00:00Hello, everybody, and welcome once again to Giants Live.
00:18We're here in Sacramento, California.
00:20We're almost ready for this year's World's Strongest Man finals.
00:23But while they get themselves sorted here and hopefully reinforce this stage an extra bit,
00:27across the ocean, there's still one more qualifying event to be held,
00:31and it is the World Tour finals from Glasgow.
00:34There, against the rowdiest, most raucous atmosphere you'll find anywhere in the sport,
00:38we're going to be seeing big dogs like Tom Stoltman and big logs with the Log Lift Challenge.
00:52Scotland and strength go hand in hand because of that brave heart sort of feel.
00:5716-year-olds all the way up to 60, 70-year-olds up in Highland,
01:01they're just naturally strong boys.
01:03They live on farms.
01:05People just associate Scotland with being a very, very strong country.
01:11The history of strength started in Scotland.
01:14You know, the historic stones, the Battle of the Clans,
01:17who would be the bodyguard for the clans chief or the king or whoever it was,
01:22whoever could lift the heaviest stone.
01:23And with that in the modern era, you know, Tom and I,
01:28we've really kind of held on to that kind of, that history in it.
01:33You know, and it's no surprise that Tom's the greatest that's ever been at Atlas Stones.
01:37You know, Tom would have been the king's bodyguard,
01:39probably the king of Scotland back then, heaven forbid.
01:43This was a path pre-chosen for him by whoever it might be,
01:50but this was his path that he was supposed to find for him to find that joy in life.
01:55Because finding that joy is really special, and that's what I take from it.
02:00Like, it's where I got that tattoo in my arm of Tom winning the first time,
02:04the world's strongest man in 2021.
02:06And that embrace that we had, because it's one of the most proudest moments of my life.
02:14You know, I'm a straw man at the end of the day,
02:16and I wanted to end a year in a high and come to Jairn Slav, Glasgow,
02:19and go out with a bang at the end of the World Tour Finals.
02:22I want to beat Tom. I've always wanted to beat Tom,
02:27and I feel like, you know, we've had the potential to beat Tom for quite a few years,
02:30and it'd be nice to actually, you know, finally do it.
02:34Tom's the three-time world's strongest man,
02:36and, you know, he deserves all the credit that them titles obviously carry.
02:39As do mine, obviously Tom's titles trump mine,
02:43but different comps, different events, you know,
02:45people are beatable, no one's unbeatable.
02:47You have to bring nothing but your A-game,
02:51otherwise Tom will just walk straight past you,
02:53so when he raises the level, it makes you raise the level,
02:56because he is Tom's total man.
03:03He has won this show.
03:04He is also three times world's strongest man amongst other titles,
03:07but to pip him to that first shot,
03:10that'd be something special, wouldn't it?
03:13You want to go after that guy who's on his own surf,
03:15because the pressure's on him.
03:16Maybe I am an underdog.
03:19Say the underdog's got the biggest bite,
03:21well, put a big hole in him tomorrow.
03:25I can't wait, you know,
03:26I'm probably the one that's getting handed,
03:28but I'm going to try my best to stay as far away from my prey as I can.
03:32Welcome to Scotland,
03:44a country of history,
03:45a country of strength.
03:47Almost a millennia ago,
03:49the three powerhouses were William Wallace,
03:52Robert the Bruce,
03:53and Rob Roy.
03:54Fast forward to present day,
03:56and it's Sir Chris Hoy,
03:58Sir Andy Murray,
03:59and potentially a man who's literally head and shoulders above the rest.
04:03The three times world's strongest man,
04:06Tom Stoltman.
04:07He's won this event before,
04:09but this time,
04:10there are a number of other men looking to stop him.
04:12Yes, thanks, Radzi.
04:17This is Glasgow.
04:20So let's start with,
04:21well,
04:21the reigning official,
04:23Scotland's strongest man,
04:25earned him a place at tonight's contest,
04:28Callum Crozier.
04:32The British Bears,
04:34what they call this guy,
04:35the biggest strongman event of his career to date,
04:38starts now,
04:39Ryan Bennett.
04:40Jack Osborne,
04:44competing in the log lift only tonight,
04:46may look like a geography teacher,
04:48very powerful man.
04:51From Ukraine,
04:53Pilpiak,
04:54just the latest in a factory line of incredibly strong men from Ukraine.
05:02From Canada,
05:04they call him the train,
05:05making his Giants' live debut,
05:08James Jeffers.
05:10Another debutant,
05:14former collegiate football player,
05:16came second at America's strongest man last year,
05:19Tim Buck.
05:22The Garnane gladiator,
05:24known for his fighting spirit,
05:26a real showman as well.
05:28lovely muscles,
05:31Evans Nanna.
05:34Another big British star on the rise,
05:37the flying Flynn,
05:38placed third at Britain's strongest man this year,
05:40Andrew Flynn.
05:43From Canada,
05:45well,
05:45one of their strongest exports,
05:47placed third at world's strongest man in 2021,
05:50the Wolverine,
05:51Maxime Boudreau,
05:52from the Czech Republic,
05:55finished third at this year's Europe's strongest man,
05:58just 23 years of age,
06:01Andre Foytu.
06:06This guy smashed the Welsh deadlift record at our last event,
06:0914 years as an infantryman,
06:11great at rugby too,
06:12Gavin Bilton.
