00:00There is something quite scary about not knowing where you're going.
00:07It's mad nerve-wracking where we're gonna sleep, what we're gonna eat, how we're gonna get there.
00:12Me and dad want a proper adventure.
00:14Even if we don't come first, which we will.
00:17If we won the race, I think a lot of people will be surprised.
00:21Nothing to lose.
00:2228 days ago, four teams embarked on a race from Mexico to Colombia.
00:31You have to have a strong stomach first.
00:34This is really stressful.
00:35Oh, it is hard.
00:37Surviving the tough realities of the competition.
00:40This is madness and adrenaline.
00:42He's sped up.
00:43It's unbelievable.
00:45That's a big fat bed bug.
00:47My head's fried, I don't know what the hell to think.
00:51Has strengthened them.
00:53I feel a sense of lightness about me now.
00:56And the relationships.
00:58I never really said thanks for that.
01:00Come on.
01:01Oh, it's feeling that's amazing.
01:03I've cancelled the funeral plans, by the way.
01:06Now, in the final stretch.
01:08Go, go, go.
01:09This is what Yorkshire's prepared us for.
01:11Which team will triumph.
01:12Famous, famous, famous.
01:13We've put ourselves through so much.
01:15We've gotta win this, man.
01:16In a race.
01:17I believe in you.
01:18Across the world.
01:19It all comes down to this.
01:20Wow.
01:21This city is massive.
01:22So much colour as well.
01:23In the verdant mountains of north-western Colombia, MedellÃn's skyline of high-rises.
01:27The city has reinvented itself as a modern hub of culture, innovation and bold urban design.
01:28Here, the final leg of the race begins.
01:30Here, the final leg of the race begins.
01:31We've been in such rural locations.
01:32This is the moment we're starting in a big city.
01:33We've been in such rural locations.
01:34This is the moment we're starting in a big city.
01:35It's a big city.
01:36It's a big city.
01:37It's a big city.
01:38It's a big city.
01:39It's a big city.
01:40And it's a bit overwhelming.
01:41It is a bit overwhelming.
01:42It is a little bit.
01:43It's a bit sensory overload.
01:44There's so much going on.
01:45There's pros and cons to being in a big city.
01:46Loads of transportation.
01:47Mm-hmm.
01:48Traffic.
01:50Traffic.
01:51Yeah.
01:53Fast forms of transportation.
01:54Money.
01:55Money.
01:56We've been in such rural locations. This is the moment we're starting in a big city onto this final stretch. Yeah
02:03And it's a bit overwhelming. It is a little bit. It's a bit sensory overload. There's so much going on.
02:08There's pros and cons to being in a big city.
02:11Loads of transportation. Traffic. Traffic. Fast forms of transportation. Money.
02:17Money. Exactly. Pros and cons are literally hand in hand. Yeah. Hand in hand. Hey!
02:22Yeah. With just one leg left to run, Molly and Tyler have leapt from last place to first, while two teams are still en route to the checkpoint.
02:33We thought we were doing okay, and when we saw that you guys were ahead, we were so shocked.
02:39I was happy for you guys, but also I was like, how? Not only have you made up the time, you've pushed two hours ahead.
02:45Yeah, we were speechless. We've just found our rhythm of it a little bit better.
02:50How do you think the others have got on? I really don't know.
02:54Locate your checkpoint. Right, Dad, keep your eyes peeled. It's got to be here somewhere.
02:59Hola? A click-clack hotel? No.
03:02Donde esta click-clack hotel? Come on, somebody.
03:06Do you reckon that's it there? That big black building?
03:09Yes. Down there on the left. We've got it.
03:11This is it. This is it. This is it.
03:13Dad, quick. We've made it. Dad, come on.
03:15Oh.
03:18All right. Third.
03:20What day?
03:22Day 29.
03:2412.
03:2514. That set us back a bit.
03:27We're 18 hours behind, but we won't progress if I keep thinking about it.
03:32Molly and Tyler were last, and they came first, so things can flip around.
03:37Still number three? We're number three. That'll do. Well done.
03:40We're hoping we'll be the comeback kids.
03:43We don't give up.
03:45OK. Be gentle.
