00:00Datuk Seri Najib Razak has succeeded in obtaining leave from the Court of Appeal in a split
00:07two-to-one decision in his appeal relating to his claims of a Royal Addendum Order that
00:13would allow him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
00:18In the majority decision, the Appellate Court overturned the High Court's dismissal of
00:22Najib's application for leave to initiate judicial review over the prison time imposed
00:27on him in the SRC International Sendirian Berhad trial.
00:32Justice Mohamed Firuz Jafril, who read the majority decision, said that the issue of
00:38hearsay could no longer stand with the new evidence adduced in a supporting affidavit
00:44filed by Najib's son, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nizar.
00:48Earlier, Najib's family said they are grateful to the Sultan of Pahang for issuing a letter
00:53of confirmation regarding the existence of the Royal Addendum to allow the former UMNO
00:59President to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home.

01:27The letter, which was signed by Comptroller of the Pahang Sultan's household, Datuk Ahmad
01:33Kherizal Abdul Rahman, confirmed the existence of a Royal Addendum to Najib Royal Pardon.
01:39The letter said the order was made by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong,
01:44Al-Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin al-Mustafa bin Lahsyah,
01:48for Najib to serve out the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.