06:13Two-time world's strongest man runner-up,
06:19very much on a comeback trail this year,
06:22placed third at Europe's strongest man,
06:24the Terminator himself,
06:26Matthias Kieliszkowski.
06:31A two-time Europe's strongest man,
06:34won his second European title this year,
06:36they call him the future,
06:37he's here tonight,
06:39Luke Richardson.
06:39And finally,
06:44the Albatross himself,
06:48three-time world's strongest man,
06:51won this event in 2023,
06:53Tom Stoltman,
06:56in front of a very excited,
06:58home crowd.
07:05And unless you think you can do any better,
07:07those are your strongmen.
07:09As we move into the World Log Lift Challenge.
07:14And it starts at 170 kilos,
07:17they want to get a British record,
07:18those who are Brits,
07:19221 or above is what they need.
07:22And then of course,
07:23there's Iron Bibby's world record at 231.
07:25Will we get there?
07:26Well,
07:26so far we've seen eight men drop out,
07:29and I'm afraid Callum Crozier didn't get any lifts at all.
07:33At the top,
07:3342,
07:33he skipped.
07:35As for Kieliszkowski,
07:36a big surprise,
07:37he managed to get up the 170,
07:39but then injury at 180,
07:40and he's out.
07:41I'm afraid the Achilles tendon that's plagued him for years now,
07:49has once again reared its ugly head.
07:51So one of the favourites has already dropped out.
07:56We go on to 190 kilos,
07:57and we're going to go for two platforms at the same time.
08:00They can lift in their own time.
08:01Oleg from Ukraine.
08:05And there's Jack Osborne,
08:06who is one of the favourites for the log today.
08:09He's talked about getting the British record,
08:12so this should be pretty easy,
08:14if he's going to get anywhere near that today.
08:20And it's very easy for both men.
08:25Synchronized pressing there,
08:26that was good stuff.
08:28190 kilos.
08:30Gosh,
08:30it's not that long ago that,
08:33it was Laurence Charle,
08:34actually,
08:34Mikiliszkowski's coach tonight,
08:36who did that as a British record.
08:38Things have moved on,
08:40but this would be a record for Luke Richardson.
08:42190 kilos.
08:43Worry to achieve it.
08:45He's going to be going head to head,
08:48with Big Tom Stoltman.
08:50Three-time world's strongest man.
08:53A man you'd expect to be 200 plus kilos tonight.
08:58So this is a big moment for Richardson.
09:00This is to try and not give away too much of an advantage
09:04to those who are likely to go on and do better.
09:06Oh,
09:07missed it.
09:08Well,
09:09Stoltman locks out,
09:10gets it.
09:11Now,
09:12will Richardson have a second go?
09:15I think he's worth it.
09:16It's almost as if he lacked the confidence a bit.
09:18He certainly threw it fast enough overhead.
09:21He's just got to stick it and hold it.
09:22Yes.
09:23And he locks out.
09:28Yes,
09:28he does.
09:32So two more go clear at 190.
09:34Man versus log continues when we return with Andre Foytu eyeing up the under-23 world record,
09:43Jack Osborne chasing the British one,
09:45and Tom Stoltman looking to beat them both in his backyard.
09:48Who will come out on top?
09:49We'll find out next on Giants Live.
09:51Well,
10:03welcome back to Glasgow,
10:05where the world log lift challenge continues, Colin.
10:09That's right.
10:10We're on to round four.
10:11200 kilograms,
10:12440 pounds,
10:13and four men have gone so far.
10:15Tom Stoltman has been successful,
10:17Richardson,
10:18Polpiak,
10:19and Bennett have all failed.
10:21So just two men to come and it's Foytu man who's had his eyes set on the world record for a long time.
10:30Skipped 190.
10:31How easy will 200 be?
10:38Manages it.
10:40Yeah,
10:41doesn't exactly dominate it though,
10:42does he?
10:43No,
10:44but it was enough.
10:47We've seen that in the past with the likes of Zabiscus.
10:49He would come out and skip weights and not look pretty convincing,
10:52and then pull it out when it mattered.
10:54Now,
10:55Jack Osborne looked very convincing at 190.
10:59He was choosing all the weights on the way up.
11:06Almost made it look easier than 190.
11:08I think he did.
11:09So we have three men going forward.
11:13He's all shoulder power.
11:15Didn't use his legs much there at all,
11:17Osborne.
11:17Very impressive.
11:19Tom Stoltman then.
11:24Will be attempting 210.
11:28Yes,
11:29for Stoltman,
11:29this is all about accruing points for the overall win.
11:33He won't really care so much if Osborne
11:35goes on and does whatever.
11:38He gets a success here.
11:39It'll be really good points in the log.
11:41It was quite clear he wanted big power from his little brother.
11:46The first attempt,
11:50a little shaky there.
11:52In fact,
11:52he's just seen stars of it.
11:55He's got to take his time.
11:56Step back.
11:58He knows the score.
11:59He knows what to do.
11:59Sometimes you bend down,
12:01you clean it up and suddenly it just crushes your windpipe a little bit.
12:07It's got to take a bit more air in as you pick it up.
12:11Keep it methodical.
12:12Up it goes.
