01:14get his just desserts there is six one contact contact
01:34a shadows approaching the sunny town centre one of West Mid's most wanted has
01:42been spied on North Hans patch wanted for suspected kidnap stalking and assault
01:51he's believed to be in a silver a-class Merc
01:53an unmarked armed response unit is tracking the Merc
02:12and its eyes down for a full house because the driver seems all
02:23up for a game of chase
02:26and the Merc's two up
02:29with the suspect believed to be the
02:32passenger
02:37it looks like this driver wants to join him on the wanted list
02:45another unit joins the pursuit
02:50and the growing convoy hurtles towards the M1
02:57and the growing convoy hurtles towards the M1
03:01and the way to stop him reaching the motorway and their books in with the traffic
03:13lady luck save some for the bad guys but they'll need more than luck to lose the four cops on their tail
03:28especially elite driver Paul Bertie Bertram in a Beamer M340i the plan is to perform a box as Bertie takes the lead
03:37he's on the Merc's bumper and just needs to get past
03:43Bertie's a wizard at the wheel a t-pack trained advanced driver with over 20 years worth of tricks up his sleeve including misdirection
03:52he sells a dummy then unleashes the three hundred and unleashes the three hundred and sixty eight of the Beamer's horses
04:10the Merc is now the filling between an interceptor sandwich
04:16but this driver seems a few sandwiches short of a picnic
04:22as he makes contact with the two-ton ARV
04:25and nearly loses it into the central reservation
04:32the pursuit is now only a few miles away from reaching the M1
04:38but will the interceptors be able to stop him before there's mayhem on the motorway
04:43the interceptors are after a runaway Mercedes in Northampton
05:05the passenger is wanted for suspected kidnap stalking and assault
05:15Bertie's pulled ahead of the Merc which is caught between two cop cars
05:21they need to stop it before it hits the M1
05:26but with no way past Bertie's marked car at the front they plan to turn the screw from behind
05:36then slow the whole thing down
05:39the runaway's not shy of a game of bumper cars
05:43but he's playing with the wrong drivers
05:49as Bertie continues the block the ARV goes for the bash
06:10the arm response coppers on scene have come prepared
06:14the passenger and driver
06:21feel the full force of the law
06:29the passenger is confirmed as their suspect
06:35and both blokes are going in bracelets
06:39with the Merc driver willing to smash into the cop cars
06:54the only way to bring this pursuit to an end was to slow him down with the block
07:00and finish with a perfectly executed tactical contact
07:07what's your name?
07:10sorry?
07:11right, you'll come to no harm if you're compliant
07:14do you understand me?
07:15okay, okay, okay, okay
07:16thank you
07:17just behave yourself from now
07:19despite risking their own lives the lives of the interceptors
07:24and innocent members of the public
07:26the driver thinks it's all a big joke
07:29especially bear in mind what you've just done
07:31do not laugh
07:33it's gonna kill people, you know that
07:36but the repercussions of his actions aren't so funny
07:40you'll go to prison for that
07:43the driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving
07:47and driving without a license or insurance
07:49he received a 15 month suspended sentence
07:52a 24 month driving ban
07:54and had to pay over a thousand pounds in costs
07:57no action was taken against the passenger
07:59for the alleged kidnapping
08:01however, for stalking and assault
08:03he received a 12 week suspended sentence
08:05and a five year restraining order
08:08give us two seconds
08:10it's been a good result for the interceptors
08:15but they're not only highly skilled in stopping cars
08:19it's okay here then
08:20just right there for a second
08:21okay
08:22they're also pretty handy at getting them moving again
08:25can you just bunch up a little bit
08:27you come forward
08:28then you
08:29come in here
08:30take a step back
08:40the interceptors pride themselves on their negotiation skills
08:44you can go on to the other side of the road
08:46I just want you to stay away from me
08:47but there are some confrontations that can't be resolved with talk alone
08:51Taser! Taser!
