00:00Welcome to Shusha, Azerbaijan's cradle of culture, known for its creativity, its artists and the
00:14landscapes that inspired them. So Samaya, you're going to highlight some of the cultural things
00:26we can see and do here and what better place to start than Shusha Fortress. Welcome to
00:31Faytale city Shusha, Natali. Shusha was very famous for the silk, for the carpets, for the
00:37horses and lots of traders used to come to Shusha and these gates were opened early in
00:44the morning and were closed at night. Samaya took us on a short ride away to Jeddah Plain
00:51which overlooks the Desholti Gorge. I see the number of the tourists visiting Shusha is
00:58climbing because they come to see, for example, Jeddah Plain. Look at this beauty. You can
01:03find, yeah, this is really incredible. This is a magnificent place and this is a history.
01:10At the same time, there's a fairy tale. Just round the corner lies the Vagif Masoleum. It
01:15stands as a place for quiet reflection, honouring one of the poets that shaped the city and was
01:20built using Shusha stones. Vagif, Vagif was a very interesting and very creative person.
01:27He was advisor of the second king of Karabakh, Shusha. But first of all, he was a very talented
01:34poem and this place is very unique because every year Vagif Poetry Nights are being celebrated
01:41here. All poets from different regions of Azerbaijan come together in this place.
01:51I've come a few kilometres out of the city to be closer to nature again. For thousands
01:57of years, water has been flowing through these rocks at Cheta Waterfall. It's sometimes referred
02:03to as an umbrella. We've walked over two kilometres to get here and my word, it's enchanting.
02:10Shusha has given the world remarkable talents and one of the most celebrated is composer Yuseir
02:16Hajubeili. The museum preserves the atmosphere of his home, offering an intimate look into the
02:21life of an artist whose work continues to influence generations.
02:27Yuseir Hacıbəyev music, Yuseir Hacıbəyev yaracılığı, dünya musiqisinə, dünya bəstəkərlərinə elə gəzəl töhbələr bəxş etmişdi ki,
02:361907-ci ildə Yuseir Hacıbəyev Azərbaycanda ilk opera yazmış və bu bütün dünyaya səs salmışdır.
02:43Ən əsasda onun bir neşə dilə tərcümə edilmiş Azərbaycan xalq musiqisinin əsasları kitabı hamı tərəfindən
02:51sevilir, oxunulur və yazı masasının üstündə olur ki, hər zaman ondan istifadə etsinlər.
02:57Music continues to play a key role in Shusha today. Mugam is one of the region's most iconic art forms.
03:07It's an enduring tribute to the city's musical tradition.
03:14Shusha's carpets are a work of art filled with symbolic patterns unique to this region.
03:20We're exploring designs that represent centuries of creativity.
03:24Qarabağ xalçaları öz rəngçələrləri ilə, öz ilmələrinin çıxılığı ilə və üzərindək olan naxışlarla,
03:31digər bölgələrdək olan xalçalarla fərqlənir. Misal üçün, bu xalçanı götürsək,
03:35bunun üzərində biz Xaribülbül gülləri motivlərini görə bilərək ki, Xaribülbül əsas Şushanın əsas simvollarından bilidir
03:42və bu ancaq Qarabağda toxunan xalçalarda istifadə olunurdu, Xaribülbül gülləri simvolu.
03:47Seeing these carpets up close really show the artistry of Shusha.
03:51The colours, the techniques and the storytelling are woven into every thread.
03:57We're continuing our journey at the Govar Aga Mosque, completed in 1752.
04:02It reflects classic Karabak architecture and craftsmanship.
04:05This mosque has been carefully restored in the spirit of preserving the past and building the future.
04:13Shusha's cuisine is shaped by the region's landscapes,
04:16its seasons and its long-standing traditions.
04:19Today, I'll experience flavors that are simple, warm and connected to local culture.
04:24Our time in Shusha has revealed a city full of artistry, talent and beauty.
04:30From the past day to the present, this city is alive with pride, passion and creative energy.
04:36It's been inspiring to witness.
