00:00Supercross champion and the first game of the night for SX-1 drops now.
00:08On Joey Savace and Anderson.
00:10Anderson goes wide, Savace gets the double and Anderson will be on the side of the track.
00:16He rolls in but it's Savace who takes the lead.
00:19Christian Craig up the inside, what does Anderson do here?
00:22Oh, he has to be so careful in this position.
00:24Oh, aggressive, early.
00:27All right, that is what Jason Anderson is going to do there tonight.
00:30All right, look at the three.
00:31Luke Clout might play a role in this too.
00:33He was ripping today in qualifying.
00:35Riders down in the rhythm section but Anderson takes the lead
00:38as Craig tries to make the move on his teammate but comes up just short.
00:42And we have the big three in this championship conversation.
00:46One, two, and three in this race.
00:48Joey Savace is not being nice at all.
00:52Oh, Christian Craig.
00:53No.
00:53To the ground.
00:55He's going to have to make up a lot of ground in a short amount of time.
00:58It's an eight-lap sprint.
01:01Wow.
01:01I mean, that's tough for the guy who is one down.
01:04Look at Savace makes a mistake there.
01:05But think back to a week ago.
01:08These two came together.
01:10Savace got the bad end of it.
01:11He was on the ground.
01:12Anderson gets the win in the overall.
01:15These boys remember.
01:17And it might be time for Joey Savace to do something about what happened in Sweden.
01:21This might be a shot at it.
01:22Joey Savace played it very, very cool in Sweden.
01:27But it looks like he has his teeth out in these opening laps.
01:30Playtime is over.
01:31Let's not forget, Joey does not have a major 450 Supercross title.
01:36So this is his chance.
01:38Here's Christian Craig on the Dragon's back.
01:43It's the back tire.
01:44So now this would be the second issue.
01:47He went down in the corner before the straightaway back towards the finish line.
01:51So that would be a second issue on the lap.
01:53And when it goes to Anderson and Savace, you have to remember that this is a game of speed.
01:58And Joey has had it the last three weeks.
02:00He's been the faster of the two.
02:02So Anderson's had the better race, Kraft.
02:05We're about to find out if speed can overtake Kraft right here.
02:09Yeah, and I just think you said that perfectly.
02:11Joey has been so fast.
02:12He's been so technical.
02:14But Jason Anderson has been in this situation before.
02:17And he has thrived in this situation before.
02:20Unanswered questions.
02:22But, Joey, Jason has that confidence.
02:24And it's clear with Jason Anderson out front, if you're Joey Savace, this title will not be given to you.
02:30It will have to be taken.
02:31Nice line by Joey right there.
02:33He goes roll, triple, double.
02:35Some options on this track played out earlier in Super Bowl.
02:38Jason, we're seeing it again now.
02:39And these boys have not been within half a second of each other this entire race.
02:45We're four laps in, and they are still within half a second.
02:49Now, remember, every race in World Supercross counts towards the championship.
02:53But these sprint races give just a little less than half points.
02:57So it's ten for first, nine for second, eight for third, and so on.
03:01So if you are Jason Anderson, winning this race would give you one more point, Kristen.
03:09Both Dustin Pipe, team manager for PMG Suzuki, and also Yariv Khonski, team manager for Quad Long Honda.
03:16I asked them both what they were telling their riders today.
03:19Yariv told me.
03:19He told Joey Savace, go out there and do it.
03:22On the other hand, Dustin Pipes told Jason Anderson absolutely nothing.
03:27He said, Jason is a pedigreed champion.
03:29He knows exactly what to do.
03:31The best thing I can do is give him space.
03:32That's how I support Jason Anderson.
03:34Two completely different methodologies for those two riders.
03:37And, Jason, we had a chance to talk to Dustin Pipes earlier today.
03:40He's stressed.
03:41He said he's feeling it.
03:43But, on the other hand, his rider, the one on the bike, Jason Anderson, told you, I'm just here to win a race, championship, whatever.