03:47It's lost.
03:49Wow. We were struggling.
03:52It was a real gut punch going from first to last.
03:55What's the time?
03:5612.31.
03:58Money in transport did not go our way.
04:01I don't know how we're still here.
04:03No, I don't know how we're still here.
04:05As the finish line looms, last place Dylan and Jackie are the most cash strapped.
04:12And while funds are also dwindling for other teams, Roman and Harley Moon still have a quarter of their budget left.
04:20How did your budget go on this?
04:22I don't. Budget is a little bit tight, but I'm hoping we've got enough pennies in the bank just to get us to the end.
04:28Molly and Tyler, they're really good competitors.
04:31They've showed that throughout the race, but can they maintain the lead?
04:35We want them to be just peeping over the shoulder.
04:38Money-wise, you're probably in a better position than us.
04:41But you guys haven't come first yet.
04:43We're saving it to the end.
04:45The one thing we're not going to do going into this next leg is lose our heads.
04:50In this race, anything can happen.
04:52I mean, Dylan and Jackie and Anita and Val, what if they find some journey like you guys did that just bypasses everyone?
05:00We've just got to keep our cool and not pay attention to that.
05:04The outside noise.
05:05Nah.
05:06Do you know what the best thing about this leg is though?
05:08Go on.
05:09No more borders.
05:10Oh!
05:11I am so relieved.
05:12Thank the Lord.
05:13I am so relieved to not get another step.
05:15Unless they send us into Venezuela.
05:17Oh no, don't say that!
05:19Why are you manifesting that?
05:20Yeah!
05:21We actually sat on like a praying hand.
05:23It's not the place to say it.
05:35Buenos dias.
05:36Hello, guys.
05:37Hello.
05:38Hello.
05:39With less than a two hour lead.
05:40I have this envelope for you.
05:43Excellent.
05:44Let's go for it.
05:45First to depart, Molly and Tyler.
05:47Congratulations on reaching the final leg.
05:49Head to Uribia and await further instructions.
05:54Uribia.
05:55Woo!
05:56Map out.
05:57Final time.
05:58Where is Uribia?
05:59Okay.
06:00Uribia.
06:01There.
06:02Over 1,000 kilometres from bustling Medellin at the northern tip of South America.
06:09Uribia.
06:10Gateway to the vast La Guajira Desert where teams face a final challenge and must overcome scarce
06:21infrastructure, arid terrain and searing temperatures in one of the country's most remote regions.
06:28So, we've got to go up here.
06:33What looks like the quickest way on the map?
06:35To reach the finish line, teams could set a course inland.
06:40Traversing the sprawling Eastern Andes via transport connections in the major cities along the National Highway.
06:47Or, they may be tempted by the popular tourist trail that hugs the Caribbean coast.
06:53A chance to enjoy historic gems, but where travel can be costly.
06:58We could go inland.
07:01Bukaramanga is looking like a major city.
07:05There'll be a decent bus route to Uribia.
07:07But, we could go by the coast to Cartagena.
07:11There must be a reason why it's so popular with backpackers.
07:14It must be well connected.
07:15And it would be nice to see the coast one last time.
07:18Yeah.
07:19Let's do it.
07:20You ready?
07:21Yeah.
07:22Me and Moles are putting into play everything that has went well for us on this trip so far.
07:26Maybe we can jump on another overnight bus.
07:29That's a really good plan.
07:30Using well connected destinations along a backpacker route.
07:34The Molly and Tyler strategy is coming into full effect on this final stretch.
07:39We've got to win this man.
07:42The couple's plan, head straight to the Caribbean coast to Cartagena.
07:47To take advantage of its transport links to propel them towards Uribia.
07:53Oh, I'm excited.
07:54I like this energy.
07:56I'm very competitive.
07:58I just like winning.
08:00It's fun.
08:01The fact that we've got such a clear root in our head fills me with confidence.
08:06If Molly loses, it's like you just, like, sneezed on her forehead.
08:11Like, she is fuming.
08:13Right.
08:14Let's go find a bus.
08:15But you are good at winning.
08:17So, I'd rather be on your team.
08:21We're looking to get to Cartagena.
