00:36
Watering the Boneyard Seed, Luigi's Mansion
00:44
The first Luigi's Mansion lets you put your green thumb skills to the test with this cheeky
00:49
secret.
00:50
In the boneyard area of the mansion, you can find a seed in a patch of garden soil.
00:54
Watering this seed with the poltergust water element feature at certain intervals will
00:58
eventually produce a flower that bursts with coins, gold bars, bills, and most importantly,
01:03
a coveted gold diamond.
01:05
To ensure the seed doesn't wither and die, make sure Luigi waters it right away.
01:10
There's a handy spigot next to the garden plot, or you can just use the water from the
01:13
kitchen tap.
01:14
Then simply water the plant after both the Bogmire and Booloss's boss fights.
01:19
Doing so in this order will fully grow the flower so you can acquire the secret gold
01:23
diamond.
01:29
The Map From The First Game, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
01:38
As a way to fondly remember his spooky exploits from the first Luigi's Mansion on the Nintendo
01:43
GameCube, there's a super easy to miss background secret in the opening of Dark Moon.
01:48
As Luigi sleeps on his cozy chair, we are able to see a map hanging on the wall behind
01:53
him.
01:54
This map looks nearly identical to the map Luigi uses during the opening of the OG Luigi's
01:59
Mansion.
02:00
It's such a brief yet special snippet that not only pays homage to the first title, but
02:04
ensures they are connected together.
02:14
The Mario Theme Song, Luigi's Mansion 3
02:21
There's a fun little musical secret right at the start of Luigi's Mansion 3 that many
02:25
players will likely miss.
02:27
Right after the opening cutscene when you first control Luigi as he steps foot into
02:31
the Last Resort Hotel, head over to the immediate left side of the lobby where Mario is eyeing
02:36
the oodles of cakes, sweets, and plenty of goodies.
02:39
As soon as you walk up to Mario and Polterpup, the background music dynamically changes to
02:44
a fun version of the iconic Mario theme music.
02:50
However, once you walk away from this specific area, the music seamlessly switches back to
02:57
the regular lobby music.
03:07
The Unique, Clear Game Boy Horror, Luigi's Mansion
03:18
While the fact that Luigi's handheld device in Luigi's Mansion is modeled after a Game
03:22
Boy Color is certainly no secret, did you know that this clear version of the real thing
03:26
was only a Japan exclusive?
03:29
Many players might just assume the clear case Game Boy Horror was a specific design choice
03:33
just for the game, however this isn't the case.
03:36
This special clear version that shows up in the game can actually be used in real life
03:40
if you're able to get your hands on one nowadays.
03:42
Of course, it's not called the Game Boy Horror in real life, although that would be
03:46
quite special indeed.
03:54
The GameCube Home Screen Cube, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
03:57
Okay, this one is so incredibly rare, with most players likely never even seeing it,
04:09
and especially since this easter egg can only be witnessed when Luigi gets pixelated by
04:14
Professor E. Gadd.
04:17
Not only was the GameCube iconic for its cube-shaped design and handy carrying handle, it also
04:22
featured a shiftable cube at the home screen where you can change console settings, fiddle
04:26
with your memory card, start a new game, etc.
04:29
Interestingly, Dark Moon features a super easy to miss nod to this GameCube cube.
04:34
At certain very rare intervals when Luigi gets pixelated, a large cube can be seen moving
04:39
and floating alongside the other pixel bits of Luigi.
04:42
It's nearly identical to the one from the GameCube menu.
04:51
The Barbershop Ghosts, Luigi's Mansion 3 Within the Hotel Shops area of Luigi's
05:02
Mansion 3, you might just stumble across the barbershop.
05:06
After entering the barbershop by turning the scissors above with both Luigi and Gooigi,
05:10
you can uncover two hidden gold ghosts.
05:13
If you weren't paying attention when going into the barbershop, you might have just missed
05:16
the floating scissors with gold auras.
05:19
Well, go ahead and use the poltergust to spin the two barber chairs a bunch of times.
05:23
Eventually, a couple of goofy gold ghosts will appear for you to tussle with.
05:27
Once defeated, you get some nice little coins and goodies from them.
05:37
Mousehole Treasure Room, Luigi's Mansion
05:48
For that special Midas touch, check out the mousehole hidden treasure room that can be
05:52
accessed via the butler's room in the southwest part of the mansion.
05:56
On the right side of the wall, hidden behind some, I guess what look like to be toilet
06:00
paper rolls, there's a sneaky little mousehole that you can see with the Game Boy Horror.
06:04
Once you get sucked into this hidden room, you are greeted by a bevy of ornate chests.
06:09
Although the lights don't seem to be on, yep, don't expect the gold bars, gems, coins,
06:13
and bills to come for free here.
06:15
You must defeat a handful of ghosts in the room along with some gold bats.
06:19
After clearing out the room, the chandelier lights up and you are free to grab all the
06:23
goodies to your heart's content.
06:25
This lavish treasure room is well worth a visit even if the characters in the paintings
06:29
on the pack wall look like they are staring straight into Luigi's soul.
06:40
This music sounds familiar, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.
06:52
The elevator that leads to the giant spider boss in Gloomy Manor plays a unique little
06:57
tune that anyone who ever played Mario Strikers Charge from the Wii will likely remember.
07:02
In the pause menu for Mario Strikers Charge, there's some background music that essentially
07:06
sounds like music you would actually hear in an elevator.
07:19
Well Nintendo clearly thought that too, so when they created this super short elevator
07:24
section in Gloomy Manor, they added this music.
07:27
It's catchy, relaxing, jazzy, and perfectly Nintendo.
07:40
Inspiration from The Shining, Luigi's Mansion 3.
07:51
Now you'd be forgiven for missing this subtle nod to the movie version adaptation of Stephen
07:56
King's The Shining, however horror buffs likely noticed how the long main hallway rug
08:01
on the 11th floor in The Last Resort Hotel looks eerily similar to the carpet found in
08:06
the Overlook Hotel in the aforementioned movie, especially during the scene where Danny is
08:11
playing on the carpet.
08:20
The geometric mind-bending patter is spot on in Luigi's Mansion 3, clearly paying loving
08:25
homage to The Shining.
08:32
It's Pizza Time Baby, Luigi's Mansion 3.
08:43
Who doesn't love a good pizza?
08:45
Or three, am I right?
08:46
Well Mario clearly chowed down on some yummy pizzas if the discarded pizza boxes are anything
08:51
to go by in his hotel room, room 502 to be exact, in Luigi's Mansion 3's RIP Suites
08:57
area.
08:58
Interestingly, the pizza boxes all state since 1983 on the sides of them.
09:03
This awesome little secret nugget of Mario lore just so happens to be the year Mario
09:07
made his star-studded debut in the form of Mario Bros.
