of his generation is alongside Wayne.
00:01:47So, let's...
00:01:48He's written the script as Mica.
00:01:50And on the running order.
00:01:51So we'll start by seeing if Manchester City could close the gap on Arsenal to two points
00:01:55with victory over Newcastle.
00:01:57Commentary from Guy Mowbray.
00:02:01After three wins in a row, trips away from Tyneside should no longer be worried about by Newcastle fans.
00:02:08But then there's this one.
00:02:10They've lost away to Manchester City 16 times in a row in the Premier League.
00:02:15In league terms, Pep Guardiola has made one change to his City team for today.
00:02:20With Omar Mahmouche starting instead of Phil Foden.
00:02:23Mahmouche scored twice when Newcastle were last here just two and a half weeks ago in the League Cup.
00:02:28And Eddie Howe has made one change to his team as well.
00:02:32That's from Wednesday's club record European win.
00:02:356-1 away to Carabag.
00:02:37Jacob Ramsey takes Harvey Barnes place in the Newcastle starting line-up.
00:02:42A win tonight and at least four tonight.
00:02:46Manchester City will be in touching distance of Arsenal.
00:02:50Mahmouche.
00:02:51O'Reilly to his right.
00:02:54Now to his left.
00:02:55And found by Omar Mahmouche.
00:02:57O'Reilly!
00:02:59What a wonderfully clean strike.
00:03:02From a wonderfully gifted player.
00:03:07It's his tenth goal for Manchester City.
00:03:10And they're starting to come more regularly.
00:03:13Now that he's getting regular game time in his favoured midfield role.
00:03:18Nick Pope will be very, very unhappy about the way that it went in past him.
00:03:24It's a lovely shot from O'Reilly but Pope having got a glove to it will think that he quite
00:03:30possibly, maybe even probably should have tipped it around the post.
00:03:34Pope was firing it in himself.
00:03:39Eddie Howe's record in the Premier League against Manchester City.
00:03:421-1, drawn two, lost 16.
00:03:45Lost all ten with Bournemouth.
00:03:47One win in nine with Newcastle.
00:03:50Reuben Diaz bounces back here for Voltamardagh.
00:03:55Looking to set Gordon running.
00:03:56Gingerhijs going to have to run quickly.
00:03:58Gordon takes it really confidently.
00:04:01Difficult angle but a good use of the brakes and Donnarumma has to save.
00:04:06great running and intelligent play too from anthony gordon very quickly assessing what
00:04:12was on what wouldn't be on and trying to make it work the best way he could
00:04:18only killian mbappe has got more champions league goals this season than anthony gordon
00:04:26now newcastle had the chance to break it's willock
00:04:28being grabbed at by marmouche advantage with newcastle and ilanga
00:04:36ilanga goes down no suggestion of any sort of foul but it will be a newcastle corner
00:04:41i think it's reasonably clear what ilanga's instructions have been
00:04:45when he gets the ball he's been very quick to run at the fullbacks in front of him every time
00:04:52trippier that's a good ball and donnarumma put a hand up and got something on it
00:04:59there's voltamada jumping it's malik chao at the back and it was just tipped over the
00:05:04top by donnarumma malik chao a real threat from any sort of balls into the box
00:05:11tonani it's not away yet here's hall hall shot through the crowd and all the way in newcastle at
00:05:18level must have been a touch of somebody on its way through but it is lewis hall who will celebrate
00:05:25the goal all shot did it come off rodri oh it takes at least two touches i think it's eight
00:05:34nuri and then ruben diaz no chance for donnarumma was anybody offside in his line of vision don't
00:05:42think that's going to be a factor and it will be lewis hall's goal and there's something about
00:05:46manchester he likes three goals for newcastle united two have come at old trafford and now
00:05:52one at the etihad
00:05:55it's given time to think
00:05:59semenyo away from voltamada lovely ball for harland harland's delivery o'reilly's there
00:06:072-1 city two for nicko o'reilly normally you might think of that happening the other way around
00:06:16ball in for harland to head home but he doesn't just score he makes them as well
00:06:23and it's nick o'reilly who's in great scoring form just at the moment
00:06:29trippier couldn't get into forward gear quickly enough to beat o'reilly to the ball
00:06:34and o'reilly wanted it super headed finish newcastle weren't level for long
00:06:40manchester city two newcastle one
00:06:45roderick o'reilly
00:06:51stays in front of harland crucially
00:06:53voltamada gets the ball away to gordon gordon will certainly back himself against ruben diaz who brings
00:06:59him down and diaz i think will be getting a booking now knew he was in trouble the minute the
00:07:05race was on
00:07:08forcing gordon to take the long way around he was just intent on making sure there was no way around
00:07:16tonali to take the newcastle free kick
00:07:22put into a good area for burn to attack
00:07:25and for dan burn to score but the flag is now raised
00:07:34eddie howe with more of a grimace than a smile he's seen it already
00:07:38and i think he's accepted it just offside that burn
00:07:45the biggest frustration that he has there is that when the jostling started before tonali put it in
00:07:51he was kind of forced off balance watch this ruben diaz there with a a hold then a push
00:07:58and that is actually what propelled burn into being offside
00:08:04radiola along with many thousands of others inside this place will want to see another home goal as
00:08:11soon as it could possibly happen to get a bit of breathing space
00:08:16semenyo powering away from ramsey semenyo too much adrenaline coursing through his body
00:08:25look for a time as though we were going to see one of the special solo goals
00:08:31might have been a better bet to feed marmouche you know
00:08:36non-stop newcastle noise some of the city chants over the last few minutes have been of the come on
00:08:42city nature you usually hear that when the home crowd sense their team needs a bit of a lift might
00:08:48be the case
00:08:53harland oh brilliant finds shirky he finds semenyo who only finds nick pope
00:09:03came off lewis hall's boot took a lot of sting off the shot
00:09:07don't think it was semenyo's finest anyway
00:09:20he was flying down the left all the time harland to his right and a
00:09:25nuri thought about what to do next for far too long taken from him by burn i think he wanted
00:09:33to do it by
00:09:34himself but he was also mindful of harland's position he didn't do either he has a look towards goal he
00:09:40never looks towards harland and then he gets in a bit of a muddle for his part dan burnt it
00:09:46brilliantly
00:09:55but guardiola thinks that had to be
00:10:01free kick in the other half of the field it was eight nuri involved again a troublesome minute for him
00:10:07barely put a foot wrong before the last minute and he's given newcastle free
00:10:11kick and burn is up there for it which means harland is back there for it it's jacob murphy to
00:10:19whip it in for newcastle he has done he did exactly that but nobody able to put the finish on
00:10:25it
00:10:29we are into the four minutes of added time
00:10:37gay steps past murphy
00:10:41up to harland harland takes it takes on burn and pope makes the save
00:10:46now it's foden oh what a touch and a good save by pope
00:10:56city stepping it up towards the finish
00:11:06what a takedown that was from phil foden he thought that was his long run without a goal
00:11:10over but nick pope read what he was going to do with it next
00:11:21trippier does the launching down for harvey burns was that saved it was
00:11:28brilliantly by donnarumma that may have been sneaking in
00:11:32not the first time he's done that at the end of a game for city this season
00:11:39is it this is newcastle's moment as tonali puts in the swinger pope goes for it harland
00:11:48heads away it is murphy