12:18But there it stays,
12:19I'm afraid.
12:20Well,
12:21Tom Stoltman bows out at 210.
12:23The second attempt,
12:27a lot better than the first,
12:28but he'd already burned just too much energy in that first failure.
12:33And we move on with Andre Foyti.
12:36Also going for 210.
12:38A weight he handled last year
12:40at the World Log Championships comfortably.
12:44So this isn't any kind of a personal record,
12:46but
12:46he's at the stepping stone to Moore.
12:51Well,
12:51he's pleased with that.
12:53He's got the lead now then.
13:01What can Jack Osborne reply with?
13:05Picture of concentration
13:06as
13:07the Czech man
13:08drives it overhead.
13:11He'll be desperate to at least go 220.
13:13I'm sure to break his own Czech record.
13:18But Osborne though,
13:19this
13:19I think is really
13:21the last stepping stone
13:23before a British record.
13:24I can see him doing that today.
13:25221 kilos of Luke Stoltman
13:27if he nails this well.
13:31Oh,
13:31it was better than the last.
13:33Good Lord.
13:34Jack Osborne
13:35making that look like fun.
13:38Well, there could be a lot more in there.
13:40That was really impressive.
13:42Look at the way he drove it off his chest.
13:43It flew up.
13:44Barely had to press it with his triceps.
13:46And there's definitely 10,
13:48maybe more kilos in there.
13:52Well, Osborne has decided to skip 220.
13:56And for Foytu,
13:57well,
13:57this would be a junior world record.
14:01He'll be 24 soon.
14:02Making him a very old man.
14:04No longer a junior.
14:05Yes,
14:06and also a Czech record.
14:07So 10 kilos past what he did last year.
14:12If he gets this,
14:13it's an under 23 world record.
14:16It does?
14:17Surely.
14:18And it is.
14:19Well, he's having a nice night.
14:26Well, well, well.
14:27Pressure on Jack Osborne.
14:29Now he skips this.
14:30He's going to go for the British record,
14:32Osborne.
14:33And that was really solid.
14:38What can Jack Osborne reply with?
14:42It's coach,
14:44Laurence Charlet.
14:47Encouraging him.
14:49Yes,
14:50Charlet has coached him
14:51since before his first ever competition.
14:55As we move on to 222 kilos.
15:01This is for the British record.
15:07Here he goes.
15:09For one kilo more than Luke Stoltman's
15:11British record of 221 kilograms.
15:13Huge breath in.
15:20Oh, can he hold it?
15:22He can.
15:23And he's got it.
15:25The British record now belongs to Jack Osborne.
15:30Well, what a night.
15:31And I'm sure he'll probably call it a day there.
15:34That's a massive moment for him.
15:36A little stagger,
15:37but he's still got it up.
15:39Well, he's with Radzi now.
15:41Jack Osborne,
15:42you've just made history,
15:44a British record in the log press.
15:46How are you feeling?
15:47Ecstatic.
15:47Those first few lifts weren't moving very well,
15:51but as I kind of got heavier weights and that going,
15:53I actually started pressing normally and properly.
15:55Especially having this huge crowd here
15:57does get you amped up
15:58and get your adrenaline going,
15:59especially when you get to those heavier weights.
16:00How did you do it?
16:01Because just as you said,
16:02it seemed to get easier
16:03the heavier the log got.
16:06Kind of lazy in training.
16:07So when the weights get heavier,
16:09I actually kind of like
16:10get more energy into it,
16:12more enthusiasm.
16:13It is lazy,
16:14but having this huge crowd here
16:16and the bigger weights on there
16:17does get you fired up and that.
16:18And especially when it's like a record on there,
16:20you know,
16:21you have to go for it.
16:22So you have to put everything in.
16:24Jack,
16:24thank you for that entertainment
16:26and history made.
16:27Thank you very much.
16:27Osborne with the British record,
16:3042 setting a new under 23 world best
16:33and Tom Stoltman
16:34having to settle for third behind them both.
16:37While Osborne now bows out,
16:39the rest of the field continues
16:40with the world tour final.
16:42Radzi has more.
16:43It's time for event number two
16:45and this one is a fascinating one.
16:47It is the load and push.
16:49It is simple in theory.
16:51Take those three implements in relay form
16:53and load them into the skip.
16:56The problem is those implements
16:57are a sandbag,
16:58a tyre and an anvil
16:59with a combined weight of 360 kilograms.
17:03And after doing all that lung busting action,
17:06you then load them into this skip,
17:08aka the wheelbarrow of destiny.
17:11You pick it up at the end
17:12and run the 20 metres
17:14as long as humanly possible.
17:16The fastest man wins
17:18and it could come down
17:19to who wants it most.
17:20Well, three men have gone so far
17:23and Ryan Bennett of Great Britain
17:25has finished all of it
17:27in 51.58 seconds ahead
17:29of Maxime Boudreau.
17:31Polipiac, only two sections.
17:33So Crozier, Jeffers and Flynn
17:35next to take on the load and push.
17:39I'll be honest, budgets were down this year.
17:41This is just a bunch of stuff
17:42we found in the garage.
17:45And it's Crozier,
17:46Scotland's strongest man
17:48who's pushing Jeffers here
17:50for the lead.
17:51All three men onto the tyre,
17:53pretty much equally.
