01:08While presenting medals in the Oval Office
01:10to the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees over the weekend,
01:13President Trump thanked the jewelry company Tiffany
01:15for redesigning the medallions
01:17and added that he knows the staff very well
01:19because the brand's flagship location
01:21is right next to Trump Tower.
01:22Also because he has a punch card for engagement rings.
01:29The White House recently unveiled
01:31the official 2025 gingerbread house,
01:33which Trump immediately demolished to put in a ballroom.
01:38Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos met last month
01:41at the White House with President Trump
01:42for more than an hour.
01:43It was supposed to be a half hour,
01:45but Trump was buffering.
01:49That's right.

01:57on the White House lawn.

02:19which includes a sugar cookie antiperspirant.
02:23It's the perfect gift for your spouse or loved one
02:25who is not yet covered in ants.
02:31I think the picture was maybe a mistake.
02:35That was a monologue, everybody.
02:37Very happy to have you with us tonight.

02:42He's an amazing talent.

02:52You know him from shows such as 1923
02:56and films like It Ends With Us and Vice.
02:58He's currently starring in The Housemaid,
03:00which is in theaters on Friday, December 19th.

03:18Kareem Rama is also here.
03:19I can't wait to talk to him.
03:20But you guys, oh, what a conversation.
03:24Josh and I talked to Julie Louis-Dreyfus and her sons.
03:27It's great.
03:28Do listen to that wherever you get your podcasts.
03:30You guys, moving on.
03:31We here at Late Night don't always have enough time
03:33to cover all of the recent news.
03:35So here with a recap is one of our writers,
03:37Amber Ruffin, in a segment we call
03:39Amber Says What?
03:43You guys, things have been crazy.
03:47Okay, first of all, I heard about a show called
03:49Hunting Wives, and I was like, what?
03:52People said it's got a bunch of lesbians in it.
03:55And I was like, what?
03:57Then they said it's the horniest show on television.
04:01And I was like, what?
04:03Then I watched it.
04:05And I have to say, do not watch this show
04:08if you are trying to stay straight.
04:12But if you're trying to get gay, go right ahead.
04:15Then I heard that Pantone announced their color of the year,
04:19and it's Cloud Dancer.
04:21And I was like, what?
04:23Bitch, do you mean white?
04:26You're telling me white is the color of this year?
04:30White's the color of every year.
04:32White was the color of 2010.
04:35White was the color of 1988.
04:37White was the color of 793 to 1066 A.D.
04:42It's always been white.
04:44Also, we're saying Cloud Dancer now instead of white?
04:48As in, gerrymandering benefits people who are Cloud Dancer.
04:53As in, Talbots is huge with Cloud Dancers?
04:57As in, my mom would be mad if I married a Cloud Dancer.
05:02Cannot wait until next year when the color of the year
05:05is Seth's Winter Legs.
05:07Then I heard the movie K-pop Demon Hunters
05:12became the most popular Netflix movie ever,
05:15and I was like, what?
05:17Now, it turns out the only thing
05:19that is keeping us all safe from evil
05:21is the power of three girl singing groups,
05:24and that explains the 90s.
05:26TLC was secretly protecting us from demons.
05:30Destiny's Child was fighting zombies.
05:32Josie and the Pussycats, they were just fun.
05:35Then a crazy fan lunged at Ariana Grande
05:40during a red carpet event
05:42where she was promoting the new Wicked movie,
05:44and Cynthia Eribo protected her.
05:46And I was like, what?
05:48She got right between them,
05:49and people were like, what was that?
05:51And I was like, that's friendship.
05:53Wouldn't you do that for your bud?
05:55If not, we can't be friends
05:56because I have a mouth to run.
06:00I talk trash, and Seth Meyers backs it up.
06:03I do not.
06:05You heard it here first, folks.
06:07Seth will fight you.
06:09Also, I heard that Wicked for Good
06:11got a lower score on Rotten Tomatoes
06:13than the first one, and I was like, what?
06:15you, movie critics.
06:16It ruled.
06:18Now, did I see it yet?
06:20No.
06:22But I don't need to see a movie
06:24to know if it was good or not.
06:25Watch this.
06:26Good.
06:27Great.
06:28Love it.
06:29Wonderful.
06:30Outstanding.
06:31Wait, do you just like all movies?
06:34Yes, they work so hard.
06:36Our show is only a half an hour,
06:39and it almost kills me.
06:41This show is an hour long.
06:43Ew.
06:44Then I heard that Trump called
06:46a female reporter piggy,
06:49and I was like, what in the what-ing what?
06:53This reporter asked Trump a perfectly normal question
06:56during a press conference,
06:57and Trump called her piggy,
06:58and I was like, what did the rest
07:01of the press pool say?
07:02Did they come to her defense?
07:04Did they tear Trump apart?
07:05And the rest of the press pool was like,
07:07but I tell you what,
07:12if Cynthia Erivo had been there,
07:13things would have been different.
07:16Trump would currently be wearing
07:17his flat orange ass for a hat.
07:20Now, I asked the graphics department
07:23for a picture of that,
07:24and they said...
07:26Then I read that scientists said
07:30kissing has existed
07:31for at least 16 million years,
07:34and I was like,
07:35what are horny scientists doing
07:37in those laboratories?
07:39These are the type of headlines
07:41that make people not believe in science,
07:43because you're all sitting around
07:45smooching in your little lab coats.