08:23For the 5.30.
08:245.30.
08:255.30.
08:26How much cost?
08:27180.
08:28And how much time?
08:3114 hours.
08:3214 hours.
08:34One moment.
08:36It's expensive.
08:37But we won't have to pay for a hotel.
08:39Let's do it.
08:40Okay.
08:41Boom.
08:42Can we get the Cartagena?
08:43Dos personas?
08:44Muchas gracias.
08:45By taking the overnight bus, we're saving money and we're still travelling the same distance,
08:53but we're going to wake up in Cartagena.
08:56Hopefully, that's enough to take us through.
08:58How long have we got to wait for this bus?
09:00About five hours.
09:01Whoo!
09:02But what we can do in that time is eat.
09:10As Molly and Tyler gamble on delaying their departure...
09:14Right, let's go.
09:16..setting off just under two hours behind them, Roman and Harley Moon.
09:21We've got to go east at some point.
09:23All down that right side is mountain.
09:25Could be long journeys along the coast.
09:27Along the Caribbean coast could be quicker.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Well, what if we found a bus to take us as far as possible up here?
09:34Baranquilla.
09:35I've got the weirdest fact in my head, because I've interviewed her once,
09:39but I think Shakira is from Baranquilla.
09:42And if we meet Shakira, that would be great.
09:45In their last leg, the thing that gave Molly and Tyler the win was that overnight bus.
09:51If we could get a night bus to Baranquilla, that would be amazing.
09:54Then after that, we head to Santa Marta and then the next town, the next town.
09:58Let's just try and get close to Jack Gawain.
10:01Last leg.
10:02It all comes down to this.
10:03Hopefully, we make it to that book and there's no names in there.
10:08It's the first time I've actually been...
10:10Come on!
10:11What?
10:12There's no names in the book!
10:14Chasing Molly and Tyler to the coast, Roman and Harley Moon are aiming further north to Baranquilla,
10:19then plan to city hop via Santa Marta towards Euribia.
10:25OK.
10:26I've got that nervous, sick feeling.
10:28I'm going to be on edge about every decision that we're about to make.
10:32A lot of these legs didn't go our way.
10:34We need some good luck.
10:35If we won the race, I think it'd be a miracle.
10:41Why are you running?
10:42Because we're in a race.
10:44Mum and Dad would be so happy if we won.
10:50Monteria, Cartagena.
10:52Baranquilla.
10:53Dad would be buzzing.
10:55Mum just cares that we come home in one piece.
11:01I don't know if I'm looking at the bus time or the football.
11:04I'm quite interested in the football.
11:05Who's Man United?
11:06Ready, little brother?
11:07Yeah.
11:1714 hour bus.
11:18So, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.
11:248, 9, 10, 11, 12.
11:271, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
11:32I've lost it.
11:33Er, ¿cuánto es?
11:35180.
11:36180,000.
11:37¿Para dos o solo?
11:39Uno.
11:41This is the most expensive bus of the race.
11:44Should we do it?
11:45Yeah.
11:47Our whole strategy has been save our cash so right at the end.
11:51We have the budget to spend on a good bus and not have to worry about that.
11:55Barranquilla, siete de la noche.
11:57Muchas gracias.
11:58Gracias.
12:00We've got a four hour wait, but by tomorrow morning we might be the closest team to the checkpoint.
12:06Do you know the best thing?
12:07What?
12:08I can watch the rest of the game.
12:09Oh!
12:10Oh!
12:11This I can get on board with.
12:14What am I going to do for the next four hours?
12:17As the siblings sit tight for their evening departure...
12:22Oh, wow.
12:23This is amazing, isn't it?
12:24The view.
12:25It goes on for miles.
12:26What do you call them?
12:27A concrete jungle?
12:28Still at the checkpoint, Dylan and Jackie and Anita and Bal unable to set off until tomorrow.
12:34It is a killer that we're 18 hours behind.
12:38I felt like we had zero luck in that last leg.
12:40Yeah.
12:41It was brutal.
12:42Panama, it was like the tax man in the end.
12:44Yeah.
12:45It took everything from us.
12:46Who's budgeted well enough to be able to navigate the last leg?