00:11:54has to go backwards to come forwards trippier city fans want the whistle nick pope is still up there for
00:12:01newcastle bernardo silva with the touch away and that will do it the noise at the end the smiles and
00:12:11the hugs
00:12:12the leaping on one another by the players tells you just what that means for manchester city
00:12:19early harland tells you just what sort of effort they've had to put in to make sure of their customary
00:12:26home win against newcastle and with it they move two points behind arsenal both having played 27 games
00:12:36all eyes on north london tomorrow tonight it's finished manchester city two newcastle united one
00:12:47pep tell us the best thing the most pleasing thing about that win today
00:12:52the opening how tough it is so we saw today until the end of the season this is the level
00:12:57you have to
00:12:57play so we missed the last pass uh we then found erling erling today was without him would not be
00:13:05possible always we can can expecting the goals and everything but today without him would not be
00:13:12possible so we've been really good all of all the guys considering everything that we've put into
00:13:17the last few weeks that was a big effort physically mentally that was a good performance it wasn't
00:13:23good enough and uh yeah manchester city make it very difficult for you but i thought we went toe
00:13:28to toe with them i thought we were going strong at the end and can't fault the players very big
00:13:31win
00:13:32we needed the win um yeah that's our aim every game now um just three points three points three points
00:13:37and then so yeah buzzing with today the celebrations at the end all the players all the fans the noise
00:13:42was
00:13:43right up there today does that tell you just the spirit yeah the best vibe so we have fine games
00:13:48left and we need we need that vibe for our people so you know they know that the guys can
00:13:55play good
00:13:55or bad but never disappointed for the effort and today was the day really really day that we felt
00:14:00connected them with us us with them and we need it and and now it's coming the best part of
00:14:06the season so
00:14:07it's one more week the February is gone start tomorrow we're going to start the Champions League again and
00:14:12NFL Cubs you know and we know that every single game will be quite similar like today so we have
00:14:17to prepare and do it okay let's start with that man you can see there Nico O'Reilly who who
00:14:23is fast
00:14:23becoming you would have thought one of the first names on the city team sheet isn't he yeah i think
00:14:28so because of his versatility his energy just 20 years of age what he's doing is just remarkable and i
00:14:34love watching him play not only that because he's football intelligence when someone's played left back for
00:14:39the season and now he's almost playing in that number 10 role but you see here he's the furthest
00:14:45man forward and when you're in these positions here and Mamouche was excellent today as well you've got to
00:14:51make these driving runs here because these are the rewards that you get not only that he's football
00:14:56intelligence we talk about pocket of space this is absolutely brilliant as a defender there i don't know
00:15:02whether to to go to step and then you've got Mamouche pushing it one way and Haaland and Wayne you've
00:15:07been in that position so many times what's it like as a forward i think for someone so young as
00:15:13he is
00:15:13only 20 years of age to play that position and he hasn't done it in regular this season to stand
00:15:19still
00:15:19is sometimes the hardest thing to do in football and he's patient he's waiting he's stalking he sees
00:15:24and Haaland make a great run and then now he gets in the box he gets to the back post
00:15:29targets here
00:15:30and it's a fantastic ball and a great header and it carried on again i thought Haaland was outstanding
00:15:35and Wayne's gonna have a little look at but it was his willingness to run and it's not only that
00:15:40it's
00:15:40the timing of the runs as well i mentioned Mamouche with his running in behind and he could have had
00:15:45a
00:15:45hat-trick in the first half a good little ball across and he just can't get the the right connection
00:15:51and to see someone coming through the academy getting this opportunity and taking it you know
00:15:56is england international now who can play midfield and left back so that versatility is going to be
00:16:02good for for the country as well this time he's playing to Haaland and i just thought his all-round
00:16:08game today was excellent forwarding normally plays in these positions can you receive the ball on the
00:16:14half turn yes and then can you make that forward run to open up space for other players to get
00:16:20on the
00:16:20ball and i just thought it was a perfect performance for a player who's so young who's having to adapt
00:16:26from left back and now playing in the number 10. do you give both give credit to the academy there
00:16:32and
00:16:32how they brought him through that he has i mean he obviously give credit to the player himself but that
00:16:36versatility how he's been schooled yeah i think you give it to the academy but also to pep as well
00:16:41because i think peps obviously seen something in him i think he played midfield in the academy he's moved
00:16:46into left back now he's put him into a number 10 position so pep's seen him every day in training
00:16:50and he's realized that he can actually play all over the pitching but the academy have obviously
00:16:53gotten to that level yeah i mean you played as a 10 could you have played left back
00:17:00probably let me try this you played full back could you have played 10 definitely not
00:17:06um early harland today looked like a complete center forward didn't he i thought he was excellent i
00:17:12thought he was he was all over the pitch he has a great battle with dan bern he didn't get
00:17:16his goal
00:17:16ball we spoke about this a few weeks ago he's he's adapting his game slightly and he's becoming more
00:17:21of a all-round center forward rather than just a goal scorer and you see here with dan bern um
00:17:27the start
00:17:27of the battle really down but then get to early yellow card but again he had this little pocket of
00:17:31space it's a fantastic run with his weak foot great cross into the penalty area and obviously all
00:17:37riley gets a great header but newcastle were brave as well leaving dan bern 1v1 against
00:17:42erlan harland but again he shows his strength great center forward play holds dan bern off brings
00:17:47the ball down and nice little layoff gets city on the attacker game now we see him here coming into
00:17:53the number 10 position picking the ball up good good feet work driving our players and then unlucky with
00:17:59his weak foot and then here this is a clever little run you see him on the back of the
00:18:04defender he just
00:18:05gets himself back on side makes a great run and now this is where you don't want to see erlan
00:18:09harland
00:18:10of your defender he gets the ball he's driving at you yet newcastle do well get defenders back but
00:18:15then he comes out of there lays the ball off and he's becoming more of a creator rather than that
00:18:21just that goal player scores goals and then defensively when you need him back in his own box
00:18:25strong powerful great header out of the penalty area here he actually stayed in the back live for a long
00:18:30time at times but here again cover not letting the newcastle players get through
00:18:37really unlucky this is where you want to see him on the shoulder it's a good save unlucky not to
00:18:42get
00:18:42his goal which is all-round performance deserved and then last minute last kick of the game ball
00:18:49comes into the penalty area he's there great header out but his performance i thought was outstanding
00:18:55today and you see his heat map that's a real contrast to some what we've seen at times during
