00:06and i do by the way appreciate you guys being flexible with me today i got to get over to my

00:12uh my daughter's parent teacher conference okay um i don't you know it's one of those things

00:18where my wife i guess just schedules it without asking me what my schedule is so now not only do

00:27i have to move you guys i have to move my even money betting podcast which by the way

00:33we were perfect this week wow which i don't think has ever happened i was 16 of 16 steve was eight

00:43of eight and our combined best bets that's when we agree we're four for four so if you're not

00:50listening or watching the even money betting podcast you're doing it wrong but yes i appreciate

00:56the flexibility are you guys when you were with your kids yeah were you big question askers

01:02at parent teacher conferences or do you just sit there like a dummy no i'm i'm just trying to run

01:08out the clock situation ross i'm just trying to get out of there those parents and i'm lucky mike i

01:13didn't i'm lucky my three kids i didn't have a there weren't a ton of issues you know i mean my kids

01:18were they were pretty good kids so i was just trying to get out unless the teacher was good looking and

01:23then you know you hang out for a little while longer yeah that's not creepy whatsoever

01:27there's your honest answer my kid was always hypercritical like would any little uh like

01:37mistake they may have made or something was always like um it was presented to me uh that that my kid

01:43was the worst kid in the world and i'd go into like by my kid and then i'd go into the parent teacher

01:49conference kind of expecting the worst and the teacher would be like what the hell are you talking

01:52about no absolute delight that's a good job set low expectations going in it's nice it's funny

02:00because it's funny because it's like a psychology thing where i know my daughters get pretty good

02:07grades and i know they're pretty good girls so they're gonna be my primarily positive but i'm looking

02:15for any little sign of weakness any any comment it's like you know what it is you ever fill out

02:23a survey okay and there's like five questions and you give a 10 for four of them and then the one

02:31answer you give a nine i didn't realize this so you talk to people that like run surveys that nine is

02:37what they're looking for that nine is the red flag that nine is like well what happened why wasn't it a

02:42trend oh wow okay boy i've because i don't go straight tens on a lot of these things i've so

02:48i've caused a lot of commotion through the years with my eights and nines okay oh no i found out

02:53recently my uber driver said man what have you done like what are you talking about he said you have a

03:00uh i guess my my uber rating is like a 4.86 oh my god wow which which means several people have given

03:08me not a five my wife's theory is that it's because i i'm a door slammer yes okay you know and i don't

03:16even realize that but i that's awful my wife says i'm a door slammer um my theory is that there may have

03:25been a time or 10 where um i brought a beverage with me into the uber yeah um because i talked to an uber

03:35driver and he said that is highly illegal yes nationally and i was like oh okay sorry i didn't

03:40know that i'll i'll pour it out so that that's more of my theory yeah there you go there you go

03:46all right ross we've got you for 10 minutes here so let's get uh let's get in a little chatter let's

04:02shador sanders and if so how was he yes did do a production meeting with him i thought he was

04:07great yeah i thought he was great he's um he's a very interesting young man i would say he's sort of

04:16um happy-go-lucky you know um maybe almost like a little bit goofy um but i really appreciated it it was

04:27it was a good conversation um you know it was very very clear which i appreciated that he knew

04:37just how important this opportunity was you know i had i had read an article i think it was diana

04:45racini maybe who had said that he was carrying his ipad around with him everywhere and like even in the

04:53cafeteria when he was eating he was on his ipad you know studying and that people were talking about

05:01like he was you know cramming for a big test or an exam and i asked him about that and he said i don't

05:08have a choice you know this is this is my chance this is my shot so i think he was very well aware

05:15of the opportunity and and making the most of it i thought the most interesting thing that he said

05:22was it felt so nice to get back to normal to feeling normal and i said what do you mean by that he's

05:31like well where all the pressure's on me or everybody's looking to me to handle he's like i like that

05:37so imagine this he had never before in his life been a backup quarterback and he had never before

05:45in his life had a coach other than his dad so his dad coached him all the way up through from like

05:55six years old his dad just kind of kept moving up with him and so it's been really um unique for him

06:03i mean he started in ninth grade in high school football quarterback started as a freshman in

06:07college so um he he liked what he's termed getting back to normal which i thought was cool

06:13russ um here in houston i i can't figure out whether this is real or not uh whether there's actual

06:21people that think davis mills should be the quarterback over cj stroud uh but there's there's

06:27certainly some people that are being very vocal about it if you've seen anything from davis mills in

06:31the last few weeks that makes you feel like okay yeah you know what they should just keep rolling

06:36with davis instead of cj stroud when he comes back from the concussion protocol well two thoughts on

06:42that one is um coaches are usually pretty hesitant to mess with a good thing and so now you have davis

