00:00In November, we are celebrating the 15th year anniversary since the art of carpet weaving of Azerbaijan became part of the UNESCO list.
00:12And this is also the big achievement for promoting our cultural heritage.
00:30Almost every village, every house had its own room and Azekhalcha has at this moment 14 studios in different parts of Azerbaijan with more than 600 weavers.
00:41Art of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan is part of the women's story.
00:45Azekhalcha is only organization where more than 85% of our employees are rural women.
00:52This art of carpet weaving lives in Azerbaijan for centuries. Most of them continue family traditions.
01:00I have been involved in six years. I love this job. I came to my aunt and my aunt was in the house.
01:09I got my heart and I got my heart and I got my heart. I got my heart and I got my heart.
01:17I love my heart. I got my heart and my heart and I got my heart.
01:21It's a very good thing.
01:24We need to say it's in our identity and that's why our ladies learn it so quickly.
01:32Most of the carpets, especially the bigger ones, even the smaller ones, they sit on the
01:37loom for months because it's hand knotted.
01:40We have a bigger carpet which are like 15 square meters, 20 square meters and you can
01:44imagine how much dust it has and it has been definitely cleaned and washed.
01:50We're preparing, washing it many times.
01:55For us it's also important if every tourist takes at least little part of our culture with
02:02them.
02:03This kind of purchase, it supports at least one rural woman, one of our weaver in one
02:09of the regions of Azerbaijan.
02:11In past years we had big exhibitions of our carpets in Madrid, in Berlin, in Den Haag, now
02:19it's in Tirana, previously it was in Chisinau, it was in Riga.
02:24We have thousands of visitors.
02:26The local artists of that country, they visit our exhibition, they meet us and then they
02:33approach to us how it can work, etc.
02:35Based on this kind of promotions we meet our future, let's say, partners for collaborations.
02:40It's our folk art, it's our history and our goal to make it not just stays as a history but
02:48it becomes part of our today's life and the future life.