00:19:01this city career normally with erlan harland you see this heat map and it'd be central in just in
00:19:06the round the penalty area but here you see he's everywhere and he's favored that right-hand side
00:19:10so i think he's he's finding new things in his game which i think that's a scary thought
00:19:16it's also a scary thought because he has so many other people that can then play off him yeah exactly
00:19:21that i think he became a little bit predictable harland so when i was watching his game as a defender
00:19:27i'm thinking i know where he wants to run when the balls are one side he's always going to go
00:19:31to
00:19:31the back post but what wayne showed there he's got variety in his game now and that's difficult
00:19:35because a man who can score that many goals and now introducing the other side of his game he's
00:19:41going to be unstoppable you've both you've both been entitled racers so what do you read into the
00:19:46reactions at the end tonight i i think um you just know you're in with a fight now there's always
00:19:54defining moments in the season and and i think man cities was against neverpool away when they come
00:20:00back after that's the boss live free kick and then it just gives you that little bit of impetus that
00:20:05momentum to say we're in this and now obviously the northland derby is tomorrow we don't know what's
00:20:11going to happen there but as long as i always said as long as man city can stay within two
00:20:15or three
00:20:16points in that game in april at home at the etihad then they're in with a chance and that's all
00:20:21you can
00:20:21expect at this part that's my games as well from pep without actually saying anything that's pep showing
00:20:26arsenal they're up for this fight and they're ready to to take this fight on with arsenal and
00:20:30arsenal will be sitting there because that was a tough game today against newcastle but it's a
00:20:34fantastic win the the other thing as well is since the turn of the year when they've been a full
00:20:39round
00:20:39of premier league fixtures if arsenal have had to go after manchester city they haven't won yet so it
00:20:45cranked i know they played midweek but that was a standalone game for arsenal so that cranks it up even
00:20:50more
00:20:51doesn't it yeah it does and obviously having a derby game against tottenham it's it's never an easy
00:20:55game tottenham with a new manager in so yeah they're going to be looking at thinking you know
00:20:59city are coming they know it's in city's hands and so arsenal the pressure's back on arsenal tomorrow
00:21:04north london derby so yeah let's see what they've got uh right chelsea are unbeaten in the premier
00:21:10league under liam rosinia burnley traveled to stanford bridge on the back of an fa cup defeat to
00:21:15mansfield town steve wilson's your commentator scott parker returns to stanford bridge where he had
00:21:22one season as a player fighting for his job that dismal cup defeat arguably more than undoing the
00:21:28good work of their win at crystal palace chelsea haven't actually beaten burnley in either of their
00:21:34last two meetings here three changes today from the league draw with leads netto james and fofana come in
00:21:41estival's out with a tight hamstring burnley made no changes from sellers park when they came from
00:21:46two down to win seven of the eight premier league points they have ever won against chelsea have been
00:21:52taken here at stanford bridge
00:21:57it's chelsea defending the shed end against a burnley side who surely know where and how this season is
00:22:06going to end it's going to end it's a lovely ball caicedo for pedro netto joe pedro
00:22:14one nil well that didn't take long just over three minutes played
00:22:22joe pedro puts chelsea in front
00:22:34and the ball is clearly over the line despite dubravka's best efforts
00:22:46chelsea won bernley nil
00:22:55hannibal with a good run and he's fouled
00:22:58fofana yellow card i would thought yes it is fofana booked
00:23:07it's a good job chelsea had scored because they haven't done a lot else
00:23:13laurent being chased by pedro netto has nudged him has he yes he has
00:23:20i can't help but feel that chelsea are asking for trouble here
00:23:25five inside the chelsea area it's played back to kyle walker walker with a little bit of backspin
00:23:31on it joe warrell's header is cleared away comfortably and there's an error and here's
00:23:39trouble for burnley cole palmer and it's a very comfortable dubravka save
00:23:46i feared for kyle walker there i thought he was going to try and grab cole palmer
00:23:50and pull him back which would have been a certain red card and kyle walker thought better of it
00:23:59he's edwards
00:24:04anthony and put behind by reese james with zean fleming sniffing around
00:24:09anthony stretch couldn't quite make contact with it corner kick is played short anthony delivers
00:24:19hannibal that's a good hit sanchez is there and it's a straightforward save for robert
00:24:26sanchez at the end of it but it's a good hit by hannibal
00:24:30it'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room at half time they've got a
00:24:34great start
00:24:35and it feels frankly as though they've been going through the motions ever since
00:24:44we'll just sit there very happy to be one nil down and think that at some point in this second
00:24:49half
00:24:50they may get a set piece or something that they can turn to their advantage and make chelsea pay for
00:24:57not
00:24:57finding a second goal and bashir humphries has given the ball away here pounced on by joao pedro and here's
00:25:06palmer well palmer is down and lewis smith says this is a goal kick
00:25:15the video assistant referee has looked at this and confirmed the decision of on pitch referee lewis smith
00:25:27here is pedro netto
00:25:32whipping the cross
00:25:34across dubravka and put behind by lucas perez for a chelsea corner
00:25:42pedro netto with this corner kick and dubravka just seemed to lose his footing a little bit as
00:25:49it came in and they've got away with this burnley they might not have done just look at the burnley
00:25:53keeper here dubravka
00:25:59james ward prowse for lucas perez
00:26:04spotted cole palmer just in time warrell had to stretch and the referee's actually given burnley a free
00:26:10kick for an earlier challenge on ward prowse and it's a red card for fofana it's a second yellow for
00:26:18the
00:26:18chelsea defender and he's stretched into a challenge on james ward prowse here
00:26:26and that is a second yellow for fofana and that could be a bit of a game changer
00:26:41humphries fleming trying to run in behind did toson push him over fleming thoughts up
00:26:50there are no other chelsea defenders between them and robert sanchez
00:26:57to say it's not a foul is surprising
00:27:12edwards free kick this is what burnley will want a set piece within striking distance of chelsea's goal
00:27:25set pieces his speciality and it goes and over the top just just over the top from ashley barnes
00:27:33it wouldn't have counted offside in the middle
00:27:38yeah he is offside i mean burnley might have argued he was only offside because he was pushed offside
00:27:46ward prowse
00:27:56just exactly what burnley want
00:28:01real pressure on chelsea here
00:28:05in it goes from ward prowse fleming in
00:28:07one one
00:28:10great header from fleming and chelsea really only have themselves to blame
00:28:18you know ward prowse will deliver with quality
00:28:22and you know fleming is great in the air it's such a deft header and burnley are level
00:28:31well there are still about 90 seconds of added time to play
00:28:36burnley who came from 2-0 down to win in south london against crystal palace in their last premier
00:28:42league game are they going to do it in west london it's an opportunity for edwards goodness me what a
00:28:47chance
00:28:49it's going to be a corner to burnley
