00:24Derek Stingley, and you heard D'Amico Ryans in that locker room speech.
00:27First pick six for Stingley.
00:28I had known it was his first pick six in the NFL.
00:31I knew that.
00:32I didn't know it was his first one since high school.
00:34Yeah, and the beauty of that play was, too, we've seen this out of Stingley before.
00:40It reminded me a little bit of that interception he had against the Browns towards the end of the 2023 season,
00:48where it's a combination of a good pass rush, forcing an errant pass,
00:54but then Stingley's ball skills and his ability to make plays on errant throws,
00:59where it's not like he had to be brilliant in coverage there,
01:02but he did bait the quarterback a little bit and then come in and is able to snatch an errantly thrown ball.
01:08I think it was the Broncos against Russell Wilson.
01:10He had a couple picks in that game.
01:11Well, it was the one that was tipped by Daniil Hunter, remember, and he had to reach back for it.
01:15It was tipped by Will Anderson.
01:16It was 2023 because Daniil wasn't on the team yet.
01:18Oh, I meant Will Anderson.
01:20Will Anderson.
01:21No, I think that was the Broncos game.
01:22Yeah, yeah, that was the Broncos game.
01:24So, pick six by Stingley, which at that point makes the game 7-0, and you feel like, okay.
01:29You know, the offense didn't do much on their first drive,
01:31but the defense is giving you a little B-12 shot here.
01:35Not the case.
01:36This wound up being a close game all day long.
01:37The Stingley pick six was ultimately the difference in the game.
01:42The Raiders would respond.
01:46Brock Bowen, they're better players.
01:48The Raiders would respond with a touchdown drive a little later on in the first half.
01:55Early in the second quarter, here was Brock Bowen, who's big on this drive, by the way.
01:59He ended up with five catches.
02:00They were all short, but here was the touchdown.
02:03Third down and six at the Houston seven.
02:05Smith shotgun, Mostert to his left.
02:08Bachman motioning around.
02:09Here's the snap.
02:10Four-man rush.
02:10Smith throwing to the end zone and caught Bowers.
02:14Touchdown.
02:15Wow.
02:15Seven-yard TD pass to Brock Bowers.
02:18Took a hit, held onto the ball.
02:19Yeah, and he shook Kalen Bullock there.
02:23And really, it was a really nice piece of route running by Brock Bowers there.
02:29So, Brock Bowers largely held in check for most of the day.
02:34He certainly didn't have a Trey McBride type of day.
02:36Five catches for under 40 yards in the game.
02:38Yeah.
02:39So, I mean, that one, and that was the one sustained drive that the Raiders had.
02:43And Brock Bowers did damage, but it wasn't, it didn't feel like, oh, Brock Bowers is torching you all over the field.
02:50No, that was a, that's a classic, man.
02:52It's, you put defensive backs in a bind or, and linebackers covering tight ends in the red zone.
02:57The big play on that drive, maybe this is the play we should have played because it was a beautiful pass by Geno Smith.
03:03But Geno kind of rolling out to the right, throws back across to the rookie Jack Besch.
03:08Yeah.
03:08To the left.
03:09Yeah.
03:09And it was a beautiful, beautiful throw.
03:12That was one of those ones that was a reminder like, oh yeah, Geno Smith had a horrible year, but he can make some throws, you know.
03:18So, the, the, the Raiders would score a touchdown there.
03:23The, we'd get to the second half.
03:25It was 13, still not able to get in the end zone offensively.
03:30The Raiders get the ball.
03:32Texans get the ball to start the second half.
03:34Um, don't do anything with it to start the second half.
03:37The Raiders get the ball after that, and, uh, they took advantage of Henry Toa Toa on their first possession of the second half with this touchdown pass.
03:45Samantha, the gun.
03:47Texans set an extra rusher.
03:49A throw downfield, and it's caught by Gentee down the left sideline across the 15.
03:53Breaks a tackle.

03:55Touchdown, Raiders.
03:57There's a combination of multiple bad things on that.
04:00Uh, uh, two of them by Toa Toa, one by Miles Bryant.
04:04One was Toa Toa just kind of got stuck in no man's land with his eyes in the backfield before he, you know, realized he had to cover Gentee.
04:12And he's immediately at a disadvantage.
04:14And Miles Bryant coming over to, uh, I, I just kind of throw himself sacrificially as a speed bump in front of Ashton Gentee.