03:50And you told me you really like that attitude out of Anderson.
03:52I mean, he's just the definition of love and collected.
03:56And I think that in championship nights like this, when there's so much external pressure and so much head noise, when you can genuinely be the guy that is that chill, it's got to just play into your favor so much.
04:09And he is riding great right now.
04:12He's started to extend his lead over Joey Savace just a bit.
04:16You see the championship points as they run.
04:18Anderson would be up one if it finished like this.
04:21But for Christian Craig, he is going to need to make a pass.
04:25He's going to have to make multiple passes just to get back to single digits.
04:29Anderson is now starting to throw whips.
04:31Maybe that's because he doesn't hear Savace is close.
04:34But he seems to be getting more comfortable while Joey's starting to make little mistakes.
04:37Yeah, and you can see that Joey is really on the edge of the racetrack.
04:42He's trying to open up these turns.
04:43I don't know if that means that he doesn't have the front end feel that he wants.
04:47So he's going to make these turns as possible.
04:49Jason Anderson looks comfortable.
04:51He looks loose.
04:52I wouldn't be surprised if that jersey was untucked.
04:55He's got a bit of the magic that's coming from that.
04:57He's out front right now as these laps click down.
05:01And Jason was not as fast as Joey today in the Super Bowl.
05:05But he was playing around, doing no-footers, doing big whips.
05:09He wasn't concerned with it because when the gate drops, that's when you get the point.
05:14And since this gate has dropped, he has been on the gas.
05:16Remember, though, he had an issue on that opening lap, doubled his way off the track,
05:21worked back into the line, and then was pretty aggressive with Joey Savace right there in the third corner.
05:27Oh, and this is going to be a massive loss for Joey.
05:30He makes the big mistake.
05:31And the lead is starting to slip away.
05:35Yeah, and they said at writers' meeting today, they praised the guys for how good that they'd been all season.
05:40But they said, let's decide this championship on the track and not with the FIM officials.
05:46Remember back, Christian Craig lost five points in the Gold Coast.
05:49I mean, if you're looking where he's at now with that mistake, I bet he wishes he could have those five points back.
05:54But he has made some passes in six places now.
05:57Up to six.
05:58You see Simonson in fifth with a great ride for Rick Ware Racing, Colt Nichols in fourth.
06:02That's Jason Anderson's teammate on PMG Suzuki.
06:06But for Jason Anderson, man, this is a guy who thrives on new.
06:11Think back to his 250 days.
06:13He rode for Rockstar Suzuki.
06:14They switched to KTM.
06:15All new wins a championship.
06:17Ryan Dungey goes on a three-peat in the Monster Energy Supercross Championship.
06:21The year he's gone, big change coming.
06:24It's Anderson who takes advantage and gets the win.
06:25Then he switches to Kawasaki years later.
06:28First year with a new team.
06:29Aluminum frame.
06:30All that change.
06:31And he thrives there as well.
06:33Now he's got, let's see, that's Cameron DeRoe, the wildcard rider from South Africa.
06:39Holds him up just a bit.
06:40But for Jason Anderson, Jason, he's with a new team and a new championship, new personnel.
06:45And he just thrives in these situations.
06:47It just seems like he's one of those guys that, like you said, he just thrives in the chaos.
06:52And sometimes the change is exciting and something to work through.
06:55He's so naturally talented.
06:58And when you're that talented, can you just get bored with how easy riding can become?
07:04And for Jason Anderson, this would be his third win of the season.
07:08It's Jason Anderson who takes sprint race number one.
07:10What a ride for El Hombre.
07:16Absolute perfection once he got through the first couple corners.
07:23And he was phenomenal in that one.
07:25And Christian Craig puts his head down, charges all the way to the finish.
07:30And he gets to fifth place.
07:32Now, remember, the main event, the final race of the night, that's where the big points are.
07:37If you're Christian Craig, keep yourself in this thing.
07:40But he may have his back against the wall here.
07:41He may have to win out the night and have a little help from Jason Anderson and Joey.