08:56and there's nothing like a carefully aimed red dot
08:59don't move
09:00stay there
09:01stay there
09:02to end a conversation
09:04the benefit of having Taser rather than spray or a baton
09:13is if you've got someone waving a knife or a sword around
09:15you don't want to be that close
09:16because
09:17in the nicest sense there's going to be bigger than yours
09:19with Taser you've got the distance
09:21so
09:22should you need to deal with someone who's uncompliant
09:25is likely to cause
09:27harm or injury to someone
09:30you've got a good 25 feet
09:32to deal with them
09:34you haven't got to put yourself in danger basically
09:36whereas the other bits of kit
09:37you're more likely to get injured
09:45early doors on Thursday morning
09:47also be advised yesterday
09:49the caller reports that he tried to attack staff with a pair of scissors
09:56multiple cars are responding to an assault in a supported housing unit
10:02Romeo Papa One One dropped me on that as well
10:04and Chris Guttridge
10:06isn't far behind
10:09staff at the unit are worried about the safety of the other residents
10:14making threats I believe to somebody
10:16and trying to break into a room and causing a bit of damage
10:20so Chris floors his beamer and zeroes in on the address
10:24I've just spoken to staff
10:26he's going to be coming in first
10:27three common assaults
10:32Officers already on scene report the suspect has locked himself in his room
10:35and may be armed
10:37has he got scissors?
10:38do you say got scissors?
10:42Public safety is the interceptor's top priority
10:44and uncertain whether he's got a weapon

14:23you're fine
14:24you gonna be alright the back of your head?
14:25it's fine are we
14:26you
14:27but while they're happy to take a few insults on the chin
14:29don't start that
14:30threats to police property aren't taken so lightly
14:33don't start being silly
14:34go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
14:38relax
14:39He's come to the door, he's hidden intoxicated through something,
14:41quite aggressive towards us.
14:44We've heard something metallic, sounds like a knife, a weapon.
14:46He's putting his hand in his pocket, he's advancing towards us.
14:48He's been challenged with a taser and he's not stopped, so he's been tasered.
14:52He's absolutely fine, safely resolved the incident without any harm to anybody
14:55and should be off to custody shortly.
14:59Mr Shortfuse pleaded guilty to three counts of common assault
15:02and using threatening behaviour.
15:04He received a 20-week suspended prison sentence, 100 hours of unpaid work
15:10and 25 rehab days.
15:29It's a late spring evening in Northampton
15:31and while most of the town are already home from work,
15:35Chris is back on patrol.
15:37This time with Callum Donoghue,
15:39they're responding to the first job of their night shift.
15:42We are going to a report of a vehicle driving erratically,
15:47a Mercedes A200 at the Holiday Inn
15:50on the Bedford Road in Northampton.
15:54The boys hammer it over to the three-star hotel.
15:57To check in on a five-star donut doing laps outside reception.
16:10Hotel guests film the wannabe boy racer complete lap after lap
16:13of his very own Holiday Inn Grand Prix.
16:18But this isn't Silverstone.
16:20The whirling donuts know Lewis Hamilton
16:22and the only points he'll win
16:24are the ones likely to go on his licence.
16:35With Chris and Callum still a few miles away...
16:38..donut's dizzy enough to need a quick pit stop...
16:43..where he comes face-to-face with another unit.
16:48He can drive in a straight line after all.
16:55The response cops not pursuit trains, so can't follow.
17:01Luckily, Callum's passed every test there is.
17:04There is.
17:05And absolutely can.
17:066-1, contact, contact, Bedford Road,
17:09general direction of town centre.
17:11The target flies past at F1 speeds.
17:13Vehicle is failing to stop.
17:17Can I film on channel, please?
17:19The Merc's in danger of disappearing.
17:22But Callum hits warp drive and reins him in.
17:28At lane two or two, traffic is medium, no pedestrians,
17:33DRA is low and its proportions continue.
17:36The runaway raises the stakes
17:38as he goes wrong side of the tracks.
17:40The offence is in question at this time.
17:43It's a domestic twock.
17:45Information comes in that the suspect's in his mum's car.
17:49Left-left, green ATS.
17:51But with driving this bad,
17:53he's going to face more than just being grounded.
17:56Victoria Prom, advanced TPAC driver,
17:59unmarked advanced vehicle.
18:01Delivery driver ahead, 10 o'clock.
18:06High risk temporarily, nearly a collision.
