One year after the disappearance of four minors from the Las Malvinas neighborhood, the Regional Foundation for Human Rights Advisory Services (INREDH) denounced the lack of response from the Ecuadorian government. Ismael, Josué, Nehemías, and Steven were arrested on December 8, 2024, by members of the Ecuadorian Air Force, an event captured on camera and considered vital evidence to prevent impunity. Ingrid García, executive coordinator of INREDH, stated that the families of the victims have suffered omission and concealment of information throughout the process. The organization also confirmed a broader pattern of abuse, reporting 33 other disappearances in Ecuador’s coastal provinces.