04:21But then Henry Toa Toa watching that and becoming spectator instead of coming down to, uh, like, I decided, like, he had a, I, I've tried to be as fair as possible with this and say, okay, did Toa Toa actually have a chance to get in on the tackle?
04:38A, doesn't matter.
04:39Keep going.
04:40You've got a chance to get in on the tackle.
04:42B, I think he did.
04:43Like, he was, Gentee was slowed up enough that Toa Toa could have got there.
04:47Yeah, Gentee had to shed a human being in Miles Bryant.
04:50I mean, Miles Bryant bounced off him, but he had to, he slowed down.
04:52Whether he could have or could have not done it, there's no decision making involved there.
04:56You keep going.
04:57It wasn't like it was on the one yard line where if you hit him, you're knocking him into the end zone.

05:02You've got a chance to help make a play right there.
05:04I don't know why he slowed down.
05:05He's not that type of, I want to, I want to give him a partial pass on it because he's not that kind of guy.

05:12And sometimes you just, yeah.

05:15Henry Toa Toa, stomach bug.
05:17So that would make it 14-13.
05:19And that was the moment, Seth, where, you know, I'm like, okay, well, these guys aren't going away today.
05:24You know, now you're trailing these guys.
05:26You hadn't been trailing.
05:27That was the first lead that the Raiders had in an NFL football game since week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
05:35They had not had a lead in a game since before Thanksgiving.
05:40Well before Thanksgiving.
05:42So the Raiders lead 14-13.
05:45This is when the natives started getting restless a little bit.
05:48Texans get the ball back.
05:50Like, okay, guys, let's get it going.
05:51This is the Raiders.
05:52Let's get it going here.
05:53The Texans go three and out.
05:55And the third down play was Max Crosby just murdering a human being.
05:59Draw play.
06:00And he's brought down by Crosby for a loss.
06:03Nobody touched him.
06:04Yeah.
06:04Nobody touched Max Crosby.
06:06He just got out of his stance and almost took the dang handoff with Tawar Jordan.
06:14That's the appropriate amount of frustration from Andre Ware right there.
06:16Yeah.
06:17And you can hear the boo birds in the background.
06:19Texan fans, it takes a lot to get them to boo, like, really boo and hear it through the glass up in the press box.
06:25Texan fans were pissed at this point.
06:27If I freeze this at the snap, do you see how far ahead Max Crosby is from every other defensive lineman?
06:33He got a jump on the snap count there.
06:35And he had enough.
06:37He did have an offsides in this game, right?
06:39Yeah.
06:39I mean, he timed the snap count there.
06:42And I know people nailing for predictability or what have you.
06:49It was a beautiful play by him.
06:51I don't think he knew what play was coming because he's headed straight at the quarterback.
06:55And like his path takes him right to the running back.
06:58And, but I think he also knew that there might be enough there that at the very end,
07:04he could tell that it wasn't going to be a fake handoff.
07:06Yeah.
07:07That's the execution of this play.
07:09And just the, that, that they don't have much of a zone read game or anything like that.
07:17I think that it's just a hell of a play by Max Crosby.
07:19It was brutal.
07:20That was the low point of the game.
07:21I think for a lot of people like, all right, what are we doing here?
07:24Texans would go on to kick a field goal a little later on in the third quarter.
07:28Kymie Fairbairn, we should point out was outstanding yesterday.
07:30He'll get acknowledged here in about the next seven or eight minutes, 55, 50, and 49 yard
07:36field goals.
07:36There were no chippies for Kymie Fairbairn, a 49 yard field goal at the, towards the end
07:41of the third quarter puts the Texans ahead 16 to 14.
07:45The Raiders would get the ball back.
07:46They would punt the ball to the Texans early in the fourth quarter.
07:49Texans would then go on a 10 play, 88 yard drive, largely fueled by two plays.
07:56One from Nick Chubb.
07:58Second and one at the Houston 32, Hutchinson in motion to the right side.
08:01Now back to the left.
08:02That box is loaded.
08:04CJ, hands off to Chubb, running right now, straight ahead across the 35, 40, breaks the
08:08tackle, 45 in the open field, 50, right side, and dragged out inside the 40 yard line.
08:14Nick Chubb off to the races.
08:15Crosby tracked him down, but not until Chubb got the ball in Raider territory at the 38.
08:21Big run.
08:21I don't, I think, at the end there, when Vandy says him down,
08:27this was a 30 yard run that Max Crosby chases down Nick Chubb.
08:32I mean, Max Crosby.
08:34He's just all over the place.
