Washington (January 3, 2026) – U.S. officials have confirmed to the media that President Donald Trump has approved military strikes on Venezuela. According to CBS News, Trump ordered attacks on multiple locations, including military facilities, following months of U.S. military preparations in the region. Aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and several other warships were deployed in the Caribbean.

The Trump administration has intensified its campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who confirmed the attacks and declared a state of emergency. In recent weeks, the U.S. seized two oil tankers near Venezuela and targeted over 29 ships allegedly carrying drugs. Trump labeled one area as a “drug dock zone” used for smuggling.

Maduro denies the U.S. accusations linking him to drug trafficking and terrorist organizations. While Trump has not clarified his ultimate objective, he warned that any resistance from Maduro could have severe consequences. Maduro, meanwhile, expressed willingness to negotiate with the U.S. on drug smuggling, oil, and migration matters.
