IOC meeting takes place in Lausanne ahead of the Winter Olympics

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Kirsty Coventry, convened an executive board meeting on Tuesday at the organization's headquarters in Lausanne ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

00:00The head of the International Olympic Committee, Kirstie Coventry, convened an executive board meeting on Tuesday at the organization's headquarters in Lausanne ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
00:12The Winter Games will run from February 6 to 22 at sites across Lombardy and northeast Italy.
00:19The Games will also be held amid ongoing bans of most Russian athletes due to the war in Ukraine and with the war in Gaza still fresh in mind.
00:30It's been a busy time of the year and we're going to walk through and hear a little bit of progress on the fit for the future and where we are to date.
00:38There's been a lot of travel over the past recent weeks, was in Europe for the European evening of sport in Brussels, as well as the Olympic flame lighting, as well as the arrival of the flame in Italy a few days ago, which has been wonderful.
00:55Two years after the 2026 World Cup, the U.S. will host the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, despite Coventry having not yet met with Trump.
