00:07opposing players that are coming in that he's evaluating what it's what do you how he's been

00:12balancing his team usa responsibilities with his rangers responsibilities and there's so much out

00:17there about you know how there's ranger players who are playing in front of him and jt being one

00:22of them and whether or not he's going to be on team usa's roster i know that there was a report

00:27elliot friedman was talking about how he still thinks that jt is going to make team usa but his

00:34recent struggles he's obviously had some costly turnovers and things like that quote unquote you're

00:39almost asking yourself should he be on the team and he also apparently warned that a miller snub could

00:45create a riff with mike sullivan and i thought that that was a really interesting comment to make

00:52because and i don't not saying i disagree with with elliot friedman because elliot friedman is

00:56always on but and it is fair to speculate how mike sullivan's job as team usa head coach can kind of

01:06conflict with the way that he does things for the rangers but i mean with jt in particular we asked

01:13him about something as silly as the milan you know ice being smaller than than uh nhl standard

01:21and jt wouldn't even comment on it because he does not want there to be an expectation that

01:28he thinks that he's going to be on the roster and to me that's the type of decision that a player makes

01:35when they're really trying not to make it about him one way or another you know like i just feel like

01:42i think that sullivan and the players on the rangers who are trying to make team usa's roster

01:49are all very aware of of the balance that you have to have and and that it would be unfair to

01:57to act that way with something as unbelievable as the olympics like it's it's just you know i mean

02:03how do you see that situation you're not asking if he wants to be i mean he of course wants to be on

02:09the team i you know what it's it's a jt miller that has matured and grown up and that's the right

02:18answer for him at the time because look he's the captain of the new york rangers the new york

02:22rangers aren't where they expect to be themselves in the standings and you know if he's if he's a

02:32point of game and has you know 19 goals or whatever i don't know that if you ask him that

02:37question he answers it differently yeah i don't think so i think he even at that point will be like

02:43i'm trying to get this thing going that i'm in right now as the captain of this team

02:46and that i think you know people are commenting i went to the comments right away when elliot

02:54friedman you know tweeted that naturally i'm like i can't wait and look vancouver people are a

03:02different breed the fans of the vancouver canucks people that's what i'm saying not all of british

03:08not all of vancouver i'm saying we're not we're not taking shots and a certain subset right a

03:13certain subset of their fans are a certain way they're not all not even all the fans but

03:18like you make a comment about quinn hughes and they're trying to ride him like he's a terrible

03:26person now because he's answering questions and they think he's lying and it's just so people are

03:31going to come after jt and that's just noise from far away it doesn't matter he'll keep it like

03:38focused on trying to play really well for the new york rangers and that's what every kid should be

03:44doing that's trying to make their respective countries because that's how you're ultimately

03:48going to get judged by these coaching staffs and management i i like couldn't be more of a fan of jt

03:56miller and that that helps a lot too like i'm just i'm proud of the kid i love like what

04:02his mindset is now yeah and you know he needs to get it root for he's self-deprecating at times he

04:10doesn't take himself too seriously he takes his work very seriously as we yeah we've come to know um

04:16but yeah he i think he's on that team and i do too take as many centers as you can

04:23and uh but to wrap it all up mike salvin doesn't it's not an easy spot but we've i mean no we've

04:31thought about this since august i have anyway and me too yeah like there's so many of these names and

04:39the four nations guys and all so you have to and you know it's not easy and then everyone's talking

04:43about marty saint louise stevie eisenman yep it's not that it's not i don't yeah i really don't i don't

04:51either i also just be going back to how seriously jt is taking the rangers captaincy responsibility

04:57and just the way that he's approached it i mean when i honest like i was surprised by the answer

05:05about the milan ice but i also wasn't like when he said that i was like oh i was like you know what

05:11i would expect him to say something like that just just from the way that he has handled himself

05:16and carried himself since the start of the season but when he gave that answer i was actually like i

05:21respect that so much so much what a perfect answer because why would he assume that he's on on the

05:28roster and you know why why even you know give people talking points you know by commenting on a

05:36situation that is pretty you know far ahead and not in the here and now so i thought it was very

05:43interesting but that's definitely been a topic of conversation
