IOC spokesman calls the IBA 'unfit to run boxing'

The IOC criticised the International Boxing Association after they held a chaotic press conference on Monday.

00:05that the sport of boxing needs a new federation to run boxing.

00:12If you ever needed any evidence at all that the IBA is unfit to run boxing,

00:18just to look at the key members of the IBA who took part in that travesty yesterday,

00:24I think tells you everything you need to know.

00:26The sad thing is that boxing is an incredibly important Olympic sport.

00:30I think I've said this before.

00:32For us, it's important not just because it's a great sport,

00:35but because actually it's one of those sports that has a real social aspect to it.

00:40It often works in areas which are underprivileged.

00:47And so it's incredibly important.

00:49We would love to see boxing.

00:51We want to see boxing on the program in LA.

00:53And now it's up to the boxing community to organise themselves for the sport and for the athletes.
