00:00Sometimes it feels great, even if only temporarily, to grab the nearest junk food and indulge.
00:06But new research shows that not only is this unhealthy, it can lead to serious memory and
00:11medical problems.
00:12The research, published in the Medical Journal of the American Academy of Neurology, found
00:17that eating more ultra-processed foods is associated with a higher risk of memory and
00:22thinking problems, as well as stroke.
00:25Algorithm examples of these foods are soft drinks, salty snacks like chips, hamburgers
00:30and ice cream.
00:31Experts say these foods are high in added sugar, fat and salt, while also being low in protein
00:37and fiber.
00:38Researchers looked at more than 30,000 adults aged 45 and older who were followed for 11
00:43years on average.