18:10Just Eat was nearly dead meat.
18:14The Merc missed him by inches.
18:18And while the boy racer blows a red
18:21with no thought for other drivers,
18:24Callum can't afford to be so reckless.
18:29We're held, ATS, wait.
18:32The runaway's disregard for the public
18:34gives him a big advantage.
18:36Temporary loss, keep going straight, keep going straight.
18:39And Chris and Callum have, once again,
18:41been held up by traffic.
18:43Straight on, red ATS.
18:45He's continued on past the wee binding car
18:47to the offside.
18:49We're held, red ATS, temporary loss.
18:53Again, such a high-risk driver,
18:55the odds were always against them
18:56on the busy roads.
18:58Have you called up total loss?
19:03Yeah.
19:03It's total loss at this time.
19:06Mate, we were never going to keep up with him
19:07out going through the traffic.
19:08He was driving like a nothing.
19:09But the interceptors know that slippery fish
19:12inevitably resurface.
19:15And with a net round the area,
19:18it's not long before they land Mum's 40 grand Merc
19:20and haul in the one that got away.
19:33Donuts down at the Nick,
19:34where Callum and Chris drop in for a few words.
19:37The driver received no further action
19:51for taking his mum's car.
19:52But for dangerous driving
19:53and other unrelated offences,
19:55he received a total of 19 months behind bars
19:58and a 38-month driving ban.
20:04It's been a frustrating,
20:05but ultimately successful enter their shift.
20:09I don't really know why he's driven the way he has.
20:13He's now going to lose his licence
20:15for essentially a two-minute pursuit,
20:18which was a really bad decision.
20:20But he's now going to have to deal
20:20with the consequences for the rest of his life.
20:23His insurance is never going to be cheap
20:24and he's probably going to get disqualified
20:26for a couple of years for it.
20:28But we all have the choice in life
20:30and he's picked the wrong one today, unfortunately.
20:35Still to come...
20:39OK, he is continuing weaving through the traffic
20:42at high speed.
20:43..a pursuit across multiple counties...
20:46OK, the vehicle's offered to the services...
20:49..comes to a smashing end for Dan and the team.
20:51This chap's under arrest for Section 4.
20:59He's off his face.
21:00And a drug-fuelled driver on the M1...
21:02What are they?
21:04Antibiotics...
21:04Antibiotics?
21:05Antibiotics?
21:06Antibiotics, what for?
21:08Yeah.
21:08Looks to be on more than just prescription medicine.
21:11He is probably one of the most intoxicated people I've seen.
21:28Temporarily high-risk through a red ATS.
21:31When a runaway makes a play too dangerous to follow...
21:35Oh, it's an abort from us.
21:37He's gone the wrong way.
21:38Bound Bedford bypass.
21:39The interceptors have an ace up their sleeve.
21:46Yeah, impasse 5-1.
21:47Bedford bypass northbound on the wrong way.
21:51Standby.
21:52And with the eye in the sky...
21:54Impasse 5-1, crash, crash at Newton Road.
21:58Guiding the game on the ground...
21:59Got two outs.
22:00Standby.
22:02Hey, no!
22:03I'm just flying now!
22:04The person on the ground nearest the road is you're going to be a driver.
22:08It's always a winning hand.
22:15Impasse is probably one of the most valuable tools that we can use,
22:19mainly because they can have a bird's-eye view of the whole situation, the whole pursuit.
22:26So, impasse just allows us that bit of time to back off, formulate a plan, keep eyes on them and keep commentary and tell us where they are, basically.
22:33It's the wee small hours on Monday morning.
22:42And impasse is tracking a Skoda Octavia on clone plates that's failed to stop for the West Midlands force.
22:50OK, vehicle is still late to M6.
22:57They don't know why the driver's made off, but he's clearly got something to hide.
23:04Light trapping ahead still as he approaches the Corley services.
23:08The choppers track the runaway Skoda into Warwickshire.
23:11OK, vehicle's straddling lanes two and three, still passing low, slow moving vehicle at speed.
23:16And it's heading for North Hans at a high rate of knots.
23:22OK, he is continuing, er, weaving through the traffic at a high speed, have I?