12:50It is difficult to judge if we have enough money.
12:53But everyone's in it now, aren't they?
12:55Everyone is in it with their eye on the prize.
12:58Even when we've been in the trickiest of situations, somehow we've managed to get out of them.
13:05Every second we'll be focused on getting closer to that finish line.
13:08We want to finish first.
13:09Whatever happens, I think we should all be really proud of ourselves.
13:14If you'd told me in leg one that I'd be still here leg five, I wouldn't oblige you.
13:19It's been difficult.
13:21There's a huge gap of a day with the other two teams.
13:25That we shouldn't lose faith.
13:27But we won one.
13:28It was amazing.
13:29You have, exactly.
13:30We won one.
13:31Anything can happen.
13:32Best of luck.
13:33Yep.
13:34Good luck to you.
13:35We'll get our roller skates on tomorrow.
13:36It's all downhill.
13:37Yeah.
13:39As darkness falls over Medellin.
13:42Catalina.
13:43Gracias.
13:44Two teams make their escape on long distance overnight buses.
13:48Driver.
13:49Don't stop at all.
13:52They're just putting the bags on the people that are getting out last first.
13:56And then hopefully they'll shout at Ferran Freela.
14:00Santa Marta.
14:02Santa Marta.
14:03This bus goes to Santa Marta, where we wanted to go, from Barranquilla.
14:08That is so silly.
14:09We didn't even ask about Santa Marta.
14:11We can ask the bus driver and see if we can just stay on.
14:14Yeah, just try and stay on.
14:16Roman and Harley Moon spot an opportunity to save crucial time.
14:20Avoiding a change in Barranquilla would take them 100 kilometres further along the coastline on the same bus.
14:27Senor, the billet is for Barranquilla.
14:28Is it possible to pay for Santa Marta?
14:29In Barranquilla we're looking at.
14:30It's not possible.
14:31Barranquilla, buy the other ticket to Santa Marta.
14:32So we need to go to the ticket office at Barranquilla.
14:33Yeah, so we've got to get off the bus, go into the office, buy a ticket, get back on the bus before it leaves.
14:49Right.
14:50We really have tried to win a leg and we've come up short every single time.
14:58So I just want to keep moving because this is our last chance.
15:08Where's Arabia?
15:104.15am.
15:11Got it.
15:12Anita and Dad Bal are starting their big push to get back in the running.
15:17My instinct is inland.
15:20That looks the directest route, doesn't it?
15:22Yeah.
15:23Yeah.
15:24Look a moranga.
15:25That's a big city.
15:26They'll have direct connections.
15:27And that's how we can catch up.
15:28Yeah.
15:29Hopefully we can get there today and then we move up to Uribe.
15:34That would be the dream.
15:35We're away.
15:36Definitely feeling the pressure this morning.
15:38There are two teams already in front of us with an 18-hour advantage.
15:42Oh, there's a taxi lot.
15:44Excellent.
15:45But there have been some legs where the wind is beneath us.
15:48I'm hoping this is going to be one of those.
15:50Unlike the two teams already en route to the coast, Anita and Bal are hoping to travel
15:56a shorter overall distance by plotting a course east to the transport hub of Bukaramanga
16:03before heading north to Uribe.
16:06We're on the moon.
16:07I'm happy.
16:08Winning the race would be amazing.
16:12What an achievement.
16:13And to have done it with my dad, that would be it.
16:16Let's go.
16:17Final push, Dad.
16:19We're going to win because we're strong, we're fit, we're determined.
16:22And...
16:23We're Yorkshire.
16:24Yep.
16:25Hola.
16:26Dos tickets para Bukaramanga.
16:27There's eight o'clock gone.
16:28That would be perfect for us.
16:29Quanto cuesta?
16:30Ciento trece.
16:31Yeah, we've got the money.
16:32Okay, perfect.
16:33We're on the next bus.
16:34We're only up, Dad.
16:35We're only up.
16:36As Anita and Bal capitalise on their early start with a quick getaway from Medellin...
16:39Last night someone had their cat just running around the bus.
16:54Roman and Harley Moon and Molly and Tyler have been progressing neck and neck through the
16:59night, with the siblings now just edging ahead.
