Social media influencer Nina Grace and her husband have been hit with five charges of possessing protected wildlife species without a licence.

They face a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment for up to three years, or both, if convicted.

00:00A social media influencer and her husband have been hit with five charges of possessing

00:09Nina Grace, whose real name is Noor Nina Farisha Wu Abdullah, and Mohammad Zulaymandin, both
00:16aged 28, were charged on Tuesday with jointly keeping three green tree pythons, a carpet
00:22python, a reticulated python, an iguana, and a sulcata, or African spurred tortoise, without
00:29a license.
00:30All the reptiles are protected under the first schedule of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010.
00:36The couple claimed trial to the charges.
00:39The offence was allegedly committed at a premises in Alam Damai, Cheras, at 4.30 p.m. on September
00:4620.
00:47They were charged under Section 60 Subsection 1A of the Act, which carries a maximum fine
00:53of 50,000 ringgit up to three years jail, or both, upon conviction.
00:59Perhillitan Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izati Lokman urged for bail of 10,000 ringgit for
01:06each accused with one surety, along with a condition requiring the accused to report to
01:11the nearest Perhillitan office once a month.
01:14The couple, who was unrepresented, appealed for lower bail, saying they needed to provide
01:19for their two young children.
01:21Sessions Judge Siti Shakira Mohtaruddin allowed bail of 5,000 ringgit for each accused with
01:27one surety, along with the extra condition requested by the prosecution, and fixed January
01:338th for next mention.