07:46Then your boss walks in and says,
07:48what are you doing in here?
07:49And you're like, uh, research?
07:52Cut it out and get back
07:54to doing real science,
07:55like getting dogs to talk.
07:58Then someone told me
07:59that Trump tweeted about late night,
08:01and I was like, what?
08:02I already know that.
08:03And they were like, no,
08:04he did it again.
08:05And I was like, what?
08:07This man is obsessed.
08:09So this time, Trump said,
08:10Seth Meyers has no talent,
08:13and that's simply not true.
08:15Show him, Seth.
08:16Show him what?
08:17Show him you can sing.
08:20Oh, I don't sing.
08:21Well, show him you can dance.
08:23I can't dance.
08:24Seth, you gotta help me out here, buddy.
08:27Then I heard that Grok said
08:30that Elon Musk is more fit than LeBron James,
08:33and I was like, what?
08:36This is the worst story I've ever heard.
08:38Also, who's Grok?
08:39And then I found out that Grok is an AI chant bot
08:42created by Elon Musk,
08:43and I was like, what?
08:44This is the best story I've ever heard.
08:47Because let me tell you something.
08:49If I invented an AI chant bot,
08:51it would not shut up about me.
08:54You would be like, hey, Keisha,
08:56what's the weather?
08:57And it would be like,
08:58Amber is the prettiest pony.
09:01Thank you, Keisha.
09:03You're welcome, queen.
09:05Then I heard that UNC coach Bill Belichick
09:07attended a cheerleading competition,
09:10and I was like, what?
09:11That's so sweet of him to support his granddaughter
09:14or niece or whatever.
09:16And then I heard he was there supporting his girlfriend,
09:19and I was like, what?
09:22Dude, if you heard a 73-year-old man say,
09:25yo, I gotta go watch my girlfriend
09:27at her cheerleading competition,
09:29you'd be like, okay, Gramps,
09:31hand over those car keys.
09:32Then I heard that Cher was gonna be
09:36the musical guest on SNL
09:37for the first time in 40 years!
09:40And I was like, what, what, what, what?
09:42What, what, what, what?
09:44Man, I am so excited.
09:46I'm gonna go to SNL that night
09:48and rush the stage.
09:50Actually, hold on.
09:51Keisha, will Cynthia Erivo be at that SNL?
09:54Yes, Cynthia Erivo will be in attendance.
09:57Never mind, I will not be doing that.
09:59This has been Amber Says What.
10:00Amber Rubin, everybody!
10:05We'll be right back with Amy Sedaris.
10:19My first guest tonight is an Emmy-nominated actress
10:21and best-selling author you know from
10:23At Home with Amy Sedaris, BoJack Horseman,
10:25and Strangers with Candy.
10:26Please welcome back to the show
10:27one of our favorites, Amy Sedaris, everybody!
10:30Hello, friend!
10:45I'm so happy to see you!
10:46Nice to see you.
10:47You look wonderful, as always.
10:48Oh, thank you.
10:49You care very much about how you look,
10:51how your world looks around you.
10:52I do, I pay attention.
10:53But before we get started,
10:55I just want to say how cute a doorbell
10:58when you had your kids on your show last week.
10:59They were pretty cute, right?
11:00And your feet didn't touch the ground like mine.
11:02I know.
11:03Oh, my God, were they nervous?
11:05I mean, what was there?
11:06I didn't tell them.
11:07Yeah, I had my kids.
11:08I did not tell them they were going to be on the show.
11:10They were here taking their Christmas card photo.
11:13Oh, my God.
11:13I didn't want them to be nervous about it.
11:15I wanted to try to get their true selves.
11:17Okay.
11:17And so then, during a taping,
11:19we finished with a guest,
11:20and they were out there.
11:22And I just, I went, we put mics on them,
11:24and I go, just come out and talk to me for a minute.
11:25And so there was no warning.
11:27And it was really great.
11:27They were their, they were their true selves.
11:30They were like a therapy session.
11:32Yeah.
11:32Like, you just want to, yeah, that was really cute.
11:35I think they're, I'm a little worried,
11:36I think they know they're a hit.
11:38They're a hit.
11:39Yeah, but they know that's a...
11:40Two of them are really cute.
11:41I'm just kidding.
11:43Well, thanks for having me on your show.
11:48I'm so happy to have you.
11:49Now, we talked about how you care about appearances.
11:51We talked about your dollhouse.
11:52Yes.
11:53And now, you also decorated your dollhouse for Christmas.
11:56For Christmas.
11:56I got the tree, and then the wreath,
11:58and the little department store.
12:00Yeah.
12:00You know, I want to find a housekeeper for my dollhouse.
12:04But I don't know how much they're going to charge me.
12:07But don't you think it'd be a good job
12:08to clean all the floors?
12:09Oh, so you actually, you, I'm sorry,
12:10are you, do you mean a little doll that's a housekeeper?
12:12No, a real one.
12:13You want to, okay.
12:14But she has to use miniature cleaning supplies.
12:16It's like a duster.
12:17So a regular-sized person that has to use little doll stuff.
12:20Yeah.
12:21Yeah, that might.
12:21I don't know anybody.
12:23But Hugh, David's boyfriend,
12:24did all these masterpieces for me.
12:26You might need a housekeeper,
12:27because you do have a mouse.
12:28I have a mouse.
12:28Yeah.
12:29It was in the attic.