17:02This is a long bus.
17:04We're still not even there yet.
17:06Oh, no.
17:07Oh, my God.
17:08Is it bad?
17:09Oh, that's really made me really sad.
17:10What?
17:11Tell me.
17:12Dylan and Jackie have decided to leave the race.
17:13Oh, no.
17:14They wish you luck reaching the finish line.
17:15And now just three teams will compete in the final leg.
17:30Well, that's really sad news, ma'am.
17:32Oh, they were so close to finishing it.
17:35You cannot underestimate just how difficult this race is.
17:40Maybe they did what's right for them.
17:42Yeah.
17:44That's good.
17:46Well, that's divine.
17:48Oh, God.
17:49How are you feeling?
17:50It's tough.
17:51I mean, the budget, we've counted it so many times.
17:52But we can probably survive a day and a half.
17:53Yeah.
17:54Mexico sort of killed us to start with.
17:55It did.
17:56And then we were chasing all the time.
17:57Yeah.
17:58This is a sad news day.
17:59Bank of Dylan is just closing down, I think.
18:02And we're bankrupt.
18:03But it's not just the money.
18:04This race is so tough.
18:05I also am very tired.
18:06We've tried our hardest.
18:07And we just want to bow out on our own terms with our heads held high.
18:08We gave our all.
18:09We gave our all.
18:10We should take that as a positive for us both.
18:11And we've tried our hardest and we just want to bow out on our own terms with our heads
18:16held high.
18:17We gave our all.
18:18We should take that as a positive for us both.
18:19That's it.
18:20The race has made me realize that I should have more faith in myself and to embrace life.
18:24And when you're ready to go for it, well, you're pretty good.
18:25But it just wants to go for the world, I'm not just the money.
18:27This race is very tough.
18:28But it's not just the money.
18:29This race is so tough.
18:30I also am very tired.
18:31We've tried our hardest.
18:32And we just want to bow out on our own terms with our heads held high.
18:36We gave our all.
18:37We should take that as a positive for us both.
18:38This race has made me realize that I should have more faith in myself and to embrace life.
18:47i've seen you go on another level of strength i feel like a new woman and um
18:56yeah it's taken me nearly 60 years to feel like this but i'm a better person for the whole
19:01experience seeing you be strong makes me strong as well my mom has helped me grow she's got that
19:11best version of dylan out of me hopefully i can continue to be a better dylan
19:20this journey has been amazing it's shown me that there's like a whole world out there
19:28and i'll always keep this with me we have so many memories seeing all the wildlife
19:35and also getting to know people in other countries as well
19:40it's been special sharing it with dylan meant the world to me yeah and me too
19:47and our family going to be in the state of shock yeah i don't expect us to get this far
19:52i'm over the moon that dylan has developed in this five weeks incredibly and um
20:01i feel quite emotional about it but i'm really proud of him and excited for him and just love
20:08him to bits we've done things we would never ever dream of doing it was incredible wasn't it yeah
20:20with just three teams left racing to the finish line
20:24we're nearly at the coast which is pretty good going
20:27roman and harley moon are arriving in the city of barranquilla
20:34this could be make or break at the lake because we could build some serious hours if we can get to
20:39santa marta on this bus it could really change our position okay it's gonna be a dash
20:45with just a 15 minute set down go go go go failure to secure tickets means the siblings must face the
20:53uncertainty of the next departure holly you got that okay
20:58uh my job is guarding the bus to make sure the driver doesn't leave
21:06necesito bus but uh santa marta uh dos there's having a little chat keeping busy over there
21:1560 60. 65. driver's coming back come on roman this is so tense her heart is racing come on let's get
21:27there i mean if the bus needs to leave i'm actually coming helpless what there's none left no tickets
21:36left the bus is empty they said none left because i bombed it don't pinch me don't pinch me let's go
21:48that's a relief yeah well done that's a relief we've moved so far yeah this final egg is the first
21:59time i felt like okay no we we can do this their plan now to continue their hop up the caribbean coast
22:08using santa marta as a springboard to reach palomino one town closer to the finish line all before nightfall
22:18come on come on come on you're so fast
22:24i'm not moving fast at all this isn't what we wanted