00:28:52didn't really get the shot off quickly enough allowing toson to close it down
00:28:58but here we go again with another ward prowse corner kick from the right hand side
00:29:05in goes the corner kick i've got the heads and it's over the top and that was so close
00:29:13brun larsen the opportunity to win the game for burnley flashes over the sanchez crossbar
00:29:29to hearto hearto's ball little touch off the lap oh dear miles off target the final whistle goes
00:29:40and chelsea have dropped yet more points from a winning position it finishes chelsea one burnley one
00:29:49the best teams put up the opposition to bed the best teams are ruthless when they have the upper
00:29:56hand in games and if you're not ruthless then what you have to do is make sure you keep a
00:30:00clean sheet
00:30:00it's not enough clean sheets and that's something we need to address for us to really maximize the
00:30:05potential of this club overall today i can't be nothing but proud of the team um brilliant result for
00:30:11us and i think overall our general performance day was first class straight off the the training ground
00:30:17in terms of how we free up that space and obviously freed up phlegm it's a brilliant header first
00:30:21class set play you know it's on the money every time with with james the situation is what it is
00:30:26i think we've got 11 games left it's it's not over and it's not over till it's over and we
00:30:32even though
00:30:33the gap is big as long as it's possible we we go for this i don't know for this hopefully
00:30:39beautiful
00:30:39football story that everyone definitely in burnley is going to remember a good point for burnley chelsea
00:30:47having real problems at stanford bridge this season you can see the number of points there they've
00:30:51dropped from winning positions 17 that's the the whole season so far liam rosinia quite critical in
00:30:58our interview he's even more critical in his sky interview micah he said their defending was
00:31:03unacceptable they didn't do enough basic values of defending set pieces and there were players on
00:31:09the pitch who didn't do their jobs yeah i think it's fair i think they were hard yeah it was
00:31:14it was
00:31:15harsh um but it was truthful because on corners it was it wasn't great at all and the the setup
00:31:23here
00:31:23chelsea have actually got 10 versus five because burnley leave free just on on the edge of the box
00:31:31so warrell and fleming who were outstanding for burnley but james and caicedo are supposed to be
00:31:38tracking their runs or at least blocking all it takes is one simple movement
00:31:44now there's a space there to go and attack the ball that is too easy that's after seven minutes
00:31:51in the game and they got away with it we'll go chuckle with the follow-up there so so here's
00:31:56a goal here
00:31:58you see we've got him there circle say no don't go short to ugotr crew get it in the box
00:32:05chelsea are now
00:32:06down to 10 men but they still have the advantage nine versus five because the burn is set up again
00:32:13outside there's fleming and there is warrell this time it's santos and caicedo if you're not as strong and
00:32:21physical as someone can you get a blocking can you stop the run it only takes one movement
00:32:28to go round the back and here is where they concede the goal absolute fantastic header from fleming but
00:32:36that's simple is it but that is too simple because you've got the overload people are going to say okay
00:32:41chelsea was down to 10 men but here's just look at santos's position here it's the pointing at each
00:32:46other look how easy this is for burnley to get through as we roll it on here he's not he's
00:32:54not
00:32:54even looking he's not even looking and he's cost his team a goal a wonderful heading from fleming let's
00:33:01not take anything away from burnley and then they could have lost it again now they go a little bit
00:33:07closer before okay let's get closer to warrell and fleming but now brun larson's got all this space
00:33:14in the middle of of the field which could cost them and these are the things that could cost them
00:33:19in the champions league and why it's so frustrating to to see this choppers because all this takes is
00:33:25leadership organization if burnley would have broke chelsea down and play and use the extra man you could
00:33:32say hands up you know what i mean it it is what it is but on a set piece where
00:33:36you've got an overload and
00:33:38you're not doing the basics correctly it's just not good enough and look it isn't just the defenders
00:33:43there who aren't doing the basics correctly mike highlighted santos as a midfielder there
00:33:48but he's constantly changing his back four in the premier league they haven't had the same back four
00:33:54in successive games surely that's where you start isn't it as a manager as a coach with a settled
00:33:59back four if you can yeah absolutely and i think it's happened all season this was happening with the
00:34:05previous manager and i think chelsea they've got that many players and to juggle the players around
00:34:10um you don't know if there's pressure come from above to do that but to to be successful and to
00:34:16be challenging to win trophies you need to have your back four in place you're probably two midfielders
00:34:21and your forward and goalkeeper and if you don't have that in place then it's very difficult to
00:34:24find that consistency to go and challenge or put yourself in a good position well he's still trying
00:34:28to find his best back four isn't he and them them words after the game were pretty harsh to the
00:34:33players but
00:34:34he's being very direct and he knows he won't stand for that you just don't know who's who's the leader
00:34:38in there who's
00:34:39going to lead in that in that back four um because you look at all the defenders they're quite similar
00:34:44in how they play and i don't see a standout leader important say though burnley deserved their point
00:34:49they've got four out of six now in their last two games both away from home and maybe away from
00:34:54home
00:34:55suits them a little bit better at the moment yeah maybe i thought in that first half uh obviously
00:35:00they rode a look a little bit i thought chelsea could have maybe scored at the second or the third
00:35:04but
00:35:04once that didn't happen the ascendancy with them then the red card come and they had six crosses in
00:35:08that last sort of part of the game and created a lot of chances so yeah maybe unlucky not to
00:35:15win it
00:35:15in the end uh next third place aston villa against leeds jonathan pierce watch this one
00:35:22in villa's first time premier league saturday three o'clock kick off in just over a year
00:35:27umai emery looks to become their quickest manager to reach 100 wins up against the leeds side who haven't
00:35:32won away in ten league matches the fifth worst run in the top four divisions having made seven
00:35:38changes for the fa cup defeat by newcastle villa return virtually to the team that beat brighton
00:35:43here ten days ago although matty cash returns after missing the last two of the knee problem
00:35:47and leon bailey is preferred to jayden sancho for his first league starts returning from the loan spell
00:35:53at roma it's his 150th game for the club leads make three changes from their league draw at chelsea
00:35:59with pascal streich and anton stack returning to the defense and dominic calvert lewin up front for
00:36:05his 300th career league game
00:36:10cleanser's touch carries it into the path here of stack
00:36:17here's the run of the carvert lewin ticket brilliantly out comes martinez referee has a look
00:36:23carvert lewin went tumbling forward don't think that's a penalty referee agrees
00:36:28lovely ball this bit of disguise on it carvert lewin's touch took it too far ahead of him really
00:36:35good months and fine football leads here's aronson carvert lewin goes near post