23:28Good cons between air support and the units below will be the key to stopping the target.
23:33Thanks. I've notified North Hans.
23:38They're asking if you can go into their in-top three channel, please.
23:42Next stop, please.
23:43Just up up ahead to try and get your stops.
23:47North Hamptonshire ground units, including Dan Bradley-Browphy, start to gather a greeting party.
23:54We're just going to head towards the M1 now, just see if we can get in a decent position to try and help out.
23:59OK, vehicle's moving to lane one, near side.
24:05The Skoda's weaving its way towards a warm welcome.
24:08He's undertaking lorries and the slow-moving vehicles.
24:12It is just about to approach junction 1M6, over.
24:16Because units from all over the county are plotting up, prying to intercept.
24:22We'll head up to the north of the town, just in case it should come off the 14 and come down towards North Hamptonshire.
24:28And he's off on the 508, off on the 508.
24:35However, the suspect's come off the motorway and taken a different route.
24:39Yeah, he's gone left into Mercedes Avenue, or he's just pulling up at the side at the moment, over.
24:45He's either trying to give the interceptors the runaround...
24:48And looks to be doing a reciprocal bank.
24:51...or is completely lost.
24:55He's just slowed down. Now he's doing a reciprocal 180 standby.
24:59But there's no escaping the eye in the sky.
25:02OK, he's back on the roundabout of the A14.
25:04Just half a mile away, Dan joins up with a firearms unit.
25:16Top Marston, come with you now.
25:21And the interceptors assemble.
25:23I think we've got mobiles now with this vehicle.
25:37The ground units finally have their prey in sight.
25:40OK, the vehicle's offered to the services, north side of the A14, just up towards the lorry park.
25:50He's going the wrong way down the road.
25:52They clearly haven't a Scooby where they're going, or that North Hamptonshire's finest are about to pounce.
25:58When the driver pulls onto the garage forecourt, the cops have a prime opportunity to bring this two-hour cross-country pursuit to a close.
26:24How are we, does it come?
26:26Yeah, I've got a call.
26:28It's a five-year-old boat.
26:37Down the car! Down the car!
26:39On the floor! On the floor!
26:40On the floor! On the floor!
26:43Down the floor! Now! Down! Down! Down!
26:45Down! Down!
26:49The driver...
26:52and passenger are finally in bracelets.
26:54Despite their best efforts to escape with a reverse ram.
27:06And having tracked these guys for over 75 miles...
27:10The eye in the sky bows out.
27:15End pass, thank you very much.
27:18Back on the ground, it becomes clear why they've been so shy of a meet-up with the cops.
27:26That's absolutely full of canopies.
27:28Yeah, yeah.
27:29So, in the back of the car looks like a load of gear that we suggest relates to cannabis grows, so we've got plants, lamps, all that sort of stuff.
27:39So, whether they've emptied it, stolen it, we'll find out.
27:43But I've never got too in there custody for it at the moment, so great work.
27:48These guys could have robbed a cannabis farm.
27:50Or it could be their own crop.
27:52Either way, they're in it up to their necks.
27:57Stand up, Bob.
27:58So, I don't want you standing up with your hands behind your back, mate, because you'll fall over.
28:02Your trousers are also around your knees, mate.
28:04Have a footy off the channel for five. I'll get some more of everything.
28:06He's a happy soul, but the contents of his footwells are far from funny.
28:12In the car.
28:13There's a big coffee knife on the footwell and a carry bag full of cannabis as well, so there'll be a few hundred quid's worth of cannabis there.
28:20These two herberts are clearly up to no good tonight.
28:23While Dan likes a trip to the zoo, his real preference is to see criminals behind bars.
28:30And one of the herberts has a confession.
28:33The weed's mine, yeah? I ain't fussed.
28:36I can't lie, if these I didn't get it, then I would have made it into any foes, yeah?
28:41Masterchefs cough to the weed and the exhaustive search continues.
28:46No, it's like a catalytic converter, is it?
28:54As for the herberts, their cross-country jaunt is over, thanks to North Hans and a little help from above.
29:01Good teamwork between us, so, and obviously Empaths kept observations out all the way through, so without them I think we potentially could have lost that, so yeah, fantastic.
