Se trata de un relato del Comandante de la Marina de los EEUU, James Stockdal, que estuvo 8 años cautivo en una prisión en Vietnam del Norte. Durante su reclusión en campos infames como 'Hanoi Hilton', Stockdale entre otros oficiales de alto rango, dirigió un grupo de resistencia contra los vietnamitas del norte frente a la tortura, el aislamiento y el hambre en un intento de quebrar su voluntad. De vuelta a EEUU, la esposa de Stockdale (Sybil) comienza a trabajar con otras mujeres de prisioneros de guerra para tratar de obtener información sobre sus maridos y para informar al mundo sobre el tratamiento de sus secuelas.
This is the story of U.S. Navy Commander James Stockdale, who spent eight years as a prisoner in North Vietnam. During his confinement in infamous camps like the Hanoi Hilton, Stockdale, along with other high-ranking officers, led a resistance group against the North Vietnamese, enduring torture, isolation, and starvation in an attempt to break his will. Back in the U.S., Stockdale's wife, Sybil, begins working with other wives of POWs to try to gather information about their husbands and to inform the world about the treatment of their trauma.
