Big Relief for Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu: Vijayawada ACB Court Dismisses Fibernet Corruption Case

In a major relief for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the Vijayawada ACB Court has dismissed the alleged Fibernet corruption case against him. India Today's Apoorva Jayachandran reports that the court granted a 'clean sheet' to the TDP chief, citing a lack of evidence to show his involvement. The case, filed during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, had named Naidu as a key accused. The dismissal follows the CID's submission that no financial loss occurred to the exchequer.

00:00And our big news coming in from Andhra Pradesh, relief for Andhra Chief Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu

00:12in an alleged fiber net corruption case.

00:16The Anti-Corruption Bureau Court or the ACB Court has issued orders to dismiss the case

00:21against the TDP chief.

00:23This case was filed against Naidu and others when Jagan Mohan Reddy government was in power.

00:30Joining us for more on this is India Today's Apoorva J. Chandran.

00:35Apoorva, do tell us how and what has happened between filing of the chart sheet to now and

00:44the investigations that has led to the dismissal of this case.

00:49Well, remember, this case had gained quite a traction in 2014.

00:55And in fact, Chief Minister Naidu was then a position leader there, TDP's leader.

01:00He had in fact been named as one of the key accused in the, you know, charged by the ACP

01:06in this case as well.

01:07But now there's a big relief as the Vijayvara ACP Court has granted a clean shit to Chandra

01:12Babu Naidu in this, you know, fiber net case as well.

01:16In fact, several top names of TDP leaders, including Mr. Naidu, had also come up in the

01:21fiber net case as well as several MDs and, you know, officials from several companies who

01:28had allegedly been behind this scam.

01:30But what the ACP has right now, you know, stated is that there hasn't been any proper

01:35cause that they were able to show involvement of Mr. Chandran Babu Naidu in this case as well.

01:41And that's why the ACP Court right now has granted a clean shit for Mr. Naidu.

01:46In fact, this case has roughly gone on for almost over a year now since it had begun its

01:51investigation.

01:52There were several names that were under the radar, including that of, you know, the current

01:57Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu Naidu, and several other senior leaders as

02:02well who had been named in this case.

02:04Several of them who had also been picked up for questioning in this very particular case

02:07as well.

02:08But now the ACP Court, looking into whatever has been given to them during the course of

02:13the investigation over the last one year, has now granted a clean shit to Andhra Pradesh

02:19Chief Minister, Nara Chandran Babu Naidu.
