Jesus asked a man at the Pool of Bethesda: Do you want to be healed? Sounds obvious, right? But some people have adjusted to their problems and don't actually want change. They get sympathy, attention, or benefits from staying stuck. What condition have you learned to live with that God wants to heal? If you can live with it, you might have to die with it.

03:43I don't want to make too many announcements today because in January we're making a lot of changes in our ministry.
03:52We're dropping some ministries, we're adding some ministries, we're modifying other ministries.
03:58Different things are happening.
04:00So that's all been being, you know, kind of worked out at this juncture.
04:05But I did want to mention that in February of 2026, I'll be starting my silver anniversary on the radio.

05:20Okay, there's different things going on, which I don't want to, you know, get involved with right now.
05:25Some of it's still speculation.
05:28Not sure what we're doing.
05:30Hey, I wanted to talk to you today about something important.
05:34Jesus was famous almost for constantly getting in trouble.
05:42He would get in trouble constantly, and you knew it was coming.
05:46See, in the Old Testament, the Sabbath was huge.
05:54The Sabbath was big.
05:56Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening.
06:00Started the Sabbath in Judaism.
06:05And it was a big deal.
06:07But God had gotten sick of it, and he was morbidly tired of it because it had been rotted out and corrupted, the Sabbath.
06:20And he wanted to change it in the New Testament.
06:27The Sabbath is still valid in the New Testament, but it expanded from one day a week to seven days a week.
06:34The Sabbath is seven days a week now.
06:37Every day is your Christian Sabbath in the New Covenant.
06:43But Jesus, when he was alive on this earth, was constantly getting into trouble.
06:50Five times, Jesus got in trouble for violating the Sabbath.
06:57Five times.
07:00And this was only for healing someone.
07:04Five times.
07:05Check this out.
07:05Luke 14.
07:06Luke 14.
07:07It came to pass as Jesus went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath.
07:21And while Jesus was at the house, everybody was staring at him, it says.
07:25They got their eyes on him.
07:28They want to see if he's going to screw up.
07:30Verse 2.
07:32And behold, there was a certain man there who had the dropsy.
07:37This is the King James Version.
07:40This is the King James Version.
07:42Dropsy.
07:44Hudro pikos is the Greek word.
07:46It means elephantitis.
07:49This poor guy had elephantitis.
07:51Have you ever seen elephantitis?
07:52It's a vascular disorder.
07:54And I mean, it's awful.
07:55One of your limbs gets gigantic.
08:00Okay?
08:00Like your calves will go from here to here.
08:04You have some body part that gets enormously huge and is non-functional anymore.
08:11So this guy had the dropsy in his leg.
08:15And he couldn't walk.
08:19This guy couldn't walk.
08:20If he could walk, it was a major chore using crutches, assuming he could walk.
08:28But the probability of him walking with his calf the size of a spare tire in your car, probably not going to happen.
08:38And he is a faithful servant of Jehovah, this dropsy guy.
08:42And he's in the synagogue listening to Jesus teach.
08:49And the Lord looks down at him and sees him sitting there.
08:54For obvious reasons, he wasn't up walking around.
08:57And Jesus asked the Pharisees in the house,
09:02Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?
09:06Okay, so this had to have been some kind of a house church.
09:09This wasn't a synagogue anywhere.
09:11This was in, it says it was at a house, the Pharisees' house.
09:15So he must have had a pretty big place.
09:20Because a lot of people were there that day watching Jesus teach.
09:26And of course, it was spectacular to say the least.
09:29He asked him, Is it lawful, according to the law of Moses,
09:33Are you legally allowed to heal someone on the Sabbath day?
09:43Now remember, God's got a secret plan here.
09:46He's transitioning out of the old covenant to the new one.
09:49And he's expanding the Sabbath to the new covenant.
09:53So if you are worshiping God on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
10:00That's no problem with God.
10:03You pick the day.
10:04You want to go to church, so to speak.
10:07But if you're not going to church, or you do go to church, it doesn't matter.
10:12Your Sabbath to God, spiritually, is seven days a week now.
10:16Well, he asked them that question.
10:19It says, They held their peace, and Jesus took him and healed him.
10:23Now, this Greek word for took here was really interesting.
10:28I was very surprised when I read this text in the Greek.
10:32Epilebanomai is the Greek word that means to see somebody.
10:38Kind of like when I was a kid, and I was saying stupid things or doing something,
10:43and my mom came up to me and grabbed my shoulders and started shaking me like that.
10:50And this Greek word would be used if you grabbed somebody.
10:56Okay?
10:57It's not a word where you would say, you know,
11:00Hi, let me help you up here.
