00:00I've always said that there is not one silver bullet to deal with the boat crossings.
00:04It's why just a few weeks ago I announced new policy and new measures on dealing with the
00:11incentives that draw people into those boats and then across the channel into this country.
00:16It's why I've said we're going to increase removals. We've already got the removals of
00:20people from this country up. It's just under 50,000 at the moment, which is a big increase
00:25on what we inherited from the previous government. And the work that we're doing with our partners
00:29in France and across Europe has actually prevented at least 20,000 illegal crossings. And even
00:35yesterday, some of those boats were stopped. I know lots made it across, but boats were also
00:41stopped on the beaches as well. So there isn't any one silver bullet here, and I've always been
00:46very clear about that. We are taking every measure at our disposal, including new powers
00:51and new policy to clamp down on this.