22:28you know it's bad traffic when people start getting out can you see how far ahead it is
22:33i don't think it's bad we're stepping this truck for about 50 minutes now we've moved about 100 meters
22:39we could be here for hours and hours and hours it's the little things that will kill you in this race
22:48this could be the loss gutted
22:52it's beautiful this is really cool on their journey along the coast molly and tyler have arrived in
23:08the port city of cartagena where they plan to enjoy a final taste of the caribbean before an onward
23:15connection tomorrow morning it's a bit more of us than that yeah that's so cool once an export hub for
23:23gold and emeralds during the colonial era the city was a constant target for pirates and privateers
23:30including sir francis drake who looted it in 1586
23:34today old and new sits side by side with towering skyscrapers rising above colorful architecture
23:46here the streets echo with the country's rich musical traditions that have earned colombia the name
23:52the land of a thousand rhythms
24:05this is amazing what dance is that champeta okay champeta this rhythm is cartagena can you teach
24:20us man yes of course we're going to start from here we're going to separate the legs circular
24:26oh what a slow one yeah molly's used to winding her hips like that i don't wind my hips like that
24:39when i first met moles on strictly come dancing i just thought wow she's like this light that when
24:45she just walks into the room it was like you're pretty incredible one two three four
24:51our first date was during the tour on strictly one two three eight we were all staying in the same
25:03hotel and we sneaked out had jerk chicken wings and a slushie and then we were too scared to walk hand
25:11in hand back to the hotel in case that a pap called us i'm sweating it's been a long time since
25:16strictly come constant we first told each other we loved each other on that tour come on i knew
25:24pretty soon i was gassed my whole body just needed to say it oh that's so sweet yeah i feel limbered up
25:32okay ready yeah music okay
25:48that was just the perfect lift to get through this spinal leg this has been the best
25:54great night in colombia i'm actually going to be the best night in colombia
25:58i fell in love with moles watching her dance i fell in love all over again watching that i swear to god
26:04oh my days
26:08that's really nice this is the best night in colombia i'm actually sad for the race to come to an end
26:27we've just learned so much i'm gonna chill out well and realize that it's okay if you're not in control
26:33yeah you've shown that you can deal with that that really means a lot
26:41the race is without that one of the toughest things that i've ever done in my whole entire
26:46life but it has proved to us how much of a team we are and as if i thought i couldn't be any more
26:52close to her this happened i was worried we'd find this situation like so high pressure that it would
27:01put pressure on us as a relationship i knew that we're in love and i love you but this is just
27:09taking it up so much more i felt the most amount of love over these few weeks
27:16i'm so glad we did this if we don't win rematch
27:30it's so annoying that we arrived here so much later you've got two choices
27:34moan about it we get over it all right moan about it it is following a two-hour traffic jam roman and
27:41harley moon have finally reached the small beach town of palomino thank you man could i ask you
27:50tomorrow do you know if there's a bus that goes directly to europea no you need to make a transfer
27:57in rio hacha but the buses in here if they don't want to stop they don't stop okay it might be tough
28:04getting out of here having made a leap of almost 400 kilometers via inland highways
28:11anita and bal are in the well-connected city of bucaramanga look at this one of your favorite
28:18things in the whole wide world a hot dog how are you feeling about tomorrow pretty good we've traveled
28:24some distance and that's the name of the game when we started early morning we're 18 hours behind but it's
28:32worked out really well so we've got a good chance to catch up the race is really tough and you're
28:38still smiling yeah because i'm enjoying it all i'm trying new things i mean you've always been
28:43adventurous but never had the opportunity but i think what you've achieved is amazing he's so brave
28:50to come and do this because it's really hard not just physically but mentally i'm really proud of him
28:56and i know he'd hate me saying this but i really am i have to keep reminding myself that you're 68.