17:54Flynn on the far side,
17:55very quick though.
17:57Starts to make a bit of a lead here.
17:59That's Flynn and Crozier
18:01making fast work of this.
18:0351.58 to beat.
18:05150 kilo sack.
18:08This is a real brute of a finish.
18:11And that's just the loading section.
18:13There's left a wheel around these barrows,
18:16lift them and go.
18:17This is going to be
18:18a very quick finish,
18:20very tight finish.
18:22Call this one.
18:24England on the far side,
18:25Scotland on the near side.
18:26Who's going to get it?
18:28Well, it looks like Flynn to me.
18:30Crozier in second.
18:31And a little bit more pedestrian there
18:35from the Canadian Jeffers
18:37in the centre lane.
18:38He'll be a bit disappointed with that
18:40in his Giants' live debut.
18:45Flying Flynn.
18:47There's a bit of steering involved,
18:49isn't there?
18:50A little bit more than you'd think.
18:51More than you'd think.
18:53I can't remember the last time
18:54I drove a skip.
18:56On to Tim Buck,
18:57Evans, Nana and Gavin Bilton now.
19:01And Iga.
19:05Yes, Big Gab,
19:05the Welshman on the far side.
19:07Nana from Ghana
19:09in the middle.
19:10And this man, Tim Buck,
19:12too.
19:13He's from the USA.
19:17Nana's so quick.
19:19This is just a tailor-made event for him.
19:22He's got that speed,
19:24hasn't he, Evans, Nana?
19:25Yes, he just loosens his belt
19:26a little bit there as well
19:27to be able to get down to this sack.
19:29Oh, he's a little bit slow
19:30in the pick-up
19:31and it's Tim Buck.
19:33Again,
19:33a Giants' live debutant
19:35doing really well here.
19:39Nana moves on to the push.
19:40Buck as well,
19:41Bilton slightly behind.
19:44Now, what's the bit like of Nana?
19:46It's normally tremendous.
19:4949.58 to beat.
19:52And he's going to manage that.
19:53He's charging towards the line.
19:5651.21 for Evans, Nana.
19:58I'm not sure where Buck thinks he's going.
20:01But he finds the line.
20:0657.83 there for Tim Buck.
20:10And he certainly took the longest course
20:12when he was driving down with that skip.
20:15As for Nana, though,
20:15he looked really impressive.
20:17Luke Richardson,
20:20Tom Stoltman,
20:22Andre Foytu.
20:24Foytu's done so well already tonight.
20:28Well, these are your three big favorites
20:29now that Kiddushkowski is out of the competition
20:32for this title here
20:33at the World Tour Finals in Glasgow.
20:36And Luke Richardson,
20:37a man who's been plagued with injuries.
20:38And he pulled out something special here.
20:42He's already done it once this year,
20:43winning the European title.
20:46And he's well ahead of Tom Stoltman,
20:48the man on home soil
20:50who is expected to win.
20:53So much pressure on Big Tom's shoulders.
20:55Look at that.
20:58Determination.
20:59He's almost sinking into the ground,
21:00Richardson.
21:01As he moves to the push.
21:04Very quick at the pickup.
21:06He's got a great deadlift, Richardson.
21:07Now, can he steer this straight?
21:09Steer it home and under 49.58.
21:12He might just do that.
21:13I think he might.
21:15I think he did.
21:17By 600s of a second,
21:19he has done.
21:19Stoltman not far behind.
21:22All of them are going to get good points
21:23for this event.
21:2551.91 to Tom Stoltman.
21:31Foytu, 52.52.
21:36That's Foytu carrying great points
21:38in the log, of course.
21:39Richardson just playing catch-up here,
21:41but that's the best of anybody.
21:43He will get maximum points.
21:45Over to Radzi.
21:47Luke Richardson, load and push down.
21:49Load and push down extremely well.
21:50How does that feel on your body
21:52when you're performing that?
21:53Yeah, it's a really tough event.
21:54Obviously, it tests the fitness,
21:55but I'm fit enough.
21:57I won't say I'm a fit lad,
21:58but I'm fit enough.
21:59I tore my bicycle off
22:00four and a half months ago
22:01and had the surgery for that.
22:03And that bag was heavier
22:05than the one that I tore it on
22:06about four and a half,
22:07five months ago.
22:08So, yeah, just proving again
22:10the amount of people
22:11who said I'm done.
22:12I'm done when I say I'm done.
22:14So, that's it.
22:15Still winning a load in events.
22:16I don't care.
22:17What would you like us to know
22:18about you, by the way?
22:19Because you mentioned the journey.
22:20We know about the injuries.
22:21But what about the heart?
22:23Well, it speaks for itself.
22:25Many a man would have quit
22:26a long, long time ago.
22:27Not me.
22:28This is my life.
22:29It's what I do.
22:30It's what I'm good at.
22:31And I think that if you've got a gift,
22:32you should never neglect it.
22:33So, regardless of what happens,
22:35you've got to go for it.
22:36And you are going for it.
22:37Three more events to go.
22:38Cheers, mate.
22:40Luke with a fine win
22:42by a very fine margin,
22:44beating Andrew Flynn
22:45by just four one-hundredths
22:46of a second
22:47and less than a second
22:48separating the next four men
22:50from Evans Nanner in third
22:51to Tom Stoltman in sixth.