00:36:41looking at a second chance to get the crossing well dealt with defensively there by konza
00:36:47good months they can get a cross in there through gruev he uses ampadu instead and he was clipped
00:36:56untidy challenge from molly watkins
00:37:00free kick here then for leads and stack prepares to take it
00:37:06he's gone for goal and scores brilliantly anton stack puts leads ahead he caught emi martinez absolutely cold
00:37:19martinez looking away to his left stack hammers it to the goalkeeper's right and beats him all hands up
00:37:27goalkeeper won't want to see that again leeds will love to time and time again they lead at villapark
00:37:32by one goal to nil
00:37:35leeds again go long to carvert lewin
00:37:43aronson's to his right hand side lays it back another precision effort but just flash white
00:37:48they're really creating chances now leeds united
00:37:52leeds gruev with it goodness that's close
00:37:59bailey
00:38:00unana
00:38:03glanced away there by justin who's appealing for an offside
00:38:08it's a corner to aston villa and leeds are not happy here he certainly looked offside to me
00:38:19he's swept in looking for watkins
00:38:23one back by cash
00:38:25a little bit loose can they get the second cross in by douglas louise
00:38:32mings has stayed forward watkins is in there mings touches it on
00:38:36good save watkins couldn't react to turn it in from unana's effort
00:38:41so close to an equalizer on the stroke of the heart
00:38:45good flick on by mings oh nana from close range
00:38:49goalkeeper spread himself and then watkins couldn't readjust to get to the rebound
00:38:55and there are boos ringing around villa park from villa fans they're struggling at home again
00:39:02must be said that aston villa are playing with very little confidence
00:39:10they need a strong second half here aston villa rogers with the touch on watkins with the set up
00:39:15wendia that's a good start to the second half of the home side
00:39:22his team found it very difficult to break down
00:39:25brighton here in their last home game it took a late own goal
00:39:29and certainly finding it difficult against leeds sancho to wendia
00:39:36and barclay rogers wants it played to feet
00:39:40sancho cash low cross in mings brilliant block brilliant block for leeds united
00:39:48stack saved them there
00:39:53can villa get back into the title race if still dark horses in that race
00:40:02good run purposeful breaks back to barclay
00:40:06neat touch playing better now aston villa much better buendia
00:40:12it's a shot away off the post watkins
00:40:18aston villa needed that goal desperately
00:40:24he'd been in an offside position when the buendia shot came in
00:40:28and emi buendia was desperately unlucky
00:40:40bogle with the cross high brilliant diving header effort
00:40:43super effort for leeds united and the goalkeeper sprawls to save to deny
00:40:48mecha with his first touch having come off the bench
00:40:53stretching stretching martinez did well
00:40:56victory today will take them very very close to
00:41:00what i expect to be the survival mark
00:41:04the first ambition of the season will nearly be achieved
00:41:22the last england cup came in july 2021
00:41:29who will deputize for harry kane in the summer in the world cup is he a candidate
00:41:43here's rogers
00:41:45abraham stabs it around the corner
00:41:59rogers back to him rogers for aston villa purposeful corner kick to them
00:42:08jayden sancho with the corner for aston villa as we approach the last 90 seconds
00:42:16can leeds hold on for a precious away win it'll take them almost to safety
00:42:22to the far post conza rose
00:42:24it's in
00:42:27aston villa have got out of jail
00:42:301-1 right at the death
00:42:33konza headed it down and tammy abraham flicked it home
00:42:37the vital touch was by the villa substitute
00:42:42and it came off abraham's knee and high above dominic carver lewin
00:42:48and that premier league away win eludes leeds again surely now
00:42:57it was a dream to come back and this dream to play for this club again
00:43:02um you know i'm happy to be here i said you know we've been doing so well this season i
00:43:06said i'm
00:43:07just going to bring extra energy bring my experience and help the team as much as possible
00:43:11in the first moment uh after game when you concede that late and your chances perhaps to
00:43:16score the second goal before and also the goal was avoidable of course you're a bit disappointed
00:43:20but overall you have to say probably it's also the fair outcome of this game was a pretty a pretty
00:43:25equal game and i have to say i'm just proud of my warriors today here we've had a difficult away
00:43:30game here against the team in title race and uh we're so close to win all three points it's a
00:43:34good valuable point for us and uh yeah many compliments for my players before the free kick
00:43:39i i i told talk to my my defenders to pass and to joe and they asked yeah maybe you
00:43:44go second
00:43:45post and i was like yeah i go second post but then i saw that the goalkeeper was a bit
00:43:50lurking
00:43:50on the on the ball through the second course and then i just tried it because why not this match
00:43:55is very difficult and this is the the consistency we we must keep in 38 matches today we played the
00:44:02day 27 against elite united they were performing and competing fantastic they deserve to draw even
00:44:10when we were the first half losing i think we controlled better the match the second half we created
00:44:16chances even more than then but they had two another good chances to score the season set pieces
00:44:22has been you know one of the key factors in football and um you know we just had to be
00:44:26ready
00:44:27you know we were hungry well done to esri for the first contact and i you know i was there
00:44:31for the
00:44:31second contact but you know talking about the support there week in week out there you know
00:44:36one of the best supports in the world well for a chunk of that game leeds got it spot on
00:44:40tactically
00:44:41yeah i thought they did they were really organized and disciplined but also brave as well they were going
00:44:46man-to-man at times throughout the game but also they were in a block and and they cut the
00:44:52space out
00:44:52in the middle of the pitch and forced aston villa wide and if we see here there's the shape um
00:44:58really compact and then amper two and staff who were brilliant by the way all game amper two starts
00:45:02to press off calvert lewin then blocks the left center back off forces aston villa to come down there
00:45:09right hand side and then all the leads players behind can get set if you look there's no there's no
00:45:14space
00:45:14there's no one can get in the ball it comes to the right back great jump from the defender now
00:45:20look
00:45:21at this five v two players around the ball there's nowhere really for aston villa to go they do time
00:45:25to get out a little bit but then the time play in the middle of the pitch again great pressure
00:45:29forcing after villa into making passes into the middle of the pitch and then great pressure and
00:45:34it starts leads off on the attack and here this is the man-to-man very difficult for aston
00:45:38villa to play through so forces martinez to try a long ball the brave to keep a high line
00:45:44and catch aston villa offside so i thought they were absolutely excellent and very well organized
00:45:50and then here morgan rogers probably aston villa's best player at the minute time to get in the pocket
00:45:55time to get in the space nowhere for them to go again the force aston villa to play out wide
00:46:02middle
00:46:03of the pitch no no space to go matty cash makes a run but needs to deal with it very
00:46:07well
00:46:10goodminton gets out of the ball doesn't let him take a touch and that's very difficult for villa to
00:46:14play again but here morgan rogers he gets this is the one time he gets behind the league united in
