Hasan spoke to THR at The New Fame Creator A-List event about what's on his social media feed, where he finds inspiration in the current political climate and why he plans to keep his political commentary show on digital media instead of moving to a legacy media company.
Transcript
00:00What's on your social feed right now? What kind of content are you consuming?
00:04Oof. The collapse of America. That's the kind of content I'm consuming every day, non-stop.
00:11Being a political content creator, what's your reaction to this political moment that we're in,
00:16and how do you try to inspire your audience to step towards a brighter future?
00:21The most inspirational thing for me and the most hopeful thing for me is whenever I attend protests
00:28and rallies and things of that nature, seeing solidarity in action out in the real world
00:32is some of the few moments of hope that I see. Being surrounded by people that have the same values,
00:42recognize right from wrong, recognize that things are not all right at a time when it feels like a
00:46lot of people are just like kind of sleepwalking through this process has been very inspirational.
00:51What's the path you see for yourself? Do you think you'll always stay in the digital space and on
00:56social media, or would you ever transition into having a show on traditional media?
01:01No, I'll be on digital, because for me, I have unlimited editorial control, unlimited freedom,
01:08as long as I stay within the confines of the terms of service established. Whereas if I was a part of
01:14a legacy publisher, there are a lot of limitations to what I can say and what I can do. And right now,
01:21we're in an unprecedented moment where I, from my living room, from my studio, actually command the
01:28attention of a larger audience than many television networks do, especially in the 18 to 35 demographic.
01:33So I don't really see any reason to make that transition anymore. There is a move in the direction
01:39of digital as opposed to pivoting to legacy media. And it does feel to me like legacy media is falling
01:45behind significantly. And that's why there's more outreach to digital content creators nowadays. Like,
01:50you got Midas Touch's Adam Mockler, who's on CNN as a panelist, is a regular occurring guest at this
01:57point. You have Anna Kasperin from The Young Turks. You have Emma Vigeland from The Majority Report,
02:03also going on MSNBC and CNN. So like, they're coming to us more than ever to also participate in the,
02:09in that conversation.