22:54Overall, it's Luke
22:56who's the early leader.
22:57Three points clear
22:58with Stoltman tied in second place
23:00right now with Andre Foytu.
23:02A point behind them,
23:03Ryan Bennett with Andrew Flynn
23:04and Evans Nanner then
23:05very much in the fight still
23:06for a podium place.
23:09There's work for three-time
23:11world champion Tom
23:12to do then here in Glasgow
23:13with clearly no shortage of rivals
23:15for the World Tour Finals crown.
23:18More drama awaits
23:19when we return on Giants Live.
23:21Welcome back to Glasgow
23:33where so far the crowd
23:35at the Ovo Hydra Arena
23:36have had plenty to cheer about
23:38between the big biceps
23:39and the pecs.
23:41Records broken in the log lift
23:42and a three-way tussle now
23:44atop the overall standings.
23:45What's next?
23:46Over to Colin and Danny.
23:48Well, thanks, James.
23:48And yes, the carry and drag.
23:50Very confusing name, Colin.
23:52What do you do?
23:52You have to carry a duck walk
23:54and then drag an anchor.
23:5510 metres then 20.
23:5760 seconds is the time limit
23:58and this is what's happened so far.
24:00Well, out in the lead
24:02so far,
24:03the Canadian, the Canadian Maxime Boudreau.
24:05Jefferson 42 just behind
24:06as we move on to Tom Stoltman,
24:09Ryan Bennett,
24:10Callum Crozier.
24:13The Scotsman closest to camera.
24:16And they're off.
24:18First of all, this duck walk.
24:21Crozier's going the wrong way entirely.
24:22If you want to look cool as a strongman,
24:29this isn't the event for it.
24:32Still to do a 360 degree turn
24:34with that weight.
24:34Very impressive,
24:35but it's a...
24:36This is an event he was looking
24:37to do really well at.
24:39This is the harder element though
24:40for the lighter man like Crozier.
24:41Big Tom's got that body weight
24:43to power it home.
24:46Ryan Bennett doing his very best
24:47to try and catch him,
24:49but surely this will be Stoltman's.
24:5132 seconds to beat.
24:53He's outside of that.
24:55But he sees it home
24:56and around about 37.61.
24:59Bennett in second
25:00and now Crozier.
25:03Wow.
25:03Two men have failed to finish this.
25:05He's still going to finish it
25:06despite that little pirouette
25:07with the duck walk.
25:08Yes, an unusual start for Crozier
25:10but managed around 49 seconds.
25:14This was the moment.
25:16Yes, a little moment of magic.
25:17He soon realized though, didn't he?
25:21Oh, it's painful.
25:24To Evans, Nana.
25:26Andrew Flynn and Luke Richardson now.
25:29Look at Kuma.
25:31Nana, yeah.
25:32Nearly dropping the gun there.
25:37Well, it's Luke Richardson
25:38who's doing very well here.
25:41Oh, my goodness.
25:42Please don't injure yourself again, Luke.
25:45Now, can he recover here?
25:47All three men pretty much equal
25:49at the start of this drag.
25:50Great footwork though
25:51from Richardson, the Englishman.
25:53But Nana also,
25:54pretty much even Stevens.
25:55In fact, he's in the lead, Nana.
25:58Well, Nana
25:59takes it.
26:01Oh, nearly.
26:01The crowd.
26:02And he takes out the crowd.
26:0429.85 for Luke Richardson.
26:0728.35.
26:10I'm sure he's fine for Evans, Nana.
26:13He went down heavy there.
26:15He gave everything for that one.
26:18That's the epivalent of diving in 100m races, isn't it?
26:21As for Richardson,
26:22ooh, the big wobble there.
26:24That could have been a whole lot worse.
26:26Good recovery from Richardson.
26:28Probably not the result he wanted.
26:30And there's 100% commitment from Nana.
26:33Evans, Nana,
26:34what would success look like for you
26:36by end of play today?
26:37I think I've already won.
26:40Why?
26:41The crowd.
26:42I love
26:43they make time to come see us
26:45and giving them something to go back home.
26:47Gives me happiness.
26:49My mum always said
26:50not everybody
26:51to be a champion.
26:52People are winners
26:53but a champion is someone
26:55who makes people's day.
26:57Who gives people something to think about.
26:59And I'm here to be a champion.
27:01Well said, sir.
27:02And finally,
27:02we can't take the smile off your face.
27:04Man, I love what I do.
27:05Seriously.
27:06I've given so much to be here
27:08and getting something back in return
27:11makes my day.
27:13I'm so satisfied, mate.
27:15We're satisfied talking to you, mate.
27:17It's a pleasure.
27:17Thank you so much, brother.
27:20Lovely stuff from Evans.
27:21The Ghanaian winning the crowd
27:22and event three.
27:24Richardson's second,
27:25despite his stumble,
27:26with Andrew Flynn flying into third.
27:28Timbuk, meanwhile,
27:29has withdrawn from the event, injured.
27:33Overall now,
27:34Luke Richardson's lead
27:35is up to five and a half points
27:37while Nana moves into second spot
27:39and Andrew Flynn
27:40is currently edging
27:41Foyto and Stoltman
27:42for the third podium position.
