NEW YORK, KOMPAS.TV - Zohran Mamdani resmi dilantik dan disumpah sebagai Wali Kota New York, Amerika Serikat, bertepatan pada malam Tahun Baru 2026, Kamis (1/1/2026).    Dia mengucap sumpah jabatannya di stasiun kereta bawah tanah bersejarah yang telah dinonaktifkan di Manhattan.    Politisi Partai Demokrat itu dilantik sebagai pemimpin Muslim pertama di New York. Saat dilantik, ia meletakkan tangannya di atas Al-Quran saat mengambil sumpahnya.    "Terima kasih banyak kepada semua orang yang hadir di sini. Selamat Tahun Baru untuk warga New York, baik yang ada di dalam terowongan ini maupun di atasnya. Saya tidak sabar untuk bertemu semua orang besok saat kita memulai masa jabatan kita. Ini benar-benar kehormatan dan kehormatan seumur hidup," ujar Zohran.