29:14The case for possession of a knife in a public place and possession of cannabis was transferred to another force.
29:22Following an investigation, the suspects received no further action due to insufficient evidence.
29:29Do you take drugs at all? No.
29:36Once upon a time, it was tough to prove a driver was under the influence of drugs.
29:41Just get some saliva on the end of the tunnel for me.
29:44That all changed in 2015 with the introduction of a lick and nick game-changer.
29:51It's testing positive for cocaine.
29:53The roadside drug wipe.
29:55So, at this moment in time, you're under arrest, okay, I'm suspicious of drug drive.
29:58Before, it was simply down to doing a fit test, so field impairment test, and that's where you get people at the side of the road putting the finger on the nose and trying to balance.
30:12We were sort of limited with how easy it was to detect the drug, but with the drug wipe screening device, it would tell us at the side of the road pretty accurately if they're over the limit for cannabis and cocaine.
30:24Drug wipes have driven a steady rise in convictions of drivers influenced by coke or weed.
30:33Unfortunately, some drivers use other drugs, and catching them is a bigger challenge.
30:42It's the morning shift, and Interceptor Tom Williams is invisible on the M1.
30:47We're in the unmarked car today.
30:49Advantages of the unmarked car is obviously people don't know we're there.
30:52People don't know we're there, so it's kind of seeing people's true driving, and just gives us that element of surprise.
30:59Touch of wood so far, everyone's been fairly well behaved.
31:03It's a sunny day with clear roads.
31:06Roger.
31:08But things look less rosy a few junctions ahead.
31:11I'm called from the Harways Agency that they've got a car that's in the live lane with a driver unresponsive.
31:18We'll have to see what he's like when we get there.
31:21Here we go.
31:22Show me 10-6.
31:28We should put the matrix board on.
31:31The driver's out of the car, and all over the shop.
31:47Hello.
31:48Hello.
31:49How are you?
31:50Are you all right?
31:51What's going on?
31:52Err, I don't know.
31:53What are you here for?
31:55Err, I don't know.
32:00Okay.
32:01Come and have a seat in my car for two seconds.
32:02I'm just going to grab hold of your hand.
32:03Ah, no.
32:04No, no.
32:05He's not filming me.
32:06No, he's not filming you.
32:07He's filming me, all right?
32:08He's filming me.
32:09Yeah, he's filming me.
32:10It's a moment in time you're under arrest on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, all right?
32:13Pass me that hand.
32:15Pass me that hand.
32:18I'll be putting a close driver.
32:20Cheers, buddy.
32:22Let go of your vape.
32:24Let go of your vape.
32:29As I say, you're under arrest on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs at the moment in time.
32:32In case you don't have to say anything but it may harm your defence.
32:34Do you want to mention when questioned something which you're allowed in court, anything you do say may be in evidence, all right?
32:38Are those handcuffs all right for you?
32:40All right.
32:41I'm just going to sit you in the back of my car.
32:426-1, you got an ETA 4-1-1?
32:47Just come up to 15 now, mate.
32:50Lovely.
32:51Cheers, mate.
32:52This chap's under arrest for Section 4.
32:53He's off his face.
32:54Just might need a hand with transport, if that's all right.
32:58He might need a hand with transport to Tom's car.
33:02Cheers, mate.
33:04All right, you plunk yourself in there for two seconds, mate.
33:07All right.
33:08Is it your car, mate?
33:09Yeah.
33:10Watch your head.
33:11Just before you get in, let me just quickly give you a search.
33:13Just stand up a second.
33:14What have you got on you?
33:16What?
33:17What have you got on you?
33:18Just cigarettes?
33:19No.
33:20What are they?
33:21Antibiotics.
33:22Antibiotics.
33:23Antibiotics.
33:24What for?
33:25Yeah.
33:26What for?
33:27Huh?
33:28What for?
33:29It looks like he's on more than antibiotics.
33:31Do you want to take a seat in there for me?
33:34The question is, what?
33:36Pop that foot in there, mate.
33:37What's going on?
33:38What's going on?
33:39You're under arrest at this moment, Tom, on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs.
33:43All right?
