00:00Hi, Cozy and Heidi, how are you?
00:02Great.
00:02Awesome.
00:03I don't even know where to look at this point because...
00:05I know, which one, who's probably.
00:08I know it's crazy.
00:09Exactly, and going off of that, you guys made it so believable.
00:13Like, I get it, it's your jobs, but I really, like, even between your voices and the way you acted, it was surreal to see.
00:21Happy to hear it.
00:21Right?
00:22That's awesome.
00:22I've gotten a couple of people saying that they thought the voices were dubbed right after the switch.
00:27You're kidding.
00:27Which is awesome.
00:28I did.
00:28I thought that they were switched.
00:31We actually made a big effort in some of the parts where we're talking at the same time.
00:36Cozy and I are both very musical, and we would match each other's pitch so that we would sound like we just happened to be related, and that's exactly...
00:44We talk in the same place.
00:45Yeah, it was fun to mimic each other.
00:48That is actually incredible.
00:49I can actually pinpoint the moments where I thought that you guys switched and then switched back, but you didn't.
00:53That's awesome.
00:54So that just is attested into your talent.
00:57Exactly, and Cozy, how did you...
00:59You seem so mature when you switch characters.
01:02You really do.
01:03And not that you're not in real life, but you snapped into this mom figure that kind of blew me away.
01:10Was it a challenge for you to do that, or how did you tap into that?
01:13Well, I am a wife and a mother in real...
01:15I'm messing with you.
01:18Sorry, I just wanted to say that in one interview.
01:21I was like, this is it.
01:21Should I walk out now?
01:23Sorry, Disney.
01:24Cozy, bring it at home.
01:26That's amazing.
01:27That was incredible.
01:29You had me.
01:29But I think I just learned so much from you in just creating these characters.
01:35Plus, you know, on the page, Catherine can look kind of one-dimensional.
01:38She can look like she's overbearing, she's type A, she knows what she wants, she's bossy.
01:45But then if you really look at what these characters are dealing with, which is the main conflict in the movie is that they both lost someone, Ellie's dad, Catherine's husband.
01:54And they both, like you have said, grieve separately and in their own ways.
01:59And so Catherine, everything that looks annoying, frustrating, overbearing about her just comes from a place of like, I love you so much, I'm willing to let you not like me in order to keep you safe.
02:11And, I don't know, the minute I hit that, it was like, chink, it was like just the little pick in the ice and it all just cracked.
02:19That was your way in.
02:20It was my way in.
02:21And then just like learning all your mannerisms and trying to figure it out that way.
02:26So thank you.
02:27I appreciate you saying that.
02:29Absolutely.
02:29That was one of the things that really did stick out to me, so I had to start with that.
02:34And for you, Heidi, this is your first on-screen role.
02:38Ever.
02:38Which I can't believe.
02:41Believe it, baby.
02:42It's true.
02:43It's crazy.
02:43I come from the theater world.
02:44And I have like, I've devoted my life gratefully to being a theater actress and just like miraculously was able to do this movie.
02:55And I'm so thankful that Disney Channel gave me a shot.
02:59Such an incredible first gig on screen.
03:02Unbelievable, right?
03:03And how was it to take the role from, you know, the stage to behind, or in front of the camera?
03:08I mean, I've never done anything like that before.
03:13And it was definitely a big transition.
03:16But luckily, I was so supported by the greatest people.
03:21Both, you know, our offstage creators and our director, Steve Carr, and everybody that was so lovely and generous to me behind the scenes.
03:31But also, I had this one.
03:32And she's younger than I am, but she's a veteran of doing movies.
03:37And she's such a wonderful TV and film actress that I would often, like, match my performance.
03:43Like, if I didn't know what I was doing, I'd look at her to get, like, the temperature of this, follow her because she knows what she's doing.
03:52Because she's been on camera since she was seven.
03:53And so I had so much great support.
03:56And really, it was just a matter of, like, you know, I know how to act, but I've never done it for film before.
04:02So it was just a matter of kind of, like, recalibrating some things a little bit and kind of, like, clicking things down a little bit.
04:09And like you said, like, you can think something and it comes across on camera rather than being, like, waka, waka, waka.
04:15You know, like we do on Broadway.
04:17We do waka, waka, waka.
04:18That's what you have to do.
04:19Yeah.
04:19Yeah.
04:20Yeah.
04:20I mean, it's amazing.
04:21Heidi can play these characters any way you want them.
04:25You know?
04:26I'm going to do the opera next.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Oh, my gosh.
04:30Yes, please.
04:30I love it.
04:31Please.
04:31Do it with me.
04:32We can do it.
04:32Yeah, just one day.
04:34Yeah, got it.
04:35That's amazing.
04:36And going off of the film as well, it's such a family-friendly film.
04:39And I love DCOMs.
04:41And usually they have a central message or an ending theme.
04:44But I noticed that throughout this film there were so many messages and so many themes about body positivity,
04:50about understanding other people while they have different grieving processes and so on.
04:55There's a laundry list of things.
04:56Do you guys have a certain message that you loved the most or that you loved to play out the most?
05:02I really, really, really love the compassion that our movie puts forward because I think we live in a time right now where we all could use a little more compassion for our neighbor.
05:14And even though this is specifically a mother-daughter relationship, getting back in touch with the love and compassion they once felt for each other, I really think it's something I took away from me in my real life and try to think about other people a little bit more.
05:30Yeah, and I mean, the body positivity message was my personal favorite, but also the idea that if you're just going about, I mean, okay, so if we were like, we're going to spread this message,
05:45it would have been like, stop the story, here's the message, you know.
05:49But the fact that you said there are so many, I think just speaks to the fact that in real life there are so many things that we come across and deal with and learn from each other.
05:57And, you know, everybody at Steve Carr, our director, Bridget Carpenter, our writer, everybody was just like, let's make a sincere story
06:06and just talk about what real people are going through and their real problems and their real resolutions and, yeah, and revelations.
06:16Thank you, that's my word.
06:18And so I think the messages that you hear almost go in deeper because we weren't like, and here's the motto, you know.
06:26Right, you guys did it so well and I loved the film.
06:29I'm so glad.
06:29And I can't wait to hear all the positive messages about it.
06:32Thank you very much.
