00:00On Tuesday, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights granted precautionary measures to 26
00:04disappeared persons in Ecuador. The 26 reported individuals were detained by members of the
00:10armed forces in various operations in 2024, and to this day, the whereabouts remain unknown.
00:15In this scenario, the Inter-American Court also demanded that President Daniel Noboa's
00:19government clarify the forced disappearances and the harassment of military forces against
00:23women who searched for the disappeared relatives. The regional court decided to extend precautionary
00:28measures to six women, mostly mothers, daughters, or sisters of the disappeared.
00:32Under the so-called armed conflict decreed by President Noboa, state agencies, in addition
00:38to denying information about these cases, have been reported for intimidating and threatening
00:42those who seek information about their relatives.