27:44It's tight, though.
27:45Can he hang on?
27:46He's with Radzi now.
27:49Andy Flynn,
27:50currently top three
27:51at an international show.
27:53Things are going pretty well for you.
27:55Things are going very well for me
27:56and I'll take it.
27:57But it's also very close.
27:59How are we feeling at this point?
28:01I always know going into this
28:02that the Wrecking Ball
28:03will be the deciding event.
28:04I think that's going to set the tone
28:06for like the last event as well.
28:08So this is all or nothing now.
28:10So with yourself,
28:11we know dynamically you're brilliant.
28:12You're a brilliant athlete.
28:13How are you statically
28:14when it comes to just that forearm lactic?
28:16I'm not putting it down
28:17unless my body gives way.
28:19I've done it twice already.
28:20So I kind of know a guideline
28:22for what I'm aiming for.
28:22About 85, 89 seconds I've done before.
28:25So I can go and see what they're doing
28:27and then I've got it in my mind.
28:29Mate, good luck.
28:29Thank you very much.
28:32Well, it's the Wrecking Ball hold now.
28:34That's the Wrecking Ball.
28:36They've got to hold it.
28:37270 kilos.
28:39Just don't let go.
28:41Yeah, 600 pounds in the hands
28:42and this is what's happened so far.
28:44Callum Crozier, the Scotsman,
28:45on top.
28:47One minute, 17 seconds
28:48ahead of Gavin Bilton.
28:50Bennett in third.
28:52Well, in fourth, Tom Stoltman.
28:54Things not really going his way tonight.
28:57Potentially his bicep recovery
28:59still going on.
29:01As we move on to Foytu and Jeffers.
29:08That's a tough result for Stoltman.
29:11Probably going to lose a lot of points.
29:13Let's see how these two men do.
29:14The only way this event could be improved
29:16is if we turned it into conquers.
29:19Can you imagine?
29:22I like that.
29:23Swinging it in.
29:25Probably be kind of bad for the back though.
29:27Both men.
29:29Having to dig deep in this event psychologically.
29:32Shutting their eyes.
29:35Waiting, hoping to hit the other guy.
29:37Drop it.
29:37It's a short handle they have to hang on to.
29:41It doesn't make it any easier.
29:42The only three fingers are really on it.
29:45Now then, we're up past 30 seconds.
29:47One minute, 17 from Crozier.
29:49Scotland's strongest man,
29:50which is a delightful result for him and the crowd.
29:53And there was evidence that up there, mate,
29:55because both men didn't stop being real close.
29:57A nervous glance at the clock from Jeffers there,
29:59but Foytu remains inside himself.
30:04Jeffers just leaning back more,
30:05trying to get his body weight into helping him here.
30:07He's got to be careful though.
30:08If he starts to rest that on his thighs,
30:11he will get cold for it.
30:12As it slips down,
30:13I think Jeffers is about to go.
30:15The Canadian on the right.
30:16That's that.
30:20Now Foytu.
30:21Little smile on Foytu's face.
30:22He likes that.
30:251.17 and a half to beat.
30:27And he has done that.
30:31He's sucking this up.
30:32He's in the lead by some margin now.
30:34Can he go to one minute 30?
30:36Looking really strong.
30:39Legs starting to wobble a bit.
30:40He's going down.
30:42Well, that is great work
30:44from Andre Foytu,
30:461.31,
30:483.7.
30:49That's a huge time.
30:51Very hard to see that being beaten.
30:53It's one of the best times we've ever seen
30:55on this implement.
30:56Such a tough character, Foytu.
30:59To Wolverine himself,
31:01Maxime Boudreau
31:02and Andrew Flynn.
31:05He's had his eye on this event, hasn't he?
31:09He's in a great position right now overall, Flynn.
31:11If he can just consolidate it
31:13with a good result here.
31:15For some reason,
31:16his wrecking ball is spinning.
31:17Yeah, that is a bit strange, isn't it?
31:18Maybe disco balls is the way to go.
31:24I'm just throwing ideas, you know?
31:25I'm just trying to help.
31:28I'll meet you at the design stage
31:29next time, Danny, I think.
31:32Flynn looks strong.
31:34It doesn't seem to be putting him off anyway.
31:36It isn't twisting the chain at all.
31:38As for the Wolverine,
31:40he's starting to wobble around a bit.
31:42Just past the 32nd mile.
31:44We've still got a whole minute to go
31:45before we get up to Andre Foytu.
31:47He's incredible.
31:47One minute, 31.37.
31:51They're passing Tom Stoltman right now
31:54and things are just getting worse
31:55for Big Tom.
31:59Boudreau
32:00starting to perhaps waver
32:02Flynn
32:03like granite.
32:07And in a night where there's only five events,
32:10a real bad event like
32:12what Tom Stoltman's had
32:13and all these men,
32:14there you go, Boudreau,
32:15it might not be great for him,
32:16but it's even worse for Stoltman.
32:18It's going to cost him
32:19a massive amount of points.
32:20Now, can Andy Flynn
32:21zone in on that 1 minute 31?
32:24He's
32:25no thing he's slipped at all here.
32:27He's still holding firm.
32:281 minute and 20.
32:3011 seconds to go.
32:32He's looking at that clock
32:33and he knows what he has to do.