08:35I feel bad for him.
08:36You had to jump over somebody to get there on the way.

08:39I say I feel bad for him, but you know my rule.
08:40If you sign an extension with a bad organization, you shouldn't feel bad for that person.
08:44I said, when I was on it with a Raiders broadcast last week, they asked about what my opinions
08:49were on whether they should try to trade away a guy like Max Crosby or keep him.
08:53I mean, he's such a heart and soul type of guy.
08:55Yeah.
08:55And on an organization like the Raiders where they want it to mean something to be a Raider,
09:00he feels like he's a Raider.
09:02You know, Lonnie Johnson, not so Raiders on that play.
09:07How bad was the mistackle?
09:09Well, he didn't actually try to, he thought he was just gonna, you know, lay a shoulder
09:13into Nick Chubb.
09:14Yeah.
09:15And Nick Chubb showed that, hey, I might not have the same explosiveness I used to have,
09:19but I'm a bigger, stronger guy than you, Lonnie Johnson.
09:21Lonnie Johnson.
09:22You're going to bounce off of me if you just try to throw your body at me.
09:25I'm glad you brought up Lonnie Johnson.
09:26Cause the other big play on this drive, a pass interference penalty, um, deep in Raider
09:32territory.
09:33I'm watching this back and forth.
09:34Lonnie Johnson bouncing off of me.

09:37Here's Lonnie.
09:38Here's a, this is the other big play that set the Texans up in first and goal.
09:43CJ calls for the ball.
09:44Here's the snap.
09:45Stroud throwing left side of the end zone.
09:47Watch Nico and can't find him a little too far.
09:50And there's a flag down.
09:51Lonnie Johnson, the former Texan interfered with Nico.
09:56And that's why you take shots.
10:07Call this as Lonnie held the right arm of Nico.
10:11Make no mistake between that missed tackle on Nick Chubb and that defensive pass interference.
10:15Lonnie Johnson did more to help the Texans win a game as a Raider than he ever did as
10:20a Houston Texan.
10:21This one, I know like, uh, Nico came up big in two caused, uh, defensive pass interferences,
10:27which were big, you know, that's a big penalty.
10:29The second one was massive.
10:30This one, uh, I mean, this was a very catchable ball.
10:34I think that if anybody, I, I, I can't remember who I heard, whether it was the TV or the radio
10:38saying that, like, I don't know if, if there was that much there, um, this one landed in
10:43bounds, like clearly in bounds and he grabbed his arm and he had him by the arm.
10:47Yeah.
10:48Like, so whether Nico sold it or not, I don't think it mattered.
10:50That was clearly obvious and easy passenger.
10:53It wasn't hand fighting.
10:54He grabbed his hand and it looked very much like a safety who'd been caught, um, in a,
10:59in a bad situation.
11:00So now you can breathe a little bit.
11:02You're up by two scores.
11:03It's 23, 14.
11:04That touchdown was scored with seven minutes and 41 seconds left in the game.
11:09So now you can say, okay, look, as a defense, we gave up one sustained drive for a touchdown
11:13to Brock Bowers.
11:14We gave up a 60 yard play to Ashton Gentry.
11:17Like we just haven't been doing that this year.
11:19We just got to play defense at this point.
11:21You're up by two scores.
11:22The only thing you can't do is give up a quick touchdown on a big play.
11:28So what are the Texans do yesterday?
11:31And again, missed tackles.
11:33Tackling was poor yesterday.
11:34A lot of times this was Ashton Gentry getting another long touchdown out of the gun, hands
11:39off to Gentry running left and Gentry escapes to the left side, 40 Gentry, another escape
11:4535, 30, 20, 10, 5, touchdown Raiders.
11:50Unbelievable.
11:51Gentry to the house.
11:53Just when you thought the Texans might be out of the woods, they're back in.
11:57That's exactly it.
11:58Vandy nailed it.
11:59Just like I thought when they scored that touchdown to Dalton Schultz after that Nico
12:03pass interference.
12:04We should have mentioned Dalton Schultz with the touchdown.
12:06I said, okay, this is what good teams do to bad teams that are hanging around.
12:09You get a two score lead and then just smother this, this play too.
12:13I mean, there was, there was just a, it was so well defended initially that there were
12:19too many guys for everybody who wanted to get a shot, get in at it.
12:23So EJ speed kind of ended up coming around to his left when technically he should have
12:28stayed to his right.
12:29But at that point, you're just, it's a gang tackle and that opens the door.
