00:00Emma Thompson won't lend her voice to the animated feature luck now that Skydance has hired
00:05John Lasseter to head its animation unit. Lasseter has begun to put his stamp on Skydance
00:09animation amid signs he may face resistance as he attempts to turn David Ellison's animation
00:14unit into a major player. Several sources exclusively tell The Hollywood Reporter that
00:19Emma Thompson has quietly left the project because of concerns about working with Lasseter.
00:23Skydance and Thompson's reps had no comment. Former Pixar chief creative officer Lasseter
00:28was forced to walk away from Pixar and Disney animation in 2018, following reports of
00:33unwanted touching and hugging on his part, admitting to missteps that had left some employees
00:38feeling disrespected or uncomfortable. Since the film's release is scheduled for 2021, Lasseter
00:43has plenty of time to recast and is said to be reviewing the two projects that Skydance began
00:48before he arrived. In addition to luck, the studio has embarked on Split, a feature about a magical
00:53teenager. But whether those projects remain on track now that Lasseter is at the helm
00:57is an open question. For more on this story, go to THR.com. Until next time, for The Hollywood
01:02Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