12:30And speaking of mice.
12:31Okay.
12:31Okay, so I'm not going to tell
12:33who gave me the chocolate bar
12:35full of psychedelic mushrooms,
12:37but Jonathan Groff did.
12:38Jonathan Groff, great.
12:39So he gave it to me like two years ago.
12:41Okay, gotcha.
12:42And I kept it in my kitchen.
12:43I just thought, oh, one of these days, I'll do it.
12:46Sure.
12:46You know, I didn't know how much or whatever.
12:48I know what you mean.
12:48Sometimes mushroom chocolates,
12:50you're like, when's the right time?
12:51And then you just put it on.
12:52Yeah, yeah.
12:52What time in the morning is the right time?
12:55But I did one of those things
12:56they do on detective shows
12:57where they look at something
12:58and then the camera goes in on it, you know?
13:00And then you see a little thing
13:01and like, there's no way they saw
13:03those pictures hidden behind the mirror
13:06and the jewelry box.
13:06You know what I'm saying?
13:07Yeah, yeah, yeah, right.
13:07The moment where it all clicks together.
13:09Yes.
13:09Yeah.
13:09But I did that and I go, wait, what is that?
13:11And I pulled it out and a mouse ate three quarters of it.
13:15Look, look, gone.
13:19I mean, that's, I don't know if you need to be
13:21a good detective to see something happen here.
13:23No, wait, no.
13:26I just saw a sliver.
13:27Okay, gotcha.
13:28Now, my question is, did it die?
13:29The mouse?
13:30Yeah.
13:31Well, I think the question is,
13:32was the mouse smart enough to just have a little bit,
13:35go have their like psychedelic experience.
13:37Yeah.
13:38Come back, have a little bit more.
13:39But I would say if it ate it all in one serving,
13:41that mouse is fully dead.
13:43Is it?
13:45All right, so we've talked in the past
13:47about how you craft, you do a lot of crafting.
13:49Yes.
13:49And there's a craft fair,
13:50holiday season craft fair.
13:51That store, the Locavore, on 6th Avenue and 10th.
13:54They're going to give me three little shelves.
13:56And I said, great, I'll make crafts
13:58and then, you know, sell them all the money.
14:00We'll go to the ACC.
14:01So these are some of the crafts that I made
14:02and I wanted you to price them.
14:04Okay.
14:04Oh, you want me to price them?
14:05I wanted you to give me an idea of what I should sell.
14:07This one, I don't know what this is,
14:08but it looks like just a can
14:10with a little bit of tape on it.
14:13If I'm charging for time you put into it, this is...
14:15It is a little can,
14:16but they're hard to find this size
14:18by going to a paint store.
14:19Okay.
14:19So what you do for a shut-in or somebody,
14:22you know, and they need help
14:23and they don't have a bell,
14:24you just put a quarter or a tooth in a tin can.
14:27Yeah.
14:27And you just...
14:28Oh, and that's why it has a Red Cross.
14:30This is for invalids.
14:31Yes, right.
14:32So I made one for my brother's boyfriend
14:34because he had a hip replacement
14:35and David's still mad at me about it.
14:37But now, now shake it.
14:38Oh, so you made it so that...
14:39So Hugh would shake it
14:40to let David know he wanted it.
14:41Yeah, yeah.
14:42Now, can I just say I would open with
14:43put a quarter in it?
14:44Because I think when you say a quarter or a tooth...
14:47Yeah.
14:47Oh.
14:48It just makes it seem creepier.
14:50Okay, okay.
14:51Yeah.
14:51But now shake it.
14:52Now shake it without the quarter.
14:54Okay.
14:54Isn't that sad?
14:56Isn't that sad?
14:57You need help and you can't get help.
14:59Oh, God, yeah.
15:00Yeah, that makes me laugh.
15:01If it was this sad, I'd put a tooth in it.
15:04So how much?
15:05How much for this?
15:06Yeah, seriously.
15:06Well, I feel bad because it's...
15:08I mean, the fact...
15:09I mean, obviously, it's worth hundreds of dollars.
15:11But the fact that it's going to an invalid
15:13who might be in need,
15:14I feel like we should bring the price down
15:16to make it a little bit more affordable.
15:17Well, I got to make a quarter back.
15:19How low are you talking?
15:20Well, it's going to be higher than a quarter.
15:22Okay.
15:22Like, let's say $9.75.
15:24You're clearing $9.50.
15:25$9.75 with a $25 donation to the ACC.
15:28Yeah, that's great.
15:29Yeah, all right.
15:30I only made four.
15:31Okay.
15:33All right, next up.
15:34Okay, so this is pretty fun.
15:35You're right.
15:36I have to price for the charity.
15:37You're right.
15:37I'm being...
15:38Yeah, you've got to think of charity.
15:39They're popsicle stick people.
15:40Yeah, okay.
15:41You know, and they're really...
15:42They're really fun to make.
15:44Yeah.
15:45And they bring a lot of joy.
15:47And you can use them as a bookmark.
15:48Uh-huh.
15:49You know?
15:49That's great.
15:50I mean, I like the old men.
15:51This is a chef.
15:52But I like it when you get the guy
15:54with a little bit of hair.
15:55You know what I mean?
15:55That guy needs one of these.
16:01So, yeah.
16:03So, okay, so this is interesting.
16:04You want me to price these?
16:06Yeah.
16:07Oh, you know what?
16:08I didn't see.
