A Shah Alam Sessions Court fined a 33-year-old foreign security guard RM40,000 on Wednesday (Dec 10) for abusing a cat.

Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak issued the sentence after Arman Shah pleaded guilty to abusing the cat at an apartment in Kota Kemuning on November 15.

00:15Judge Noh Hasniya Abdul Razak sentenced 33-year-old Arman Shah after he pleaded guilty
00:21to cruelly abusing a cat at an apartment building in Kota Kemuning on November 15.
00:27Arman was charged under section 29 subsection 1 subsection A of the Animal Welfare Act 2015,
00:34which carries a maximum three-year prison sentence, a fine up to RM100,000 or both.
00:42According to the case facts, a woman at the parking area witnessed the accused sexually assaulting the
00:48cat. After being confronted by the complainant's husband, Arman pulled up his pants, discarded the
00:54cat, and fled to his rented unit. The complainant recorded a video showing the accused holding and
01:00throwing the animal. Investigations revealed the cat is missing, but believed to be alive.
01:06Arman, who was unrepresented, pleaded for leniency, citing his wish to return home to Nepal to care
01:12for his ill mother. In response, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Sophia Jaisal requested severe
01:19punishment as a deterrent, stating that Arman's behavior was excessive and cruel.
01:25The accused is also serving a concurrent four-month sentence for public indecency
01:29and illegal entry into the country.
