US President Donald Trump suggested that Venezuela is now seeking talks with Washington, even as the US weighs options that could include targeting assets or infrastructure linked to President Nicolas Maduro. Speaking in Florida, Trump said designations against a cartel tied to Maduro give the US the authority to strike if needed, though no decision has been announced. He accused Caracas of releasing its prison population into the United States and insisted his administration has restored border security while reversing the damage done under Biden. The comments come as US military presence in the Caribbean remains heightened and critics warn of the legal risks of any action inside Venezuela.
