00:00The Mets got on the board with a free agent hitter, Jorge Polanco, two years at $40 million.
00:08I think you have to look at this as, the word I used in a column I wrote on this,
00:12as a mosaic offseason for the Mets, where David Stearns is attempting to do several things by
00:20doing tiles. Think of Polanco as a tile. He's trying to not do long-term contracts. They paid
00:26a bit of a premium annually, $20 million a year on average, to get Polanco for just the two years
00:33for his age 32 and 33 season. They wanted to kind of like make their clubhouse a little better. Polanco
00:40is known as a quiet guy, but also a great teammate is his reputation and a guy who loves to play
00:46baseball. If you believe the injury to his knee was mended with surgery after the 2024 season, he
00:54he really held off having the surgery for a while. He followed it with his best offensive year.
01:00It's an offensive year that looks a lot like Brandon Nimmo's, not Pete Alonso's, but in like
01:06slash line, 26 homers compared to 25 for Nimmo, but he's a very good offensive player.