00:46:24midfield stoke scanning now the ball comes out morgan rogers trying to get on the ball trying to get
00:46:32turned trying to be effective and stoke right on him on his touch gives him nowhere to go
00:46:38and then leeds were very unlucky not to come away you can see how they're all moving are all triggered
00:46:42by each other can't you when you see it like that yeah the compact and they've been very good over
00:46:47the last few months they're very difficult to play against they know what they're doing they're
00:46:50organized and then in cavaloon up front they've got someone who's scoring goals and for villa now
00:46:55they have an option if ollie watkins isn't quite on it there's going to be competition between abraham and
00:47:00walk there is and i think ollie watkins looks like he's lacking lacking confidence and he's obviously
00:47:05had a difficult season and now with tammy abraham coming in and lurking and behind him maybe he's
00:47:11feeling a bit of pressure but here you'd expect ollie watkins through well he snatches at it's not
00:47:15really a a great effort from him and this is what ollie watkins does well he makes good movement in
00:47:20beyond he's direct he takes a touch and this is a shot out of frustration really i don't think he
00:47:26had
00:47:26any chance of scoring and when your confidence is low and you need that little bit of of luck
00:47:30he's marginally offside here and the ball bounces back off the post and he thinks he's got to tap in
00:47:35but um he's out out of luck on that one and then tammy abraham comes on and this is actually
00:47:40a very
00:47:41good goal here from tammy abraham there's anticipation of the ball getting knocked back across
00:47:45the penalty box but if you see here konza with a great header back he just takes a little step
00:47:51in front
00:47:51of the defender which doesn't allow the defender to get anywhere near the ball and that finish
00:47:55off his thigh is excellent dom domino calvert lewin is one of the one of the best leaps in the
00:48:00in
00:48:00the premier league and you just get it over zed and leads aston villa were very lucky to come away
00:48:05and you'll want ollie watkins to respond to that competition won't you not feel threatened by it
00:48:10he has to i think in in football you have competition tammy abraham's come in he scored goals for aston
00:48:15villa before he looks like he's he's settling in very quickly and he scored a couple of goals in his
00:48:20last
00:48:20two games so how do you deal with that way that competition you know when someone's coming in you know
00:48:25they're coming in for your place he struggled a little bit with duran when you remember you have
00:48:31to i think what we don't see now is clubs with many center forwards and ollie watkins has really
00:48:36been the standout or the only forward now with tammy abraham coming in that's the pressure which
00:48:40football brings you have to deal with he has to respond and and certainly if he wants to go to
00:48:44the
00:48:44world cup then he needs to perform a little bit better i think uh now we have four games on
00:48:49tomorrow's
00:48:49match of the day
00:49:00and he took it beautifully
00:49:10you can hear commentary of all of those games on bbc sounds tomorrow parts of five lives premier
00:49:15league sunday from midday also on sounds hear more from wayne on his podcast the next episode

00:49:38stop it brentford are two points off the top six having taken more points from their last ten
00:49:43than any other team in the premier league brighton their visitors james field is your commentator
00:49:49the contrasting numbers don't need the complex data models employed by these clubs to analyze
00:49:54brighton are at a crossroads in their season brentford have a first european campaign in their
00:49:59sights for the hosts michael peyote misses out with a not picked up in training so aaron hickey

00:50:14it's a record-breaking day for 40-year-old james milner as he becomes the premier league's record
00:50:18appearance maker he features for the 654th time to knock former teammate gareth barry off top spot
00:50:25he and matt's weaver start for the first time since december with joel beltman and carlos belava
00:50:30dropped to the bench
00:50:36tiago uses his body well there the bruggen gives it straight to matthias jensen who goes for it
00:50:43the bruggen able to recover in time well there are some fine technicians in this brentford midfield
00:50:50brighton don't need to be giving them opportunities at openings like that
00:50:55it's a tricky patch for fabian hurtzler three successive defeats no goal scored in that time either
00:51:01but they have had a whole week on the training ground
00:51:08mitoma quickly into jack hinge forwards spilled by kelleher
00:51:1515 000 gasps in this stadium collectively there plenty thought that was going to end up in the back of
00:51:20the net
00:51:26that's going to end up in the back of the net miller milner
00:51:30milner lifting it over there for hinchelwood and mitoma going on he took it brilliantly
00:51:35and kelleher did really well to stop it
00:51:40milner with that initial ball over and mitoma then took the second ball in his stride
00:51:46both of his goals this season have been on brighton's travels it was nearly another there
00:51:52Van Hecker, into Welbeck, pulls off Aja.
00:51:58And by Hickey, who's forced to concede another corner.
00:52:10Gross, in towards dunk, Milner!
00:52:14Well, that would have been a story.
00:52:17Well, the Premier League appearance record had stood since February 2018.
00:52:21Milner made his debut in the top flight at Upton Park back in November 2002.
00:52:29Watara.
00:52:32Puts it away.
00:52:34Brighton suddenly have numbers in good areas.
00:52:37Gross, Mitoma!
00:52:39That's two chances he's had now.
00:52:43Only two chances thoroughly wasted.
00:52:47Fabian Hurts to the side, looking much improved in this one, but not taking those chances.
00:52:52And Igor Thiago maybe should have taken his there as well.
00:52:5817 Premier League goals so far this season, but in his last five games he's only scored one penalty and
00:53:04that's it.
00:53:06Still has a few months to impress Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the World Cup.
00:53:10No!
00:53:11No!
00:53:13No!
00:53:14It's over.
00:53:15That's him.
00:53:18Can Iallu!
00:53:20Off the bar.
00:53:21And Gomez finds the net.
00:53:23But it's in eventually.
00:53:29And Brighton find a way through.
00:53:33First goal for them in four games.
00:53:37There haven't been too many smiles on those away fan faces in recent weeks.
00:53:42It was nearly a goal of the season contender.
00:53:46Down off the crossbar, and Gomez there to steer it home.
00:53:51That's the second for him in his last 17 appearances.
00:54:04Hinshelwood gets goal side of Henry.
00:54:06And the ball across, looking for Welbeck, who has a great chance.
00:54:09And how's that for an opportunistic goal?
00:54:15Nathan Collins, who's only just come on, made a real mess of that.
00:54:20And as we head into added time at the end of the first half, Brighton have breathing space.
00:54:28And just 45 seconds after coming on, Nathan Collins couldn't sort his body shape out.
00:54:34And Danny Welbeck there to score sixth in nine games against Brentford throughout his career.
00:54:44Looking to kick on in the second half.
00:54:49This position of comfort will really make it hard for them, you can guarantee that.
00:54:55That one big win.
00:54:55And the fifth win in the second half is also much.
00:54:55Oh, no, no, no, no.
00:54:56PENELTIE DEGREES
00:54:57Just physical form, you can guess what?
00:54:57TARGET
00:54:59But maybe a sign of things to come for Brentford who started the second half sharply.
00:55:04And got Thiago netted at the Amex in the reverse fixture
00:55:07and missed a penalty four minutes into added time at the end of the game.
00:55:14Henry.
00:55:21Free kick, that's going to fall to the floor by Gomez.