11:03Go ahead.
11:04Just scoot over there.
11:05No, this was a kind of a semi-violent act.
11:09This was in a state of aggression.
11:11He took the guy.
11:13My guess is, I'm seeing this in my mind,
11:16the guy is sitting, or he's on the floor,
11:21and Jesus reaches down and grabs this dude and pulls him up.
11:30And it says, He healed him.
11:34And then it says, He let him go.
11:36Apoluwa released him.
11:41Jesus physically grabbed this dude.
11:49Physically grabbed him.
11:51You know, people used to criticize Smith Wigglesworth
11:54because he had kind of a hands-on method of dealing with sick people.
11:59Jesus had the same method.
12:01Smith learned it from Jesus.
12:04Jesus just grabbed this dude,
12:06yanked him up,
12:07and healed him.
12:09And then he released him.
12:11Like that.
12:12That means to release.
12:13Apoluwa.
12:15Well, that's an interesting situation
12:16because Jesus got in trouble for doing that on the Sabbath day.
12:22He flat out pissed these people off.
12:25One day, Jesus was in the synagogue.
12:27It wasn't in a house.
12:28It was in the synagogue.
12:29You remember that.
12:30And there was a guy in there with a withered hand
12:33who was totally disabled.
12:37And Jesus told him to stretch forth his hand.
12:41And it became whole like the other.
12:45He got in trouble.
12:48And the Bible says in that incident,
12:50he looked around with anger
12:52because none of these people had any compassion at all
12:56on this poor sick man.
12:58And that defeated the purpose of the Sabbath.
13:01You see, the Jews had rotted out the Sabbath
13:04and had corrupted it
13:07when, in fact, the Sabbath
13:10was for man.
13:16And God wanted to bless people on the Sabbath,
13:19not hurt them.
13:22And these religious people,
13:24blinded by religious demons,
13:25couldn't see that.
13:26They were just blind.
13:30One day, Jesus, in the Sabbath,
13:32in the synagogue,
13:34he looks down
13:35and he sees this woman
13:36with severe kyphosis.
13:39Her back was bent forward like this.
13:41She was like the hunchback of Notre Dame.
13:46She's bent over.
13:48The medical term was kyphosis.
13:50And it could have been scoliosis,
13:53but bending forward is kyphosis.
13:56And Jesus looks at her and goes,
14:00woman, you are loose from your infirmity.
14:04And he laid his hands on her hump.
14:07See, this is how Smith Wigglesworth learned it.
14:11Jesus was a physical,
14:13active healer in many conditions.
14:16Not in everyone, obviously,
14:19but he physically grabbed this old woman
14:22right in her hump.
14:24He went for the hump.
14:27She just stands straight up.
14:30Oh, I'll tell you what.
14:31The ruler of this synagogue
14:33reams Jesus out.
14:38This is how sick
14:41you would have to be
14:43and loaded with religious demons
14:45to have no concern whatsoever
14:48for this disabled woman.
14:52And then to turn around
14:53and ream out
14:54Jesus standing there
14:57in person face to face.
14:59Can you imagine that?
15:00I've never seen Jesus.
15:02I have no idea what he looks like.
15:04This guy was standing there
15:06looking at him
15:07and had to dress him down.
15:15This is how powerful
15:16religious demons are.
15:19They are super-powered demons.
15:21We have a terrible time
15:22getting them out of people.
15:26One day, Jesus is walking down the street.
15:28He's got the disciples in.
15:29They say,
15:30hey, Lord,
15:30Lord, check this out.
15:31See this guy sitting here?
15:32Look at that.
15:33There he is.
15:36Some guy is sitting there
15:37on his fanny
15:38with a pottery cup
15:39and he was begging for money.
15:41He was totally disabled
15:42because he had a congenital blindness.
15:46He probably didn't even have any eyes.
15:51He was born blind.
15:53And then back in the day,
15:56in Christ's day,
15:58and long before that,
15:59and currently,
16:01people believed in reincarnation.
16:04They believed that
16:05if you were a rotten person
16:06in a previous life,
16:08when you were born in this life,
16:10you were born disabled
16:11to purge you
16:13and pay for those sins
16:14you committed
16:15in a previous life
16:16or in a previous pre-existing state.
16:20For example,
16:20some people back then
16:21and do now
16:23believe that
16:24all human beings,
16:26there's 8 billion people
16:28on the planet right now,
16:28supposedly,
16:29but all 8 billion of them
16:31existed in some spiritual state
16:34before the egg and sperm
16:37conceived in a womb.
16:41In a womb.
16:43Egg.
16:44Sperm.
16:45Boom.
16:46Human.
