Donald Trump sparks global alarm after suggesting the U.S. could conduct strikes inside Venezuela to dismantle drug cartels allegedly backed by Nicolás Maduro. Responding to questions about the new cartel designation, Trump confirms it allows U.S. action against Maduro’s assets and infrastructure, saying “we may be discussing it.” While claiming Venezuela “wants to talk,” Trump insists he’ll do whatever is necessary to stop drugs and criminals entering the U.S. The fiery remarks escalate tensions as Congress demands oversight of any potential military move.

00:00Update on Venezuela, Mr. President, on Venezuela. Update?
00:04No, no update on Venezuela.
00:06The designation of that cartel associated with Maduro,
00:10does that mean that the U.S. government can target Maduro's assets or infrastructure inside Venezuela?
00:18It allows us to do that, but we haven't said we're going to do that.
00:22And we may be discussing, we may be having some discussions with Maduro,
00:28and we'll see how that turns out.
00:31They would like to talk.
00:35You said they want to talk.
00:36You said Venezuela wants to talk. What does that mean?
00:39Venezuela would like to talk.
00:41What does that mean? You tell me. I don't know.
00:43Do you want to talk to them?
00:44I would talk. I talk to anybody. I talk to you, right?
00:48I talk to anybody. We'll see what happens.
00:49Are any other countries committed to helping the U.S. with Venezuela?
00:54Yeah, we have great support because it's all about drugs.
00:59Well, in Venezuela's case, it's about drugs.
01:02And it's also about thousands, hundreds of thousands of people that they've released into our country.
01:09And some are gang members from Trente de Aragua.
01:12Some are, many are drug dealers.
01:14Some are murderers.
01:15So in the case of Venezuela, it's about the prison population.
01:20Their almost entire prison population was released into the United States.
01:27Do you know what that means?
01:29Their prison population was released into the United States.
01:33And we're getting it out.
01:34We're doing an amazing job.
01:36We have a strong border now.
01:38We have everything.
01:38Our country's doing so well.
01:40But what the Biden administration did to our country should never be forgotten.
01:45And the single worst thing they did is allow 20 or 25 million people to pour into our country.
01:52People from prisons, drug dealers, mental institutions, bad people, gang members,
01:59to allow that to happen to the United States, totally unchecked and unvetted, should never be forgotten.
02:07What they've done to our country is a very big thing.
02:09But we are correcting it.
02:11We have strong borders now.
02:13We have a great economy.