00:55:25They have had a few free kicks in these kind of positions
00:55:28throughout the afternoon without really making the most of them.
00:55:32That is Jensen round the back,
00:55:36Igor Thiago down and Watara couldn't keep it beneath the crossbar.
00:55:41It's been that kind of day,
00:55:43Igor Thiago making the contact he needed to.
00:55:46The acrobatics from Watara didn't work out.
00:55:57High ball towards Damsgaard who gets there, and Vabruggen off his line.
00:56:01But Damsgaard puts the ball straight into his hands, and that surely had to go in for Brentford
00:56:07if they were thinking about getting back into this game.
00:56:10They had a look, and didn't get enough power.
00:56:16On the outside is Watara.
00:56:23Watara in towards Igor Thiago, oh, nearly an own goal!
00:56:27Stopped superbly by Vabruggen. Here's Donovan.
00:56:32Still Rommel Donovan, full of pace and ideas.
00:56:36Pinball in the Brighton penalty area.
00:56:38And Hinshawatt eventually flops over to win the free kick.
00:56:43Veldman it was, the sub who nearly put it into his own net.
00:56:47Vabruggen there with great reflexes and agility to get down.
00:56:52Well, quite fitting on the day that James Milner
00:56:55has become the record appearance maker in the Premier League.
00:56:58He's put in such an assured, experienced and composed performance.
00:57:02And great respect being shown to Milner on all four sides of this stadium as well.
00:57:07He's not done yet.
00:57:10You know, to pass the mark, it's obviously a big number.
00:57:13And it's, you know, it's not something that I've really concentrated on.
00:57:17To be honest, there's always been a lot of talk around it.
00:57:19But for me, anyone who knows me, it's all about the team
00:57:21and wanting to push there.
00:57:23But, you know, it's a good opportunity to give a nod to everyone
00:57:26who's helped me get there.
00:57:27You know, obviously the family and the sacrifices.
00:57:29They've made family friends and people who work with physios
00:57:31and sports scientists, things like that.
00:57:33So, you know, I'm surrounded by a lot of young lads in there.
00:57:36And, you know, I just want to contribute to their careers
00:57:38and hopefully push them and help them get from where they are now
00:57:41to their highest level as quick as possible.
00:57:43That's what I'm there to do.
00:57:44We played really good football in the first half.
00:57:47We controlled the game, we scored goals in the right moments
00:57:50and we controlled the key moments quite well.
00:57:53We had a lot of experienced players on the pitch who know how to do this,
00:57:57who are able of doing this, and they showed it today.
00:57:59We showed a lot in the second half.
00:58:01We couldn't quite take the opportunity early enough
00:58:04that would really cause them more problems in the later stages.
00:58:08So, overall, it's a disappointing day.
00:58:11You've got to be really honest with that disappointment
00:58:13with the performance level.
00:58:14Certainly in the first half, but like I said,
00:58:16in the second half we performed a lot better.
00:58:18When you get older, things change quickly in football
00:58:20and you never know what's round the corner,
00:58:23but I'll keep pushing and let's see where that takes us.
00:58:26Big win for Brighton, but we have to talk about James Milne.
00:58:29You both know him, you've both played with him,
00:58:31he's the same age as you, he's older than you.
00:58:34Mm-hm.
00:58:35I mean, it is a phenomenal achievement.
00:58:38Absolutely incredible.
00:58:39I mean, he's such a top guy, though, as well.
00:58:43See, he can't be nothing but happy for him.
00:58:46In terms of how he applied himself in training,
00:58:50always first in, last out.
00:58:53He always give 100%.
00:58:55And I think, in terms of his ability,
00:58:58it's not rated as high as it should be.
00:59:00People call him, he's got very good work rate
00:59:03and he scored a few goals, but the transition to go from Leeds,
00:59:06where everyone talked about him, won the kid,
00:59:09then he went to Newcastle, I played against him,
00:59:11I thought that might just be his level at the time,
00:59:14was sort of playing on the wing.
00:59:15Then he goes to Villa, scores all them goals,
00:59:17gets his big move to Man City, where he's a Premier League winner,
00:59:20then goes to Liverpool after that,
00:59:21and obviously now he's at Brighton,
00:59:24but he's just a perfect career,
00:59:26and to do it how he's done it,
00:59:28I've got nothing but admiration for him.
00:59:30And still an important part about Brighton team,
00:59:33when he plays, I mean, he's still performing to a high level.
00:59:36He is, and I think what he's done today,
00:59:40firstly, that achievement is incredible, to keep playing.
00:59:43He started the same year I did as a 16-year-old,
00:59:46and to still be doing it at 40,
00:59:48but when you play with him, you get to know him.
00:59:50I expected that, I expected him to go on and play till that long,
00:59:53because he's so professional, he does everything right,
00:59:55he works hard, and he had a big influence on the game today.
00:59:58I thought he was fantastic, and he's adapted his game,
01:00:01he's played off the left, he's played off the right,
01:00:02he's played as full-back, and today he played as a double pivot in midfield,
01:00:06and he was all over the pitch,
01:00:07so I think there's a few years left in him.
01:00:10Right, West Ham sit three points from safety.
01:00:13Bournemouth went there unbeaten in their last six.
01:00:15Tom Gale at this one.
01:00:18There's growing belief amongst the players on the pitch,
01:00:21and fans in the stands,
01:00:22that West Ham can drag themselves clear of trouble.
01:00:25Victory plus defeat for Forrest could see the Hammers
01:00:28out of the bottom three come Monday morning.
01:00:30Crescensio Somerville, with six goals in seven,
01:00:33is enjoying the best goal-scoring form of his career.
01:00:36Bournemouth are targets in a third consecutive win on the road.
01:00:40Being out of the FA Cup means it's 11 days since they were last in action.
01:00:43Rayan could become the Premier League's youngest ever player
01:00:46to either score or assist in each of his first four appearances.
01:00:52The last five league meetings between these two have all ended in a draw.
01:00:58I'm confident Bournemouth would take a point if offered it right now.
01:01:01Not so sure that's the case for West Ham.
01:01:05Castellanos, early corner.
01:01:14It's going to be the captain, Jared Bowen, to take.
01:01:17His first touch of the football.
01:01:20Decent one off the line!
01:01:23Almost a perfect start here at the London Stadium for the home side,
01:01:29and it's Axel de Sassi gets contact on it and has a second bite.
01:01:34He just can't keep it down.
01:01:36I know Espirito Santo certainly feels his side is showing plenty of character
01:01:41and they're up for the fight.
01:01:45Castellanos.
01:01:46Somerville's the target and he gets to him!
01:01:50Excellent delivery.
01:01:52Not a clean contact, but another West Ham chance.
01:01:57Ruud van Nistelrooy recently appointed as assistant coach
01:02:01to Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman.
01:02:03Surely here to see Crescensio Somerville,
01:02:06who's yet to receive a senior international call-up.