16:48Okay?
16:48Well, some people believe
16:49that that human
16:50existed pre-existently
16:53in the spirit world.
16:58Okay?
16:59The Bible doesn't support
17:00either of those teachings.
17:02That is not true.
17:03You never existed until...
17:04But, here's the thing.
17:15They thought this happened
17:16to this guy
17:17sitting on the curb there.
17:20And they said to Jesus,
17:22did this guy's sins
17:23or did his parents' sins
17:27or his grandparents'
17:28or his generational sin
17:29or bloodline,
17:30whatever it was,
17:31they said that to Jesus.
17:32Did all these people
17:33do this sinning
17:34or this man
17:35that caused this
17:36congenital blindness?
17:38He was born blind.
17:42This happened
17:42on the Sabbath day.
17:44It was outside.
17:45Jesus was passing
17:46by the guy on the street.
17:49Oh, he got in trouble again.
17:50He said,
17:51no, neither.
17:52No, this guy
17:53wasn't sinning in the womb
17:55or in a pre-existing universe.
17:58No, his parents didn't sin.
18:00His grandparents didn't sin.
18:01Nobody was sinning.
18:03You know,
18:03this is essentially
18:05the work of Adam.
18:06We're all born
18:06into a fallen state
18:08and nobody's perfect
18:09and everybody has flaws.
18:13That's the way life is.
18:17He said,
18:18you know what?
18:19Now that I'm here
18:20and now that I found this guy,
18:22let's make this
18:23for the glory of God.
18:24And that's your job
18:25as a born-again Christian
18:26and an ambassador of Christ.
18:28You are a representative of Christ.
18:31You are to
18:32use your situational status
18:34wherever you go
18:35to say to yourself,
18:38hey,
18:39I can turn this
18:41for the glory of God
18:42no matter what
18:42the circumstances are.
18:45May not be anybody's fault.
18:46May not be caused by sin.
18:48Doesn't matter.
18:51And Jesus took the guy
18:52and healed him.
18:53Everybody was utterly
18:54amazed,
18:54but he got in trouble
18:56again because
18:57he did it when?
19:01On the Sabbath.
19:02And religious demons
19:03love the Sabbath.
19:07They are hardcore
19:09celebrators
19:10of the Sabbath.
19:12Demons love
19:13the Sabbath.
19:14And when you violate it,
19:18they love to heap
19:19condemnation on you
19:20like you can't believe.
19:23Jesus is walking around
19:25one day
19:26near the pool
19:27of Bethesda.
19:30And there's
19:31disabled people
19:32everywhere in here.
19:34Everywhere.
19:38And most people
19:39would have thought,
19:40oh,
19:40Jesus went there
19:41to heal everybody
19:42at the pool
19:42of Bethesda.
19:43No.
19:44He went there
19:45to send us
19:46another message
19:47about the Sabbath.
19:52He looks down
19:53at the guy.
19:54He's laying on a cot.
19:55He can't walk.
19:57He'd been there
19:58for years.
19:59Literally.
20:01Nobody will help him.
20:02Nobody cares about him.
20:03Everybody's so used
20:04to seeing him
20:04sit there
20:05disabled
20:07that nobody
20:08even notices
20:09anymore.
20:11This is the horror
20:12of humanity.
20:16When you get used
20:17to a bad situation,
20:20whether it was
20:21caused by you,
20:22your family,
20:23your relative,
20:23demon,
20:24Satan,
20:24whatever,
20:25whoever caused it,
20:26when you've adjusted
20:27to it
20:28and you get used
20:29to it,
20:29that becomes
20:34your nightmare
20:35and you can never
20:38get rid of it.
20:39If you can live
20:40with something,
20:42you've got to
20:44die with it.
20:47If you've reached
20:48the point where
20:48you've got petty
20:49sins,
20:51where you've got
20:51a physical condition,
20:52where you've got
20:53a psychiatric condition
20:54and you've adjusted
20:57to it,
20:59now you can
21:01live with it,
21:02you've got
21:04to die with it.
21:07And so God
21:08will ask you
21:09point blank,
21:10do you want
21:11to be healed?
21:12It sounds like
21:13an insane question,
21:14but some people
21:15do not want
21:16to be healed,
21:17believe it or not.
21:19I have personally
21:19talked to them,
21:21hundreds of them
21:22over the years,
21:23people on
21:23workers'
21:24compensation,
21:26social security,
21:27all techs,
21:28different
21:29government
21:30programs.
21:33They don't,
21:34you know,
21:34they're getting
21:34something out of it.
21:36Some people
21:36are disabled,
21:37they get a lot
21:37of sympathy
21:38out of it,
21:38they get a lot
21:39of attention.