06:53mills three and oh and the texans have won you know three in a row with him so coaches typically don't

07:00want to mess with what's working i've noticed i've actually benefited from that three times i think

07:06you know i came in for a guy that was hurt um and then we were winning so they just left me in even

07:13when that guy was healthy so i understand that mindset of coaches very much the the flip side of that is

07:23you're never going to get the ceiling with davis mills that you have with stroud you know i can't

07:30remember the two games it was the ravens game earlier and then what was the game more recently

07:35where cj lit it up san francisco yeah yeah so i just don't think you're ever going to see that from

07:40davis mills what it's done though is on some weird level it's kind of put more pressure on cj

07:47you know and the organization because he hasn't gotten that big contract yet you know he hasn't

07:55been eligible for it until after this year and so if things go poorly when cj's back out there and

08:04they're not playing as well offensively you kind of can't be like oh it's kaylee the oc or it's the

08:11offensive line like that that excuse doesn't that excuse rings hollow now if cj comes back and

08:19doesn't play well which on some levels unfortunate because when you miss as much time as he's just

08:26missed you know it would be a little bit strange if there wasn't you know some rust when he comes back

08:35so no i don't think davis mills should start over cj strap i do think it puts the onus on stroud to

08:43perform well i mean davis mills did what he's expected to do i mean there's a reason why they

08:50keep giving him these extensions and paying him he is probably a low-end starter high-end backup in the

08:58nfl he's exactly what you hope to have as your number two and it's why casario has done a good

09:06job i think what hasn't he extended him like multiple times he's extended him twice to make

09:12sure he has them because he just gave him another one so he's under contract through next 26 right

09:18correct yep super smart to i a make sure you have him and then b you know he could be trade bait i mean

09:28you know everybody keeps talking about mac jones mac jones maybe some team wants davis you know i

09:34don't maybe kevin o'connell thinks davis mills should be the guy to compete with jj mccarthy in vikings

09:41training camp next year and maybe they trade for davis mills you know you never know ross um i'm

09:47going to play a little clip from the ross tucker football podcast which you know i listen to every

09:51week this is your this is 10 seconds of your recap of the texans game and i i need you to tell me

09:56what the hell was going on in the background after this ultimately the texans get it done again

10:01primarily because of their defense so impressed their ed rushers will anderson daniel hunter again

10:09but kaylin bullock ended up having two interceptions and forced to fumble which was gigantic and it

10:17wasn't like that anywhere else in your podcast what what do you how little do you think of the texans

10:21that you you you did that in the back of an uber during a rainstorm

10:25that is incredible okay so the texans and the bills played thursday night as you guys know

10:40my wife had a uh board meeting dinner that she really wanted me to attend thursday night

10:48so i went to it ironically it was in lancaster pennsylvania and my former teammate drew bledsoe

10:55was there showing off all of his delicious wine so that was very cool so i had recorded the rest

11:04of the show which was the greg cosell interview any news and events i had recorded all that stuff

11:12before um you know before the dinner and then i knew that i needed to um provide about a minute

11:21on the texans bills game well my wife wanted me to go to the dinner but i had to get on the first

11:29flight to las vegas so i didn't miss the practice for the raiders friday morning so that was me i got

11:40picked up at the lancaster marriott in a car service at 2 30 a.m so that was me sometime probably

11:50between 3 and 4 a.m eastern time after i watched the rest of the bills texans game giving my thoughts

12:02and then jack inserting that into the rest of the show thank you seth yeah so the rest of the show had

12:09a normal cadence to it and then yeah i thought it was you know as it goes with me usually it's my

12:13fault with anything technical but uh that's impressive thank you for caring on my phone

12:33youtube comments because somebody probably like the whole rest of the show i'm in my beautiful like

12:46back of a cadillac or something yeah man it's like it's like we're out partying with you and you're

12:50whispering in our ear about kalen bullock it's very very strange hey ross we know you got to get out of

12:57here 30 seconds your thoughts on the colts texans matchup this weekend which is a huge one huge for

13:03both teams but especially the texans to get within one game of the division leader um it is massive

13:10and i think also a massive opportunity for the houston texans because the colts are not playing as well

13:19as they did earlier in the year earlier in the year i thought they were the best team in football

13:22i thought they were a machine over the last month or so i'd say they've kind of hit a funk and in

13:29particular their offensive tackles have struggled in pass protection and as you guys know fully well

13:36the texans are the wrong team to play against if your tackles are struggling in pass pro they're

13:44gonna have to help those guys so lots of chips lots of keeping tight ends in they gotta get up to

13:49daniel jones the texans formula for success is forcing a couple turnovers yeah yeah and daniel

13:56jones has been coughing it up a little bit more lately so definite possibility there he is our