32:341.31.37 to beat.
32:38Proper stoic look about him.
32:39He's so close.
32:42He couldn't wait.
32:441.31.75.
32:47He sort of enjoyed that.
32:48He couldn't wait.
32:50It's that feeling
32:51when you've carried shopping
32:52for too long
32:52and you finally release.
32:54The pain is even worse.
32:55Good for Andy Flynn.
32:57The spinning ball
32:57certainly didn't put him off.
33:02There's a pain-pleasure moment.
33:05Well, that's certainly
33:06thrown down a gauntlet
33:07to Luke Richardson
33:08and Evans Nanna.
33:12Yes, our final pairing.
33:15Oh, Nanna.
33:16Well, he should be allowed
33:17to go again.
33:18That was just a stumble
33:19with the kit.
33:19He is.
33:21But his time will start late.
33:24Yes, he hadn't locked out.
33:26So that means
33:27he could continue.
33:30Yes, had he lifted it
33:31and held it for a few seconds
33:32would be a different story.
33:33But Luke Richardson's
33:35just got to zone out
33:36and really focus on
33:38what he's about here.
33:39He looks very solid now,
33:42Nanna, doesn't he?
33:44Sometimes that jolt
33:45of adrenaline
33:45when things go wrong
33:46right at the start
33:47can just drive you on
33:48to an even better performance.
33:50Five seconds
33:51is the difference
33:53we're talking about here.
33:54So whatever the clock says,
33:55add five seconds for Nanna.
33:58We'll get the official time
34:00from head ref
34:01Magnus Farr.
34:01Magnus at the end of this.
34:08He's not looking comfortable,
34:10Richardson.
34:11He's not enjoying this,
34:12is he?
34:14Can you enjoy it?
34:15Is it possible
34:15to enjoy this?
34:17If you're of a strange disposition,
34:19yes.
34:21Oh, they're in different positions.
34:23Nanna
34:23is starting to be pulled forward.
34:25Richardson's been pulled
34:26to the ground.
34:26I don't think he's got any more.
34:28No.
34:28Well, 1.13.45
34:30for Luke Richardson.
34:33Oh, my fingers are opening up.
34:35Look at this.
34:37Well, that's brave
34:38from Evans Nanna.
34:401.19.81
34:42his time.
34:44Yes, the five-second penalty
34:45from this stumble.
34:48He regrouped,
34:49picked it up,
34:50did a great time in the end.
34:51Finishing third.
34:53Andrew Flynn takes the win
34:54but edging out
34:55Andre Foytu
34:56by just a few tenths
34:57of a second.
34:58Nanna in third
34:59with overall leader
35:00Luke Richardson in fifth
35:01and Tom Stoltman in tenth.
35:03His comeback hopes
35:04look done.
35:05With one event to go then,
35:07Luke Richardson's lead
35:08is down to two and a half points
35:09from Andrew Flynn
35:10who's moved into second.
35:12Evans Nanna
35:12now only half a point
35:13clear of Foytu
35:14in the race for third.
35:16Stoltman lying fifth
35:17a remarkable 13 points
35:18off his usual top spot.
35:21Tom Stoltman,
35:22the day obviously hasn't gone
35:23as you dare I say
35:24they've liked it too.
35:25How's it gone from your end?
35:26Yeah, I mean,
35:27I had no expectations.
35:28I came in saying
35:29I was just doing log
35:29and then last week
35:31I said I did a full competition.
35:32I've not competed in Glasgow
35:33for like two years
35:34so I thought,
35:35you know what,
35:35let's just do it.
35:36But I just wanted to go
35:37get through the show
35:37without any touchwood
35:39bicep injuries
35:41or anything else
35:42and see how the bicep held up.
35:43And like I said,
35:44the bicep's holding up
35:45so far so good.
35:46One four down,
35:48one left.
35:48Is the Stones
35:49going to end on a high?
35:51Yeah,
35:51this is the one
35:52I'm most scared for.
35:52I'm not touching out
35:53the Stones since August
35:54so yeah,
35:55my heaviest stone
35:56I've been up to
35:57in the gym
35:57the last three months
35:59is 140
35:59so if I get past 140,
36:01totally if I get past 140,
36:02we're going to be happy.
36:03So even Tom Stoltman's
36:05got questions
36:05about the Stones?
36:06Yeah,
36:06that's what I tore my bicep on
36:08and it's still a wee bit
36:08of a dark spot
36:10so that's exactly why
36:11I wanted to do this as well
36:12to see,
36:12I mean,
36:12this is a heavier
36:13set of Stones
36:14so if I can do this
36:15I know my bicep's 100%
36:17so I can push on
36:17for next year.
36:18Good luck today, mate.
36:21The Albatross
36:22hoping to finish
36:23on a high
36:23but it's two other
36:24British contenders
36:25who will battle
36:25for top spot.
36:26Flynn and Richardson
36:28who will take the crown?
36:29The Castlestones
36:30will decide
36:31when we return.
36:32Welcome back
36:46to Glasgow
36:47and the World Tour Finals
36:48over to Colin and Danny.
36:50So,
36:51one event to go,
36:52Colin.
