00:00With greater power or rank comes more responsibility.
00:03The short and sweet of the Commander-in-Chief's message in his pep talk
00:07to his newly minted batch of Brigadier and Major Generals and Flag Officers
00:12whom he swore in earlier today, which our Kenneth Paciente covers in this report.
00:19To serve with integrity and courage, this is the clear call of President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr.
00:25to the newly promoted General and Flag Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
00:29The President stressed the importance of their oath as a manifestation of loyalty to the Constitution,
00:34service to the Filipino people, and love of country.
00:37As the President congratulated the General and Flag Officers,
00:41as well as the two new graduates from foreign pre-commissioned training institutions,
00:45he reminded them that a higher rank comes with greater responsibility.
00:49Your promotion reflects a nation's confidence in your integrity and professionalism,
00:54your dedication to duty.
00:57The stars you bear shine more brightly today,
01:00as constant reminders of your obligations to protect our sovereignty,
01:05to uphold our national security and safeguard the freedoms of every Filipino.
01:10This responsibility is shared by our reservists,
01:14whose roles as a force multiplier continues to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
01:20This ceremony serves as a powerful affirmation that our loyalty is anchored to the Constitution,
01:28to our democratic institutions, and above all, to the people.
01:33The President also highlighted the steps being taken to further strengthen the institution
01:37through cooperation with other countries.
01:39We have engaged international partners in the conduct of training programs,
01:44strengthening cooperation, resource management, and inter-agency coordination.
01:50Through joint exercises and defense partnerships,
01:53we have also sharpened our readiness to address existing and emergent security challenges.
02:01The President once again emphasized the administration's measures for the modernization of the AFP,
02:06as well as the increase in incentives received by personnel.
02:09In fact, we have taken steps to better support the women and men in uniform.
02:14We have approved the increase of the base pay of military and uniform personnel.
02:19We also increased this year the daily subsistence allowance of all military and uniform personnel to 350 pesos.
02:27All these reflect our principle that honoring service means ensuring
02:32that those who serve are given the support and dignity that they rightfully deserve.
02:38He also recognized the families of the officers for their sacrifices and steadfast support.
02:43Kenneth Paciente from the National TV for a new and better Philippines.