33:44And the reason being, you're very unsteady on your feet, okay?
33:48Your speech is very slurred, and you've got white powder all up your nose.
33:51Okay.
33:52Okay?
33:53Could be a tough case to crack.
33:54Are you known to the police for anything, mate?
33:57Er...
33:58Say it again.
33:59Are you known to the police for anything?
34:01No.
34:02Have you got any medical problems, anything like that?
34:04No.
34:05No, you're all good, yeah?
34:06No.
34:07Come on.
34:08I think, erm...
34:09Did you say an ambulance was called?
34:10If so, you can cancel them.
34:11There's nothing on this bloke.
34:12I think he's just under the influence of drugs rather than anything medical.
34:14Copy.
34:15His behaviour isn't consistent with cocaine or cannabis use.
34:19He's more spaced out.
34:21Though Spaceman is occasionally coming back to Earth.
34:25Oh, no way.
34:26What?
34:27We're being filmed for this.
34:30Say again, bud.
34:31Yeah.
34:32Tom isn't bothering with the roadside drug wipe, as he suspects this guy is on something
34:38other than coke or weed.
34:40And he has the right to haul him into the nick for a blood test.
34:43Right, what the plan is going to be, just waiting for my colleagues to come down, okay?
34:47Then we're going to be taking you to custody, okay?
34:49Yeah, you understand that?
34:51It's pretty clear...
34:54So, my colleagues are going to be coming here very shortly and we're going to be taking
34:59you to custody.
35:00Police station?
35:01Okay.
35:02Okay?
35:03We need to do, erm, some procedures with you in terms of you potentially being under the
35:07influence of drink or drugs.
35:08All right, mate?
35:09I've got to go to prison, aren't I?
35:12No, not necessarily, mate.
35:13I don't think so.
35:17The driver has a date with custody, where a blood test should provide some answers.
35:22I think he's said to our Highways colleagues that he's taking ketamine.
35:28Which might not be necessary.
35:30It turns out spacemen's told Highways he's spaced out on ketamine, an anaesthetic that distorts
35:37perception of sight and sound.
35:39Basically, the M1's worst nightmare.
35:42I know Highways said that he was unfit, but he is probably one of the most intoxicated
35:48people I've seen.
35:49Um, clearly not fit to drive, erm, can't speak, can't walk, and has got the remnants
35:56of, obviously, a good night last night up his nose still.
35:59Erm, so thankfully he's only crashed into the barrier and not someone else, because I
36:04think he potentially could have caused, erm, some serious problems on the motorway.
36:08But thankfully we've got him now and, erm, we'll deal with him.
36:10And once Rachel searches the car, there's potentially more to deal with.
36:17So we've found what I believe is going to be the drugs.
36:21She's got a silly bag of white wrestling powder.
36:25Yeah, I've got his drugs.
36:26Beautiful.
36:27You're further underestimated on suspicion of possession of controlled substance.
36:31OK, mate, you're still under caution, alright, but...
36:34Under caution?
36:36He's lucky he's not under six feet of soil.
36:38He's lucky he hasn't killed himself.
36:40Mate, he's lucky he hasn't killed anyone else.
36:43Come to rest in lane one of the M1.
36:46At least we've got him.
36:47No-one's hurt.
36:48He's not hurt.
36:49He's taken to custody and look after him there.
36:51We're good to go, mate, alright?
36:52We're going.
36:54The spaceman who landed himself on the M1 pleaded guilty to drug driving
36:59and received an eight-week suspended sentence and a 29-month driving ban.
37:04He also received a community resolution for possession of a Class B drug.
37:08No surprises there, given he coughed up to taking ketamine.
37:12That is used normally as a horse tranquiliser,
37:15you know, to put animals under sedation.
37:18Erm, so the fact that he's been driving whilst basically sedated, beggars belief.
37:22If he hadn't crashed into the barrier and crashed into a family driving,
37:25erm, you know, we potentially could have been looking at fatalities on the motorway.
37:28You know, you're driving a two-ton killing machine,
37:31but you've got no awareness of, you know, what you're doing.
37:34Erm, it's just a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
37:37Still to come.
37:42All I wanted was the...
37:43What?
37:44It was all crisp.