12:33And then I, if I remember correctly, miles Bryant misses the tackle on his way down to
12:38the, to the, to the goal.
12:39Now Kamari Lasseter did chase him full speed all the way into the end zone.
12:43Unlike Henry tow, a tow on the first touchdown.
12:45Now Kamari Lasseter later on did have the second time this year where he curiously has kind
12:50of watched a guy catch the ball in front of the first down marker and then just let him
12:54roll.
12:55It's the weirdest thing that has now become a trend with Kamari Lasseter because he's the
13:00most, one of the most violent guys in the NFL, but he's got humanity to him.
13:05And he also knows that if he, if he hits that guy, he's going to get flagged.
13:08And I think, I think he gets stuck in this moment where he's like, I'm not allowed to
13:12smash him.
13:12What do I do?
13:13I can just go down and touch him, touch him, put him in one finger, just touch him, just
13:17touch him.
13:17Don't watch him roll into the past the first down marker.
13:20All right.
13:21So the Texans would get the ball back.
13:22And now it's 23, 21.
13:23Now you got, now you gotta go make some plays.
13:27Ball back with five minutes and 24 seconds left.
13:31Jalen Noel would have one of the worst returns he's had as a kick returner.
13:36He just run, he gets the ball, just starts running east, west.
13:40He returns the ball for 10 yards.
13:42So the Texans are starting at their own 17 and this drive is going so poorly.
13:47First play.
13:48Remember CJ, CJ fumbles the snap on the first play from scrimmage.
13:52So now they've got second and 21 at the, at their own six yard line.
13:57They, they run, they run a play.
14:00They run Jor Jordan up the middle for a yard on second and 21 crowd.
14:03Love that.
14:04That was huge.
14:05Yeah.
14:05That was big.
14:06Set up third and 20 set up third and 20.
14:10But then the, this, this passenger, we were not going to play this one, but the pass interference
14:14on Nico Collins on this drive.
14:16Every bit as big as the one that he got prior to Dalton Schultz's touchdown, because if that
14:23ball is called incomplete, you're punting the ball from your own, you're putting the
14:27ball out of your end zone with under four minutes to go.
14:31And the Raiders just have to move the ball, maybe 15 yards to get a look at a game winning
14:35field goal in this game.
14:36Pass interference gets you out of the shadows of your own goalpost.
14:39And now you start to move the ball a little bit and the big one here, they had a third
14:44and five at their own 33.
14:46So again, you don't convert there.
14:48The Raiders are at least going to get the ball back here with a chance to kick a field goal.
14:52But CJ came up big to Jaden Higgins.
14:54Third and five for the Houston 33.
14:56Stroud to the gun.
14:56One back.
14:57CJ looks it over.
14:59Stroud calls for the ball.
15:00Here's the snap.
15:01Stroud stepping up.
15:02Stroud throwing over the middle.
15:03And he's got Higgins for the first down.
15:06Down at mid-fence.
15:08What a time to make his first catch of the game.
15:11First catch of the day, man.
15:12He just settled right down in that soft spot.
15:14Yeah, well, and this one was a really good job of CJ stepping up in the pocket and kind
15:19of throwing while he was still on the move.
15:22He's done a good job of that since he came back from his concussion.
15:25Really, the first half since in the first game back, he looked uncomfortable in the pocket.
15:30And since then, I think he's increasingly grown more and more comfortable.
15:33Some of the frustrating plays in this game were, you know, when there was really good
15:38pass protection and he sat there calmly in the pocket for a while.
15:43In the first half, I don't, I don't know if it was at times just whether, I almost talk
15:48about him like a pitcher where he just struggled to gain command early in the game.
15:53There were some errant throws where I think he was just like throwing it away or being
15:57hyper careful with it.
15:58But by the second half, he'd settled in.
16:01Do you think CJ, this may deserve a little more time than we have here?
16:05Because we're going to do acknowledge me.
16:06We're going to play Nico Collins catch here.
16:07But as long as we're talking about this, CJ has not been running the ball at all since
16:12coming back from the concussion.
16:13I'm looking at his game logs.
16:15Yeah.
16:15Before the concussion, five rushes, four rushes.
16:18These aren't knees that he's taking.
16:20I mean, these aren't games that they're losing early in the season.
16:22Five rushes, four rushes, four rushes.
16:24He had a rush for 30 yards against Baltimore.
16:26He had two for 25 against Seattle, seven for 30 against the San Francisco 49ers.