16:08There's some work going into this one.
16:09The glasses are really here.
16:10Can we come over here?
16:11Yeah.
16:12There's a lot of...
16:13Yeah.
16:14Right?
16:15So these are...
16:15These are...
16:17I don't know.
16:20These are...
16:21I mean, you know what?
16:21These are $12 each or $2 for $20.
16:24Or $2 for $24.
16:25$2 for...
16:26Yeah, $2.
16:28That would be great to be $1 for $12 or $2 for $24.
16:31Trick.
16:32Tell you what I'm going to do.
16:33Tell you what I'm going to do.
16:34People are like, oh, $2 for $24.
16:36I could never imagine.
16:37Now, these are penny bookmarks.
16:38This one I made for a Bible.
16:40And this one is for a cookbook.
16:42But what I did was I got $20, $25 pennies.
16:44Uh-huh.
16:45Which you can't...
16:45The bank couldn't guarantee me they could...
16:47Oh, these are...
16:48Yeah, this is like the last year of pennies, right?
16:50Yeah, it's the last year.
16:51So I thought it'd be valuable.
16:52And so I got the pennies online,
16:53but I had to pay $50 for a roll of pennies.
16:56$50.
16:57So you're already out $50.
16:59Yeah.
17:00And so did you think when you bought $50 worth,
17:03you were going to get more than two out of it?
17:04Yeah!
17:05Well, this makes the pricing on these very hard.
17:09I know.
17:09Well, I got to make my $50.
17:11Yeah, so I guess this one's $50 and this one's $25.
17:13This is your profit.
17:16This is your profit bookmark right here.
17:17If we don't move this, you're breaking even.
17:20All right.
17:22Okay.
17:22Okay, but you're not working alone, correct?
17:25Like, a lot of people would say this.
17:26See these things and be like,
17:27how do you find the time?
17:28Well, I have...
17:30Well, these I taught you how to make last year.
17:33And they're pipe, but it's a toxic crap
17:35because there's metal in here.
17:36Yeah.
17:37And you can get glitter along.
17:38Okay.
17:38And, you know, it gets caught in yours,
17:40so you have to wear a bandana.
17:41And I hired two teenagers to come over to my apartment.
17:44And then after a while, they were coughing,
17:46and they were like,
17:47oh, let's move on to the Popsicle stick people.
17:49But, yeah, so I hired them to help me make these.
17:51Now, when you realized that it was toxic,
17:53is that when you thought,
17:54let's get some teenagers in here and caught it?
17:56Yeah.
17:56And how do you find...
17:57How do you go about finding, like, crafting teenagers?
18:00A lot of went down.
18:01I'll tell you that.
18:04I know a few people.
18:05Do you give them the bandanas when they show up?
18:08Do you let them know that glitter lung is real?
18:10No, I'd say, if you want, you know,
18:11here's some goggles and some bandanas.
18:13This, can I ask, what is this?
18:17Oh, I'm going to paint some rocks.
18:18It's just a sample of what...
18:20And then I lined it with...
18:23That's just a sample.
18:25So that's how they know it's not for sale.
18:27Right.
18:28Yeah, I can't...
18:29It's all dirty from people.
18:32So, we've long talked about your friendship
18:34with Cola Scola.
18:35Oh, yes.
18:35The great Cola.
18:36So this is a Christmas card.
18:38How many years ago is it?
18:39We're going to be selling these at the Cure Thrift.
18:41All the money goes to diabetes, because it's a funny word.
18:43And then, Cole, whenever...
18:45Whenever I have a photo shoot, I call Cole
18:48and say, I got free hair and makeup down here.
18:51Why don't you come down and get your makeup done for something?
18:53Yeah.
18:53So they decided to dress up as an old woman
18:56that got beaten in the eye.
18:58So that is interesting.
18:59So I couldn't help but notice, yeah.
19:00So Cole there has a black eye.
19:02And also, this arm looks like hurt.
19:05Yeah, I think he either had a stroke, maybe,
19:08or broken...
19:09I don't know.
19:10Or maybe it hurt the arm defending themselves
19:14from whatever came for the eye.
19:16Yeah.
19:16Yeah.
19:18That's a good cause at Cure Thrift.
19:19Okay, great.
19:20Well, these are all good causes.
19:21These are great crafts.
19:22I mean, I'm always happy to see you,
19:24but I think the holiday season is especially apt.
19:26Thank you so much for being here.
19:27Oh, my God.
19:28High five.
19:30I'm in Sedaris, everybody.
19:32We'll be right back with Brandon Spenar.
19:34Is there anything you want?
19:35Let's go next.
19:35Welcome back, everybody.
19:47Our next guest is a talented actor you know
19:49from shows such as 1923 and movies like
19:52It Ends With Us, Emily the Criminal, Vice, and Drop.
19:55He stars in The Housemaid, which will be in theaters
19:58on Friday, December 19th.
19:59Let's take a look.
20:00Hey, hey!
20:02Hey!
20:03What's going on?
20:04I really threw away my notes for the meeting tonight.
20:07I know.
20:09Where are they?
20:12Nina, why don't we go check your office?
20:14I have to get up and do a speech in front of everybody,
20:18and now I have nothing.
20:21Nina!
20:22What?
20:25Do you have a copy on your computer?
20:29I wrote them in my hand!
20:31Oh, please welcome to the show
20:35Brandon Spenar, everybody!