21:41They make
21:41adjustments to
21:42things,
21:43that's the way
21:43human beings
21:44are,
21:44we adjust
21:44to stuff.
21:47But if it's
21:47something bad
21:48and you can
21:48live with it,
21:50you can never
21:51get healed.
21:53And Jesus
21:54asked this guy,
21:54do you want
21:55to be healed?
21:56He didn't say,
21:56do you believe
21:58you can be healed?
21:58He didn't say,
21:59do you think
22:00I can heal
22:00you?
22:01He didn't say,
22:02why aren't
22:04you healed?
22:05He said,
22:06do you want
22:06to be healed?
22:07Some people
22:08don't want
22:08to be healed,
22:09believe it or
22:09not.
22:11We have had,
22:12I don't know
22:12how many,
22:13thousands,
22:14several,
22:14a few
22:15thousands,
22:15something of
22:16people come
22:17to us over
22:18the years
22:18who didn't
22:20want to get
22:20rid of their
22:21demons.
22:21Some people
22:21like their
22:22demons.
22:25Yes,
22:25some people
22:26like their
22:27demons.
22:27I'll tell
22:29you a true
22:29story.
22:30This is kind
22:30of a little
22:32bit nasty
22:33and I'm
22:33going to
22:33get in
22:34trouble for
22:34sharing it,
22:35but many,
22:36many years
22:37ago,
22:37I used to
22:38attend a
22:39prophetic
22:40church,
22:41charismatic
22:42church in
22:42Northwest
22:43Phoenix.
22:44And the
22:45pastor of
22:45this church
22:46was a
22:46very,
22:47very intelligent
22:49man and he
22:50was an
22:50excellent,
22:51I mean,
22:52excellent Bible
22:53teacher.
22:54He had a
22:55beautiful little
22:55church in
22:56Northwest
22:56Phoenix.
22:57I just
22:57loved it
22:58over there
22:58and the
22:59Holy Spirit
23:00was very
23:01active there.
23:03I went there
23:03for a couple
23:04of years.
23:04It was
23:05fantastic.
23:07During that
23:08period of
23:09time I was
23:09going there
23:10and many,
23:10many years
23:11before that,
23:13to my
23:13utter amazement,
23:15I found out
23:15later,
23:16this pastor
23:16was a
23:18serial
23:19adulterer.
23:20this guy
23:23could not
23:24control his
23:25sex drive.
23:28He had
23:29gone through
23:29two
23:30divorces
23:32because he
23:35kept cheating
23:36on his wife
23:37while he was
23:38pastoring this
23:39church.
23:40True story.
23:42Absolute true
23:42story.
23:44And you're
23:46sitting there
23:46going,
23:46wait a minute,
23:47this is
23:49crazy.
23:52What's
23:53happening
23:53here?
23:55And
23:56what's
23:57happening
23:57there was
23:58some
23:59Christians,
24:01they don't
24:03want to get
24:03rid of their
24:04demons.
24:04they don't
24:08want to do
24:08it.
24:10Some people
24:10have less
24:11demons and
24:11they like
24:12them.
24:13For obvious
24:14reasons,
24:14they get a
24:15tremendous
24:15benefit from
24:16them.
24:18Some people
24:19like greed
24:21demons
24:21because they
24:24like making
24:26money,
24:26they cheat
24:27on their
24:27taxes,
24:28they cover
24:29stuff up,
24:31they skim,
24:33they,
24:33you know,
24:33they like
24:35doing that.
24:37And so
24:37some people
24:39come to us
24:40for other
24:40reasons other
24:41than that,
24:41and then we
24:42find out,
24:42oh my gosh,
24:43there's something
24:43blocking this
24:44person's
24:44deliverance,
24:45and we
24:45come to
24:46find out
24:46it's demons
24:47they like.
24:48They like
24:49these demons.
24:50People with
24:51self-pity and
24:52low self-esteem,
24:53they like
24:54their demons
24:54because the
24:55demons always
24:56help them
24:56by giving
24:57them excuses
24:58for their
24:59failures
25:00and their
25:03lack of
25:03service to
25:04God.
25:04They keep
25:04giving them
25:05excuses.
25:07These demons
25:07are expert
25:08witnesses.
25:09They blame
25:09everybody else
25:10for your
25:11problem.
25:13You're not a
25:14spiritual screw-up.
25:15They are.
25:16They don't
25:17understand you.
25:18They're not
25:18focused.
25:19They don't
25:20preach the
25:21word here.
25:22And so they
25:22become church
25:23hoppers looking
25:25for some other
25:25place to get
25:27offended and
25:28not listen.
