00:00Denny Abia is off to a great start with the Portland Trailblazers.
00:05Remember, he was just traded, I think, a year or two years ago
00:08from the Washington Wizards to Portland,
00:13and he is having a fantastic year through 25 games,
00:17giving you 25.4 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, 6.2 assists.
00:25And Denny is someone that's kind of a swish army knife,
00:29and it's amazing to see his development.
00:33Now, Portland, a team that was very high on,
00:37has kind of struggled a little bit as of late,
00:39but Denny is not a reason why they are struggling,
00:43and he looks himself to be a cornerstone piece for the future of that team
00:49to go along with Donovan Klingon and to go along with Shaden Sharp.
00:53You can think about what you want to do with Jeremy Grant.
00:57Scoot Henderson hasn't really done what we thought he was going to do,
01:00at least as of yet.
01:02Yang Henson hasn't gotten a minute.
01:04When he gets in the game, he gets into a ton of foul trouble.
01:07Of course, Chauncey Billups is nowhere to be seen.
01:09It may not be seen ever again.
01:11So Denny's got to be the stabilizing force for this team
01:15in the Pacific Northwest, and he's done his job.
01:19The question is, is can he get some of these other guys
01:21to surround their games and elevate their games
01:25as Denny has been having a really good start to the season,
01:30a season in which you need to be talking about Denny
01:32as a possible all-star.
01:35I'd stay to the Western Conference, but head southeast,
01:39and talk about Trey Murphy III.
01:41I can't tell you how much of a fan I've been of this kid
01:47since he came out in the league in his fourth year.
01:52Trey Murphy III's getting you 21.2 points per game,
01:556.4 rebounds per game, 3.6 assists,
01:58shooting 36.1% from three and roughly 49% from the floor.
02:03When you look up the prototype of a 3 and D guy,
02:09this is the guy you're looking at.
02:13And Trey is someone that has had to fight injuries
02:18and now on a team that, let's be honest,
02:21is totally, completely irrelevant.
02:25When you're Joe Dumars,
02:27you have to start thinking about blowing this up
02:31and starting over.
02:33And obviously we've talked about on this podcast
02:35trading Zion Williamson.
02:38But we don't know what Zion's going to fetch you in return
02:41for a guy that's out of shape
02:43and honestly we don't know how much he even loves a sport.
02:48But Trey Murphy III is different.
02:51He's young, doesn't have a big contract,
02:54can defend multiple positions,
02:58he can shoot the ball really well,
03:00becoming much better off the bounce.
03:03So Trey becomes an interesting candidate
03:06that could be moved at the trade deadline.
03:10Remember, now you're at December 15th, folks, today.
03:13So now you could start to see players move.
03:16I'm not saying Trey Murphy will be moved,
03:20but if he is,
03:21there's going to be a lot of teams in demand
03:24for this 3 and D guy.
03:26I'll see you later.