29:02don't remind me i think you're incredible dad the race it's been really good for me because
29:10i've learned a lot about myself i will now really consider retiring do a bit more traveling and enjoy
29:17myself good day get our stuff packed and tomorrow we move
29:35how dreamy your little beach walk
29:37palomino
29:45sandwiched between the caribbean sea and the sierra nevada de santa marta mountains
29:52standing at more than 5 700 meters it's the world's highest coastal mountain range home to four
29:59indigenous groups who believe it is the heart of the world and that preserving its ecosystem is essential
30:06for earth's well-being oh i can see some dogs hello hello everybody
30:18are they all with you
30:22and you walk them yeah in my life every day walk on the beach with the dog
30:28that's some beautiful really beautiful look sierra nevada de santa martha oh wow it looks like
30:34someone's put a painting in the middle of paradise hey doggies are you having a nice drink
30:46i cannot believe this whole amazing experience is trying to an end it's done the thing that i
30:52wanted which is change our relationship regardless of race position we'll always have some incredible
30:57moments that we'll have for forever when i think back on roman and i in london we felt like we were
31:05quite different people and we didn't always see eye to eye this one doesn't like the water
31:10water at all he's not sure i'm hoping me and roman will keep hanging out and book some trips together
31:18again because i've loved spending time with him we have so many memories together all of those memories
31:27they've always involved mum and dad what's great is that this is ours yeah spending this amount of time
31:34with harley has been incredible and i think being ourselves to one another has been fantastic
31:42when did you get so special when i don't know before we came out here harley said to
31:47mum i know roe loves me but i don't think he likes me which is really sad but i think now she does know
31:55she knows because it's more than siblings now it's you know back to being best mates you show us the way
32:05you're gonna win the race with us new teammate we need to find a bus and get moving yep
32:11after spending the night in cartagena molly and tyler are aiming to leave on an all-day bus departing
32:30from the main terminal more than 15 kilometers away the bus is at nine what's the time now eight oh
32:37shit let's go there's taxis over there are you proper mad at me a little bit yeah okay today we
32:49need to make big ground we're gonna try and push to get to rio haka making the bus to rio acha would
32:56put the couple within striking distance of uribia come on it's 8 55 we have five minutes to catch the
33:059am bus um why is he stopping there where's everyone going on this setting one this traffic's
33:15killing me but we are within touching distance of the bus station go go go go right there it is
33:27keep going come on quick
33:35we made it we're still on track next time we go backpacking we take two alarm clocks such a nugget
33:52got your passport money yes as the furthest team from uribia anita and bal are looking to accelerate
33:59i think this is the tickets right yeah by making a swift departure from bucaramanga
34:18it's all fully booked ah could we get to somewhere else anywhere
34:24with buses to my cow fully booked the route via santa marta means taking a detour of more than 150
34:33kilometers on an overnight bus ah i'm feeling a bit dispirited 9pm bus gets in at 6am oh i don't know
34:47who knows where the other teams are right i only know what we're doing and they could be in all sorts of
34:52situations with father and daughter at a standstill this is it we have to get to rio acha and then get to
35:03your river today roman and harley moon are making tracks from palomino oh my god is that a bus rio
35:13watcher i don't see amazing finally luck is on our side
35:21it was fake that that bus pulled up at the right time
35:23i'm so excited right now
35:27traveling the same route molly and tyler are in close pursuit of the siblings
35:34we've covered a lot of ground we are only a short jump away from rio haka and we still
35:39have got money to get a quick taxi transfer to get to urubio we got this
35:47but unable to get back on the road until night time
35:51well this has had a little fun to the tail but we're here now aren't we
35:55anita and bal are waiting it out what is that dad is that a pool table
36:01do you have a game of pool why not when was the last time we played pool last time you were at
36:06university it's a long time ago i know dad taught me how to play when i was about 15 years old
36:12he took me for my first half pint but people thought it was unusual no father takes an agent
36:18door to a pool it was unheard of it was unheard of i always felt there's no difference between a boy and a
36:24girl i saw you coming to the world i was the first one that you looked at did that was i yes when you
36:32were born good shot i remember it was a wednesday seven minutes to three i know the time in them
36:40days asians frowned on girls and my parents said to me you don't celebrate for a girl it's a boy you
