00:01The armies of Israel and the Philistines stood frozen in a valley of Elah, locked in a stalemate.

00:07For 40 days, the Philistine champion, a giant named Goliath, clad in heavy bronze armor,

00:13would emerge to mock the Israelites and defy their God.

00:17King Saul and all his soldiers were terrified.

00:20A young shepherd boy named David, who had been delivering food to his brothers, heard the giant's taunts.

00:25Fueled by a deep faith, he was outraged.

00:28Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God, he declared.

00:35Rejecting the king's heavy armor, David approached the battlefield armed only with his sling and five smooth stones from a stream.