37:45You don't need to swear.
37:46A motorist with the munchies in Wellingborough.
37:49That's it.
37:50You've tested positive for cannabis.
37:52So this might have a problem with a drink about two hours ago.
37:55Number plate cloning is a growing problem in the UK.
38:13The cops are keen to end that trend and, in Wellingborough,
38:16firearms units have just stopped a Vauxhall Astra
38:19they suspect to be on false plates.
38:22Sandra Payne and Joe Wood are heading over to assist.
38:26It's pulled over as if it was, erm, stopping, taking a natural stop.
38:32And then as they've put the lights on next to it,
38:34it's made off, albeit briefly.
38:37And the clone could just be to disguise documents offences
38:41or it could be more sinister, used in crime.
38:45Sinister or otherwise, Joe and Sandra are en route.
38:56The clone-mobile contain four wannabe TV stars.
39:05We're on interceptors, man.
39:07Yeah, let's do one.
39:08Oh, we're on interceptors, Wes.
39:10How are you doing, all right?
39:11Oh, we're on interceptors.
39:13Who you got?
39:15Hey, that is mad.
39:17What's your name, chap?
39:19Jamie.
39:20Jamie Norris.
39:21Joe deals with one of the passengers.
39:23This chap's been detained for a Section 1 search.
39:29While Sandra tackles the driver.
39:32Where are you from?
39:33I'm from London.
39:34You are from London.
39:35He's already been arrested for no licence or insurance,
39:39so it could be a long walk home.
39:41What are you doing in Wernambour at the minute, then?
39:43No comment.
39:44What's the purpose of your journey tonight?
39:45No comment.
39:46No comment?
39:47No comment.
39:48Tricky types, like the no-comment kid,
39:50don't face a pro like Sandra.
39:52Whose least favourite customers are drink and drug drivers.
39:55Because you briefly fell to stop,
39:57I'm going to ask you to provide me with a specimen of breath.
39:59Have you had an alcoholic drink in the last 20 minutes?
40:01No.
40:02Have you had any mouthwash, dental preparation,
40:04cigarette or wee cigarette in the last five?
40:06No, no.
40:07I did want one just now.
40:09Is that because of the stress?
40:11Yeah, you've got a stress in me out,
40:13because now I've got to find my way home on foot, you know?
40:15Keep going, keep going, keep going.
40:19I'm going to push it out of my mouth.
40:22That's zero.
40:23Zero.
40:24Told ya.
40:25There's no booze in his blood,
40:28but there's something dodgy in his boot.
40:30The cops suspect these are the Vauxhall's genuine plates.
40:34I didn't take my glasses off, I could shut them.
40:38He's remarkably chipper for a man facing multiple charges.
40:42You know, I've got excited because I've never been on TV before.
40:46Yeah, so bad.
40:47There you go.
40:48Am I free to go, yeah?
40:49Yeah, just stay away from these guys.
40:51The bitpark passengers exit stage left for the long trip home,
40:55but there's a soft bed at the nick for the star of the small screen.
40:59Do I have a cigarette?
41:01No, you're under arrest.
41:02It's not allowed.
41:04And it's not just fags on the superstar's rider.
41:07All I wanted was a bit.
41:09Some crisp.
41:10You don't need to swear.
41:11Yeah.
41:12I've been nothing.
41:13Denied treats, his mood seems to be changing.
41:15Push that.
41:16Yeah, no, but I've tried to be nice.
41:17I have tried to be nice.
41:18Have I not?
41:19I've not been disrespectful not once.
41:21It's not once.
41:22You're going to let me speak.
41:23No, I'm not even going to speak no more,
41:24because it's just...
41:25You know what?
41:26The respect is not being shown back.
41:27OK.
41:28Joe's returned with a packet.
41:30Unfortunately for the driver, it doesn't contain any crisps.
41:34Have you done a drug wipe before?
41:35What?
41:36Have you done a drug wipe before?
41:37I've never heard of that.
41:38No, you did a breath test for alcohol.
41:40So, because I've got reasonable grounds to suspect that you've committed a moving traffic offence
41:44under the terms of Section 6 of the Road Traffic Act 1988
41:47and requiring you to provide a sample of saliva for a roadside drug wipe.
