00:00John Cena reveals real reason for changing name of WWE finishing move.
00:05John Cena reveals why the F.U. turned into the A.A.
00:09John Cena has defeated many opponents with his iconic attitude adjustment over the years.
00:14The move was first named F.U. as a pun related to Brock Lesnar's F.V.
00:19However, WWE changed the F.U. into the attitude adjustment.
00:24During his recent interview with The Ringer's Bill Simmons,
00:27John Cena revealed that the company turning PG in 2008 was the reason behind the name change.
00:34Brock Lesnar's move was the F.V., Cena recalled.
00:38I had a similar move where we both picked guys up.
00:40I didn't try to make Brock look bad, but I was abrasive with my trash talk and was like,
00:45You have the F.V., I have the F.U.
00:48That's where the name of the move happened.
00:51So, I kept using it.
00:53And then, as we evolved into PG, I was told,
00:57We can't use that anymore.
00:59And then switching it to the attitude adjustment has been incredible,
01:02because
01:03It's so weird that art imitates life, Cena said.
01:07I'm always trying to change people's perspective or offer them a new perspective.
01:13I'm leaning into the fact that you can adjust your attitude no matter what at any moment.
01:18That really changes the dynamic.
01:20It evolved because it had to, John Cena said.
01:23It's also interesting to note that John Cena revealed in an interview with SI.com back in 2009 that renaming his finishing move was totally his call.
01:33WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi was the first recipient of the newly renamed AA.
01:39John Cena is set to compete in his retirement match against Gunther at Saturday night's main event on December 13th.
01:45It will be interesting to see if the AA will help Cena score one last victory.
