00:00Hey everyone, and welcome back to our channel.
00:03Today, we have a super exciting and epic story to share with you.
00:08One of my absolute favorites.
00:10It's all about a young boy who faced a huge, and I mean huge, giant.
00:15This is the story of David and Goliath.
00:18A tale that shows us how having a little faith and a lot of courage can help you overcome even the biggest challenges in life.
00:25So, grab your imaginary slingshots, and let's dive into this amazing adventure.
00:31Picture this, two big armies are facing each other, ready for a massive battle.
00:35On one side, you have the army of Israel.
00:38On the other, the army of the Philistines.
00:41But the Philistines had a secret weapon, a giant of a man named Goliath.
00:46Now, Goliath wasn't just tall, he was enormous.
00:50Some stories say he was over nine feet tall.
00:52That's taller than the tallest basketball player ever.
00:55He came from a city called Gad, and he was the Philistines' greatest champion.
01:00Every single day, Goliath would stomp out in front of the Israelite army.
01:05He was covered from head to toe in heavy bronze armor that weighed more than a lot of you.
01:10He carried a spear so big and heavy that it looked like a weaver's beam and a massive shield.
01:16And every day, he would shout a challenge.
01:19He'd say, send out your best warrior to fight me.
01:22If he wins, we will be your servants.
01:25But if I win, you will be our servants.
01:27The Israelite soldiers were terrified.
01:29Nobody, not even the king, was brave enough to face this giant.
01:34For 40 days, Goliath's booming voice filled the valley.
01:37And for 40 days, everyone hid in fear.
01:40Now, let's meet our hero, David.
01:43David was just a young shepherd boy.
01:45He wasn't a soldier.
01:47He was the youngest of eight brothers.
01:49And his job was to take care of his father's sheep.
01:51While his older brothers were with the army, David was out in the fields, making sure his flock was safe.
01:58One day, his father asked him to take some food to his brothers on the battlefield.
02:03So, David packed up some bread and cheese and headed off to the army camp.
02:08When David got there, he heard it.
02:10That big, booming voice.
02:12He saw Goliath mocking the army and challenging everyone.
02:16But unlike the soldiers who were shaking in their boots, David felt something different.
02:21He was confused.
02:22Why was everyone so scared?
02:24He saw this giant not just as a threat to the army, but as someone who was disrespecting God.
02:30David's faith was strong, and he couldn't stand by and watch this happen.
02:34He started asking the soldiers,
02:36Who is this guy to defy the armies of the living God?
02:39David's big brothers were not happy to see him.
02:43They told him to go back to his sheep.
02:45But David wasn't just a shepherd boy.
02:47He was brave, and he had experience.
02:50You see, while he was watching his sheep, he had to protect them from dangerous animals.
02:55He told King Saul,
02:57Your servant had been keeping his father's sheep.
02:59When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth.
03:08He knew that the same God who helped him defeat a lion and a bear would help him defeat this giant.
03:13King Saul was impressed by David's courage.
03:16At first, he was skeptical.
03:18How could a young boy fight a seasoned warrior like Goliath?
03:21But David's confidence, which came from his deep faith, was convincing.
03:26So, King Saul said,
03:28Go, and the Lord be with you.
03:30The king tried to give David his own armor, his helmet, and his heavy coat a male.
03:35David put them on, but they were way too big and clunky.
03:39He could barely move.
03:41David said,
03:42I can't go in these.
03:43I'm not used to them.
03:44He took them off.
03:45Instead, David chose the tools he knew best.
03:49He walked over to a nearby stream and carefully picked out five smooth stones.
03:54He put them in his shepherd's bag.
03:56With his shepherd's staff in one hand and his trusty sling in the other, he walked out to face the giant.
04:02Goliath saw this young boy coming toward him with just a stick and a sling, and he was insulted.
04:08He roared,
04:08Am I a dog that you come at me with sticks?
04:11He cursed David and promised to defeat him easily.
04:14But David wasn't scared.
04:16His voice rang out with confidence.
04:18Not in himself, but in God.
04:21He shouted back,
04:22You come against me with a sword and spear and javelin.
04:26But I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
04:32This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands.
04:35David knew this battle wasn't about his own strength.
04:38It was about God's power.
04:40His faith completely erased his fear.
04:43Then, the moment of truth arrived.
04:45Goliath started moving towards David, and David didn't wait.
04:49He ran quickly to meet the giant.
04:51While running, he reached into his bag, took out one of those smooth stones, and placed it in his sling.
04:57He swung it around his head faster and faster, and then let it fly.
05:02The stone whisked through the air and hit Goliath right on the forehead.
05:06The giant stumbled and fell face down on the ground.
05:09The fight was over in an instant.
05:11When the Philistine army saw their champion fall, they panicked and ran away.
05:17The Israelite army, who had been frozen in fear just moments before, were suddenly filled with courage.
05:23They chased after the Philistines and won a great victory that day.
05:28David's incredible act of bravery completely turned the tide.
05:31He showed everyone that with faith, even the smallest person can defeat the biggest giant.
05:37David's victory was a huge moment for the entire nation of Israel.
05:42It boosted everyone's morale and brought them together.
05:45And it was just the beginning for David.
05:47This victory was the first step on his journey to becoming the greatest king Israel would ever know.
05:53Later, he brought Goliath's head to Jerusalem, which was a sign of what was to come,
05:58that he would one day rule from that very city.
06:00David's humble beginnings as a shepherd boy taught him how to be a great leader.
06:05One who relied on God and cared for his people, just like he cared for his sheep.
06:11So, what can we learn from this awesome story?
06:14We all have giants in our lives.
06:16They might not be nine-foot-tall warriors,
06:18but they can be big challenges that seem impossible to overcome.
06:22Maybe it's a tough subject at school,
06:25a fear you can't seem to shake,
06:27or a problem that just feels too big to handle.
06:29The story of David and Goliath teaches us to first acknowledge these giants.
06:34We have to see them for what they are before we can face them.
06:38Next, we can draw courage from our faith, just like David did.
06:42David's faith wasn't just a feeling.
06:44It was a belief that God was with him and would help him.
06:48Believing in something bigger than yourself can give you incredible strength.
06:52David also uses unique gifts.
06:54He didn't try to be a soldier in heavy armor because that wasn't him.
06:58He used a sling he had practiced with for years.
07:01What are your unique gifts?
07:03Maybe you're a great artist, a fast runner, a kind friend, or a brilliant problem solver.
07:09Use what makes you special to tackle your challenges.
07:12And finally, David's story teaches us to face our fears with confidence, knowing we are not alone.
07:18Courage isn't about not being afraid.
07:21It's about taking action, even when you are afraid.
07:23David ran towards his giant, and you can run towards yours too.
07:28With the right mindset, preparation, and a little bit of faith, you'll learn that even the biggest giants can fall.
07:35This amazing story has been told for thousands of years because it reminds us of a timeless truth.
07:41It's not about the size of the giant in front of you.
07:44It's about the size of the faith inside of you.
07:47It shows that God often uses the most humble and unlikely people to do the greatest things.
07:53So, the next time you face a giant, remember David.
07:56Remember his courage, his faith, and his five smooth stones.