16:33Since he's come back, Seth, he's had a total of, since he's come back from the concussion
16:38in four games, he's had 13 carries for 15 yards.
16:41And half of those are knees he's taking.
16:43In this particular game, since where, again, when I say when they play two man, they've
16:51got two high and everybody else in man coverage that, that does sometimes present opportunities
16:57for the quarterback to run the, the, the play calling though.
17:02So it was almost, it was almost like Nick Cayley didn't expect there to be good pass protection.
17:07And sometimes when there was good pass protection, they've got a lot of guys on shallower routes
17:12who were plastered and there weren't necessarily opportunities for CJ to run.
17:17Um, if you could go back in time and just send guys more vertical, if you knew the pass protection
17:22was actually going to be good versus a four man rush, CJ would have had some opportunities
17:27to run.
17:27I don't, I don't know if yesterday he had as many opportunities to run as it might've
17:31felt like, even when he was holding the ball, there were still a lot of guys in coverage
17:35and, you know, inside of 10 yards.
17:37Yeah.
17:37It's just, it's four games now.
17:38He hasn't been doing it at all.
17:39And I think a lot of the runs that he has had have been off of boots or where he's scrambling
17:43and he can run out of bounds.
17:45Yeah.
17:45Uh, where earlier in the season, there were more instances.
17:47It felt like of him just taken off up the, up the middle of plays that got him hurt.
17:52Yeah.
17:52You know, that's what I'm wondering.
17:53I'm wondering if, and whether it's by instruction or whether it's by instruction.
17:57He's definitely been running the ball a lot less since the concussion.
18:01I think it's something worth noting because that had become a valuable weapon for the Texans
18:05CJ with his legs and he's not been doing it as much.
18:07So I'm just curious about that.
18:08Last one here in the voice of Vandy segment, this was the dagger split backs for CJ 38 at
18:16the Raider 37.
18:17Here's the snap.
18:18Here's the blitz.
18:19Stroud fires downfield to his left and caught along the sideline.
18:23Nico Collins, the dagger at the third.
18:27I mean, that, that's just throwing it up in double coverage to your best player and
18:33he goes and makes a play.
18:34I mean, he read cover too.
18:36And, uh, and Nico did a really good job of getting to the exact spot that he needed to
18:43be.
18:43And CJ making the throw.
18:45I felt like CJ may have forced it against cover to a couple of times early in the game.
18:49Um, but this one was just, it was, it's a lot like the Davis mills pass at the end of
18:53the Titans game.
18:54Um, whereas just the red dropped it right in the honey hole between the safety and the
18:59cornerback.
19:00And then Nico makes a, an incredible play to get his elbow down before anything else.
19:05If I'm a Raiders fan, I'm probably saying, yeah, but his elbow was down at the same time
19:08as shoulder out of bounds.
19:09Nope.
19:10It was a, uh, uh, microsecond.
19:12His elbow hit a microsecond before his shoulder went out of bound.
19:16One elbow equals two feet.
19:18If that plays incomplete, D'Amico Ryans is facing a really interesting decision there
19:22because that was third and eight at the Las Vegas 37 yard line.
19:26Yeah.
19:26So it would have been fourth and eight at the Las Vegas 37 yard line at the two minute warning
19:31with about two with you there.
19:33There, there are two minutes at that point.
19:35Um, boy, do you kick a field goal there?
19:38If you miss, that's a 55 yard field goal.
19:41If you miss the Raiders are getting the ball at their own 45 yard line with plenty of time
19:46to get into field goal range.
19:47And they've been moving the ball at times against you.
19:49Yeah.
19:49So that would have been interesting.
19:50We did, fortunately it didn't come to that, but that would have been a really interesting.
19:53I think, I think D'Amico would have trusted Kymie Fairbairn to kick a field.
19:56And even then you're still only up five, you know?
19:59So that was, uh, that was, I mean, one of the biggest plays of the year that, that throw
20:03to Nico Collins.
20:04I mean, really the, the drawn pass interferences to Nico, uh, just as big a deal as big as
20:10any of the catchers.
20:10I mean, the one bigger, yeah.
20:12Uh, it's, uh, the one set up a touchdown.
20:15Um, the other, the other helped you seal the game.
20:18And I know a lot of people, the second drawn pass interference was when people were saying
20:23it wasn't a catchable ball.
20:24Look, when the guy just tackles you before you ever, yeah, it's a bear hug.
20:28You call that the catchable ball doesn't play into it when you just bear hug a guy.
20:33Nope.