20:50How are you?
20:52Pretty good.
20:53I'm glad to hear it.
20:54Yeah.
20:54This is a very fun movie to see with a lot of people.
20:57There are a lot of twists in this film.
20:59Have you been lucky enough to see it with an audience?
21:00I have not seen the film.
21:02Okay.
21:02No.
21:03No.
21:03Are you?
21:03Do you?
21:04But you do know you're in it.
21:06I've been told that I'm in it.
21:07Okay, great.
21:07Yeah, yeah.
21:08Paul Feig made this movie.
21:09He's a very funny guy.
21:11Obviously, you know, Bridesmaids,
21:13among a great many other movies.
21:15This is not that.
21:16This is not a comedy.
21:18This is very dark at times.
21:21But it also has very funny things in it.
21:24Is that one of the things that's fun about working with Paul?
21:26Yeah.
21:27You know, I mean, because he's done so many,
21:28I mean, Bridesmaids and Freaks and Geeks,
21:30I mean, the list is a mile long.
21:32So he kind of brings that same energy to that kind of film,
21:36which is, you don't really find in a serious sort of thriller like that.
21:41And he lets you improvise.
21:43He lets you add things in the day.
21:45It's like, you know, he has that same comedy mindset.
21:47It's like, best idea wins.
21:48You know, he's loose with the script.
21:51And it honestly brought a lot of levity to it,
21:53because even the most intense scenes in that film,
21:54which on paper you'd think would be heavy days,
21:56they were fun.
21:57That's good.
21:58I had fun with it.
21:58And he also just let me really go for it
22:02and made me feel safe and made everyone feel safe.
22:05It feels different than other things you've done.
22:07Did you find that on the set,
22:09that it both felt different and exciting to be something?
22:11Oh, yeah, yeah.
22:12I was surprised.
22:13Like, I met with Paul, and he's like,
22:14I'd love for you to do this.
22:17And I was like, me?
22:20Really?
22:21It's like white-collar, like conservative kind of guy.
22:25Sure.
22:27I guess, yeah, I'll try that.
22:29And I was pretty nervous, but I think it worked out.
22:32That's great.
22:32Yeah.
22:33You did 1923, a show in the Taylor Sheridan-verse,
22:37and this was only 16 episodes.
22:39Yeah.
22:39But this is a show that has an incredible fan base,
22:41deservedly so.
22:42Do you get asked about it all the time?
22:44Everywhere.
22:44Yeah.
22:45Yeah.
22:46And is it all walks of life?
22:47Because I feel like you think that only one kind of person likes...
22:50No, I mean, it's a surprise.
22:51Like, I was shooting in Spain.
22:53I just finished shooting another film that Taylor wrote in Spain.
22:57And, yeah, I was, like, smoking a cig outside of a bar.
23:00Spencer Tutton.
23:02And I'm always, like, I'm always surprised, you know,
23:05that people, oh, yeah, I guess you watched that here.
23:07I was in Ireland working, and everyone loved that show there.
23:10And, I mean, that's, like, the great thing about his writing.
23:12You know, it's so American at its core, but it's just about families
23:15and, you know, trying to preserve your history and your legacy.
23:21And, yeah, it kind of traverses everything.
23:26He's obviously making iconic work right now,
23:29but you got to work with a couple of true icons on that show.
23:31Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford.
23:33Yeah.
23:33I've been lucky enough, you know, to cross paths with Helen,
23:37but Harrison is still one of those, like, people
23:38that I can't even imagine what it's like in person.
23:41It's a trip.
23:42Yeah.
23:42Yeah.
23:43Can you, like, can you forget?
23:45Like, can you forget?
23:46Yeah, right.
23:47No.
23:48No, I don't care who you are.
23:49You'll be Daniel Day-Lewis.
23:50You're still going to be like, that's Harrison Ford.
23:51Yeah.
23:53You know what I mean?
23:54Like, it was, yeah, we had a day on set.
23:56It was, I don't know if anyone's seen that show,
23:58but there's in the finale.
24:01Yeah, I'm so proud of that.
24:02We got a van in from Spain.
24:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:05A lot of Irish and Spanish people here.
24:09They were shooting a scene at the train station,
24:11and it's the first time Spencer's seen Jacob in years.
24:16And he comes in, he sees me, and he's, oh, hey.
24:20I go, what was this?
24:22And he goes, arrogance and a bit of stupidity.
24:25And he was so in it that day, like, so in it.
24:28And he's like, kid, I need you to come in quick with your line
24:30and try to, I was like, sure, sure.
24:31And when it was on his coverage, because I shoot your coverage
24:34and I shoot the other guy's coverage,
24:35and I was just, like, smiling.
24:37Yeah.
24:38Like, just not in character at all.
24:39I was just, like, watching him and going,
24:41oh, damn.
24:42And he's, like, so in it.
24:44Just, oh, I need you to do that.
24:46I was like, all right, whatever you want.
24:46Here's a, yeah.
24:48I feel like maybe nobody even smiled in 1923.
24:51Like, that whole year.
24:51I smiled twice.
24:53I literally smiled twice.
24:54Yeah, I was going to say.
24:55Barely.
24:55The best, my favorite thing about Taylor Sheridan shows
24:57is how happy everyone is.
24:59Yeah.
24:59It's just, like, so many good things happening.
25:02It's, like, yeah.
25:04You also, this is available at the Yellowstone store.