25:30This happens
25:31all the time.
25:32Some people
25:32like their
25:33demons.
25:34They really
25:35do.
25:36Adolf Hitler
25:37loved being
25:38demon-possessed.
25:39He loved it
25:40because these
25:41demons gave
25:42him emotional
25:43and mental
25:44and physical
25:45power.
25:47Could be
25:48this guy was
25:50a stallion,
25:52a fighter
25:53of staggering
25:54proportions.
25:55Hitler loved
25:57the energy
25:58his demons
25:59gave him.
26:01Some people
26:02like their
26:02demons.
26:03Some people
26:04cannot get
26:05delivered.
26:06They won't
26:06get delivered.
26:08Some people
26:08like gluttony
26:09demons.
26:10They like
26:11them.
26:11They love
26:11them.
26:12Some Christians
26:13are 50
26:14pounds overweight,
26:15100 pounds,
26:16and they're
26:17going,
26:19well, wait a
26:20minute.
26:20I got to
26:20stop eating
26:22certain foods.
26:22I got to
26:23change my
26:23diet.
26:23What are we
26:24talking about?
26:24What are you
26:25talking about,
26:26Willis?
26:26They're not
26:27going to do
26:28it.
26:29Why?
26:29They like
26:30gluttony
26:31demons.
26:32They get
26:33something out
26:34of it.
26:35Demons know
26:35that.
26:36Demons know
26:36us better
26:37than we
26:37know
26:37ourselves.
26:38They know
26:39what you
26:39like,
26:39and they
26:40will give
26:40you what
26:41you like.
26:42Some people
26:43like their
26:44anger
26:46spirits.
26:47Yeah,
26:47because they
26:49get a trigger
26:50and then they
26:51blow up,
26:52and they're
26:53allowed to
26:53vent.
26:54And they're
26:55able to
26:56intimidate
26:56others using
26:57their anger.
26:59So the
27:00demons always
27:01give you
27:01benefits to
27:02certain sins
27:03because they
27:04know you
27:05like it.
27:07That's the
27:07way I
27:08like it.
27:10And that's
27:11what they
27:11give you.
27:13That's exactly
27:13what they
27:14give you.
27:15So this
27:16guy says,
27:17Lord, you
27:18don't understand.
27:19Hey, I've
27:20been coming
27:20here for
27:21decades.
27:21I'm sitting
27:22here.
27:22I try
27:22to get
27:23in.
27:23I can't
27:23get in.
27:24Nobody
27:24will help
27:24me.
27:24And he
27:24gives the
27:25Lord a
27:25series of
27:26excuses.
27:27And in
27:27this
27:28particular
27:28case,
27:29they were
27:30legitimate.
27:31The guy
27:31was telling
27:32him
27:32legitimate
27:32issues.
27:34And Jesus
27:35could tell
27:35he did
27:38want to be
27:38healed.
27:39He could
27:40see it.
27:40and he
27:43told the
27:43guy,
27:44listen,
27:45stand up,
27:46roll up
27:47your cot,
27:48go on
27:48home.
27:50And the
27:50guy,
27:51having no
27:53faith
27:53whatsoever,
27:54heard Jesus
27:55say that,
27:57felt something
27:58in his body,
27:58and then
27:59triggered his
28:00miracle by
28:01stepping out
28:02on his
28:02faith.
28:08And he
28:09got up.
28:10What
28:11happened?
28:12Oh,
28:12here we
28:12go again.
28:13The guy
28:14got jumped
28:15by the
28:17Pharisees,
28:19scribes,
28:19because he
28:20was carrying
28:20his cot
28:21on the
28:23Sabbath
28:23day.
28:26On the
28:26Sabbath.
28:29Can you
28:30imagine
28:30that?
28:31And they
28:32said,
28:32hey,
28:32what are
28:32you doing
28:33carrying
28:33your cot
28:33around,
28:34dude?
28:36He said,
28:36well,
28:37some guy
28:38healed me
28:40and told
28:41me to
28:41pick it
28:41up and
28:41carry it.
28:42So I
28:42did.
28:43They said,
28:44who are you
28:44talking about?
28:46Where's this
28:47guy at?
28:48They couldn't
28:48find him.
28:50It was the
28:50Sabbath day,
28:51and of course
28:51Herod's temple
28:52was like jam
28:53packed.
28:53It was
28:53standing room
28:54only.
28:56And later
28:57on that
28:57day,
28:58on the
28:59Sabbath,
29:00Jesus
29:01found the
29:02guy.
29:04And he
29:05says,
29:05listen,
29:07I
29:10look,
29:11you're
29:11made
29:11whole,
