00:00The Philippine Ports Authority, or PPA, has activated its alert period starting today, December 15th,
00:07in anticipation of a significant increase in port passengers through January 5th.
00:12The PPA estimates that total passenger volume for the holiday season could reach 4.6 million,
00:19an increase from 4.4 million recorded during the same period last year.
00:24In response, the PPA has directed passenger terminals to ensure readiness, facility cleanliness, and adequate amenities.
00:33Terminal operators are also mandated to strictly prevent fixtures from operating near ticketing areas.
00:40Around 3,000 security personnel from the Port Police, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police Maritime Group are set to be deployed nationwide.
00:49Medical and ready-to-eat food assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development are also prepared should there be cases of stranded passengers.
