00:00Tonight in the NBA, 6 o'clock start, Miami Heat-Orlando Magic,
00:03slight favorites of the Miami Heat on the road,
00:05and a total, Joe, of 234.5.
00:07What's your spread line here?
00:09NBA Cup action, quarterfinal action in Orlando.
00:13And listen, these two teams have already played one of each other twice this year,
00:18and Miami lost both by a combined four points.
00:22This is going to be interesting.
00:24Franz Wagner, not available for Orlando.
00:27He hurt himself.
00:28That's a big loss.
00:30Miami looking to get a little bit of revenge here, and I think they will tonight.
00:34Let's get to the action, people.
00:35And sometimes I use this show as therapy, right?
00:37Feeling a little bit better than when we started.
00:39Maybe not as much angriness, but maybe I will get angry to end the show here.
00:42We don't know that.
00:43It's not any right side of the show in here.
00:44Let's bring in Coach J.Y.
00:45You can never get angry at J.Y.
00:47The man comes on with a smile on his face.
00:48He's very professional.
00:50He doesn't lose his mind except when the Knicks do some stupid things.
00:54My egos let me down last night, Coach, but I know you won't let me down today.
00:57Thank you for being here.
00:59I don't know.
01:00I mean, the Knicks have been the bane of my existence.
01:03Actually, no, I'm a Jet fan.
01:04So between the Knicks and Jets and the Mets, I've had pain for 49 years of my life.
01:09But we'll see with New York tonight as they have a big game, obviously, with Toronto and
01:13the NBA Cup quarterfinals, I should say.
01:17Gotcha.
01:17We are in the month of December.
01:19And a lot of times we take a look and say, all right, when's the NBA season actually starting?
01:22It's usually Christmas Day.
01:23It's an extravaganza.
01:24And a way we look forward to the playoffs and the meaningful games here.
01:27But the NBA Cup is underway, something the NBA put in.
01:30So we get more eyeballs on the NBA before we get to Christmas Day and beyond after football season.
01:36Coach, tell me, your Cup process here, what you like about the Cup and what you dislike about the Cup.
01:41Are you a big fan of it here?
01:42Do the players seem to like it much more?
01:44What's the vibes here over the past year and a half in this?
01:46Listen, I'm a fan of the NBA Cup.
01:50I've said it from the jump.
01:51You know, obviously, we talk about the unofficial start of the NBA season being Christmas Day.
01:56And it kind of gives you something to look forward to.
01:58Smart by the NBA, having the games on Tuesday and Wednesday night, not competing with the NFL on Monday and Thursday.
02:05So it's actually a smart look on their part in regards to the matchup.
02:09And then you think about it, Donnie, in regards to teams, in regards to, you know, what are we looking for?
02:14I think it's so pivotal, Donnie and Joe, that you have teams that are trying to establish winning cultures to be in this round.
02:24If you kind of look at Toronto tonight, team has not made the playoffs in a long time, sitting at 15 and 10, even though they're struggling a little bit.
02:31New York trying to establish that culture under Mike Brown with an immense amount of pressure.
02:37A team like Orlando, you know, we'll talk about the injury with Wagner, but a team that, you know, is trying to get through the hump.
02:42And then Miami, a team that we've been thinking about, is their dynasty or their run over with Spoh.
02:48And then you get to the Western Conference.
02:50Phoenix, team that's completely overachieved.
02:53We'll talk about that win they had last night at Minnesota.
02:57And then you look at a team like San Antonio.
02:59So to me, when you've got these young teams that are trying to establish something, winning culture,
03:04this kind of puts them in almost that playoff atmosphere, almost like a game seven, night in, night out.
03:10Yeah, it does feel like it feels like a little more of a playoff atmosphere than anything else in these games, coach.
03:19And tonight's not going to be any different.
03:22The first game is my Miami Heat on the road taking on Orlando, who won't have Franz Wagner.
03:29But, I mean, they've already played twice.
03:31And Miami has lost by a combined five points in those two games.
03:35What are we thinking we're going to get in this rematch here, a third time?
03:41Well, if you kind of look at Miami, listen, they should be, you know, ready to go after that embarrassing 127-111 loss at home to Sacramento.
03:50So Spolsky's groups can be ready.
03:52And this is going to be the first time we'll see Orlando without Wagner.
03:56My concern is you have a Miami Heat team, even though they have not scored a ton of points lately,
04:03they've tried to push the pace versus the Orlando team that scored 100, 106, and then 112.
04:10They haven't really scored the ball a lot under than three straight games.
04:14234 and a half.
04:16I think I'm looking under here.
04:18And with the line moving, it was, I think, they were getting points.
04:22Now Miami's giving points.
04:23I look Miami on the money line just because they're a healthier team.
04:27And I'm going to trust Spoh in a spot there.
04:28Give me Miami Heat on a win and the under.
04:31Knicks and the Raptors, coach.
04:33Overnight line actually had the Knicks as a two-and-a-half point favorite at Fandle.
04:36We're now seeing four-and-a-halves across the board against the Raptors.
04:38And the total, that was 231-and-a-half.
04:40That's been bet down to 225-and-a-half.
04:42Any key injuries?
04:43And also, coach, what are you thinking about this game tonight between the Knicks and the Raps?
04:47Well, when you look at this game, Toronto really got off to a great start, guys.
04:51And we were really impressed about what we were seeing out of Toronto.
04:55They've kind of, you know, come back to the pack here.
04:58A really good thing about the NBA, 30 minutes past every hour.