36:53And it's Luke Richardson
36:54on top,
36:55Andy Flynn
36:56currently in second,
36:57Nana in third
36:57and look at that,
36:58Tom Stoltman
36:59down in fifth
37:00coming into the Stones,
37:01the Castles,
37:02and they're the big set.
37:04Finishing on 200 kilos,
37:0560 seconds
37:06to try and do the lot.
37:09So far,
37:10we've had five men go
37:11and it's Gavin Bilton
37:12on five stones,
37:1429 seconds
37:15who's in the lead.
37:19So,
37:20Ryan Bennett
37:20and Tom Stoltman
37:21next.
37:22Perhaps
37:22Tom can find
37:23some redemption
37:24here after
37:25a disappointing night
37:28for him.
37:29If he's going to find
37:30redemption in anything
37:31it's going to be
37:32slap Duncan
37:32these stones on,
37:33that's for sure.
37:34Looks pretty good
37:35so far.
37:36120,
37:37140,
37:37160 kilogram
37:38like nothing.
37:4029.98 to beat,
37:42he's halfway there
37:43with one stone to go.
37:45He's going to stumble
37:46on Andy,
37:46it'll be the big
37:47200 kilo one.
37:48he nails it.
37:5123.52 for Tom Stoltman,
37:54a fantastic result.
37:57That's about seven seconds
37:58quicker than what
37:58Gav Bilton did
37:59so he's way in the lead.
38:01That's a huge result for him
38:02and in many ways
38:05it sets him up for
38:06what's coming ahead.
38:10This was really
38:11a test for him
38:12not so much
38:13just about winning
38:14just getting through it
38:15and Ryan Bennett
38:17failing to do the fifth there
38:18but he's had a great night
38:20and what is
38:21one of his
38:21first ever
38:22big internationals.
38:24Stoltman though
38:26passes the test.
38:28So Foytu
38:28and Nanna
38:29next to take on the stones.
38:30Don't forget
38:31our podium result tonight
38:32whoever is top three
38:34will qualify
38:35for the world's
38:36strongest man finals.
38:38Nanna from Gano
38:39on the right
38:40Foytu
38:40from the Czech Republic
38:41on the left
38:42looking really quick
38:43neither man
38:43exactly a giant
38:45in terms of height
38:46so these first few stones
38:47can be a problem
38:48and Nanna indeed
38:49clips the stone
38:51on the way up
38:51to the third.
38:52This will be
38:53something else
38:53if Foytu
38:54were to get this up
38:55he could even beat
38:55Tom Stoltman.
38:57Well only half a point
38:58separates these men
38:59whoever wins this
39:00and I don't think
39:01it'll be Nanna
39:02well we will see
39:03Foytu
39:04in the finals.
39:08Well Nanna
39:09didn't hurt himself
39:09there
39:09he doesn't appear to have
39:11only just went
39:13too quickly
39:14too early
39:14at the fifth stone
39:15when he needed
39:16just to regroup
39:16he's had a bit of time
39:18no
39:18exhaustion
39:19kicks in of course
39:20well Evans
39:21now managed four
39:22may be injured
39:24what an impressive run
39:27though by Foytu
39:28he's really come a pace
39:30except for the tacky
39:31stuck the t-shirt
39:33to his hand
39:33that was the most
39:34disappointing t-shirt
39:35throw of all time
39:36he needs to work on that
39:39well he's 23
39:41he'll be in the world's
39:44strongest man finals
39:44up to Andrew Flynn
39:47and Luke Richardson
39:48final pair
39:52Richardson on the right
39:53the man in the driving
39:54seat at the moment
39:55Flynn on the left
39:56who's really attacking
39:57oh no
39:58that's a bad error
40:00from Flynn
40:00if it doesn't go in
40:02you've got to replace it
40:03and he's done that
40:04he knows that
40:04this is going to cost him
40:06heavy though
40:06Richardson
40:08going through the motions
40:10here now
40:10just needs to put in
40:12a good performance
40:12and he will be the world
40:13tour finals champion
40:14this would crown it off
40:16well here it is
40:17the final stone
40:18for Luke
40:19the future Richardson
40:21and he does it
40:2231.03 for Luke
40:26and look at this
40:26from Flynn
40:27after a disastrous start
40:29I don't know about
40:31flying Flynn
40:32but fighting Flynn
40:33fighting back
40:33doing six stones
40:34in 38 and a half seconds
40:36impressive
40:36yes both men
40:38should feel pretty proud
40:40of themselves there
40:41there's Richardson's
40:42fiancée
40:42two titles he's taken
40:47this year
40:47Europe's strongest man
40:48now the world tour
40:50finals
40:50and Flynn
40:51podium
40:52one of the big ones
40:53it's all about this man
40:57the future
40:58he looks really solid
41:00from start to finish
41:02no injuries
41:04he'll be thrilled
41:04with that
41:05there he is on top
41:06he'd like to see that
41:07at world's strongest man
41:08we'll have to wait and see
41:09Foytu and Flynn
41:10round out the podium
41:11but look at Stoltman
41:12I think a good performance
41:14by a man looking
41:15to get through this contest
41:16unscathed
41:18well tonight belongs to him
41:19they call him the future
41:21they might be right
41:23and he's with Ramsey now
41:24world tour finals champion
41:28Luke Richardson

41:31yeah it sounds great
41:31yeah I feel really good