36:45celebrate for i said no it's exactly the same for me so i went straight to off license bottle create
36:52champagne and i celebrated fair i feel like you've always championed me you were quite strict but
36:59you were also open-minded you know i wanted the experience of life when i had to pick what degree
37:07to do my dad's typical indian dad thought i was naturally going to go off and study law
37:14oh flipping heck she wanted to go into broadcasting and i said to her if you want to go broadcasting go for
37:20the best course all my life you have always said go for it yeah however there was still a lot of
37:28pressure i just feel like every single woman in our family has been expected to live a certain way
37:34not the boys yeah recently i made a big life change it's quite a big deal to have a divorce in my family
37:43certainly divorced women are like pariahs but my dad threw the rule book out he's always had my back
37:50i appreciate that when i came to you you were there for me you supported me all the things you've gone
37:56through will stand by you regardless it was hard for her but i was supportive it doesn't matter what
38:03society says or what other people think about you that's irrelevant you said you've worked so hard
38:10you deserve to make yourself happy of course even if i make mistakes yes whatever you do we're 100
38:19behind you yeah oh no no no no no no no come on no no none of that no no you're i don't know where
38:29tears are coming from um you're the best in the world i'm the best when i was at my saddest my dad made me
38:39feel supported loved for the first time i felt it's okay i'm allowed to have i'm allowed to have a
38:50hiccup in my life i'm so proud of you i don't think i would have got through it if i didn't have my dad
38:57we want to live your life happy with everything yeah everything you do okay yeah okay thanks god
39:06everything you do yeah we're into the race and we're feeling more of a connection yeah yes i feel
39:15different good i feel different it's quite wonderful that we're having these conversations we've found a bit
39:22more tenderness towards each other no i feel good okay good but thank you i just want to say thank you
39:29don't make me tears it's really nice and able to communicate like this with an eater come on let's
39:36let's play the game it's a very good feeling let me thrash you then yeah the last couple of years has been
39:47really tough and what i'm very good at doing is plowing forward and not really giving myself time to
39:53think about my own feelings the race has been an amazing opportunity not just to spend time with my
40:00dad but to think about actually how i want to live my life going forward now yeah well done dad you taught me
40:10well though i think this will be us right still out in front and less than 100 kilometers from uribia
40:27bags at the back of the bus roman and harley moon are arriving in rio acha with plans to keep pushing
40:33onwards into the night all right taxis i see a taxi oh oh no this makes me feel sick when we get these
40:43the roads between rio acha and uribia have been deemed unsafe to travel on at night
40:49teams may not proceed during the hours of darkness it's dark in an hour and uribia is hours away
40:57yeah we won't make it in time oh damn okay let's find the hotel asap and then leave first thing in the
41:11morning all right just keep breathing gracias gracias just 15 minutes later molly and tyler have also
41:22arrived into rio acha closing the gap on the brother and sister teams may not proceed during the hours
41:31of darkness considering we're so close it's just well annoying we best find a hotel as two teams grind to
41:41a halt let's go anita and bal are set to depart right we're 33 and 34 dad okay making an overnight
41:49leap of 550 kilometers towards the finish line bus gets in at 6am and then tomorrow we fly that's it
41:56we just move as fast as we can we are going to finish it in style me and dad
42:05now that is the last dinner stuck in rio acha roman and harley moon i think if we get to bed early
42:13enough tonight and in the morning is that last bit of determination and pray that we've done a good
42:21run on this leg we've done the best we can i'm feeling quite nervous for tomorrow because i still have
42:29a small hope in the back of my mind that we might get there first i'm just glad that we couldn't be
42:36having dinner in europea tonight molly tyler and me and roe left checkpoint at quite a similar time
42:44so it's so hard to call well done whatever happens well done i don't think we can win
42:53i haven't said that directly to harley but i don't think we can win
42:57all right let's get some sleep the traffic jam yesterday was the first punch and not being
43:04able to get to euribia tonight was the knockout blow just one street away wow the mems
43:15this is race day five for the first time our competitive spark has been ignited
43:21the hunt for first place is on some people are taking it more serious than others
43:26i think both of the other teams are actually really close molly looks hot in a cowgirl hat
43:40tomorrow as soon as the sun rises we're gonna be in that taxi and we're gonna be on our way
