00:01The story of the National Museum is really a story of our history.

00:05And it's a voyage that you take from 300,000 years to today.

00:10And you take it through the eyes of our founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed.

00:15He was, in principle, it was very important for him to understand that history.

00:21It progressed his thinking on how to create the formation of this country.

00:26So you will be taking that voyage really through him.

00:29I'm very, very excited to share that with the rest of the world.

00:37Inspired by the form of a falcon-winged dove,

00:40the Zayed National Museum Abu Dhabi has opened paying tribute to the UAE founding father,

00:46the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nayan.

00:49Designed by British architect Norman Foster,

00:52it's a vision on the Sadiat Cultural District skyline

00:55and tells the story of the land and its people.

00:58A story that begins from outside the museum.

01:01Al-Masar Gardens is a 600-metre long outdoor gallery and features a timeline of Sheikh Zayed's life,

01:09as well as key milestones in UAE history.

01:13Every museum in the Sadiat Cultural District and even beyond is a continuation of the other.

01:19If you read books, it's moving from chapter to chapter to chapter.

01:22The chapter about the history of this land that we're standing on.

01:25The Sheikh Zayed National Museum that talks about thousands of years of culture and heritage

01:30and societies that have functioned in these lands and created things for our future.

01:35Things that are so important to us, that ground us to our past.

01:39Inside you find a cultural celebration showcasing the rich history and heritage of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE.

01:48Over 1500 artefacts, over six galleries are on display.

01:52From architectural finds to art installations and reconstructions of heritage items.

01:57Each part of the museum brings the journey of the UAE to life.

02:02Another highlight in the museum and possibly one of the smallest but most important is this tiny pearl, the Abu Dhabi pearl.

02:10In the Sheikh Zayed National Museum, the archaeological finds that we have found over the many years,

02:16not just here in Abu Dhabi but in all the other Emirates,

02:19emphasizes the strong history of this land and how the people of this land for millennia have been creators, innovators.

02:25It's really a mirror of who we are today in society.

02:28That understanding is very, very impressive.

02:30And the pieces are so intricate and so beautiful.

02:33I'm just excited to share them with everybody.

02:35Abu Dhabi aims to welcome 9.3 million visitors a year by 2030 to its cultural district that also houses the Louvre Abu Dhabi

02:44and the forthcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

02:46This latest opening will embody the values of Sheikh Zayed and the history from ancient times to modern day

02:52that helped build the United Arab Emirates that exists today.