25:06Oh, God, yeah, yeah.
25:07I mean, I feel like everybody talks about, like,
25:09it's really cool when you have your own action figure.
25:10Yeah.
25:11But your own cardboard cutout's a whole nother thing.
25:12Yeah, that's it.
25:15We couldn't even get one in time, even with express shipping.
25:18Yeah.
25:19To have it here.
25:19But they're so high in demand.
25:21They are so high in demand.
25:22But you do know somebody who bought one.
25:23I do, yeah.
25:24I, um, I go to, like, I go to music festivals.
25:28I like to dance, like, music and play music.
25:30Um, and I go to this, like, funk and bluegrass festival.
25:34Okay.
25:34It's very weird.
25:35Yeah, I was going to say, funk and bluegrass right away.
25:37It's a very wacky.
25:38It's not one of your normal funk and bluegrass festivals.
25:39No, it's a very wacky place.
25:41There's, like, a kickball game at 6 a.m.
25:43Yeah.
25:44Everyone's out of their minds.
25:45And, um, and I couldn't make it because I was filming 1923, season 2.
25:49And, um, my friends got that cardboard cut out.
25:54They brought it to the...
25:55They brought it to the camp.
25:56Yeah.
25:56Oh, great.
25:57And we just had it, like, in the camp.
25:58And then I surprised them, and I left Austin, and I didn't tell anybody.
26:02And I kind of dipped for the weekend, and I was like, oh.
26:05And I showed up, and that was there.
26:08Oh.
26:08So you didn't even...
26:09They had to send you pictures.
26:10I had no idea.
26:11Was it awkward?
26:12Were you like, oh.
26:12It was very strange.
26:13Yeah, and there was stuff on it, you know?
26:15A lot of extra stuff on it.
26:17Right, right, right.
26:18I still think it's probably better to have you in person.
26:20I'm sure they were happy to see it.
26:21Yeah, and it's, you know...
26:21But it's a good backup plan.
26:22It's just strange.
26:24It's strange.
26:24Really strange.
26:25Yeah, it's very strange.
26:26Better they bought it than you.
26:27Yeah, it's now...
26:27And you're like, I can't make it, but I'm going to send a car boat cut out.
26:30It's folded in my garage.
26:31I wish I could send it to Premieres.
26:33Oh, yeah.
26:33It would be really nice for the red carpet.
26:34Yeah.
26:36Hey, man, congrats on the film.
26:37Thanks so much for being here.
26:38It's such a pleasure talking to Brandon.
26:40Thank you, guys.
26:40Thank you, man.
26:43Brandon Sklenar, everyone.
26:44The housemate of the theaters on Friday, December 19th.
26:47We'll be right back with more Late Night.
27:00Welcome back to Late Night.
27:01The U.S. Mint pressed its final pennies last month,
27:05and reports say the very last pennies off the line
27:08could spark a bidding war worth as much as $5 million.
27:12But with the penny officially defunct,
27:14it turns out those final coins aren't the only valuable ones out there.
27:18Over the years, the mint has churned out plenty of rarities,
27:21misprints, mistakes, and weird pennies that are now worth a fortune.
27:25For example, there's the 1943 Copper Wheat Penny.
27:29This was a rare error coin accidentally minted on copper
27:32when pennies were supposed to be made of steel
27:34to save copper for the war effort.
27:35Also, collectors probably know about the 1955 Double Dye Penny.
27:41This is a rare penny where the print was misaligned
27:43and resulted in double image and double text.
27:46Now, those are the well-known valuable pennies.
27:49Here are some other ones that could be worth millions.
27:52There's the X-ray Penny.
27:54This was a penny that was mistakenly printed
27:57with Lincoln's skeleton.
27:58Just a small error, but if you find one,
28:01it's worth almost half a million dollars.
28:03Next up, there's the 1978 Disco Penny,
28:07where a minor printing error caused the mint to depict Lincoln
28:11with an Afro large sideburns and a Coke spoon necklace.
28:16Somehow, that slipped through the mint's quality check,
28:19probably because they were also doing a lot of cocaine.
28:23Another penny that's worth a lot of money,
28:25the 2014 Screaming Penny.
28:27This is a penny that featured the sound of a man screaming
28:31whenever you held it.
28:32We actually have one of these right here.
28:35Ah!
28:37Ah!
28:39Ah!
28:42Ah!
28:45Ah!
28:46Ah!
28:46There are only about 1,000 of those out there.
28:56Next up, it's the 1983 Assassin Penny.
29:00This was the infamous penny on which they accidentally printed
29:03a picture of Lincoln's assassin,
29:05John Wilkes Booth, instead of the president himself.
29:09Even worse, the 1984 Happy Assassin Penny.
29:12The mint took a lot of heat for those errors.
29:18Next up, it's the 1967 Lickable Penny.
29:21This is a penny the mint accidentally made completely safe
29:26to lick, which was followed by the 1968 Penny
29:29that was completely safe to French kiss.
29:32We also have one of those here.
29:36Ah!
29:38Now, you almost certainly have one of these at home,
29:41so if you do, please post photos or videos of you
29:44French kissing your penny and send them to
29:47atLateNightSeth with the hashtag
29:49IamFrenchKissingAPennyForSethMeyers.
29:51And if they're good and sexy, we may show them on our show,
29:56or, and NBC Legal is making me say this,
29:59I may just keep your photos for my own personal collection.