01:02:13A bit of pace here from Bournemouth.
01:02:16Scots!
01:02:17Straight at Lance Hermansen.
01:02:20Everton.
01:02:20Yet to be seriously tested in this opening 45.
01:02:26Andoni Iriola watching on from the stands,
01:02:30serving as touchline ban,
01:02:31following the third yellow card last time out at Everton.
01:02:35Sean Cooper and Tommy Elphick relaying the head coach's instructions.
01:02:41It was a blistering start to the game with that chance
01:02:44inside the opening couple of minutes for the Hammers,
01:02:47but I'll be honest, it's been pretty meh ever since.
01:02:51There's never been a nil-nil between these two sides.
01:02:55Can't be many in here tonight who want to see that record broken.
01:03:01Of course to Juve.
01:03:05West Ham free kick.
01:03:15Fernandes.
01:03:18Met by Mabropanos.
01:03:19Helped on by Socek.
01:03:21Somerville couldn't bring it under control.
01:03:24Reyyan, can he look to counter?
01:03:26He's away from Fernandes.
01:03:28Castellanos won't catch him.
01:03:30Reyyan at full speed here.
01:03:33Reyyan...
01:03:33Devastating!
01:03:36And that was about as close as it comes to nestling
01:03:41in the back of the West Ham net.
01:03:43He's had a quiet game, but this is all it takes.
01:03:47Inches away.
01:03:49And that would have been a wonder goal.
01:03:52And a gasp.
01:03:55Into Somerville.
01:03:57Skips away from Hill.
01:04:00He wants someone to make a run.
01:04:04He's really very frustrated with his teammates,
01:04:07but they are coming forward here.
01:04:09Juve towards the near post of Wilson!
01:04:13Save from Petrovic.
01:04:16That may be Callum Wilson's first touch since coming on.
01:04:20And a near immediate impact from the former Cherry.
01:04:26And he's met by the palm of George A. Petrovic.
01:04:32Scott away from Wan-Bissaka.
01:04:36Alex Scott to Reyyan.
01:04:40Reyyan into Kruppi.
01:04:42His layoff.
01:04:43Scott hits it!
01:04:44And Hermanson down low.
01:04:50Chances for both teams here.
01:04:53Both feel as though they can win it.
01:04:57Immediate touch for Tavernier.
01:05:00Gets it back.
01:05:01All alone, though.
01:05:03Needs help.
01:05:03Or does he?
01:05:06Marcus Tavernier on as a sub.
01:05:08Looking to win it.
01:05:10Oh, what a ball across!
01:05:15Scott deflects into the midriff of Magassa.
01:05:19What an introduction here for Marcus Tavernier.
01:05:23No one in blue in sight.
01:05:24He says, well, go all alone then.
01:05:27No one is gambling for Bournemouth.
01:05:30Busting a gut to get into that six-yard box.
01:05:33Chance goes begging.
01:05:36Last time out here at the London Stadium.
01:05:38Manchester United scored a stoppage time.
01:05:40Equalise it.
01:05:43Still full of running.
01:05:45Crescensio Somerville.
01:05:47Bournemouth are retreating here.
01:05:49Is it going to fall for Bowen?
01:05:51It does!
01:05:53Who got the final touch?
01:05:55The referee says it was all Jared Bowen.
01:05:58So no corner.
01:06:01Bowen gets there first.
01:06:04The VAR have checked and don't see it as a reckless challenge.
01:06:10Well, for the sixth consecutive league meeting,
01:06:13it ends in a draw between these two sides.
01:06:15Full-time.
01:06:16West Ham nil.
01:06:17Bournemouth nil.
01:06:20We could have won.
01:06:21We could have won.
01:06:22I think we played a good game.
01:06:24We were compact and solid.
01:06:26In defence we created a lot of situations.
01:06:28We had good chances.
01:06:29We had good chances.
01:06:30So the feeling is that it's a good game that we perform.
01:06:34Unfortunately, we didn't achieve the result that we wanted and we need.
01:06:37But at the same time, when a team competes like that,
01:06:40we have to see that we have to keep believing and improving.
01:06:43I think especially second half the game has been quite open.
01:06:46First half I think we haven't been attacking well.
01:06:50We haven't had good individual performances from our offensive players, no?
01:06:55Second half, yes.
01:06:56The game opened.
01:06:56More spaces.
01:06:57More transition moments.
01:06:59And I think we've been more comfortable there.
01:07:01We haven't scored.
01:07:02We had our chances.
01:07:03But it could happen anything in the second half, no?
01:07:07At the end, it was sometimes a little bit crazy, the game.
01:07:11It's still nil-nil, but I prefer the second half than the first one.
01:07:14They seem quite upbeat there, Nuno.
01:07:17Didn't he, Wayne, which, although they didn't win,
01:07:20I suppose if you look at the numbers, you can see why he's positive?
01:07:24Yeah, I think they were very unlucky not to win the game
01:07:26and maybe if they're a little bit more clinical,
01:07:28they'd go on and win the game.
01:07:29But it wasn't a great game, to be honest,
01:07:31but I think West Ham probably deserved the win.
01:07:33I think the form over recent weeks has been really good.
01:07:36So it's encouraging for the manager.
01:07:39But these games, I think these are the games they have to go and win
01:07:42if they want to stay in the Premier League.
01:07:44Especially when you look at what they've got coming up,
01:07:47they don't have the greatest run coming their way.
01:07:50So when you're at home in those kind of games,
01:07:53you probably need to take full advantage, don't you?
01:07:55Yeah, you do, especially when you're in the game like they were today.
01:07:57I mean, the huffed and the puffed, I mean, conceded possession,
01:08:00but in terms of when they were in the final third,
01:08:03they created some decent chances, but when you've got Liverpool next...
01:08:06Three of their next four in the league away.
01:08:08It's always going to be difficult.
01:08:10But, I mean, when you play like that, I think defensively,
01:08:13there was a lot more solid and that's a good platform for them.
01:08:16OK, let's take a look at the Premier League table before we go.
01:08:21Manchester City have now narrowed the gap on Arsenal to just two points
01:08:25with that win over Newcastle. Newcastle remain in tenth.
01:08:28Chelsea and Bournemouth both draw and go up to fourth and eighth respectively.
01:08:33Villa stay in third.
01:08:35Two of the bottom three drew today, meaning West Ham,
01:08:39and now just a couple of points behind Nottingham Forest.
01:08:42Burnley are eight adrift.
01:08:44Brighton's first win in seven sees them go up a couple of places to 12.
01:08:48Leeds remain in 15.
01:08:53Thank you to the two naughty schoolboys, Micah and Wayne.
01:08:56In particular, though, thanks to James Milner for showing
01:08:59that you're not past it once you hit your 40s.
01:09:02Before you say anything, I know I'm in my 50s.
01:09:04Good night.
01:09:06Good night.