05:01They have injury reports that have come out.
05:03R.J. Barrett still out of tonight.
05:06So when you look at this matchup, I'm looking at New York here to get the job done on the road.
05:11They have to be better on the road.
05:13New York, you know, has won three straight games.
05:17They've covered the spread in three straight, I should say.
05:19So, to me, I'm looking at New York.
05:20I got the Toronto team that's struggling a little bit for the first time this year,
05:25especially with the injury bug.
05:26And the fact that they have Ananobi back is huge.
05:28Remember, I think Toronto, I think they're like 0-7 against the spread the last seven games.
05:34Give me the Knicks.
05:35Line's moving.
05:35May want to jump on it now, 4-and-a-half.
05:37They may move to 5-5-and-a-half as we get closer to tip-off.
05:40So, it's crazy, because I don't think Toronto's beaten the Knicks since, I don't know,
05:47since when you were actually playing for the Knicks.
05:50It has been quite a while they have actually owned them.
05:54But I'm just curious, Coach, because here we are sitting December 9th, right?
05:59And maybe one of the best stories in the NBA, and nobody's talking about it.
06:04How many games does Oklahoma City lose this year?
06:07Because there's 23-1, Coach, right now,
06:10and I don't see them losing any of these games in the Cup either.
06:14No, they're 23-1, and they just got J-Dub back, and they're just kind of rolling.
06:21Guys, it's an embarrassment of riches of what Sam Presti has at his disposal.
06:27And here's the thing that no one wants to talk about, right?
06:30You look at the fact that this team went to trouble with draft picks,
06:35and you look at the young players, guys, what happens if they want Giannis?
06:40I mean, they got more.
06:41At some point, Sam Presti is going to take those 2,492 draft picks
06:47and all that young talent and flip it for someone.
06:50And when it happens, 23-1, guys,
06:54they're going to roll through that record of 73 wins by the Golden State Warriors.
07:02It's scary.
07:03There's no one that can play with them.
07:05It's almost like can teams even keep them close?
07:08Remember, last time they played against Phoenix,
07:10I think it was an overtime game, but it's a huge line.
07:13I think they blow them out when they play tomorrow.
07:17Take a look, Coach.
07:17OKC to get that 74th regular season win this year is plus 360 price.
07:22If we do look at the NBA championship odds,
07:24the Thunder are a plus 130 price.
07:26If we remove them from the equation like we do in golf with Scotty Scheffler,
07:30who else is out there, Coach?
07:32Nuggets, Rockets, Knicks, Cavs?
07:34Who would get that money for you?
07:36Nobody.
07:37Because no one's paying the team.
07:39I mean, there's no way around it.
07:40They got to get – listen, they need SGA injured for me
07:43to even think about taking someone else.
07:45That's how much better they are than everyone else in the league.
07:48Come on, Coach.
07:48You honest to the Knicks?
07:49Doesn't pique your interest rate there?
07:51Get back into it.
07:52Challenge him a little bit.
07:53Give me that pump fake to the break, baby.
07:55Pump fake to the break, baby.
08:03Joe, at first half money line yesterday, I filled up the Eagles.
08:07Oh, late in the half, first and goal from the two?
08:09Sure, punch it in, tie it up, no big deal.
08:10You move on.
08:11Yeah, then the Eagles happen.
08:12Then for me, Sacramento.
08:13Oh, you want a four-point lead with a couple minutes left to go in the game
08:16and get three and a half points?
08:17Yeah, how about you go dead in the water the final two minutes
08:19and get pummeled by the Pacers?
08:21That's the way it went down.
08:22But today, Joe, we changed those fortunes.
08:24Where are we going today?
08:26Yeah, well, today we're going to go to the NBA Cup, Donnie,
08:30and we're going to look at that first game with the Miami Heat
08:34taking on the Orlando Magic.
08:37And the coach, JY, kind of alluded to it here a little bit.
08:41If it's one thing that we have noticed with these NBA Cup games
08:45is that they are much more, they aren't just like a random Tuesday night
08:51during a regular season where guys aren't playing any defense and nobody cares.
08:55And, you know, these games have a lot more juice here,
08:59especially for teams that haven't exactly been very good over the last couple of seasons.
09:03You got the Magic and the Heat who have battled now, and I told you,
09:07they've already played two games this year, Donnie, separated by five points,
09:11including last Friday's 106-105 Orlando win in Orlando.
09:17They just lost their number one scorer.
09:19Franz Wagner did the Magic.
09:22The Heat will be there, ready to go.
09:24But more than anything, they're bringing the defense, Donnie.
09:27The 234-1⁄2 is too high as far as I'm concerned.
09:30I'm looking at the under here tonight.
09:32Take the under.
09:33Heat and the Magic for me.
09:34I'm going to go north of the border to the 6,
09:36and that's the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks.
09:38We just had Coach James Young here talking.
09:40You know he's a Knicks fan.
09:41Today, I'm going to ride the lightning and ride the line.
09:44Minus 2-1⁄2 at the opening number at FanDuel for the Knicks.
09:46They now sit at 4-1⁄2 across the board.
09:48I'm going to buy the public favorite today, Joe.
09:51I'm rolling with the Knicks.
09:52Minus 4-1⁄2 at a minus-114 price.
09:55Knicks by 5.
09:56Knicks by 5.
09:57That's what we're going to be chanting tonight as the Knicks get the coverage, Joe,
10:00and we go 2-0.
10:02I love it, Donnie.
10:04And again, the Knicks have just dominated the Raptors over the years,