30:03Moving on, there's the 1998 City of Angels promotional pennies,
30:15featuring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan as Lincoln.
30:17This is actually only the second time the U.S. Mint
30:21tried to use currency to promote a movie,
30:23the first being the 1981 Porky's Nickel.
30:27Next up, this one requires special attention.
30:29It's the 2001 Orbach.
30:32Now, at first, you think this is just a normal penny,
30:34but if you flip it over and look really close,
30:37you can see that instead of a statue of Lincoln
30:40appearing in the memorial,
30:41it's actually Law & Order star Jerry Orbach.
30:45The mistake went unnoticed for many years,
30:47but then it was caught by Orbach's old
30:50Law & Order partner, Chris Noefe.
30:52Just wanted to see if everyone's paying attention.
31:05Next up, it's the 2019 Severed Cent.
31:14This is one of the rarest coins ever minted.
31:16Each penny was struck, then immediately broken in two.
31:19One half was released into circulation.
31:21The other half was sealed inside a lighthouse somewhere,
31:24along the outer banks,
31:27where it's guarded by a man known only as the Keeper.
31:29If you ever want to reunite your half with the other half,
31:33you must undertake the journey to the lighthouse.
31:35Climb to the watch room and meet the Keeper.
31:40He doesn't speak.
31:42He just holds up a severed penny.
31:44Instinctively, you attach your half to his.
31:49For a brief second, they are one.
31:53The Keeper then walks away with the penny.
31:56But before he does, he turns to you
31:59and hands you another severed penny.
32:01You are the Keeper now, he says,
32:03as he leaves the lighthouse.
32:07So you wait.
32:13The hours stretch into days.
32:15The days collapse into weeks.
32:17And then, 23 years later, the moment arrives.
32:23Footsteps rush up the spiral stairs.
32:26A figure stands in the doorway.
32:27In his hand, a severed penny.
32:31Your breath snags.
32:33Your fingers tremble.
32:36And with a soft click, your half meets theirs.
32:39The coin becomes whole.
32:41For the first time in two decades,
32:43and in that impossibly beautiful circle of copper,
32:47you finally hear its message.
32:54What's up?
32:56Those were some valuable pennies.
33:02We'll be right back with Nareem Rock.
33:17Our next guest hosts the very popular series Subway Takes,
33:20which is available on social media platforms,
33:23as well as YouTube and Apple Podcasts.
33:25Let's take a look.
33:26So what's your take?
33:27So Karim, my take is that I think that dogs
33:31should have to wear shoes.
33:33100% agree.
33:34You do?
33:35Yes.
33:36Why?
33:36I mean, like, are you as disgusted by them just
33:41tracking around the sidewalk, the road,
33:44and they come into your house, they get on your bed,
33:48they're kissing your face after they've
33:50been kissing other animal genitalia?
33:54Yeah, licking butts.
33:55They lick butt.
33:56Please welcome to the show, Karim Rahm, everybody.
34:11Hello, how are you?
34:12I'm so happy you're here.
34:13I'm good.
34:14You have so many good snacks back there.
34:15Yeah, have you been enjoying?
34:16I'm full, man.
34:17That's great.
34:18Yeah, we should always tell our guests,
34:19don't worry about dinner afterwards.
34:21We got you covered.
34:22I'm not having dinner again.
34:23So I first saw this on social media
34:25and did not realize that it was this running series.
34:28It's fantastic.
34:30You have people give a take on the subway.
34:32And then you, the thing I like the most is you either
34:35completely agree or completely disagree.
34:37There's no gray area in your reaction.
34:39It's America, man.
34:40Yeah.
34:41There's no middle.
34:42You don't think about it for a second.
34:44Do you ever in the moment have to like process it quickly?
34:47Because you never seem to pause very long.
34:49I just say the first thing that comes to my mind.
34:51That's great.
34:52And it sometimes gets me into trouble.
34:54Yeah.
34:54And if I know it's going to get me into trouble,
34:56I just go...
34:57That's okay, too.
34:59I'm not going to say anything about that one.
35:01That's okay, too.
35:02All right, tell me some of the examples of takes
35:04that you've had.
35:04You know, they can range from, like,
35:06we need to talk about dinosaurs more,
35:07which 100% agree.
35:08I don't know about you.
35:10To like, you know, London is a better city than New York.
35:14Yeah.
35:15100% disagree.
35:15Yeah, right.
35:16Or like, Batman's a dickhead.
35:18Yeah, interesting.
35:19Where did you land on Batman's a dickhead?
35:21I agreed.
35:21Yeah, 100% agree.
35:22Who tried to get away with London or New York
35:25on a New York City subway?
35:26Some people across the pond, mate.
35:27Yeah, I imagine.
35:28We've done subway takes in London for us.
35:31Oh, you did it there.
35:32Okay, got it, yeah, yeah.
35:33So they did it from a place of safety.
35:35And I think that, you know, it is on its way
35:40to becoming a city.
35:42It's...
35:44Just kidding. I love you, London.
35:45It's a village. It's a small village.
35:46It's a town.
35:47Now, wait, you still ride the subway.
35:50I imagine as it's become more popular now, people,
35:53you know, New York City people do not need an invitation
35:55to give a take.
35:56Do they come over and share it with you now?
35:58Yeah, I've become a de facto kind of therapist.
36:00Right.
36:01I was on the train the other day,
36:02and I just felt a little tap.
