00:00A 60-year-old man was killed and his wife, injured after the motorcycle they were on,
00:07crashed into a lorry along Jalan Ipoh Lumut on Saturday.
00:11Ipoh OCPD Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin, Abang Ahmad, said the accident occurred
00:18at around 3 p.m. when a 23-year-old lorry driver made a left turn after passing the
00:24proper junction as the traffic light turned green. The motorcyclist, who was travelling
00:29straight, was unable to avoid the sudden manoeuvre and crashed into the side of the lorry.
00:34He died at the scene, while his 61-year-old wife suffered a broken left leg and was rushed
00:40to Raja Permasuri Bainun Hospital for treatment. Her husband's remains were also taken to the
00:45same hospital for a post-mortem. Police said the motorcyclist did not have a valid license
00:51and both the motorcycle's road tax and insurance had expired. Checks confirmed the lorry was
00:57insured and roadworthy. The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act
01:04for Reckless Driving.
