00:15This Yuletide season, different forms of scams are becoming rampant again, especially phishing or impersonation of legitimate companies, telcos and banks
00:26in sending texts or online messages containing links to gather data and information from victims.
00:33But according to the National Privacy Commission or NPC, sending messages with links is now prohibited.
00:40Bawal pong mag-send ng links. So lahat po ng links na matatanggap nyo sa inyong text messages online, e fraudulent po yun.
00:48Ibig sabihin may attempt na kayo ay i-fish o kumuha ng detalya sa inyo.
00:52Also, NPC is now monitoring vishing or voice phishing wherein scams are made through calls.
01:00Under vishing, scammers apply manipulative tactics such as using fake emergency situations to make the victims panic and urge them to disclose important information.
01:12Ang taktika po kasi talaga mag-create yan ng panic or dapat minamadali ka.
01:18Ibig sabihin, na-aksidente yung kapatid mo, na-aksidente yung nanay mo or yung account mo sa opisina na ha.
01:26Lahat po ito merong signs of trying to make you respond immediately to a situation na hindi naman dapat nangyayari.
01:35Aside from regular phone calls, vishing is also done through social and online messaging apps.

01:44NPC also confirms complaints they receive on vishing keep on increasing.
01:49A Who's Call Scam report meanwhile stated that recorded scam calls in the country ballooned to 78.44% to 62,390 calls as of third quarter of 2025.