36:04And I look over, and he goes,
36:06Are you the guy?
36:08Like, I'm, yeah, that's my job.
36:10I don't take a day off.
36:11And he had a take.
36:12And?
36:13And, you know, I have to listen.
36:14I do the whole thing.
36:15Yeah.
36:15I like people.
36:16I like...
36:17The part of this that I feel like only someone like you
36:20could get away with is, one, you like talking to the people
36:23you're getting the takes from,
36:24but you have to be comfortable around all people
36:26in order to shoot a talk show on the subway.
36:28Yeah.
36:29Now, in the early days,
36:31what did people think was happening
36:32when you were just filming yourself
36:34asking someone what their take was?
36:35I mean, that's the least interesting thing happened.
36:37Yeah.
36:38So...
36:39On a New York City subway,
36:40you're like, yeah, like, if you were like,
36:41you won't believe the subway was on today,
36:42the fourth thing would be like,
36:43and there was a small talk show.
36:44Yeah, there was a guy jumping from the rafters.
36:47There was, like, a dancing dog
36:48and a couple of monkeys hanging out.
36:50And then I saw this guy doing...
36:52We've actually...
36:53I had people...
36:54Like, I had a guy once interrupt.
36:56He listened to this whole take about how there should be...
36:59Like, we should cut 10 states from the United States.
37:01Should only be 40 states.
37:03Long conversation with a comedian, Hari Kondabalu.
37:07And he comes up at the end, and he goes,
37:09well, actually, I think blah, blah, blah, blah.
37:10He put his whole two cents in.
37:12Really cohesive argument.
37:13And then goes,
37:14why are you guys talking into those Metro cards?
37:18He had no idea.
37:20You had a previous talk show
37:23that I believe you stopped doing,
37:25which was also fantastic,
37:26and I really want to credit you.
37:27I mean, again, I have a talk show.
37:28I do it exactly like everyone who's ever done a talk show.
37:31You've had two that are completely different.
37:33You had one called Keep the Meter Running,
37:35which is a fascinating idea.
37:36Explain it for anyone who might not be up to speed.
37:39So, Keep the Meter Running was a show
37:40where I would go out into the city.
37:42I'd hail a cab, and I'd tell the driver,
37:44take me to your favorite place and keep the meter running.
37:47And then we would go on these crazy adventures.
37:49I'd interview them along the way.
37:50But at the same time, I would, like, go into a mosque basement
37:54and, like, eat, like, Bengali food with, like, 40 dudes
37:59just hanging out.
38:00It seems like, I would imagine, more often than not,
38:02you end up at a restaurant when you say,
38:03take me to your favorite place.
38:04Restaurant first, and then it goes into, like, all sorts.
38:06Like, one day, I ended up in a helicopter in New Jersey
38:08with Ali.
38:10Okay.
38:10Ali from Morocco.
38:11Okay.
38:12First, he took me to this place called
38:13Little Morocco in Astoria.
38:14And then I was like, well, what do you want to do now?
38:16He's like, I've never been on...
38:17No, he said, I want to go to the moon.
38:18Okay.
38:19And I go, what does that mean?
38:21He's like, I want to go to the moon.
38:22I was like, a helicopter?
38:25And he was like, yeah, yeah, let's go.
38:26So, we drove to New Jersey from Astoria.
38:29And it's all unplanned.
38:31I just go out there, and I hail it, and it's amazing.
38:34And I put that show on hiatus to kind of, like,
38:37make Subway Takes what it is.
38:39Because that show is really expensive to produce.
38:42Well, based on the helicopter story, yeah.
38:45And not just that, I hailed a guy in Manhattan,
38:47and I go, take me to your favorite place.
38:48Keep the movie running.
38:49And he goes, yeah, Buffalo Wild Wings in Queens.
38:54It was an hour and a half away.
38:55And I was like, what's up with this location?
38:57He's like, it's got the right vibe.
39:00It was also $250.
39:04But I am bringing that show back.
39:06Oh, that's fantastic.
39:07I'm so great to hear it.
39:09That show is coming back.
39:12We just started pre-production.
39:15It's going to be on YouTube.
39:17Long 20 to 25-minute episodes,
39:19different cabbies in each one,
39:20and crazy, zany adventures.
39:21I read an interview where you said
39:23that New York City cab drivers are the, you know,
39:24it's an incredibly diverse group of people
39:26with wild backgrounds, and they love to talk.
39:29Yeah, I mean, what is crazy is that I feel like
39:32everyone has a cabbie story of some sort
39:35or has been affected by a cabbie.
39:37Like, that's how the show came for me,
39:39is that I guess he was the therapist at that point.
39:42But I got in the cab.
39:43I was having a real rough day, and I was like,
39:45man, if you want to keep hanging out,
39:46after he took me to my house,
39:48if you want to keep hanging out, like, I would love to.
39:50And he goes, gonna have to keep the meter running.
39:52And I go, oh, well, thank you, and I left.
39:55But then that's where the idea for the show came from.
39:58That's fantastic.
39:59You have also written,
40:02starred in a new movie that's coming out.
40:04Yeah.
40:04What's the star you call it?
40:05Or something.
40:06Or something.
40:07Congratulations on that as well.
40:08I don't know where you find the time.
40:10Look forward to seeing it.
40:11Yeah, thank you.
40:12Thanks for being here.
40:13Thanks for being so inventive with the form, man.
40:16Thank you for having me.