41:51What if I don't?
41:52Failure to do so without a reasonable excuse is an offence and will render you liable to prosecution.
41:57Do you agree to provide a sample of saliva for a roadside drug wipe?
42:00Not yet. I want my saliva.
42:01And if not, what is your reason for refusing?
42:02I want a saliva.
42:03I want a saliva first, please.
42:04OK.
42:05Luckily, Joan knows a bit about the law.
42:08Requesting a saliva is not a reasonable excuse.
42:10Before I say anything more, I want a saliva, thank you.
42:13That's it.
42:14So, I'll ask you one more time.
42:15Are you willing at this moment?
42:16I'm willing. I'm willing, but not at this point.
42:18OK. So, because you're not...
42:19I'm not refusing.
42:20Because you're not willing to provide me with a sample here and there.
42:21You can hear me on camera.
42:22I am not refusing.
42:23OK.
42:24I am not refusing.
42:25And that'll be liable, all right?
42:26And to really prove he's not refusing...
42:29All right, go on, take the saliva. Go on.
42:31Sit down, buddy.
42:32Take the saliva.
42:33I don't want to sit down no more.
42:34I'm done with sitting down.
42:35Well, you do need to calm yourself down, though,
42:37because you're getting yourself a bit excitable for not much of a reason.
42:40Just stop talking to me and then I'll be fine.
42:43He seems to like opening his mouth, which is perfect for Joe.
42:48Stick your tongue out.
42:49Nice and far.
42:50Right out.
42:54That's it.
42:57You were all smiling a minute ago.
42:59What? After a cigarette.
43:00That's it.
43:01Took your saliva ting.
43:02Take me to the station.
43:03Let's go.
43:05The saliva ting takes eight minutes to come through.
43:08Plenty of time to get to know each other a little better.
43:12What's your name?
43:13Hello.
43:15What's your name?
43:16Me.
43:17Joe.
43:18Joe?
43:19Mm-hmm.
43:20Nice to meet you, Joe.
43:21You too.
43:22What's your name?
43:23Sandra.
43:24Sandra.
43:25Nice to meet you too, Sandra.
43:26And you.
43:27Nice to meet you too, camera lady.
43:28And now we're all best friends.
43:29Let's hope we never meet again.
43:31What is it?
43:32We can't swerve tough conversations.
43:34See it says CL there, control line.
43:35That means?
43:36That means that for cannabis and cocaine, the test is working, which is why there's a line
43:40at each.
43:41Yeah, so what is it?
43:42Unfortunately for you, also under TL, which is trace line, there's also a sign for cannabis,
43:47which means that you've tested positive for cannabis.
43:49So at this moment...
43:50I did have a pop of a drink two hours ago.
43:52I can't remember that.
43:53So at this moment in time then, 23-01, further under arrest on suspicion of driving worse
43:57over the prescribed, didn't it?
43:58No worries.
43:59I was nearly lucky though, wasn't it?
44:00Of a controlled drug, or specified drug.
44:02Just remind you that you are under caution, okay?
44:05Yeah, no worries.
44:06It's been a bad night for him, but he's trying to look at the positives.
44:10Oh, well.
44:12Night away from the kids, eh?
44:15Good night's sleep.
44:19Sleepyhead's nightmare turned into a reality when he was banned for 12 months for drug driving
44:24and without a licence or insurance and on fraudulent plates.
44:29He was up and down, wasn't he?
44:32He wasn't happy with me when the drug wipe came out.
44:34And then at the suggestion that he might not be coming into the cells if he passed it,
44:39he was all nice again.
44:40But it didn't work out for him in the end, so no, good result, getting him off the street.
44:48Thank you for choosing O'Reilly to own the pier.
44:50It's a family business.
44:51I'm Amanda.
44:52Your daughter.
44:53I thought you were dead.
44:54Mum collapses.
44:55Two people go missing.
44:56She's not who she says she is.
44:57After all I've done for you.
44:59This is how you repay me.
45:02Starring Kim Marsh, Jackie Woodburn and Danny Minogue.
45:05Five's gripping new drama, The Impostor, starts next.
