Transcript
00:00You're presenting tonight. What award are you presenting?
00:03I am presenting Best Action Hero.
00:05Amazing. And This Is Us is nominated for several awards.
00:08What would it mean to win a People's Choice Award?
00:10Oh my gosh, it just means so much because we so appreciate our fans
00:13and everyone's always so great about supporting us.
00:16So, People's Choice Awards, we've won one before and we are very excited.
00:20So, we'll see what happens this year.
00:22Now, your character right now on This Is Us, Beth,
00:24she's going through kind of a transitional period.
00:26She lost her job. How hard do you think it was for her to admit to Randall
00:29that she's not okay right now?
00:31Not easy. She's used to being the one who is kind of strong for the family.
00:36And let's face it, in the past few years, he's the one going through all this stuff
00:40and having all the drama.
00:42So, now it's time for her to, in the midst of everything that's happening with him,
00:46speak up for herself.
00:48Which I think reminds a lot of women that self-care is very important
00:52and that we can't just keep giving and giving and not taking care of ourselves.
00:56So, I think it's a chord that is struck in a lot of women that they identify with.
01:00Definitely. We saw that this last episode, too, with Deja and with the girls,
01:03when Beth kind of blew up with the girls.
01:05What was shooting that scene like?
01:06And then shooting the scene where, you know, you guys had that conversation
01:09and it all came together.
01:10I mean, for me as an actress, I hated having to tell them to shut up, shut up, shut up.
01:14But I had to think about all the mothers out there that juggle so much, you know.
01:20And I think about my mother and days where she had off days.
01:24And we just thought maybe, you know, we maybe misunderstood her
01:28because we just think that they're supposed to just be there for us, you know.
01:31So, it just reminded me that we're human, you know.
01:34We're not just one thing. We're not just a mom. We're not just a wife.
01:37But we're also, you know, our own individual selves.
01:41And we have to be mindful of that.
01:43Definitely. And with all the wildfires going on in California right now,
01:47has anyone close to you been affected?
01:49You know what? I feel like everyone's close to me in some way.
01:52I'm like, it's the humanity of it all. Do you know what I mean?
01:54To know that people are in pain and that people are dealing with such tremendous loss.
01:59It really breaks me in a way that it's hard to explain.
02:04So, you know, my prayers really are active prayers and hoping that things happen.
02:10And that if there's any way I can contribute to that, it's what I'm looking for.
02:14But also that people just remain safe, you know.
02:17And that the fires come to an end very soon, yeah.
02:20Thank you so much for talking to us.
